Summary
After deciding to sue the department, Buck finds out he has a daughter that he didn't know about. Getting her in his care, he needs to learn how to be the dad she deserves while fighting to get his job back, mending relationships, and navigating the realization that his best friend might mean more to him than what he's been thinking this whole time.
Basically it's girl dad Buck with slowburn Buddie
(Ps I mainly chose lawsuit era so that the kids could be closer in age 🤷🏻 if you don't like lawsuit era fics I swear that it's not super relevant past a certain point in the fic. It's very buddie heavy and cute and silly for the most part)

Summary
It was Buck’s turn to chuckle. The bartender placed his glass of ice water in front of him. A deep, refreshing gulp made him realize just how dry his throat was. “So,” Eddie said, setting his beer down. “What's your name, Mr. Designated Driver?”
Buck hesitated. “My name? Evan Buckley. Everybody calls me Buck.”
“A pleasure, Buck. Name's Eddie,” he said, that smile of his growing on his face once more. “I hope I'm a part of the ‘Everybody’ that can call you Buck?”
“Yeah,” Buck said, reaching for his water to cool his pounding heart. “Yeah, you are.”
Or
Buck was just broken up with. All he wanted to do was move in with his significant other; what could have possibly been so wrong about that? Maddie and Chimney take Buck to a line dance bar to take his mind off the breakup, where he meets Eddie, a line dance teacher.

Summary
After seeing a viral TikTok of two firefighters—one effortlessly lifting the other princess-style with one hand—Buck decides it’s his new life mission to prove he can do the same with Eddie.
The problem?
Eddie refuses to cooperate, partly out of stubborn pride… and partly because he likes the attention.
Cue endless teasing from the team, a little reckless determination from Buck, and a showdown at Bobby’s BBQ that leaves everyone talking — especially Eddie, who suddenly can’t stop thinking about the way Buck held him like he weighed nothing at all.

Summary
' Buck, speak of the devil, dropped down the last few feet. Bracing one foot against the rocky cliff and the other against the bumper, he secured his line and glanced up. The moment his eyes met Hondo’s, he faltered, foot slipping slightly against the rock.
“You okay, kid?”
It was impressive, the speed with which Buck recollected himself. Other than a slight downward quirk to his lips as though he had swallowed something sour, there was nothing on his face to tip off discomfort. An odd reaction, as far as he knew Buck had never met this man before. Eddie couldn’t help but furrow his brow. 'Evan "Buck" Buckley doesn't lie to his loved ones. At least, not any more than he needs to. He's made quite the life for himself at the 118 with people he loves and not a care in the world (at least, as far as anybody can tell) about his past before the 118. His past that he has historically been a bit vague about. When a blast from the past appears on a call, he is realizing that he might not have gotten away so scott-free from his past occupation. Cue Eddie noticing. Now, Buck has to navigate the collision between his past and his present.

Summary
Chris sniffled.
“I don’t want dad to have a girlfriend,” he huffed eventually.
Buck nodded. He could understand where the boy was coming from, perhaps thinking it felt too early for Eddie to start dating again, but his mother had been dead for a while, and Buck knew his friend was starting to get a little… pent up… a fact he only knew when he’d accidentally walked into the locker room during a 24 hour shift and found Eddie in the shower, moaning beneath the water.
“I understand buddy. It’s hard moving on, but I know this one will care about you like your dad does and will be there for you too-”
Chris cut Buck off with an angry huff.
“You don’t get it!” he seethed.
Buck had never really seen Chris angry with him, so this took him a bit off guard.
“Then help me understand?” Buck asked.
“I don’t want dad to have a girlfriend! I want him to marry you!”---
Or, Chris Diaz knows Eddie and Buck are in love with one another, in fact, everyone does except for the idiots themselves. Getting the two to admit it, however, is not an easy feat, at least, not until something happens that changes their lives forever. -

Summary
Frank said he needed to find a way to express his feelings, if he couldn’t do that with people.
That’s how he found out about his love for writing.
He always found writing magical. He loved reading the New York Times and small poems he saw everywhere. Sometimes he went to the library to find poems and sonnets, when he was younger. Later his dad found out and shut it down real quick.
He never read a poem again.
Until Buck. He made him realize it’s not weak or un masculine.
Eddie began expressing his feelings in poems.
Now he has a book full of beautiful poems and small stories. The book is locked away just like his emotions.
Even though Eddie realized it’s not weak, nobody knows about it not even Buck, especially Buck.
The poems are about how he feels and what he thinks, and a lot are about Buck.
Or
When Eddie can’t talk about his feelings, he writes poems about them in a book. Buck finds the book and begins spiraling

Summary
“Uh Buck, forgetting something?” Eddie throws out in a sarcastic tone, pointing towards the kitchen island.
Buck turns around and starts walking towards Eddie cautiously, with a confused tilt to his head and furrowed eyebrows. Once he reaches Eddie he kisses him softly on the forehead, moving back to raise an eyebrow in question. Did I get it?
Eddie immediately flushes red and makes a strange noise of confusion, causing everyone else to look up. “No, Buck. You’re forgetting to-”
All Eddie is trying to do, is to tell Buck that he is about to leave his phone. The one he insisted someone text him the group's order on. The one he is going to use to pay even though he went through the effort of going down to the locker room to grab his wallet, just to come back up to the loft to say goodbye.
But he’s cut off by Buck gently grabbing his face and kissing him again. This time on the lips.
Or Buck is going out to buy a pick me up for the team and when Eddie tries to remind him to bring his phone, Buck kissed him instead.

Summary
Evan Buckley’s two-step program was standard, really.
One: admit you have a problem (a dire, dramatic, all-consuming crush on your best friend who moved to Texas).
Two: do something about it (get a grip).Turns out, that plan sucked.
The messy, ridiculous, insane two-step program was much more successful.
One: get wine-drunk and join a support group.
Two: make sure your best friend (that you’re hopelessly in love with) is still your emergency contact, even when he’s eight-hundred miles away. -
