CHAPTER 1 - PROLOGUE AND THE BEGINNING

Since this story had an instant number of kudos, I decided to work on this and post the first chapters so that the readers will be happy.

This story happens after the Attack On Titan ‘No Regrets’ and Levi and Erwin respected each other as partners, comrades, and friends.  This follows the anime series but canon-divergence.

PROLOGUE

There are so many mysteries and unsolved questions about the Titans who took over the world and have long been eating humans.

Though some managed to escape from them and that they are safe behind massive stone and concrete walls, there are still people who wonder about where the Titans came from, how did they get there, and everything?

Little did they know, that another mystery will come.

One that will surprisingly appear out of nowhere.

One that it is something that you would never expect.

One that is so shocking that you weren’t prepared for it.

One that is so amazing that you would want to grasp for it.

For this one…it is that it might be the last hope for all of Humanity.

And that is because of this one…it is against the Titans.

CHAPTER 1 - THE BEGINNING

As the Scouts went out of the massive great Walls on another expedition to the world beyond, the brave and suicidal people didn’t know that they were being watched.

And their observer is watching from the shadows, beneath the massive Titan-sized trees from about 30-60 feet tall in a deep dark forest.

This one is a Titan.

It looked to be like the usual Titans that you can see, very tall and high in the size and height of about 15-16 feet.  

But this is no ordinary Titan that you would see and know, with their deformed bodies and sometimes abnormal or skinless types.

This one…is a Female Titan.

One that looked to be like a normal human female with her body completely smooth-skinned and good curved feminine features and she has shoulder-length blonde hair and golden predator-like sharp eyes.

But what also made this Titan unique and different from the other Titans, is that this one’s whole skin of her body is armored.

Though at the first glance, it looked to be normal human-like skin, when given a hit or punch or scratch from another Titan, it has strong armor which doesn’t give a bent from the impact, no matter how big or small.

Even a bulky 20-30 meter strong Titan wouldn’t be able to make a crack into the female Titan’s armor.

Next is that its whole being is made to be a predator, with its speed, swiftness, and fierceness.  The female Titan’s ferocity is so fearsome that it’s like you’re dealing with a type of Abnormal Titan with animal-like characteristics, like that of a feline and canine.

Lastly, what added in the special features of this unique female Titan, it is that it has sharp nails curved into lethal claws and her eyes with predator-like cat slits on them while being angered or on a hunt, and her ears are long and pointed like a fantasy elf, and the pointed ears move like an animal’s as well.

This Titan is truly unique and special, with its gender and features.

And there will be more that is going to be added to the mystery about this Titan.

For the Titan that was observing the Scouts leaving the Walls and following them, it will soon make a move that will shock and amaze them with its sudden appearance and presence.

And then they will be so amazed by her actions that they will never forget them.

And the Scouts will be so awed by her that it is something that they won’t be able to comprehend beyond their very understanding about the Titans they have usually encountered.

“Commander! Three 5-6 meter Titans coming at us at the left side dead ahead!” one of the Scout soldiers yelled, riding on a horse beside his leader.

The leader of the expedition and commander of the Scouts is Erwin Smith.

He is the new commander heading the military unit that is tasked to explore the world beyond the Walls and eliminate Titans outside it.

Even though he knew that this military unit has the highest casualty and death rate, it didn’t stop him from wanting to find out the answers to the mysteries from the world outside the walls and searching for discoveries that would give him answers as well.

They use horses and horse-pulling wagons and carts to ride and travel the dangerous Titan-infested lands.

Right now, Erwin turned his head slightly to gaze far ahead and saw the mentioned Titans reported by one of his soldiers in his group approaching slowly towards them.

It can only be fortunate among his soldiers that after a few hours of riding far away leaving the Walls, they would encounter slow-moving man-eating giants in their expedition.

But Erwin felt that this might be a bad omen for all of them, even though it’s just a gut feeling.

He turned to one of his loyal comrades and trusted friends riding the other side from him and he is Mike Zacharias, a soldier with a unique sharp sense of smell like a blood-hound dog.

“Mike, are those the only Titans?” he asked, trusting him that he would ‘smell’ more.

Mike gave deep sniffs in the air and he frowned grimly which made the ominous gut feeling in Erwin come true.

“No.  About 6 more Titans are coming after us behind the three,” he responded. “Except these six are faster than the first ones. I can’t tell if any of them are abnormal types or not.”

“Damn…should we go and execute them, Commander?” asked another one of Erwin’s trusted comrades and he is Corporal Levi, a highly-skilled titan-slayer and a former thug from the Underground of the Walls.

Commander Erwin shook his head. “We’ll take them on at the Titan Forests.  I don’t want to risk more casualties on our group here in the plains, even with the recruits we have.  Send out the smoke signals, Levi.”

Levi didn’t agree with this idea but he trusted him as his commander and friend and he gestured towards his squad members to shoot up the signals from the smoke guns the Scouts always bring to signal the other groups of the Scouts' expedition whenever and wherever they separated.

One of his squadmates, a female soldier named Petra shot out a smoke trail of red and yellow, signaling to the other groups that their group is heading towards the Titan Forest to fight the Titans that are approaching and following after them.

Little did they know, that once they approached the Titan Forest filled with Titan-sized massive tall trees, they will be having the most shocking encounter they’re going to remember for the rest of their lives.

Upon reaching the Titan forests and all of the Scouts went flying into the trees with their maneuver gear, what they thought that they’ll be dealing against a few Titans had grown in number into 15 to 20 of the massive giants and some of them ambushed a few of the Scouts and about three had perished instantly being eaten by them.

The others that got caught by the Titans managed to escape and kill the Titans trying to catch and eat them, but then some got injured and wounded while trying to evade the gigantic monsters.

Erwin cursed as he dodged a large hand swooping for him and he flew to perch on a high branch and look over the grim view before him.

Levi came flying and stood beside him, scowling fiercely at what he was seeing as well.

“They’re getting too many.  It’s going to be hell trying to kill them all, Commander,” he said with a slight snarl, hating the carnivorous monsters. “At this rate, we won’t be able to make it out of here alive, even with limbs attached.”

Erwin cursed again to himself as he couldn’t believe how his plan got doomed to fail.  He knew that there was no other choice as he began ordering, “Call for a retreat immediately, we need to--!”

“HEY! LOOK OUT!”

“WHOA! WHAT THE HELL!?”

“WHERE DID SHE COME FROM?!”

Both Erwin and Levi blinked upon hearing one of the soldiers' shouts.

She?

They turned and saw much to their eye-widening shock, that a 15-meter-tall Titan appeared out of nowhere into the forests.

But what shocked them it is that this Titan just attacked the other Titans that were attacking the human soldiers.

And what’s more, it is that this Titan is a Female.

“What…the…Hell!?” Levi exclaimed wide-eyed stunned which is a first from the blank and stoic-faced Corporal and Humanity’s Strongest Soldier.

