Summary
Caleb laughed as he kissed Essek’s cheek softly and fell back to continue his reading, “Don’t judge it till you try it.”
“If that is the case, then I will never be allowed to judge,” Essek absentmindedly flipped a page in his book.
“I’m not so sure. I can imagine you with dirt on your face and ink staining your hands.”
“Perish the thought,” was all Essek had to say on the matter before the two fell into a comfortable silence as they read.
The problem was that Caleb could not allow the thought to perish.Day 1- Ink
Caleb wastes some very fine ink, Essek tries to teach Caleb prestidigitation at the worst possible time, and both of them learn that sometimes messes are more fun together.

UNDERGOING EDITS.
SUMMARY:
I wish for you to stay with me forever.
On the pirate isle of Darktow, a wish is made and a story begins. Across the seas of the Menagerie Coast and the worlds beyond, the girl born from that wish will go to the very end of everything...or the salvation of it.
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
This is a novel-length original fanfiction, the first of a 5-part series. It takes place in the first two parts in the setting of Exandria, moving later to the greater world of Faerun and other planes of existence within the D&D universe, and will revisit Exandria eventually. This series revolves around original characters, and does not feature Critical Role characters other than the possibility of brief mentions. It does heavily feature the setting, gods, and other themes of Exandria, particularly in the first two books, and some connections to the greater story (i.e. the mention of Ruidiusborn). While I'm always excited to chat with actual readers, I am NOT open to being solicited for sales pitches of AI 'art', 'comics', etc. I am against all forms of generative AI.

Summary
Three ex-Volstrucker and one Dynasty fugitive couldn't possibly have normal relationships with each other, so they don't. They have something else entirely.
“You look like a fucking porcupine,” Astrid said. She picked her way across the corpse-studded floor of the gloomy cavern.
Eadwulf glanced back over his shoulder as he parried a blow from an undead warrior. His view was slightly blocked by the volley of arrows encrusting the back of his armor.
“I didn’t call for help,” he grumbled. -

Kingsley sighs. “Does it ever occur to you people just how bloody infuriating it is that every conversation I have with this group, I’ve got you all waiting for me to be someone other than myself? Do you have any idea what that’s like?”
Essek laughs, just a little chuckle that seems to take him just as much by surprise as the rest of them. He quiets and fixes his cloak. “I do, actually,” he says.

Summary
“Finally,” a woman grumbles.
Fjord pauses in his tracks. He forces his eyes open.
Sitting at the chipped and stained table in his kitchen— and it takes him a second to remember their names— are Astrid and Eadwulf.
They’re dressed in dark leathers, dotted with pockets and wearing utility belts filled with spell components. Eadwulf’s sword hangs in its scabbard, slung across the back of the chair. They’re drinking his tea.
“Given that you’re a sailor, I expected you to be awake earlier,” Astrid says, making direct eye contact. There’s an undercurrent of disappointment to her tone, like she’s rolling her eyes.
“And I thought you shaved everywhere,” Eadwulf adds. His eyes are not on Fjord’s face.
Fjord pulls Jester's tiny pink housecoat closed over his hips.
“Get dressed, we’re behind schedule already,” Astrid orders.or
Fjord is recruited for a mission. Strange times make for strange bedfellows.

Essek is lucky to be alive.
It can be hard to believe, with the scars he now bears. The Mighty Nein turned on him at the close of the war, and he barely escaped with his life. He defied fate to be here.
At least, that is what Ludinus Da'leth told him, when he offered Essek shelter in exchange for his particular expertise. Essek's own recollection is—
Fraught.

Summary
Caleb follows, and it’s almost natural, how he steps into Eadwulf’s space after Astrid has left. There’s a ghost of shared body language and muscle memory in the movement: Bren tilting his head up to meet Eadwulf’s eyes, hand reaching up to grip his right shoulder. But it’s Caleb who moves now, and the gesture is tinged with uncertainty, an acrid sting of fear and longing making it all feel a little sour.
“She called you Little Knife,” Caleb says in Common.
“She does sometimes,” Eadwulf answers in the same language. He spits out blood, missing Caleb’s shoes, but barely. There must still be something of Bren inside those bones, because the other wizard doesn’t even flinch.
(Eadwulf has always been a weapon).
