"It started how all things start, with skekSil the Lord Chamberlain minding everyone's business but his own....the Chamberlain had no reason to care. Nevertheless, he did care, even if only out of impartial curiosity and a boredom with the monotony of life in the castle of the Crystal. Even before he laid eyes on him, the enigmatic Fenth piqued skekSil's interest. Why would Fenth rouse the Sifan crowd to split from the other Clans?...the secession movement he instigated, this could not easily be explained by a craving for power. Fenth wasn't even the Sifan Maudra; he has very little to gain from this...Fenth's charisma was admirable and his tactics were shrewd...But skekSil never bothers to pull schemes if he has nothing to gain from them; his machinations take effort and careful planning. Therefore, the Chamberlain reasons that Fenth almost definitely has a purpose for this. SkekSil is going to sate his curiosity about said purpose.
