The hysterical laughter stole every coherent thought from Buck and crawled into his bones; his heart thudded and he stared at the doll in disbelief. Then, as suddenly as it had started, the laughter stopped; leaving an eerie silence. Buck stood frozen, his thoughts like thick mud, staring at that stupid doll.
He completely missed the huge hole in the wall above the tub. He missed the shadow standing there, watching him from behind the hole with cold eyes and a malicious smile. -

Summary
Great, he wasn’t getting through that door anytime soon. His eyes wander around the room. It’s a boring four-by-four brick-walled covered room, and the floor beneath him is cold, hard, and concrete. It’s a basic room with nothing in it, except for him and a man curled up in the corner. Wait? What? A man curled up in the corner of the room with his knees pulled tightly to his chest and his bruised, pale face staring at the wall in front of him. He barely noticed him in the corner; he was quiet, almost stoic, and had obviously been here long before he was.
Or...
Eddie is kidnapped and thrown into a room all alone until he spots another person in there with him. Maybe he's not alone, but who is the man in the corner? How long has he been here? Can they trust each other to get out of here together? Will their bond keep them close? Or will they be separated when the opportunity arises?

Suddenly, a hand was pressed to against his face and an arm wrapped around his arms, pinning them to his side. His startled yelp was muffled against the hand holding down on his face.
The person who grabbed him dragged him backwards, away from his home, away from safety. He struggled against the hold, but was unable to get free.
"Sorry, Evan,” Buck froze as the man addressed him by name. This wasn’t a random kidnapping. He was targeted.

In the back of the ambulance, Eddie was in the middle of rechecking vitals for the injured patient when he suddenly heard the sirens stop wailing, immediately jolting up from what he was doing. “What the hell…?”
When Eddie looked up he saw the glint off the metal of the gun the guard with him was holding, gaze instantly locking onto the threat. His hands over the patient stilled, and his eyes narrowed into a glare. It was made worse when he recognized the eyes he was glaring into, his anger too strong for his rising panic to bother him at all.
“Hey there, Eddie.” The man grinned, taking his hat off as the disguise was no longer doing him any good. “Miss me?”

Which had been at least 12 years back. Buck had surprised her, sure, when he’d shown up to her ER just shy of his 19th birthday after having gotten into an accident. He’d seen his sister once in just over a decade and hadn’t talked to her since that day. But the man at the tree farm was … it was definitely Doug. It didn’t make sense.

When Maddie runs from Doug, she doesn't approach Buck. She waits, wanting the divorce to be done, to be free, before reuniting with her baby brother. Doug, the dick that he is, takes the choice out of her hands. She thinks she can just be free and leave him? The only thing Maddie cares about in the world is her baby brother. Instead of just coming for her, he comes for Evan, using his Livestream torture to draw her out of hiding.
