Work Text:

Hizashi was practically vibrating with excitement as he watch his husband dig the old tin lunch box from the back of their closet.

"Fifteen years, baby! " He says in astonishment.

Shouta gives an amused huff at his awe. "I'm surprised you haven't snuck this open. I think this is longest you've ever waited for something."

"Time capsules are serious business, Shouta. It was indeed a struggle, but it's gonna be so worth it! "

When they were sixteen, only a few months into their relationship, Hizashi had slapped down his metal spider man lunch box in front of Shouta.

When all he got was a black stare in response, he explained that they should make a time capsule and open it in fifteen years when they were an old married couple!

They both picked a few things to include but went out of their way not to let the other know, promising they would find out when the time came.

"It'll be a promise to stay together until we can open it. " Hizashi had said when he his his things in a draw string bag.

"What about after? " Shouta asked.

"Well, this stuff will remind us why we want to stay together." Was his easy reply.

Hizashi's idea of old has definitely changed since then and he had forgotten what they put in there. However, his anticipation continued to grow and now here he sat with Shouta on their shared bed, fingers drumming on the cold box.

The blond bounced on the bed a bit before turning to his husband, one hand braced on the clasp closest to him. "You ready? "

Shouta reached for the other so that they could open it together. "Yeah."

The lunch box screached with age, paint just bit faded.

The first thing Shouta reached for was the bag Hizashi had filled. His cheeks hurt from smiling as he watched him tug the string.

Hizashi let out an excited squeek when Shouta pulled out an old cassette tape with his name on it.

"Is this a mix tape? " He asked, his mouth tugging into the tiniest of smiles.

"You bet it is!" The voice hero responded, already standing to move towards the stereo on the dresser. He plucked the tape from the others hands and turned it on to a soft volume.

Hizashi remembers spending hours on that tape.

He sat at his desk, sifting through a list of songs he'd written down. Every good mix tape has a certain vibe for the A side and B side individually. And you always need a bonus track.

He had eventually narrowed it down to eight songs for each side and a bonus track.

Side A was the 'Aizawa' side where Hizashi included songs that specifically reminded him of Shouta.

Side B was the 'Boyfriends' side where he put all the cheesy love songs that were super romantic if he did say do himself.

The bonus track was their song. The song Shouta had signed for him.

That masterpiece was definitely worth the loss of sleep that night. Even if he had to wait fifteen years for his boyfriends reaction.

"Set the mood for the rest of our stuff." He states and plops back down on the bed.

"Okay okay, your turn." Shouta says passing the other bag to Hizashi.

"Righto!" He reaches in and grasps a slightly wrinkled square of paper. When he pulls his hand out of the bag he's hit with a wave of emotions at the Polaroid he sees.

He remembers taking it with a sudden clarity and he can't believe he didn't notice it was missing.

Hizashi had been bugging Shouta that whole day, begging for just one smile for the picture.

"Please, babe! It'll be so cool!" He pleaded to his tired boyfriend.

"What do you need a picture for anyways?" The shorter boy asked as he all but power walked away from the other.

"So we can look back on memories and stuff! " The blond exclaimed as he stumbled after his boyfriend.

"Why does it have to be so cheesy though? Just take a picture of how we normally are."

"How we normally are isn't the same as we are when we're together! It's different. I don't know. Please! " Hizashi almost walks into Shouta when he stops suddenly.

"Fine. But I get to keep it." He says turning towards the other teen.

"What? Why? "

"Well why should you get to keep it?"

Hizashi presses his lips together and concedes when he can't think of a valid answer. "Alright, alright! You better smile though."

"Babe! " hizashi whispers, choking up at the picture of the two pressed into each others side.

Shouta looked tiny with the tallers arm around his shoulder. Hizashi had a big lopsided grin and stared straight at the camera, focused on including their hands in the picture. Right at the bottom you could see them coming together to form a hand heart and it was so cheesy but it was cute okay!

What made Hizashi's heart swell with affection though, was the soft and downright smitten smile Shouta had while looking at HIM instead of the camera.

Shouta lets a joyful little laugh bubble out of his mouth at his husbands reaction to the picture.

"We're only on the second thing, 'Zashi! "

"I just, remember everything! I can't believe I forgot about this stuff." Hizashi rasps and wipes at a tear that rolls down his cheek.

"You good to keep going? " Shouta asks and leans into the other mans side.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm not sad. I'm really happy! It's like, I get to relive all this stuff. It's wild that we've just, always been happy with each other."

"Well I'm gonna keep going then. " Shouta says and Hizashi pulls his husband closer with every item. Every memory makes him fill with a new wave of affection.

They take out the movie ticket stubs from their first date and Hizashi remembers being so nervous he didn't stop whispering to the other until half way through the movie when Shouta slipped his hand into Hizashi's.

Next is their wilted corsages from when they went to their first dance. Hizashi buffs a laugh when he remembers how awkward they both were. They left early to go get ice cream.

All of their firsts.

By the time they emptied the old lunch box, Hizashi had pulled Shouta into his lap and buried his face in his neck.

"You were right." Shouta says.

"Hmm? " Hizashi asks without moving.

"All this stuff. I thought it was weird at the time but now. It's... Nice to be reminded about all these experiences."

"So you got reminded why you keep me around? " Hizashi laughs.

"I know why I keep you around. It's just nice to know my reasons haven't changed."

Hizashi lifts his head to yell. "Awww!! I make you happyyyyyy! " He teases.

Shouta chuckles out a quiet "yeah, yeah." as the other blows a raspberry on his reddening cheek. "The tape is good."

"It's okay, baby. You make me happy too. Always have. I loooooove you."

Shouta turns his head to peck the other man on the mouth. "I love you too, 'Zashi."

Notes:

Hey I rushed this again. It's fluffy. As you can see I keep picking the happy prompts cuz I'm a little bitch that doesn't like sad things.
