Summary
An exiled officer from Oranje. A fisherwoman’s body, pulled from the waves. The Pale twitches, hiding a fresh wound.
Johannes Meijer expected nothing from this post—a punishment for a case gone terribly wrong, a fitting place for penance. Insulinde alone wasn't far enough; he is sent to the furthest edge of Revachol, to islands a mere breath from oblivion. But what appeared at first sight a simple murder drags him deeper. A woman who should not exist. An island once lost to the Pale, since returned.
Revachol has been standing on the precipice for a long time.