Both Levi Ackerman and Erwin Smith stared with wide eyes and they are both shocked as well as the other soldiers who have escaped from the Titans and perched on the trees, as they all watched the stunning spectacle of this newly-discovered Titan fighting and killing the other Titans.

“It’s--it’s attacking its kind!?”

“The Titan’s a girl!”

“What the heck is up with that Titan?!”

“Is it an Abnormal?”

All of the soldiers that are safe in the trees said and talked to one another, conversing about this strange unusual Titan that just appeared to save the day literally for them and they couldn’t help but be in awe and also scared of this discovery they have encountered in this expedition.

Mike Zacharias came to Erwin’s side while still watching the Female Titan.

“Commander, what do we do?” he asked, not knowing how to deal with this. “Should we…execute it?”

Commander Erwin just gazed at the Titan as if it became the answer to his prayers.  He watched it with eyes narrowed in intense observation before he decided and said. “We watch it for now.  So far, it’s not going after any of our Scouts.  We wait until it finished killing the other Titans and decide on how it acts towards us.”

Levi frowned and looked at him seriously. “Are you sure that’s a good idea? What if this Titan bitch is just killing them to win for food?”

Erwin shook his head in a negative, getting a gut feeling again that this isn’t the case with this particular female giant. “Even if what you say is true Levi, then it should have grabbed one of the soldiers while fighting against the others.  But from what I can see, it’s doing nothing of that.  We just wait and watch it until--”

“AAH! HELP ME!”

“KAREN!”

“YOU BASTARD! LET HER GO!”

The superiors of the Scouts instantly turned upon hearing the yelling and saw that one of the soldiers got captured by a stray Titan.

A female recruit was distracted and didn’t see one of the Titans grab for her when she was watching the Female Titan fight.

The new scout recruit tried to break free from the Titan’s grip but it was all in vain as it slowly brought her towards its open mouth.

Her comrades were about to fly to rescue her but the Female Titan beat them to the punch literally.

The Female Titan suddenly came and grabbed the Titan’s head and slammed it face-first hard against the tree, stopping it from eating the human and did it more times while grabbing its wrist with her other hand and twisting it as if to make the Titan’s grip break open to free the human it captured.

They were all stunned as they witnessed this and they discovered much more to their amazement when another Titan saw the free meal being displayed it went to them with its mouth open like a fish going for its prey but it got kicked hard right at its face with the Female Titan’s foot.

It fell on its back stunned and the Female Titan growled as it twisted the grip of the Titan more, making the face-slammed giant moan in pain and its hand finally opened, letting the human fall from its big hand.

The female soldier cried as she fell but she was instantly caught by the Female Titan’s same hand she used to get her free.

They watched dumbfounded as the Female Titan slowly and gently raised her hand with the stunned female human on her palm up to the tree’s highest branch she could reach and tilted her hand as if to nudge her off.

It took a few seconds for the small human to snap out of her stunned stupor when the Female Titan huffed at her to get off and it did with shaky steps and the Female Titan drop her gentle and kind featured pretenses and slammed the Titan again at the tree before she did a body throw-over maneuver move that shocked the Female Titan’s audience.

She threw the Titan right at the Titan she kicked down on the ground, and with the two lying dazed, she instantly attacked with her sharp claws and went for the napes, killing them both instantly.

There were only 3 Titans left, all ranging from one fast-type Abnormal to two slow-type ones.

But the Female Titan didn’t go at them and she did something that shocked the Scouts once more.

She positioned herself into a fighting stance, her fists up and one footstep back behind in a ready pose.

The hell?! Where did she learn that!?

Levi thought to himself shocked out of his mind as he stared at the Female Titan posing like that.

It took a split-second for the last Titans to react with the Abnormal going at her first and it lunged at her like a madman but the Female Titan seemed to anticipate this and she did a sharp round-kick right at the side of its head, sending it flying into a tree headfirst with a hard blow, almost knocking the tree’s occupants off.

Then the two slow-moving ones followed albeit a little too slow in which the Female Titan decided to take them on first, running at them with claws outstretched behind her like knives at the ready and she swiftly struck right at their weak spots with fast swinging moves from her arms.

The two dropped dead behind her and steamed and just as the Abnormal was about to get its bearings, the Female Titan was already on it and her foot kicked against its head, slamming it again repeatedly against the tree and they watched as she kept on doing it until the Abnormal’s head is nothing but a pulpy steaming mess and the Female Titan didn’t even notice that the tree she’s slamming the Titan against had scouts on them who already fled to another tree so that they wouldn’t fall off.

The Female Titan gave one last hard kick against the Titan, putting it out of its misery as she took out the nape and its messed-up head corpse dropped dead and steaming.

Now, there is nothing but a tense silence between them.

The Scouts above on the trees and the Female Titan below on the ground, watching the dead Titans the female has killed melting away in steam.

Levi scowled again and looked at Erwin with a foreboding look in his eyes.

“What now? Do we execute it or not?” he demanded, not liking the idea at all that the Scouts and he are alone with this strange Female Titan right now.

Erwin hesitated a little but the Female Titan seemed to sense the tension and she slowly looked up at them, making the Scouts almost freeze still in their tracks, despite that they were high up in the trees and out of her reach.

As the Female Titan gaze up at them with golden predator-like eyes, he couldn’t help but gaze back at her as if he saw something that is more interesting and mysterious about her that he wanted to know more about.

He didn’t realize that he was at a staring contest with the Titan for a few minutes until Levi shook him out of it.

“Commander, what do we do this thing? Should we execute?” he asked, sounding a little agitated now.

Erwin blinked as if surprised that he’s been caught staring and quickly composed himself back to seriousness.

“No, we should all retreat to the Walls. I don’t think it meant us any harm,” he said. “Even if it did, it wouldn’t have rescued the recruit before like that.”

As if to prove a point, the Female Titan stepped away slowly from them, and then she did something that shocked the Scouts again.

One of her hands raised and covered her nape at the back, shielding and protecting it from harm.

“What the hell?! It’s aware of its weak spot!?” one of the soldiers cried aloud.

“But how does it know that?” another exclaimed.

“Well-duh! It killed the other Titans right at its weak spots, so the chick knows it has one as well and it’s on guard against us.” another soldier retorted.

The Female Titan kept backing away in slow steps as if maintaining a safe distance from the Scouts and showing that she will not hurt them unless they hurt her first.

Erwin finally reached a decision and waved a gesture to the Scouts.

“ALL SCOUTS RETREAT TO THE WALLS! THAT’S AN ORDER!” he shouted to them.

“Yes, commander!”

“Yes, sir!”

So all of the Scouts flew back down to their horses and wagons that were down below and were somehow still intact and unharmed.

They all rode on them while cautiously glancing back at the Female Titan who just stood by far away from them and watched.

Then once everyone is on a horse or a horse-pulling wagon they all rode back to the way they came from and retreated to the Walls.

That was when their day got even stranger and more astounding when a horde of Titans emerged from the Forests and looked about ready to chase after the humans.

