Chapter 1: First Time
Chapter Text
Their first time sharing a bed was awkward. To be perfectly honest, it wasn’t actually their first time. As children they had shared a bed plenty of times, even showers and baths. But this was different. They were different because now they were dating. Being kids sharing a sleeping space is a completely different situation than sharing with your significant other which, wow, each time Izuku thinks on it he still can’t believe it’s real, their relationship.
That night had been movie night for class 1-A, a tradition that had been put into place not long after moving into the dorms. Their classmates had been all for it when Momo had suggested it as a bonding experience since they were likely going to work together for the next few years and needed to be comfortable together. Well, all but Bakugou who just snorted and said it was lame, but somehow always ended up sitting on the couch or floor watching along with everyone else. Since starting their relationship a few months before he had taken to grabbing Izuku and basically manhandling him to sit in his lap everytime and ‘cuddle’ though Katsuki would likely blow his head off if Izuku ever said that to his face. Izuku had learned that Katsuki was a very...physical person since their first date. He always had an arm around Izuku’s shoulders or his waist and liked to pull him in so that their bodies were parallel, hip to hip. And while not necessarily possessive in the common sense, he didn’t take too lightly to others flirting with Izuku, which was happening more often as his hero career grew traction.
After the movie ended (tonight was Moana which made Izuku cry at least three times prompting Katsuki to call him a wimp) Katsuki had stood and stretched, leaving Izuku to fall flat on the couch where he had been leaned up on his chest (which, rude Kacchan) Katsuki brushed off Izuku’s minor whining and announced that they were going to bed before grabbing Izuku by the wrist and practically dragging him behind him towards the rooms. “K-Kacchan! My room is back that way!” Izuku stuttered, but didn’t try getting away. Katsuki glanced over his shoulder for a second before shrugging. “I know. You’re sleeping in my room tonight.” Izuku felt his face heat up instantly and started stuttering nervously while Katsuki just rolled his eyes. “Shut up nerd, it’s just sleeping. Don’t make a big deal out of it, I just didn’t feel like sleeping alone tonight.” Katsuki’s voice was its usual harsh tone, but Izuku could see his ears turning pink and his heart fluttered.
Upon entering the room, Izuku took the small time window he had to glance around the room, finding himself a bit surprised. Katsuki’s room was surprisingly organized for someone with such a hectic personality. His clothes were all neatly stacked away into his closet and dresser with a hamper for dirty clothes. He had a white, simple desk where school books and what looked like reference materials sat neatly divided.There were a few personal touches here and there, Izuku spotting one picture of the Bakugou family on the desk. And right there on the nightstand next to the bed was a snapshot of he and Katsuki when they were younger. It was a cute shot with both boys in identical All Might onesie pajamas. Izuku didn’t think Katsuki would have kept that one, but seeing it shot a bolt of happiness through Izuku.
A shirt hitting his face broke Izuku’s gaze with an indignant squak, arms flailing to grasp the cloth. “You can sleep in that tonight, but don’t expect it every time Deku.” Katsuki’s muttered and Izuku looked down to examine the shirt. He saw the face of his mentor All Might smiling up at him, a backdrop of fireworks and the words “Plus Ultra!” plastered on the top and bottom in stark red and blue lettering. It was...interesting. Definitely something that would be manufactured for All Might memorabilia. Izuku glanced up at Katsuki and squeaked in alarm at seeing the other boy shirtless, flipping around quickly. “Shit Deku, you act like you’ve never seen a shirtless guy before.” Katsuki grumbled and Izuku felt really stupid. He was overreacting he knew, but he couldn't help it. Katsuki wasn’t just a shirtless boy, he was his shirtless boyfriend. The boyfriend he was about to lay down with and sleep through the night.
