Chapter Text
It was just a normal day in the demon realm as Demon Arut was supervising the training of certain demon soldiers. The room was filled with massive and tiny weapons, whether they were sharp or just weighed tons, they looked a lot like the one used in the Empire for human soldiers.
Well, humans and demons were similar in training methods and the only difference between them was their appearance. Even their way of thinking was similar to each other’s.
As the day unfolded as usual, a soldier returned from his expedition with a strange stone. He took care of bringing it in the castle carefully in a large tissue to not risk anything. There was already a risk since he decided to bring it to the demons’ residence but hey- It’s for the sake of this fanfiction’s plot!
The stone was in a shade of purple between amethyst and violet. She tanged more on the second colour so they assumed it was characterized by this one. He decided to give it to the demon king who could hand it to someone capable of analysing it.
The person in charge of the mission was the doctor of the castle, Ben, who searched in a grimoire what the object was. They finally found its description with the help of the other commanders. Its name was “The Stone Of Wishes”.
They decided to try its power on Demon Arut without his authorisation. After all, they knew he wouldn’t have accepted the request for sure. They didn’t know much about him except for his strength in the battlefield but they had the premonition that he wouldn’t accept the demand.
The poor boy didn’t know they brought a new artefact in the castle and only heard rumours about a certain stone with a weird shade of purple. That was the principal reason of why he didn’t mind or gave attention on what was happening that day.
When this particular stone is approached near a person in a rayon of one meter, the rock will enlighten itself but the action wasn’t this bright since it couldn’t blind anyone in the process of its functioning. Its power was in sum simple.
It could teleport the most trusted and/or loved person of ones when approached. The person could be dead for all it cares, so dead or alive, a person will appear taking the place of the stone in the process after some time and the time limit can be estimated to hours. Even a day at maximum.
Cavert, the demon king, wanted to be assured that his precious Demon would choose their side and not the human’s. It was the major reason on why he accepted to test the stone’s powers on the 0th corps commander. The other involved are Ed, Asild, Edellia, Jaykar, Ririnell and Velitan and since the scene was happening while Demon was supervising the training of soldiers, the said soldiers were also part of the audience.
The reason on why they were all okay with the test was because they wanted to know who was their dear commander’s most loved one or the one most considered as an ally, perhaps even a friend.
« Sir Arut! » exclaimed Ririnell. The girl jumped excited at the view of the white haired commander.
The demon king was also part of the squad as all the others joined the party when they discovered the effects of the violet stone.
To be honest, Deon was more than terrified at the view of so many powerful demons heading his way. He panicked and it clearly was shown on his face. However, instead of a scaredy cat’s face, he had a cold aura and a menacing gaze that froze everyone. You can say that it only contributed at the misunderstanding between their assumptions on Demon’s personality and his true nature.
« Wow, Lord Arut must be in a really bad mood… » whispered Ed.
They nonetheless approached the crimson-eyed man as the demon king introduced them as well as an explanation for their sudden interruption of the training. The soldiers stopped their training and directed their gaze at the scene happening before them.
It was a huge relief because they felt oppressed under the 0th corps commander stare that was again misunderstood because the latter was only stressed and anxious on how to keep low profile for the rest of the day.
« We apologise for the interruption Lord Arut but we currently have an urgent matter to deal with. » *Jaykar*
Deon screamed in his head imagining all kind of scenarios as his fear to be discovered as the coward he truly was rising and increasing his heartbeat.
« May I know the role I’ll play in this matter? »
The words slipped out of his mouth without him noticing or being aware of it moving. It was like someone else said it and spouting some words while he was just stuck unconscious in his own body.
« We need you to look at this stone Arut. » *Demon king*
The demon kind handed the stone to Demon Arut without waiting for his response. The boy didn’t have a choice to begin but the moment he took the stone to examine it, it started to emit a faint glow of gold that still blinded him since he had sensitive eyes.
Having albinos is not as simple as it seems. Although it wasn’t that long since they gave the man’s the stone, they were getting impatient to see the result of their experience. Demon Arut was a human difficult to read. He was a cold blooded commander that is powerful with an insatiable blood thirst. The curiosity grew more and more and after seconds that appeared to take hours of waiting…
« What is the meani- »
Demon couldn’t finish his sentence though as a familiar silhouette stand before his eyes. He thought this same person was dead for a long time… The person he blindly followed and trusted with all his heart was in front of his very own eyes…
He could see the light brown hairs which remained intact even with the messiness of the war, the green calming eyes that he could stare at for hours and the familiar scar on the left of the boy’s face. Silence fell in the room. We could even hear a fly pass by but when noticing the tension, leaving the room to maybe the wine one.
The boy that appeared out of nowhere looked around him confused on the circumstance as the people who planned this had their mouth agape and widened eyes. They did not expect such a turn of events. They thought it’d be one of the demons in this realm or the emperor or someone that looked like their commander who they could justify as a relative.
It turns out the result was everything but expected. After understanding where he was and accidently not seeing his precious past friend, the boy quickly grabbed his sword with a fight posture ready to attack at the slightest movement of the enemy but he quickly stopped when he heard a way too familiar voice.
« S-sir hero…? »
The astonishment was general. In Cassius’ case and the demons’. For Cassius, he thought he was long gone and when he faced his past teammate who he untrusted to his powers standing before him, the shock was too sudden. And for the demons’ case because the 0th corps commander just stuttered…
Well, it was quite an exaggeration but knowing the side they knew about Lord Arut, no one would believe the man could look this defenceless and vulnerable. Ririnell didn’t accept the fact that it wasn’t her that Arut liked the most and the demon king was struggling to find an explication to these events. Was Demon Arut on their side or the Empire’s since the person he liked the most was the past hero before his death on the battlefield?
« Am I hallucinating after so long? »
Of course, Deon already had a lack of self-esteem so he just put the blame on his imagination. It wouldn’t be surprising if he had gone insane after all the stress he had to go through since the pause in the war.
You can say that the day was quite messy in the demon realm after people witnessing their beloved commander being hugged by the past hero of the Empire.