But just before the Titan horde was about to go after the retreating Scouts, the Female Titan blocked their way and she suddenly gave out a piercing scream ferociously at them that stopped the whole horde into a sudden stopping standstill and the soldiers that were fleeing couldn’t help but instantly cover their ears with their hands upon hearing the very loud Titan cry.

“OW! SHIT!”

“HOLY MOLY! TOO LOUD!”

“DAMN! THAT GIRL’S GOT ONE PAIR OF TITAN-LUNGS!”

Some of the soldiers cried and complained over their ironic savior who kept on screaming and screeching at the Titan horde so that they wouldn’t chase after the humans.

Erwin flinched on hearing the continued screaming but when he heard that it stopped a little later as they rode on, he couldn’t help but look back, and he turned his head around and glanced behind and he saw that the Female Titan had driven the Titan horde away with her sharp cry and it just stood there by the edge of the Titan Forest.

It had a hand up to place it against one of the trees as the Female Titan just watched them leave with a faraway gaze that seemed to pierce deep into his soul.

From the way it’s looking at them as they left at a faraway distance back to where they came from, the Female Titan seemed to be looking as if it will be waiting for them again when they return.

That is when Commander Erwin decided for himself by the time they returned to the Walls.

On the next expedition, he and the Scouts will be focusing on studying and learning of this new Titan.

Female Titan…that just saved their lives.

CHAPTER 2 - THE FERAL TITAN

After the encounter with that extraordinary female Titan, Commander Erwin started making plans into going through another expedition, except this time the Scouts will be tasked and focused on the studying of this unique Titan.

When Hange Zoe, the scientist and head of the Titan-study department had been reported of their discovery of the special Titan, she became instantly jealous, ranting about loudly that it wasn’t fair she was left behind from the last expedition and she wasn’t there to witness its ferocious carnage fighting display against the other Titans.

Then she became excited, becoming dramatic and crazy on wanting to do close-up studying with the female Titan and thinking of names on what to call it.

Corporal Levi was still silent on the matter and Erwin knew that he was still stunned shocked over what happened, seeing and witnessing it all from when they first saw it.

He felt the same as well and Erwin believed that this Titan is truly special and there is something about her that they needed to discover and uncover about its origins and find out what mysteries she has kept hidden from the humans, especially the Scouts.

Though Levi felt that this was too good to be true and the female Titan might just be messing with them and then stab them in the back once they lower down their guard towards it.

So Levi decided for himself that he’ll be on guard against the female Titan until they learn of its true motives.

It didn’t take long for Commander Erwin to schedule another expedition beyond the gates outside, in the mission to studying this new Titan they have discovered and learn more of its secrets, like the reason being why it only hunts and kills its own kind and also why it seemed harmless to humans, especially when it helped save their lives before.

But all of them didn’t know, especially Corporal Levi, the man known as Humanity’s Strongest…is that this new special Titan…will soon be discovered to be another ally among the Survey Corps, also called the Scout Regiment and the Wings of Freedom…and that surprising shocks will be revealed about this particular female Titan.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the thick forest of gigantic tall trees, known as the Titan Forest, there somewhere in the middle beyond the unknown--lies the dwelling of the mentioned female Titan, that the Scouts were talking about.

But this female Titan is no ordinary Titan at all--which the Scouts might soon discover in their future expedition.

For this one--is a human Titan-shifter.

Basically, an extraordinary human being who can turn and shift into a Titan.

Just as the Titan settled herself, standing near one of the gigantic trees, she looks around for a moment like she’s making sure that there’s no one around, before she raises one of her hands up to her nape and retracted out her claws to scratch the back neck open, to let her human form out.

The female Titan carefully scratched the nape open with three sharp claws and then steam suddenly burst out as the Titan body crumpled to the ground, but not before a female human burst out from the nape with a sound gasp and instantly jumps towards the branch of the tree, right when the steaming Titans fall and crumbles to pieces below her.

The naked woman sighed as she gazed down at the fallen Titan body when it continues steaming until there’s nothing left of it, and then she shivered, her arms crossing to cover her bare body from the cold breeze she’s feeling before she turned to the hidden pack she set aside that has clothes prepared in it. She quickly took out a simple shirt and pants and put them on before she might catch a cold and also a cloak to put more warmth on herself.

After that, she took out two guns and holstered them onto her sides, patting them to make sure that they’re in place before she pulls out the same kind of device, the flying Scouts used, but in a modified improvised version of it. Once she puts on the modified maneuver gear onto her body and strapped it on nice and tight, she finished the ensemble on herself with a big sniper rifle and loop over the strap onto her back before she went off in a flying leap with a swift launching sound from the maneuver gear as she swings like a graceful acrobat among the gigantic trees.

It didn’t take long for her to reach her destination within the deep darkness and beyond the thickness of the forest. And that place hidden deep in the Titan Forests, somewhere in the very heart of it, is a large tree-house.

The man-made house was built high up, almost reaching the top tip of the thickest and largest Titan tree. From another viewpoint, it looked dangerous enough to climb and impossible to reach with standard maneuver gear from the Scouts. And adding with the appearance of the slight nature-mixed building, it almost looks hazardous to live in, judging from the old rickety wood used to make the tree-house.

But it is still the titan-shifting woman’s home. As she is the very one who built it with her own hands, both human and Titan ones.

She swiftly flew into one of the entrances of the tree-house and gracefully lands on her feet upon its surface without making much of a sound creak, then carefully unlatches and removes the modified maneuver gear from herself and places it onto the side by the doorway outside. Then she went inside with her bag carried with one hand, heading straight to one of the table-like cabinets to place it on top there.

This young-looking woman looked around her home a bit like she’s thinking about what to do for the day until a minute later, she finally decided to take out something from her pack and do that instead.

The object she took out, was a simple small book. And it appeared to be a personal diary or journal note-book, as the woman sat down on one of the wooden chairs, settled it by the table, and went on writing a new entry into it after getting a writing pen.

DATE: UNKNOWN, YEAR XXXX

I saw them again. The group of brave humans who venture out from the great Trinity Walls, the ones who were very determined to explore the vast wilderness outside beyond, even with the dangers of the mindless man-eating Titans roaming about.

I have to admit, it was very courageous of them to use every effort they have, into trying to journey the outside world and find other civilizations besides their own people from within the Walls itself.

But as I watch, their efforts went in vain as usual, and I keep wondering why they continue to move on when they end up losing almost a whole entirety and numbers of their people when they die or get devoured by the Titans.

I knew it was a risk of me to expose myself to them. But I couldn’t stand by and watch more of them die. Even if those who die first--were always the new recruits or the untrained ones of the group.

Once I did, I was used to their reactions of shock and bafflement when they saw me, which let me realize they have never seen a female Titan before, and I figured that most of the mindless Titans here had no female types as they have wandered very far from the original source where they were made.