Gathering his nerve Izuku threw his shirt off and hastily pulled the other on then, with a moment of hesitation, removed his pants so that he was only in the shirt and his All Might boxers. The shirt was pretty big on him, coming down to his knees and Izuku wondered where Katsuki had gotten it from. When his back was turned he discreetly breathed in the scent on the shirt. It smelt of smoke and a hint of Katsuki’s cologne and Izuku felt a bit giddy because he loved Katsuki’s cologne. Hearing a rustling noise, Izuku turned to see Katsuki turning down the bed and crawling in before looking at Izuku expectantly. “Gonna stand there all night or are you gonna get in?” He sneered and Izuku approached the bed, standing uncertainly about how they were going to do this. Katsuki rolled his eyes, pulling back a section of the blankets and glared at Izuku pointedly until the other climbed in. The two laid there for a few minutes both stiff and awkward with neither really knowing what to do. Katsuki shifted a bit so that he was a little closer to Izuku and lifted his arm up. Izuku looked confused until Katsuki grunted in exasperation and finally wrapped his arm around Izuku and dragged him partially onto his chest. Izuku finally got the picture, wriggling until he got a comfortable spot with his head on Katsuki’s chest.
And oh wow this was nice and geez Kacchan was so warm and his heartbeat was right under Izuku’s ear and did Kacchan normally have his body temperature this high? Could this be a side effect of his quirk maybe? He should ask him, that would be useful for his notebooks. And while he was at it he should ask about the smoke smell that clung to his clothes. Were they always like that? Could it be washed out? Did it only happen when he used his quirk or did it-!
A light tap of a fist on Izuku’s head startled him. “Stop your creepy ass mumbling and go to bed.” Katsuki mumbled and Izuku flushed again as Katsuki’s hand settled in his hair, the other reaching over to grasp his hand lying on Katsuki’s sternum. It was nice. Izuku was already feeling drowsy, his contentedness at being so close to Katsuki, breathing in his smoky scent was lulling him down to darkness. Usually Izuku had a hard time sleeping, his mind always running a million miles a minute, but right now he felt like he could sleep for a year no problem. When Katsuki started petting, (petting!) his hair Izuku was gone. He had never fallen asleep so fast in his life.
~~~
Izuku woke up, groggy and a bit disoriented, unable to pinpoint his surroundings. He could tell it wasn’t morning yet, but had no clue what time it was. All he knew was that he was still very sleepy, he was so warm and that someone was holding him, holy crow SOMEONE WAS HOLDING HIM! Izuku’s first instinct was to try to dislodge himself, but when he inhaled he caught the distinct smoky, gunpowder type of scent that only belonged to one person he knew. After a minute of confusion he remembered that he was in Katsuki’s arms. Being held by Katsuki. Very tightly he might add, though not uncomfortably. At some point the two had rolled over so that Katsuki was spooned up behind Izuku, practically glued chest to back. One arm was wrapped across Izuku’s stomach, towards his diaphragm and the other was wrapped around his neck. He was being held firm, but not in a choking sense. Actually it was rather...nice. There was also one leg thrown over his hip and the other wrapped around the bottom part of his legs, effectively pinning him to the bed. But he liked the way Katsuki’s arms encased him, his whole body covering him as if to shield him in a way.
Izuku hummed low in his throat and swore he heard a reciprocal hum from the still sleeping Katsuki. Placing one hand gently on the arm covering his stomach Izuku closed his eyes and fell back to sleep, Katsuki pulling him just a little bit tighter to his body in response to the other going lax. That night, both boys slept better than they had for years.
Chapter Text
The first time Kacchan threw him while they were sleeping Izuku almost used One For All thinking he was being attacked. They had been sharing a bed every night they could (if Aizawa-sensei caught wind of this they were sure he would place them in dorms on complete opposite ends of the school) for the past two months. Though Izuku knew Katsuki was clingy in his sleep, this was a whole different level. Normally Katsuki would lay down with Izuku, one hand typically wrapped around Izuku’s chest and the other around his waist. At some point though, it always changed to Kacchan wrapping one arm around his upper stomach towards his diaphragm and the other holding his neck, both tight enough to be nearly suffocating. However for Izuku, someone who knew he could easily break out of the hold if needed, it felt secure. Safe.
