Stuck in a loop of fighting low-level criminals as Spider-Man, working grueling hours at The Daily Bugle, and building a hodgepodge playlist packed with songs that remind him of his past, Peter doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to escape the torturous minutiae of his new life. That is until a certain Canadian mercenary crashes into his life, seemingly with ‘good’ intentions, and is far too eager to team up together.

Happy stepped in front of Peter, "Are you here on your own accord?" He glanced at Tony with clear distrust, which was slightly fair in all honesty. Peter kept his face bored, raising an eyebrow. Happy faltered for a second before doubling down. "I mean it, I will take you home right now, we can call May." It struck him funny, how no one had any idea how much his world had warped upon itself in such a short time.
How long would it have taken them to notice May had moved, to notice how Peter's world was burning down around him if he didn't fuck up?
"Thanks, dude," the nickname would have gotten a scoff or some light threat in the past, but Happy only watched him. "I can make my own choices, grown man rights and all that. But A for effort, stepping in for the little guy." Peter made his words sharp, clapping sarcastically.

"Don't give a flying fuck, keep it." He threw up a peace sign, shoving his hands into his pockets again as he wandered towards Tony, unbothered. Lab, the second highest lab at Stark Industries.
Then he came along. Peter Parker. A senior at Empire State University. He showed up, all bright eyes and fluffy hair, for the Stark internship. Something Pepper had started that previous summer. Peter graduates from NYU with two degrees and zero long-term plans. Tony misses having Peter around the tower for fun science times and mentor-mentee bonding. So, Peter relents and finally accepts Tony's offer of living at the Tower, and Ned moves in with him. Peter feels ready to start a new phase in his life.
What Peter isn't quite ready for is revealing his identity to the Avengers. His limited interactions over the years make him think they'll just see him as a child, and even if they didn't... ever since May died, it's been hard to just think about bonding with any new people like that.
But the Tower's resident cast of found family members will make it even harder to stay away, and Peter connects especially to one cookie baking, mocha loving, ex-killer with enough sass to rival his own and a mischievous streak a mile wide.