It seemed a bit of a relief for me that they didn’t decide to follow after me, for they had to return back to their Walls when their troops got decimated and had to retreat for another chance of an expedition again if they have it.

I wonder…what’s going to happen when we cross paths the next time? Will they decide to try to reach out to me for a friendly alliance? Or worse…they might decide to kill me because they might think that I’m similar to the other Titans--that I am as dangerous as what I am now…without even given the chance to showing my human side?

After the woman had written that entry and finished it, she closed it and put it back in her bag while sitting silently for a moment in that solitary position before she slowly turned her head to look at a faded broken mirror hanging by one side of the wall of the room she’s in.

She raises her right hand to lightly touch the side of her face like she’s thinking deeply about her humanity in a good or dark way, ever since she had the ability to turn into a monstrous Titan.

It looked like that this blonde-haired, golden-eyed woman is wondering what’s going to happen to her when she encounters the Scouts again.

And she didn’t know what she’ll be in for, once she does.

“Oh Gosh! I’m so excited! I can’t wait to see that female Titan again! This is a stupendous historical and greatest achievement of my life!” Hange cried excitedly.

Levi growled. “Shitty Glasses--if you don’t cut that out right now…I won’t hesitate to make you meet history itself when I shove you straight to one of those hungry Titans when we ride out of these gates!”

Though Commander Erwin would have stopped his subordinates instantly when these two bickered in their usual argument of sorts, he decided to let this be, for he also shared the anxiety and excitement, almost the same as Hange’s, on seeing the female Titan again.

He could still remember the melancholy and mysterious wisdom in the female Titan’s golden eyes as she looked at them upon saving his men before and he, in turn, also looked straight into her gaze.

He could never forget such a look because he is determined to find out and know more on why he could see such intelligence in this unknown titan, as he and his men were used to the mindless gigantic monsters that eat humans.

When Commander Erwin saw the gates fully open before them, he shouted loudly, “ADVANCE!”

And the Survey Corps went off with their horses at a fast galloping speed, heading to the direction where the female Titan was last seen and located.

After a few hours later, without encountering any mindless man-eating Titans yet, Erwin Smith heard one of the troops sending off a colored smoke-flare, he knew that it’s the other half of the troops that will go off to one of the safe-houses beyond the Walls outside to meet them there and he ordered one of the closer subordinates to send a responding flare back in affirmation for the other one.

He did as he commanded and sent it off, then the Commander, his closest lieutenants, Hange, and a small group went riding off to where the Female Titan is.

It didn’t take long for them to find the female Titan again.

It was either by luck or fortunate coincidence, that they stumbled right into the middle of a battle between a few mindless Titans and the Female Titan herself, as she didn’t hesitate to kill them off one-by-one with her full strength and no awareness of the humans that just arrived into this scene.

Hange instantly gasped with delight, her eyes almost glinting with madness. “Oh! Is that her!? Is she--?!”

“Shut up!” Commander Mike instantly snapped at her sharply like he didn’t want to risk getting the Titans’ attention if they noticed the humans.

He turned to Commander Erwin and he gave a silent gesture to quickly leap up into the trees so that they’ll watch the spectacle as well as be safe and away from the reach of those other Titans that seemed to be crowding around the Female one and try to defeat her, but their efforts went in vain.

The Scouts’ horses were trained not to be spooked or run away from the Titans since these monsters don’t bother to eat animals as they’re only focused on their human diet, so they left them to graze about and away from the path of the Titan fight, and they swiftly flew to perch up high in the tall Titan trees in safety and security, as well as watch the scene of the great battle between the Titans and the female one, and also study this new Female Titan and find out more about her.

Needless to say, they were all spellbound with amazement when they watched the Female Titan calmly dispatch all the mindless ones that try to kill or devour her, slashing at their napes with her sharp claws or using deadly kicks and hits to blow their weak spots apart, even using her mouth with deadly fangs to rip them all until every one of their corpses disintegrates into nothing.

Hange was almost salivating and drooling with happiness and joy upon watching this, that the only one who can withstand being close to her side, was her trusted assistant Molbit.

Levi scowled with disgust upon looking at his scientist comrade, but he studied intensely at the ferocious female Titan like he’s trying to discern her true motives for killing her own kin.

So far, they just keep watching silently in wonder as the female Titan kept killing the Titans coming at her one by one or more at the same time, and she effortlessly dispatched them all without breaking a sweat or giving into exhaustion for almost a long time had passed for an hour or two.

Meanwhile, Hange was still vibrating with glee and excitement as she ranted at Molbit to take down notes of everything she noticed about the female Titan.

Then Hange gasped as her eyeglasses glinted brightly as if she just had a sudden idea in her head when she stopped suddenly mid-tirade from her crazy ranting antics.

“I got it!” she exclaimed.

“Hange!” Levi snarled in warning like he knows what she’s thinking and read her mind, but she ignored him and declared aloud.

“Feral!” she shouted as if making a grand announcement. “From now on, I’m calling her the Feral Titan!”

“Well, I got to admit--the name suits her.” Mike admitted wryly as he watched the female Titan fighting against the Titans, almost looking very ‘Feral’ as she is when she defeats and kills them.

But their silent observation was cut short of their wonder and awe, for the newly-dubbed ‘Feral’ female Titan finished with the last Titan that she killed and her body tensed upon her whole very frame like she sensed something’s wrong.

At first, they thought, as they also tensed, that the titan has finally sensed their presence but then she turned her head, flicking her pointed elf-like ears under her golden hair and her face clearly showed how human-like it is when they saw the intense worried expression on it. Then she surprised them when she instantly ran at a very fast pace like she’s focused on going in a direction only the Feral Titan seemed to know or must do something.

They turned to their commander and Erwin just gestured without a word to follow her and they obeyed without question.

As they trailed behind her, trying to be silent with their maneuver gear, they noticed that the female titan was focused into running where she’s going without turning around for any distraction, but then it didn’t take long for something familiar for them to realize with dread and foreboding after a few minutes.

“Uh…Commander Erwin, sir? Isn’t the direction we’re passing through--look odd?” one of the soldiers inquired nervously like he didn’t want to raise doubts despite that he can clearly see the familiarity of the path they’re flying through.

Levi cursed when he finally figured it out and realized. “Shit! This is the place where the other squad went, after separating awhile ago!”

One of Levi’s special Squad members named Petra gasped with horrified wide eyes. “You don’t think--?”

When they all realized that the Titan is heading straight to where the others are at the rendezvous point on the safe-house, they tried to fly quickly with their gear to be the first, but much to their dismay, the 15-meter female Titan was faster than them and had gotten there first before they tried to catch up to her.

They all thought that this titan is now showing its true colors of sorts, but then when they finally arrived to the place where the safe-house of the Scouts are, they were horrified to find that there are a group of Titans already there, and it looked like they came too late for they saw so much bloody carnage when they devoured their fellow soldiers or trampled on them like they didn’t see the monsters coming at all.