So when he wakes in the dead of night to someone lifting him in the air he almost panics. He wakes when he’s halfway around, facing the ceiling and feels One For All gathering in his hands in preparation to break something. When he ends up being slammed into the mattress facing the opposite direction he had fallen asleep in he’s able to take a second and calm his wildly beating heart. It takes a minute but Izuku figured out what happened. At some point Kacchan, who was still sleeping soundly the lucky jerk, had decided to roll over. And since he had a such a solid grip on Izuku, his roll had full-body lifted Izuku and rolled him at the same time. Izuku actually found it impressive that he could do this and still remain asleep, and kept the same grip on Izuku without breaking it. That said something about Katsuki’s strength.
Izuku started settling down with the intention of going back to sleep when he noticed something. Kacchan was really tense behind him, and his hands kept clenching and unclenching. Oh. Oh! Kacchan was having a nightmare. That’s why he was so restless tonight. Nightmares were definitely not a foreign concept to Izuku. As a kid he had nightmares about his quirklessness, then as he grew it became nightmares of the bullying he endured, with Katsuki usually front and center. Now his nightmares still usually featured Katsuki but in a different way. Seeing him dead, body broken and lying on the cold floor of wherever the dream took place. It was disturbing to say the least and he had woken many times to tears streaming from his eyes in silent sobs. There were other nightmares as well, Ochako floating off into space, unable to control her quirk or Iida being in a car wreck when he isn't even driving a car and only using his quirk which...okay those were admittedly odd but still. He had nightmares about All Might and his eventual death, his mother passing away, other classmates and even teachers befalling twisted fates. And though he hadn’t seen the man in almost two decades and only knew what he looked like thanks to photos, rarely he would have nightmares about his father Hisashi. He supposed that being a hero, nightmares just came with the territory.
With a bit of wiggling (and maybe one percent of One For All) Izuku managed to maneuver his hand under Kacchan’s and lace their fingers together over his diaphragm, rubbing his thumb over Kacchan’s knuckles soothingly. After a few minutes of this Katsuki’s body loosens a bit and Izuku blushed as Katsuki nuzzled at the back of his neck. “Hmm, Deku what are you doing awake?” Katsuki’s voice was low and drowsy, but the irritated growl was unmistakable. Izuku rolled his eyes, but there was a smile on his face. “You were having a nightmare Kacchan. Just go back to sleep.” Izuku whispered and fought the urge to giggle as a puff of breath rolled over his neck. “Hm yeah. You okay? No fucking villains attacking tonight?” Katsuki asked and Izuku was extremely puzzled. It was probable that Katsuki wasn’t entirely awake and just kind of babbling what came into his mind. It was pretty...cute actually but Izuku valued his life more than he wanted to point this out. “No Kacchan, we’re safe.” Katsuki growled and yanked Izuku in towards him again. “Not us, you. Stupid Deku. Always jumping in, getting hurt. Shouldn’t do that. Makes me worry.” Izuku flushed deeply, realization hitting him like a brick. Kacchan had a nightmare about Izuku being hurt which was, wow he actually worried about him? Izuku almost hoped Katsuki wouldn’t remember this in the morning. He knew the other boy would be embarrassed, probably set off a few ill-timed explosions. Izuku just wanted to keep this for himself.
“I’m fine Kacchan. No villains, no injuries, I’m right here with you.” Izuku whispered and he felt Katsuki sigh. “Good.” Katsuki whispered and Izuku felt him place a gentle kiss on the side of his neck before settling down again and falling back to sleep. Izuku was pretty sure his face was about to melt off from the heat he could radiating off himself. After calming his wildly beating heart Izuku shuffled until he was comfortable again. Feeling warm and content, Izuku fell back to sleep, holding Katsuki’s hand all the while.
