Magnus Bane has been put through and lost a lot because of Shadowhunters. He lives a ghost of a life, his heart closed, dedicated to protecting his people. Then Alec enters his life, challenging everything Magnus thought he knew about Shadowhunters.
Assassination attempts, missing wings, life changing promotions, unwanted feelings... Suddenly their lives are full of drama. Will anything come out of the possibly imaginary spark between them? Will they even survive?

Summary
The nephilim were unkillable, because they couldn't get sick and couldn't be touched. That was one of the basic certainties in the Shadow World. They were a safe bet to call upon when in danger, even if a bit too ignorant and full of themselves.
Magnus had worked with them and spoken to them, rolled his eyes at them and occasionally engaged in verbal sparring. Nothing more, as they belonged in their own little closed off world.
He never planned to end up learning one's true name.
Neither did he know what he was supposed to do with it.
(The premise is very loosely inspired by a concept from The Inheritance Cycle book series)

the day has finally came for Stiles to come to to Magnus and Alec's place for the warlock to babysit him , Both Alec and Stiles have been looking forward to this all week. Both littles always love playing and hanging out with each other when they meet up or just have the time to see one another with their partners. Sometimes Alec will curl one his wings around Stiles while they are cuddling or napping together and Magnus's heart melts every time to the point he takes a picture and sends it to the group chat he and his friends are in.( Stiles's pack aka the McHale pack and Lucian's pack that just contains Magnus , Alec , Izzy , Jace , Simon , Raphael , Clary , and a few werewolves i honestly forgot the names of)
It has been a while since the two had a playdate so nether caregivers would be surprised if the littles would fall to the ground hugging each other , it definitely wouldn't be the first or last name that's for sure.

Alec immediately regrets the instinctive shift of his feathers, knowing how many Downworld throats have been slit open on nephilim wings, knowing how many times Magnus and his council must have seen that happen. But what’s done is done and moving them back would do nothing. Alec comes to a halt at a respectful distance from the High Warlock and waits. His arrival was without notice and is certainly unwelcome. By both nephilim and Downworld custom the next move belongs to Magnus alone.
“Tell me, Alexander Lightwood,” Magnus begins icily, and it’s no surprise that he knows Alec’s name. “What brings the Head of the New York Institute to my door, unarmed, runes inactive, and completely alone?”

“Humans. Can’t seem to get over themselves and their comfort,” Alec mutters under his breath.
“Totally agreed,” the Demon says, painfully reminding Alec that he is still there. “They perform rituals and sell their souls to find true love when all some of them would need to do is just take a look around them and they would find someone compatible. True love is a scam anyway.”
Alec gives him a sideways look. “You realize my job is based on the concept of true love, right?”
“No, Cupid, your job is based on the concept of compatibility and on Heaven’s will. True love is what people describe as finding that person where you know that they’re yours as soon as you see them. It’s a feeling neither you or I will ever be able to understand, I suppose,” the Demon adds, almost looking sad.

It is Valentine's day and Cupid Alec is hard at work trying to help people meet their fated lovers. But as an Angel and a soldier of Heaven, Alec can never fall in love. Demon Magnus crosses his path on that day and the two find a way to help each other.

The humans that live here and venture outside can still breathe it, but not without difficulty. For Magnus and his companion, both not-entirely-human in entirely different ways, it is even more laborious.
It was a three-day journey to retrieve Alexander and make his way home. The Elders refused to let an outsider know their location, and so Magnus had guided a blinded Alexander slowly through the remains of Earth’s sparse wilderness and to the resistance headquarters.
Now, they sit in the foyer of his childhood residence, exhausted and at the mercy of his mother herself, armed with a spoon.
Unfortunately for Alexander, awkward introductions to his family are perhaps the smallest challenge he'll face today.