There are still a few living survivors, trapped in their grasps, and as they tried to move fast to rescue them from the hungry jaws of the towering beasts--the Feral Titan beat them to it by the punch--literally.

The female Titan punched one of the titans straight in the face and used her other hand to twist the Titan’s grip to make the trapped soldier let go so she can catch it after hitting the Titan with a strong blow.

Amazingly, after she caught the soldier, she aimed precisely and threw them right at the others, startling them by the sudden action, but they reacted quickly to catch their thrown comrades and fly to safety at the highest spots on the tall Titan trees.

Commander Erwin and his fellow Section commanders were very stunned and dumbstruck shocked that the Feral Titan was being careful and precise upon rescuing each of the surviving soldiers from the other Titans and transporting them to the others, and it didn’t take long for her to finish as she turned to finally deal with them all by killing them swiftly right at their weak spots before the dazed Titans gained their minds back and react.

It was only minutes later, almost a half-hour has passed, that the female Feral Titan has completed her task in decimating the Titans and the place is almost clouding up foggily with smoke from the Titan corpses.

The Scouts were busy gathering their wounded rescued ones and then treating them--surprisingly, there were only a few casualties, ranging from about two or four soldiers dead, when they did a head-count--but there are few of those who are heavily injured to the point of non-stop bleeding that they tried to stop it but their efforts will soon be in vain as they’re slowly dying of blood-loss and heavy trauma. They didn’t realize that they’re being watched by the female Titan almost looming over them even with the slight distance between her and the Scouts.

And they were so focused on treating their injured with the amounts of effort they’re putting into saving them, until one of them suddenly cried out in fear and they turned and saw, much to their horror, that the Feral Titan had gotten tired of waiting and moved to pick one of the heavily-injured and near-dying soldiers up from the wooden cart where they placed the other wounded and gently carried it with one hand to bring it closer to her face.

Upon thinking that the Titan is finally showing her true colors, Levi furiously prepared himself to launch right at her and go in for the kill, but Commander Erwin quickly stopped him by grabbing his arm and ordered with a sharp snap. “Wait!”

“Damn it, Erwin! She’s going to--!”

“She’s not! LOOK!” Hange interrupted, pointing with wild eyes behind her glasses, shining with glee and amazement as the Feral Titan revealed another skill in her arsenal that will shock all the Scouts.

The female behemoth looked at the terrified soldier lying helplessly at the palm of her big hand gently before she made a big inhale and then let it out in a soft breezing breath, bathing the wounded soldier in cold smoking steam, almost engulfing him from sight completely until it disappeared just as quickly. The titan repeated this process two more times before she nodded dimly like she’s satisfied over something and then gently lowering to place the soldier back to the cart.

The soldier that she picked up, has lost his arm from being eaten off by one of the Titan’s jaws and he’s one of the soldiers that the Feral Titan had saved him from death. When the female Titan lowered him down towards the cart, they caught sight of what she had done and were instantly dumbstruck and stunned upon seeing it. They all gaped in shock as they stared at the now arm-healed soldier.

“No way…she can heal!?” one of the soldiers exclaimed.

“Please somebody pinch me because I’ve got to be dreaming!” Another cried incredulously.

The Feral Titan carefully set the soldier she finished healing back down on the cart and the soldier was still shocked silent over the fact that he somehow just had his missing arm grown and healed. Then he fainted, almost scaring his other fellows silly, either from the shock of what happened or the trauma of losing then regrowing his arm healed completely suddenly.

Levi couldn’t help it as he’s also stunned and dumbfounded, the same as the others, but then he snapped out of it once more and tried to stop Hange when she suddenly leaps off with a crazy yell, right at the female Titan, aiming to fly and land upon her shoulder. His attempts and efforts to stop her were in vain and he tensed once more in preparation to defend and kill if the Feral Titan tries anything to hurt his comrades--albeit he’d rather not admit that the crazy mad scientist is one too.

It seems like the female Feral Titan feels the same sentiment as Levi does when Hange gracefully landed on the right side of her shoulder and tried to get her attention, but she tried ignoring her, except her yells and waving arms were getting too annoying that she glanced her golden cat-like eyes to the side and glared at her like she’s wondering if Hange is nothing but a crazy idiot.

She frowned at her fiercely like she’s trying to intimidate her into getting off her, but when she saw the other limbless soldier that Hange was directing her to, she moved without hesitation and grabbed the soldier to grow its limb back and heal again.

The Titan was gentle and careful as always, cradling the soldier in her hands as she softly breathed her healing steam onto the shoulder and helped him.

The semi-conscious soldier shivered a little under her blowing breaths of steam and mumbled weakly. “C-cold…!”

Hange was delighted to hear from the soldier’s soft words and instantly told her assistant to write the information down about the female Titan’s special ‘healing’ skill. Molbit hastily noted the info down when he was also dazed in shock until Hange snapped him out of it, and it wasn’t long until all the heavily-injured and near-dying soldiers were healed by the female Feral Titan.

After the Titan was finished, she gently placed the last healed soldier back to the make-shift cot beside the cart full of injured and then slowly backed away like she’s giving them some space and to show that she means no harm. But the Feral Titan didn’t know the sudden considering serious looks coming from the leaders, especially Commander Erwin after what she’s done for the soldiers.

Levi felt like he didn’t want to have this Titan by their side, even though she has proven that she means no harm to humanity and that she designated as a protector, guardian, and healer for them, after the deeds she has done. But he knew what Commander Erwin is instantly thinking since he knew that this felt the same as last time when he was taken and recruited into the Scouts Regiment years before.

His suspicions instantly became true when Commander Erwin had a firm serious look on his face upon making his decision and gestured and ordered the troops to capture the Feral Titan for more observation and experimentation to know more about this female-type combat-fighting human-protector Titan.

Hange was extremely excited over the leader’s commands, but suddenly, once more and again, the female Titan seemed to instantly know what’s in store for her and she decided to flee and escape from them before they could react to taking her down as they intended to.

The Feral Titan shocked them when she covered her nape with one hand, abruptly turned around, and instantly sprinted swiftly to gain some distance away from the stunned Scouts before they snapped out of it.

“AFTER HER! DON’T LET HER GET AWAY!” Commander Erwin yelled as the Scouts flew off with their maneuver gear to hastily catch up to their new prey and objective.

They tried to flank her by the sides and use their cables to trip and slow her down, but the Feral Titan anticipated that and jumped high to dodge them, shocking them again from her actions. Then they tried to fly high and use their swords to aim right and blind her in the eyes, but the Titan predicted that move too as she ducked down and dodged away from their cutting strikes.

So far, the female Titan hasn’t made any defensive or offensive moves at them when they tried to capture her, but they kept their guards up, in case she might do so.

Before the others could make another move to try to take her down--with the Levi Squad preparing themselves to take over and do so--to their surprise once more, the Feral Titan unexpectedly breathed out deep big breaths of steam from her wide-open mouth, creating a massive fog that caught them off-guard without warning and making them lose sight of the Titan completely.