Katsuki would throw Izuku everytime he had a nightmare, sometimes almost completely off the bed, but he was always there. Ready to soothe the boy and ease him back into calmness. Or as calm as Katsuki every truly was. And if Kacchan were to wake up in the middle of the night and soothe Izuku through his own nightmares, kissing his tears away until they were gone and the muttering of 'Kacchan' faded off...well. It wasn't something that needed to be discussed.
Notes:
This one is a lot shorter but this idea was actually what started this whole fic. The idea of Katsuki rolling over and just throwing Izuku to the other side lol.
Chapter Text
Being a superhero was very active work as to be expected. If you weren’t on a mission you were normally training. And in the case of U.A if you weren’t training you were usually doing schoolwork or some other school related activity such as internship, promotional ads, etc. So there typically wasn’t a lot of downtime in their hectic lifestyle, but it was the life they had chosen no matter how insane or tiring Izuku and Katsuki wouldn’t change or regret anything. However, on the rare occasions they do have downtime even then they usually still did personal training.
But not today.
Today Katsuki had found it appropriate to wrestle Izuku onto the living room couch and cage him in, grumbling about dark circles and taking better care of himself. Today Katsuki seems to have taken it upon himself to force a nap on Izuku. And usually Izuku would refuse and wiggle his way out of Katsuki’s hold. Today though...well Izuku has to admit it feels nice. Katsuki was acting as his own personal blanket, covering him from head to toe with his arms and legs. And Katsuki was always just so warm that it filled Izuku with a sense of such content that who was he to fight it? And even though Katsuki was only a scant few inches taller, when he’s pushed into the couch with Katsuki practically lying on top of him, one leg thrown completely over Izuku’s hip and one between his legs tangling their feet with both arms completely wrapped around him well...he was hard-pressed to say no.
The rest of class 1-A was out and about, using this time to visit family or go see a movie, go to the mall, etc. So Izuku figured they had a couple hours at least to get a good nap in. He was a pretty light sleeper so he was certain that if anyone came in he would at least hear the door open. With this in mind Izuku let himself sink down into blissful unawareness. He couldn’t have anticipated just how peaceful it would be. So peaceful in fact that when Momo came back to the dorms after a day out shopping, neither boy even so much as twitched.
Momo was walking into the kitchen to put her leftover cake from lunch in the fridge when she spotted what looked like Bakugou sleeping on the couch. His back was facing her and she cautiously approached. It was abnormal to see Bakugou sleeping at all, the boy preferred to sleep only in his room and she was curious if he had an angry sleeping face as well. She peered over his shoulder and was shocked to see that Bakugou’s face was actually rather peaceful. Gone was the typical scowl, the furrow between his eyebrows. In their place was smooth skin (flawless actually, could that be a side effect of his quirk? She’d have to remember to ask Deku later.) that seemed completely untroubled for once and oh! Was that Deku?
When she looked closer she realised that yes, Deku was there but you could barely see him since Bakugou was covering nearly his entire body with his own. And while it looked somewhat claustrophobic to her own personal tastes, she had to admit it was rather cute sight. Like an angry koala bear gripping its tree, hissing when others came too close. And Izuku himself seemed to be pretty okay with it if the soft sounds of his breathing was anything to go by. So Momo decided she had stalked the two quite enough. Seeing the two so peaceful was making her a bit drowsy as well but before that…
Momo concentrated on her quirk, conjuring up what she wanted in her mind. She imagined a long, fluffy bright yellow (for All Might of course) blanket that was as soft as she could make it, then popped it out of her sternum for inspection. Damn she was good. She softly laid the blanket atop the slumbering couple, tucking in the sides a bit. Then she conjured a sign that read ‘Quiet when entering please!’ and placed it on the outside of the main entrance door. When she accomplished everything she wanted she placed her cake in the fridge and headed to her own room, yawning all the while.
