Summary
I got this idea after watching “Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore” on PBS. Minne, from my story “Follow Up”, makes a return, with vast improvement with her signing and thoughts, but not oral. Her telepathy is better than & she's older.
After seeing his wife struggle with frustration, not knowing if anyone, except her family, appreciated all she had done, Chakotay, albeit human, senses Rhianna’s joy to find that she touched more people’s lives than she realized. As an ambassador, she has a new assignment that's not for Betazed. With Riva, it is for Deaf citizens of the Federation. This “what if” scenario takes place after the Dominion War. What would be some of things to go during such a war & the last things to be considered as necessary to re-establish? What would be one of the groups most harmed due to social policies & ideas of what is important or needed? What would it take for a cultural group to get a sense of community restored? Lastly, what stereotypes would need shattering in the process? This extreme scenario causes isolation of a minority group & fast elimination of their culture, with every child that would be included. Even taking away educational facilities that belong to that culture.

After Captain Janeway contracts an illness during an expedition to an uninhabited planet and orders USS Voyager to leave her behind, a certain hardheaded Astrometrics officer isn't so keen on abandoning her Captain. As Janeway and Seven learn to navigate the strange new dynamic forming between them, it becomes apparent that the planet they now call home has a much deeper story to tell--one that seems to defy logic, reality, and even the natural order of time itself.
