An Explosive Kindling

Chapter 2: The smallest of sparks

Summary:

Let's take a long look into Katsumi's and Izuku's training.

Notes:

The curse thing was not a joke. It compels me to continue writing this until something breaks said curse. Anyway enjoy.

Curse has been broken by The_Ashmaker. Thank you SIlvs. If you find him on discord. Send him some shortstacks (Gobbos and imps of course)

Oh and scotta is not me misspelling anything. That is intentional

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

It was a chilly January morning in Musutafu. Of course part of the reason was that it was 3:00 A.M. and daybreak was a distant dream for the moment. Aside from the gentle sounds of the city there were two other distinct voices one shouting encouragement and one wheezing.

"C'mon, you can do better than that you damn nerd!"

"Please, huff, let me, huff huff, catch my, huff, breath Kacchan."

Chuckling the ash blonde 12 year old held out her hand to the broccoli stalk. He took it quickly.

"C'mon Deku, just 5 more pullups and after that we can go for a 5k run and grab some katsudon in Shibuya. I'll pay."

With that Deku returned to his exercise with a renewed sense of vigor started attacking the steel bar pulling himself over it again and again until after 10 more pullups he dropped back to the concrete.

"See I knew you had it in you now come on." The supportive dandelion started with an average pace as the cinnamon role followed a clip behind. When Katsumi saw him gaining on her she broke into a breakneck sprint using her quirk in short bursts to make sure she would hit the turns without slowing her pace yet Deku was still about an arms length behind her. This continued for three kilometers until she lost sight of him for the next two until she heard the sound of shoes on metal and saw him running down an apartment's fire escape across the street.

"Hey how'd you get there Deku?"

"Well Tsubasa has agreed to teach me some movement techniques in exchange for some candy. His wings make it handy for him to find routes for me to run through.

"Not bad by the way. Now come on. Our meals are waiting." with that the two middle schoolers walk towards Zhao Zhao (瑞兆). Soon snow started falling prompting the plants to pick up their pace and after a brisk walk to the restaurant made it into the door while the snow outside was falling faster and faster. Not too long after getting inside the door was almost blockaded with snow.

"Well it seems we're stuck over for the night Kacchan. We might as well enjoy the food."

"Yeah. I might as well enjoy my last day on Earth because my mom will kill me when I get home."

"Still good food and good company aren't that bad into a last night on Earth."

"Fair enough." Katsumi then turned to the cooks "Two katsudon please."

"Aren't you kids kinda young to be up at this time?"

"Aren't you kinda old to be asking questions like that while working a dead end job?" she shot back.

This shut up the cook as he mumbled "That will be ¥1500."

Katsumi footed the bill as the two 12 year olds took a booth and waited for their meals.

"Hey Izuku, what are you planning on doing after middle school?"

"Oh I was planning in joining U.A. I might be able to make it into general studies or support."

"What? Are you crazy?"

"Yeah they probably won't accept somebody without a quirk."

"What the hell are you saying? You're totally cut out for the hero course."

The greenette started laughing "No way, they only accept those with quirks for that course."

"I've heard Air Jet had no quirk yet made it in and passed with high marks due to his intellect. You seem to be on his levels Deku."

The cinnamon roll that masqueraded as human blushed a deep pink at that "You really think so?"

"No. I know so." The dynamite reassured him beaming.

"Thank you Kacchan."

As they continued making small talk their meals were delivered and they dug in as if they were Irish during 1845-1849. The pork was appropriately flavorful and complimented nicely by the broth and onions. The noodles were scotta in both senses of the word. The meal as a whole was satisfying and by now the snow had blocked most of the door. So they decided to call home.

"IIIIIIZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKKKKUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! I WAS SO WORRIED ABOUT YOU WHEN I SAW YOU WEREN'T IN BED! I'm glad you're safe young man." Ink cried over the phone.

"Katsumi, I suggest you get into your Sunday best when you get home, because you're mother is going to kill you." Masaru told her furtively.

"Katsumi I was worried about you, but I'm happy you're safe with your little boyfriend." Mitsuki said calmly leaving both husband and daughter stunned.

"Mom Izuku and I aren't FUCKING DATING!" Katsumi whispered yelled into the receiver.

"Oh then that mean I can play matchmaker for Corvus' daughter Kokage?" Mitsuki sniped piercing Katsumi's excuses.

"Try and I'll slaughter you." Katsumi said forgetting to put on an indifferent act.

"Well you better make your move or somebody else will take him so fast your head will spin." Mistuki said ignoring her daughter's swearing.

The phone calls ended abruptly as the blizzard outside knocked out cell signals and for the rest of the next two days that they were trapped in the restarraunt Izuku Midoriya would wonder why Katsumi Bakugo would blush whenever he saw her stealing glances.
