Spock and Kirk have been secretly dating for a year. It started awkwardly and unnaturally because Spock could only admit he had deep feelings of love for Jim when he emerged from his mad state after his Pon Farr. The suffering of having murdered his beloved captain nearly consumed him, and driven by guilt, he would logically surrender to the fleet to receive a torturous punishment, although of course, Captain Kirk wouldn't die so easily. Not even Spock could describe the feeling of joy and delight he felt when he saw Jim standing in front of him; it was so much that he couldn't suppress a big smile.
Today we're here to explore the progress of their relationship and a surprising ability that Vulcans hide.

As a result, they find themselves navigating their precious and cherishing relationship through the apparent chasm between profound emotion and Vulcan self-control and through the daily madness and wonder that is life in Starfleet.
To love Spock deeply and enduringly has come easily to Teresa. To the logical and reserved Spock (the Star Trek Continues version of him, wonderfully played by Todd Haberkorn), embracing emotion has long seemed inconceivable, and following his heart proves to be a challenge of exceptional magnitude. Fortunately, he does not have to meet this challenge alone.

Spock tries to figure out how to give Jim what he needs while balancing his responsibilities as captain. Sulu is trying to figure out how to be a good dad to Demora and partner to Ben light years from both. Leonard and Nyota are trying to figure out how to raise a preteen in space with enough baggage to fill the ship. No one knows quite what they're doing. However, they are the best crew in Starfleet, which essentially means they’ll just make it up as they go. A collection of letters, emails and other written correspondence from the first year of Enterprise’s five-year mission.

This began as a one shot based on a tumblr post but I had so much interest in continuing, I decided to go for it in 2022
Only the first chapter is from 2020, when originally posted.
For the purposes of this fic, while the part where Spock accused Jim of cheating did happen, the distress signal from Vulcan did not, and there is no destruction of Vulcan or murder of Spock's mother here.
Jim arrives on the Enterprise for the first time as a crew member and clasps Spock in greeting, without thinking, and Spock responds that they are bonded.
