Aleksander Morozova deserved a good ending, someone who understood him and the actions he'd taken for his people. Ravka, and her Grisha, deserved a Sun Summoner who actually cared. The country should've had a Saint that would properly protect it. Not one who would run due to the whispered whims of a woman who cared little for her.
The Sun Saint will bring peace to Ravka. By any means necessary.

Modern AU where Kaz is Kirigan’s son and a Shadow Summoner, but - when Kirigan was presumed dead in the Fold - he was adopted by Colm and Jesper. Almost all of his backstory is still the same, but instead of his father dying in a plow accident, it was just Kirigan disappearing and remaking his new identity, but Jordie and Kaz were too young to know he would come back, so he had to find them in Ketterdam, but only found one of them, who was horribly traumatized by the death of the other and had already managed to adopt a gang as his own siblings and “children.” This is basically just Kaz having two dads, superpowers that make everyone hate him, and a whole lot of trauma. Starts as word reaches Ketterdam that the Darkling is confirmed to be alive, instead of dying in the Fold. Oh, and then Nikolai shows up and asks Kaz for a favor that will set them all on a collision course with the Darkling.
Also, Kaz is a Captain of the Second Army and – even though he severed all ties when he escaped to Ketterdam – a lot of the Grisha still refer to him as Captain Brekker and like him a lot better than Kirigan.

Suddenly, it was just the two of us. Though I was glad to escape the prying eyes, his presence alone was far more intimidating than the entire Second army. I shifted uneasily, hyper-aware of how close he stood. His dark eyes flicked over me as if to make sure the healers had done their job well. Within seconds, he undid the buttons of his kefta and draped it over my naked shoulders. “Show me the base on the map.” He commanded.
...A shadow-summoner from Fjerda escapes her Druskelle captors and seeks refuge with the Second Army. I’m aiming to keep the Darkling’s character true to the book and series – no excess sweetness, but a lot of depth, respect and underneath it all, kindness.
I’m not a fan of damsels in distress, so while the female protagonist has her vulnerabilities, she’s also incredibly resilient and strong. I want the characters to feel authentic, so I’m focusing on making everyone’s actions and decisions true to their personalities.
I wrote this as a self-indulgence, as I couln't find the perfect fanfic, but it’s your comments that inspire me to keep going, so please, share your thoughts—I’d love to hear them!
Also, English isn’t my first language, so I appreciate your understanding.