~~
On his way back to the dorms Kirishima happened to meet up with Denki, who was coming back from visiting family. Kirishima was excitedly showing Denki the new game he got at the shop and the two boys started racing up the stairs, eager to try it out. When they got to the door however, Denki noticed a sign and managed to stop Kirishima before he crashed through the door with his usual force and flair. “Look bro! It says ‘Quiet when entering please!’ I think Momo is sleeping inside.” Kirishima looked more carefully before nodding. “You’re right dude. Let’s just slip in then. I bet she’s in her room so we’ll just play in the living room so we don’t disturb her. I think that should be far away that the noise won’t wake her.” The two nodded before very carefully opening the door and inching their way inside. Everyone in 1-A has learned through force that Momo is not the type to appreciate being woken up when she wants to sleep. For any reason.
The two made their way to the living room, Kirishima swiping the tv remote from the kitchen counter on the way. After hooking up the game station they settled in front of the floor in front of the couch and turned it on. As the opening animatic played Denki heard an odd noise behind him, a sort of...snuffling noise. Turning his head, a wash of ice cold dread came over him. “Hey...HEY!” Denki was whispering as quietly as he could while smacking Kirishima on the arm. “Is...is that…?” Kirishima turned to look at what Denki was pointing a shaky finger at and tapped down the urge to scream. “Oh shit, Bakugou!” If anyone was scarier in the morning than Momo it was definitely Katsuki. While his normal disposition was typically off-putting, even Kirishima avoided the other in the mornings. The only person who would willingly initiate conversation with Katsuki after waking was Izuku, and that only worked because the two were dating. And even then it was very hesitant and barely tolerated.
“Ok. Ok let’s just move very quietly and...hey what’s that next to him?” As Denki and Kirishima stood to move to a safer zone, Denki had glanced something sticking out from under Bakugou’s arm. “Woah is that...Deku? Is it? I can’t see except a little bit of green.” Kirishima leaned over, trying to get a better vantage point. “Woah, he really has a death grip on him. Should...should we do something? I mean he is really latched onto Deku’s neck.” They shared a glance, both uncertain on how to proceed. On the one hand, they knew certain death awaited anyone who tried to separate Katsuki from Izuku. On the other, it genuinely looked like Katsuki was squeezing Izuku to death in his sleep and they worried for his health. While they quietly debated whether or not losing their hands would end their hero career, more students were entering.
Iida, Ochako, and Todoroki were quietly entering, taking heed of the sign on the door, when they spotted Denki and Kirishima looking at something on the couch. “What’s wrong?” Kirishima jumped and let out a decidedly unmanly squeal, falling backwards as Ochako approached. He immediately shot back to his feet, eyes glued to the couch as he froze in fear before eventually relaxing and letting out a sigh of relief. “Oh thank god he didn't wake up. Don’t sneak up up on me like that!” Kirishima hissed and Ochako held her hands up in acquiescence. “Sorry, I just wanted to know what has you two all scared.” Ochako glanced at the couch and rolled her eyes. “Oh, it’s Bakugou. No wonder. We should just let him sleep since we don’t want him to explode everything in sight with one of his ‘wake up moods’ do we?” Kirishima nodded but Denki was rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. “Well, you see, that was the plan but-!”
“He’s choking out Deku.” Todoroki’s droll voice cut through the quiet atmosphere, and all inhabitants of the room turned their attention to the couch. “What-that’s-Where?” Iida practically threw himself over the back end of the couch trying to see. “Right there, see Deku’s hair?” Denki pointed out and they all managed to see a tiny bit of curly hair under Katsuki’s body. Ochako whistled in shock, stating in a somewhat impressed voice, “Man he’s really nestled in there. And what’s with this gaudy blanket?” She gestured toward the bright yellow blanket covering the two. “All Might colored. I bet it’s Deku’s.” Todoroki muttered, before promptly grabbing Katsuki’ visible bicep and yanking wholeheartedly, prompting Denki and Kirishima to both jump back in preparation for the upcoming explosions. But none were forthcoming, no shouts of anger, no destructive forces coming at them for daring to awaken a slumbering beast. In fact, neither boy even so much as twitched.
