The sun had set when they reached Redcliffe, and Dorian had a brief moment of panic when he thought they might stay at the Gull. To his relief, they only stopped to refresh the horses. Standing there, waiting for fresh mounts, Dorian could just make out the roof of the Gull- its chimney puffing black smoke into the purpling sky. If he never went back there, it would be too soon. Without the Inquisitor, he’d never have gone in the first place. Then it finally dawned on him that he’d be speaking to the Inquisitor for the first time since… Well, it’s not that Dorian was precious about fondling men. But, as a rule, he rarely saw them again after. And he certainly didn’t work with them. So don’t be precious about it now, he told himself. If it had meant anything, surely the Inquisitor would have said something. Maker’s sake, the Herald of Andraste had bigger things to worry about. They all did.

In my head, the events of DAI are Varric's version of the story. So this is a *mostly* cannon-compliant account of Lavellan and Dorian's relationship from "Last Resort of Good Men" into "Here Lies the Abyss." It delves into themes of: structural inequality, grief/loss, and the horrifying ordeal of being known. -

Aveliee died and the newly named Ave got shoved in. Her goal, avoid the problems of the new magical world she found herself in and become a farmer. If only it was that simple. Spirits inhabiting animals, a new form of magic and the possible end of the world makes her "normal" anything but.

Solas looks out across the river, and for a moment he is dizzy with the way the waves beckon him, the little lies they tell in every shift of the tide. He should deny it, but he finds that he cannot.
‘Most especially me,' he says heavily.Solas is a famous detective with a troubled history dating back to the wars that destroyed his homeland. When he embarks on a cruise along the Enavuris River to pursue a lead in his most recent case, he encounters a passionate love triangle which comes to a fatal end.
Complicating the tragedy is the fact that the victim Justinia, heiress to the Chantry fortune, was murdered with Solas’ own gun. And then there’s the problem of his extremely inconvenient attraction to the prime suspect, Jacqueline Lavellan.
As the cruise continues through the wilderness, rapidly approaching the Veil that separates the south of Thedas from the mysterious north, Solas races to uncover the truth before the killer can strike again.

Summary
Carlo was brought to the world of Thedas - trapped in a forest and found by a Dalish clan. Unable to get home with suspicion cast upon him by many others, he finds he has little to do other than survive. However, he learns that he had been brought to Thedas several weeks before the events of the Conclave: weeks before the events of Inquisition take place.
With the knowledge that he holds, he can either roll along and play things safe, or use what he knows to change things for the better. However, things are much easier said than done - especially in a world like Thedas.

Fen’Harel cultists, a wannabe evanuris, and being stuck in the Fade is not going to get in the way."Rook takes a long look at him. Solas is not the bruised, weeping man who chose to bind himself to the Fade. With Morrigan’s help, Mythal had released him from her service. The inquisitor had convinced him to give up on bringing down the Veil. In the end, Morrigan had turned into a bird and flew away. The inquisitor had returned to her life with her husband, Cullen.
But Rook felt as if she never left, her heart breaking when she watched Solas turn around to enter the breach consigned to eternity alone. For the very briefest moment, she had an impulse to go with him. How could she, how could anyone do that to him?
She was a fool.
And then Solas had turned at the last moment and said, “Thank you, Rook.” before disappearing from view.
It was at that moment that Rook knew she would never be free of him.
Even if they found a way to break their blood bond, she would never be free."