“What the hell!?”

“I can’t see!”

“Where did she go?!”

“Damn it! Don’t lose her!”

“This fog’s too thick! I really can’t see!”

As the shouts and yells continued, and by the time the thick fog finally dispersed from covering the group of Scouts that were trying to find and chase after her for a few minutes--the Feral Titan has disappeared, much to their shock and frustration.

They flew around for another few minutes to search for the Female Titan, but after reaching the edges of the Titan forests and seeing the empty vast plains they went through before, they stopped and landed on the branches of the tall Titan trees to rest.

“How the fucking hell did we lose a 15-meter female Titan!?” Levi snarled angrily, as he’s doing his best to not show his shock that he and the whole squad had just lost a Titan when she disappeared right before their very eyes.

Commander Erwin looked around with sharp eyes like he’s trying to spot where the female Titan might be hiding but couldn’t find her at all, making him hold back his sigh of frustration and disappointment. Then he narrowed his eyes when he thought of something upon what he had witnessed before of the Titan like he knew that something was odd about it and the way how it reacted when she somehow knew of their intentions to capture it.

Hange, on the other hand, wasn’t disappointed at all upon losing the Feral Titan as she kept jumping up and down with glee, manically laughing like she’s overjoyed at the prospect of capturing such a magnificent specimen and experimenting to know more about it.

The other soldiers couldn’t help but back away from the mad scientist but Levi ignored her as usual and turned to Erwin like he’s silently asking what they’re going to do now since the Titan’s gone.

For almost a long time, but in reality, it was just a few seconds, of silent thoughtful thinking, Commander Erwin decided to withdraw and return back to the Walls, after their tiring ordeals they’ve gone through for the day and he waved to his troops on his firm commands to go back and they all obeyed.

Just as they carefully put their injured comrades onto the cart, with the still-shocked ones that had their limbs regrown joining them, they all rode off on their horses, going back the direction they went through and returning straight to the Walls without stopping or any delays.

But what the Scouts didn’t know, that beyond the shadows of the trees, the Feral Titan kept lingering about in the darkness on her human form, staring silently from behind like she’s watching out for them, in the case to protect them from any more Titan dangers as they leave the area of the forests and into the plains.

Luckily, for the Titan-shifting woman, she used the distraction of the cover fog she made, to instantly cut herself off on the nape and jump swiftly into the branches of the Titan trees to hide as her Titan body disintegrated the same time with the fog, while the Scouts struggled to break through it and search for her as she’s hiding carefully in wherever her dark spot was until they stopped and decided to leave.

She knew as she watched them leave--that it’s not over and that they’ll come back for her to try to capture her once more from what she instantly knew of their intentions when she had made her foolish decision into treating and healing the soldiers, showing off one of her ‘unique’ skill as the female Titan-shifter.

The blonde-haired golden-eyed woman knew that they won’t give up on their objective of capturing her and trying to find out more information and knowledge about her and get it, so that she’ll help them in whatever foolish cause they are fighting for, even though she feels for them with sympathy that she almost felt like wanting to help them, but couldn’t let herself do that, because of her fear on how they’ll react once they know the truth about her being a human who can shift and turn into a monstrous female Titan.

She wondered what’s in store for her when the Survey Corps--the Scouts plan on what to do next and come back to execute their mission into capturing her.

She hoped that she’ll be prepared to face whatever comes at her, even if it’s unexpected.

CHAPTER 3 - HOPE IS IN THE NAME

“I still think it’s a bad idea, Erwin,” Levi griped at him with a fierce scowl, as he and Erwin Smith are the only ones talking privately in the Scouts’ Commander’s office.

After returning to the Walls with no problems, surprisingly, from encountering any Titans that would come at them as usual like before--but Hange thinks that the Feral Titan is responsible for the lack of Titans and continued to be very excited on the fact that they’re planning to make another attempt into capturing the female Titan when they have the chance on the next expedition.

The commander ordered all the Scout troops to keep silent about the Feral Titan and not tell anyone about her, even their own families and they all obeyed with a salute to their leader, showing their loyalty to be quiet about it, even the new recruits.

Needless to say, the only one protesting about this plot for capture of the female Feral Titan--is Corporal Levi himself of the Special Ops squad of the Scouts and the one being called by the people as ‘Humanity’s Strongest’.

The other squad leader, the one with the keen nose, Mike also seemed to agree with Levi over this plan but he didn’t voice it out loud because he trusted Commander Erwin completely on it.

And Hange, of course, was as excited and crazily giddy as usual, in her eagerness upon wanting to gain more knowledge of the new subject, that is the female titan.

Erwin knew very well about Levi’s doubts towards this particular titan but he knew also that this seemed to be a chance for them to have a foot-hold ahead on fighting against their Titan enemies and reaching more on their expeditions beyond the Walls and farther more they can explore to find answers or--at the very least, finding existence of other human civilizations, if there are any more left.

And he won’t let this opportunity go when it presented itself for him and the entirety of the Scouts Regiment.

Erwin calmly waved off Levi’s protests over the matter and he also gave him a firm stern glaring look so that the corporal won’t argue more about it. Levi was defeated for now and begrudgingly went silent when the commander silently ordered him to, but he won’t back off into preparing and be ready to take down the female Titan in case she tries anything funny, either in a good or bad way.

Erwin lays out the plan for the capture mission of the female Feral Titan, and for the first part, they needed to observe her more so that they can see some blind spots in order to catch her off-guard and take her down, without her being aware of their plans until it’s too late.

It will be difficult--considering the fact that they’re dealing with a very intelligent titan, as they had seen from the way she had fought and killed the Titans. Even though they had seen that she means no harm and appears to be friendly to humans--they can’t risk the chance that she might be hiding her ‘true colors’ (from Levi’s opinion) and retaliate to harming them, whether provoked or not.

It was a week later that the plans have been made, traps and barb cannons were gathered, and a large cart and cage was built and made-up for the capture mission of the Feral Titan.

At the very day that they’re going to set off in the next expedition, with the goal of capturing the female titan, they all advanced to the same direction where they had seen her and think that it’s where she’s located.

It didn’t take long for the Scouts to find their objective--without alerting the Feral Titan of their presence, fortunately.

Commander Erwin had already separated the squad that had the traps and barb cannons prepared and ordered them to wait in a secure safe spot when it’s time for luring the titan into their wake, without her knowing.

They observed her for almost a long moment, being as quiet and silent like the wind and being careful to not be spotted by the Feral Titan and have her be aware of what they’re planning.

But they all noticed that the Feral Titan seem to be focused into going somewhere as they’re following her silently, and it didn’t take long for them to realize that the female titan seemed to be carrying something in her arms, being careful not to drop her load.

When one of the soldiers got a little closer, being careful and quiet, to take a look, it was a split-second that he swiftly returned and reported to his superiors on what he had seen from the titan, and his face was pale from shock and horror.

“Sir--sir, sh-she’s…!” he stuttered like he’s terrified to say what he needs to say.

