He looked around for a doorbell, but found none. Glancing back at the number, he noticed a large metal knocker above the peephole. He grabbed the handle and knocked three times. No response. He waited a moment and knocked again, this time louder.
Silence.
Sal pressed his ear to the door to see if he could make out any movement or voices on the other side of the door. All he could hear was the heavy bass of what sounded to be blaring rock music. He stood there, contemplating what to do next. Unsure of how to proceed, Sal brazenly grabbed hold of the door knob and turned it. It was unlocked. Sal paused again, momentarily caught in a silent debate. Was it really okay to enter? Lisa had invited him, sure, but no one had answered the door. Sal weighed his options, then, with a deep breath, he pushed the door open.
“Hello?” Sal called out, raising his hand to the side of his mouth to amplify his voice.