“Huh.” Todoroki took a step back, a contemplative look on his face as he tried to think of a way to help Deku escape Katsuki’s death grip. “This is rather uncouth if I must say. Not only sleeping together in the same space, but out in the open for anyone to come along and see such an intimate moment. As well as Bakugou holding Deku!” Iida was shaking his head, but it didn’t stop him from discreetly taking a picture to send to Izuku later. “Here, I got it.” Ochako touched the pads of her fingers together before slapping Katsuki’s arm and activating her quirk. The boy started floating, the motion waking him up enough that Deku, who had floated a bit as well, fell back to the couch and jerked awake. When he gained a bit more consciousness Katsuki did what came naturally to him and set off some explosions in anger. Which in turn sent him cartwheeling across the room uncontrollably. “WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK YOU FUCKING ASSHOLES! DIE YOU BASTARDS!” Ochako just shrugged and pressed her fingers together again, releasing her quirk. Katsuki crashed to the ground in the kitchen but immediately sprung to his feet and approached the other students, screaming at them angrily.
Iida was checking on Izuku, asking if he felt light-headed or like there was any bruising on his neck from where Katsuki had been holding, but the other ignored him. He had been sleeping so well, better than he usually did and now he was...grumpy. He was grumpy and still mostly asleep! He just wanted to go back to sleep, so he did the only thing he could think of. He stood up, cross the room and grabbed Katsuki by the wrist. Then he lead the other boy back to the couch and flipped him onto the couch. Then before the other had a chance to get up to continue his tirade Izuku grabbed the yellow blanket, (where had that come from anyway?) cocooned himself in it and laid back down on Katsuki’s chest. Now he was the one who was being the aggressive cuddler, trying to cover as much of Katsuki's body with own. “Go awaaaay. I like the way Kacchan holds me.” He moaned, and a few seconds later he was back to sleeping. Never mind the completely red, but smug face of his boyfriend or the mortified reactions of his friends. Katsuki flipped off his classmates then rolled over so that his back was to them once more, taking Izuku with him, almost entirely encasing him in his body just as before. “I’m just gonna...yeah. Sorry Deku.” Ochako whispered and, after snapping a discreet picture on her phone snuck off to her room to text Froppy about the adorable scene that just happened in their living room. “As long as Deku is fine with it. I’m gonna go see if there’s any cookies left.” Todoroki shrugged and made his way to the kitchen in search of food with Iida not far behind him lecturing about healthy eating habits. “We can play in my room.” Denki whispered and Kirishima nodded, gathering the game and console. They resolutely ignored the pair of shining eyes peering out of Momo's room promising retribution if peace was not restored so she could continue slumbering.
The rest of the students returned throughout the day but most knew to leave well enough alone, so it was towards night when the two teens finally woke of their own accord. Deku was abashed and apologized profusely to the others who of course graciously accepted, insisting there was no need. Katsuki just told them to ‘mind their fucking business’ next time, prompting another round of apologies from Izuku on behalf of his boyfriend. Tsuyu called for a movie night and got enthusiastic replies. So as they settled down to watch Wreck-It-Ralph (‘Why am I not surprised Bakugou would like this movie?’ ‘Shut it shitty half and half!’) Izuku nestled down into Katsuki’s lap, the two sharing an armchair. Katsuki wrapped his arms around Izuku and kissed his forehead when no one was watching, pulling a quiet giggle from Izuku.
And things were good.
Notes:
This all started after I told my friend I envisioned Katsuki as being a very aggressive cuddler and it just spiraled down from there.