Levi scowled at him with annoyance and snapped at him hissing, while keeping an eye out, watching the female titan from behind. “Spit it out!”

“She’s--the Titan’s carrying bodies of our dead comrades, sir!”

There was frozen silence for a moment before they snapped out of it when Levi trembled with fury and growled snarling. “I knew it!”

Hange tried to diffuse the rising tension, trying to calm Levi down. “Now, now, Levi--I’m sure there’s an explanation why our female Feral Titan is carrying--!”

Levi snapped at her harshly, “What else is there to explain, Four-Eyes?! That titan is going to eat our fallen soldiers for lunch!”

Erwin commanded firmly, “Stand down, Corporal. Squad commander Hange may be right with her statement. There must be an explanation on why the Feral Titan is carrying our dead men. We continue to follow and observe her, so that we’ll see the reason what she’s doing with them.”

Levi didn’t like it, but he’ll trust the Commander’s word on it, and also be prepared to strike when the time is right, or the Feral Titan might strike first, provoking him to do his job upon slaying it.

They followed the female titan until they reached into a plain clearing, somewhere deep in the Titan forests, and they watched her as they hid from sight on the trees when the female monster looked around to check if there’s any other Titan lingering about.

When the female Titan found nothing, they saw her dimly nod with satisfaction before she kneels and puts down the load she had been carrying gently into the soft earthy ground. They also noticed that she was being really careful not to drop the bodies when she placed them down, making sure that no body part or blood seeps off from the covered wrapped blankets that the Titan seemingly had done this upon finding them.

Then with one of her hands, the titan dug her fingers deep into the soil and dragged them, making big holes in almost the exact size of the human bodies. It didn’t take long for them to finally realize that she’s making graves for them, so that whatever remains left of their fallen comrades, won’t be eaten by other Titans.

But then they wondered how she’s going to put each body into the grave holes she has made for them, that’s when they suddenly became stunned shocked when the Feral Titan did something that they didn’t expect.

After the titan made the holes and carefully scoots backwards like she’s making space, and then she raises her other hand with the claws out and swiftly cuts her nape, instantly killing herself.

“NOOO!! WHY!? WHY DID SHE--!?” Hange wailed with both hands on her head as she fell down on her knees when they watched wide-eyed shocked as the Titan disintegrated from its suicide act.

SSHFFT! CRACK! SSHH--CRACK!

They froze upon hearing a strange sound coming from the disintegrating titan.

Then it didn’t take long for them to stare in shock when a naked human woman emerged from the very nape that the Feral Titan has cut herself and she gave out a big gasp like she’s surfacing for air from the deep waters.

After the woman had her breath of air, she quickly jumps off the smoking titan before the body crumbles to pieces with her on it. She landed gracefully to the ground and wraps her arms around her body to cover herself, even though she thinks there’s no one else around, except the hidden Scouts that are staring stunned and dumbstruck at her from the trees, and looks around once more to make sure that no Titans are lurking about to catch her by surprise, as she is now in her human form.

Once she ensures that there’s nothing about, she shivers upon feeling a slight cold breeze coming straight at her in the nude, and she quickly grabs one of the stray blankets that wasn’t used on the bodies and deftly wraps it around her in a make-shift toga-like dress, then she gets to work into burying the fallen and putting them in their respective graves.

The Scouts witnessed silently and still shocked that the human woman--a Titan-shifter female--didn’t have any problems into pulling and carrying the bodies and then placing them into the graves inside without sweating or getting exhausted from the task.

After the shifter woman was done, she moved to stand in the same spot where she had transformed before, held up a sharp blade that she had brought with her for this and swiftly cut her wrist on the right hand and there was a sudden loud and booming explosion from where she was standing, almost startling and shocking the Scouts once more as they watched this unfold.

In almost the same pose as before on her knees, the human woman has turned back into the Feral Titan that she had become, and went to cover the graves with dirt again with a swift brushing move from her hands and then slowly went to stand back up on her feet again, while staring at the covered graves she had finished and done her task for the day. They saw her clap her hands together like she’s making prayers or paying respects to the dead, before she moved to leave the graveyard and go somewhere else to do whatever it is she’s doing next.

But before they were about to follow her from behind again, they looked to their commander, questioning silently on what to do, since they discovered this shocking new development of the Titan-shifter woman.

Commander Erwin didn’t need to say anything else as he still had the calm serious expression on his face, gesturing to his troops to keep on following the Feral Titan until she stopped again for something else. But he ordered quietly to Corporal Levi to get his team ready to take her down when she turns back into her human form again and he nodded obeying his commands, instantly knowing the plan on capturing her with their fortunate luck upon knowing this new fact about the female titan.

Hange, of course, was salivating to the point of drooling, and eyes gleaming with mad excitement over learning this new knowledge as well, and she couldn’t wait to get to know the Feral Titan more once they’ve captured her on the time when she’s in her human form.

It was about an hour later, as the Scouts continued following the titan quietly as they could, that the Feral finally stopped, turning her head to look up at one of the big Titan trees like she’s perusing it over or something, and then they watched her as she outstretched her left arm and grabbed hold of one of the high branches with a clawed grip, before she rose the other clawed hand to rip open the nape once more, letting her human form out.

As the Titan form disintegrated in smoking steam, the human one pulls out with a gasping sound again and swiftly runs up the arm before it looses grip on the branch and falls along with the disappearing corpse. The Titan-shifter female managed to make it, in just almost a slight slip, when the large Titan claw looses grip and she jumps to grab hold of the branch she was holding on to with both hands.

The naked woman hung onto the branch with a hard grip like she’s waiting for her Titan body to fully disintegrate, before she lifted herself up onto the branch and then grabbed something, which was already set there in place, like she was prepared for this. It turned out to be true when the hidden Scouts saw that she had prepared and hid some things for the Titan-shifter as she turns to her human form, and watched as she put on clothes and then started strapping and putting on unfamiliar gear on herself.

Commander Erwin and the other section commanders can see that the maneuver gear the Titan-shifter female is putting on and wearing, seemed to be similar like their 3D maneuver gear too, but they can see some specific differences, regarding that they’re smaller, modified by her own design, and appears to be made of use of guns and rifles instead of sword-blades.

After the Titan-shifter placed and strapped the long sniper rifle onto her back, she went off in a flying leap, going somewhere in a direction only she knows of, and the Scouts hastily chased after her, determined not to lose her again.

They stopped when they saw that the shifter woman stopped first ahead of them, and they still hid in the trees, observing what she’s doing next, as she brought out small binoculars from beneath her hooded cloak and see through them, looking at something at the ground below. They looked to see what she’s looking at and saw a small herd of deer grazing calmly at a corner of another plain field besides the trees at the edge of the Titan forests.

It was a split-second for them to realize that she must be similar like them as a human, for she needed food and water to survive living in the outside world, plagued by Titans. They watched silently as the woman aimed her rifle carefully and precisely, straight at the herd of deer that’s grazing by the grassy field, right on her sight.

