Summary
Following the collapse of the United States, into bloody civil war, the world changed. Nations became far more aggressive, and toed the line much more so. The Russians would launch a "pacification operation" into Kazakhstan, and annex the northern portions, which experts have compared to their foreign policy regarding Ukraine and Georgia.
These actions by the Russians, would lead to an increased hostile attitude against them in other countries. Many Europeans did not feel safe, for many viewed their Russian populations as potential collaborators and spies. This increased hostile attitude would lead to extremist dialogue and beliefs festering within many populations, which gave the Russian government plenty of recruits when the First European War came along.
Our protagonist was one who lost much, his job after the worldwide financial collapse, his own friends after the crisis in Kazakhstan. However, he has seemingly found a way to "get back" at the world that, in his eyes, wronged him.

Summary
Fall, 1946. Nazi Germany and fascist Italy have conquered Europe and Africa with stunning speed and brutality. France is a subdjugated puppet state. The British Empire is splintered. As the war between Germany and what remains of the Free World escalates, Hitler launches a risky operation aimed at knocking the Americans out of the war and ensuring fascist domination of the world. America is the last bastion standing against the fascists, teetering on the brink of armageddon. It has been weakened by the Depression and long years of punishing war against a more powerful enemy. Morale is low and discipline is failing. Escape is impossible; there is nowhere left to run. There are no secret weapons. There is no hope for an outside power to join the fray. There is only bloody-minded and bloody-handed defiance.
