Summary
It didn’t occur to Erik that he should probably give his own family a call until heard the sirens pulling up to his house. Not wanting to face his father first, he scrolled through his contacts until he found Aunt Darlene’s name. “Hi Erik,” she said when she picked up the phone. “Is everything okay over there?”
“Before I say anything, I just want to say that everyone is okay.”
Her tone was filled with concern now. “Alright, Erik, what happened?”
“Um. The fire department is here.”
While his mom is away on a work trip and his dad is with Bobby at the dentist, a thirteen-year-old Erik Campbell is tasked with babysitting his younger sister, Julia. As a result, the Cloverdale NY Fire Department pays the Campbell household a visit.