BANG! BANG!

Even though the shots seemed to have missed their target, the deer reacted with fright upon the gunshots and ran to escape, but one of them suddenly got caught right into a snapping bear-trap, that was hidden beneath the grass and it clamped tight into the hind leg of a young doe as it still tries to flee. It appeared to be that the woman seemed to have missed her shots on purpose, to startle the deer and lead it straight to her traps, and she gracefully flies down with the modified 3DMG she’s using and lands almost close to the struggling deer, but the animal seemed to be weakening now from blood-loss when the trap snapped right into a fatal artery on its leg.

The Titan-shifter woman decided to put it out of its misery and granted it a quick merciful death, striking swiftly at the weak spot and it dropped dead instantly. After killing it, she let go of the knife still stuck from where she stabbed it into the doe, clapping her hands again as she did before, giving prayers and paying respects for granting her fortune or luck on getting food for herself.

But before she was about to cut and slice meat pieces from the dead deer, the Titan-shifter suddenly freeze and then did a round-about back flip when a large foot suddenly stomped right behind her and she escaped by leaping off when she instantly sensed that she was going to be crushed.

Fortunately, the dead animal was still intact and left alone, for the Titan that came out of nowhere was focused on the woman, hunger on its ugly face and reaching out to grab its prey.

The woman backed away from the gigantic ravenous monster, but just as she had grabbed the rifle gun strapped on her back and was about to aim it up and shoot--

SNAP!

She cried out in surprised pain when one of the hidden bear-traps snapped right on her foot and she fell down on the ground. But she didn’t let it falter her as she aimed precisely and swiftly shot right through the Titan’s neck and the Titan collapsed disintegrating when the bullet powerfully tear through its throat and to the exact weak spot of the nape.

The woman still didn’t relax even when she killed the titan before her, for she knew that there will be more approaching as she has known and experienced through this. True to her suspicions, three more titans came out of hiding from the trees and tried to crowd over and reach out to grab at the same time at the trapped woman on the ground.

It seemed hopeless for she can only shoot one out of three but she didn’t know that the Scouts decided to intervene and rescue her, after she had killed another Titan and then the last two were taken down by sudden slashes right at the nape from the Scout regiment’s Special Ops squad, Levi’s team.

The blond female was instantly shocked upon seeing the Scouts again, and then it was a split-second later that she paled sickly-white like she suddenly realized that they know her secret as a Titan-shifter.

After Levi and his squad had dealt with the other titans swiftly upon killing them, they landed to the ground and they turned their attention instantly to the Titan-shifting woman like they’re expecting her to escape while they’re distracted, but they were relieved to see that she’s still there, struggling to free herself from the trap but couldn’t.

It didn’t take long for Commander Erwin, Squad leaders Hange and Mike to join in along with the rest of the Scouts as they landed on the field and almost gathered around the shifter woman, which she kept panicking and tried to escape but the trap on her left foot was still clamped on her and the sharp teeth on it are now digging deep into her shin, almost fatally injuring her.

“No--hey, hey, hey! Wait! Stop! Stop that, you’ll hurt yourself if you move! Wait--stop moving!” Hange tried to calm her down and soothe her, trying to show her that she’s friendly.

But the woman didn’t settle as she was frantic to flee from them, trying to break herself free from the trap she’s still on and making her bleeding leg wound grow worse with her straining panicked movements.

Levi went closer from behind like he’s being prepared and anticipating her to defend herself on attacking back with that rifle gun of hers, but then the woman was too blinded with her fear and panic, that when she finally noticed Corporal Levi coming at her, she surprised all of the Scouts when she just flung the cloak over her body and covered herself up in a protective ball, similar the way how a hedgehog reacts on protecting itself.

When the Titan-shifter girl covered herself like that, making them stare dubiously surprised at her, Levi still scowled and carefully kicked the rifle gun away in case she might reach out for her weapon and he was stopped by Commander Erwin when he’s about to decide into kicking her to get her out of that silly protective ball she’s making.

Commander Erwin gestured for all his soldiers to stand down and he slowly approached close to the shivering ball and then talked to her calmly in a soft tone, telling her that it’s alright and that the Scouts will bring no harm to her.

The ball seemed to tense up and freeze when Erwin spoke, but a few seconds later, the cloth moved a little for a pair of golden eyes to peek out from underneath it and gaze right at Erwin’s eyes like the woman wanted to make sure on seeing his sincerity when he said that. Erwin kept a stoic yet sincere look on his face, to show that he’s not lying or deceiving her when she stared at him for almost a long moment.

Finally, he became relieved--as well as the others--when the woman relaxed under the man’s soothing words and took off the cloth covering herself and sits up, glancing around them nervously. Once she’s settled and relaxed, Commander Erwin ordered Hange and a few others to come and help the Titan-shifter out of the trap, and they obeyed and move to break her free from the huge metal trap on her still-bleeding leg.

When Mike and another strong Scout soldier grabbed hold of the trap and started to pry it open, the woman surprised Levi this time when she suddenly grabbed onto him by the arm, clinging tightly as she tried to endure the pain when they’re removing the trap from her injured left appendage, and the corporal was a little speechless and a bit uncomfortable that the Titan-shifter was clinging to him like this.

After the trap was carefully pried open and loose and was tossed away, Hange made her move, instantly bringing bandages and ointment, and swiftly treated the shifting-girl’s wounds, and also announcing aloud that her injury isn’t fatally serious and she’ll recover nicely for about a week or so.

Then the Titan-shifter woman was still looking and glancing about nervously as if shy from the attention all focused onto her, and she still held on and clings to Levi, like she trusted him wholly, even though this is only the first time they’ve met.

Erwin decided to ask the first question that came to mind, gently asking her. “What’s your name?”

Silence for a tense yet expectant anticipating moment and then…

“Nadia…my name is…Nadia…” she rasps softly, coughing a little like she hasn’t spoken normally for decades.

Then she blushed a bit shyly when Erwin smiled at her warmly. “It’s nice to meet you, Miss Nadia. I’m Erwin Smith, Commander of the Scout Regiment and Survey Corps. This is Corporal Levi, my second in command and trusted comrade.”

Nadia glanced at Levi and he dimly nodded to her in greeting before he turned his head to look away from her curious gaze, and it was a little surprising that he didn’t remove her grip on his arm, letting her cling to him for comfort or protection or something.

Hange was a little amused over this but didn’t voice this out loud so that she won’t get punched by the grumpy scowling corporal and then she took her turn to introduce herself to the woman named Nadia, almost surprising her by her abrupt introduction before Squad leader Mike and the other Scouts took their turns into introducing themselves as well to their possible new member of the Scouts, that is the Titan-shifter.

The Scouts are going to be experiencing through and living a new change of pace, now that they have Nadia, the Feral Titan and Titan-shifter, joining in the Scout regiment and will be helping them in their goal and mission to explore the lands beyond the Walls.
