Summary
It’s a really good thing they’re in deep space with no one else on the ship. Anyone in a five-mile radius would probably be crushed flat under the weight of his current level of indignity.
He’s offered a respite (albeit one with a rather sour aftertaste) in the form of River groaning softly in pain as she readjusts her position on the bed. She seems to settle into a relatively bearable arrangement of limbs, gradually rolling herself over to face away from him and nudging herself toward the bed’s center.
Deciding it would be best to let her get some sleep, the Doctor gets up as gingerly as he can and pads toward the door. But before he exits the room, he turns to regard her with a kind of strange and, for the moment, unnamable curiosity.
--Or, River breaks her ankle. They both have some Feelings™ about it.

As they fight to move forward, both of them have to confront their own desires and darkness and each other's, if they truly want to be each other's forever.
