Chapter Text
“‘Cause he gets up in the morning, and he goes to work at nine. And he comes back home at five thirty, gets the same train every time.”
Sunlight poured between the blinds and into the master bedroom of the penthouse of one of the finest condominiums in Tokyo. Midoriya Izuku, Pro Hero Deku, stretched long, thick limbs underneath the duvet and squinted against the harsh brightness. Scarred hands fumbled for the alarm clock even though he knew it was useless. He could never get it to go off until the song was over.
“‘Cause his world is built ‘round punctuality; it never fails.”
Sip on a steaming mug of black coffee while turning on the morning news, check the phone for important messages, work out in the gym, protein shake and egg sandwich, take a shower, brush teeth, shave.
“And he’s oh, so good. And he’s oh, so fine. And he’s oh, so healthy in his body and his mind.”
Feed and walk the huskies in the gated courtyard, check the P.O. box, nod kindly to the security guard on the way back in.
“He’s a well-respected man about town, doing the best things so conservatively.”
Put on work clothes, pack the briefcase, turn off the television - a familiar name had Izuku’s thumb halting over the power button on the remote. It instead moved to turn up the volume. The screen showed what appeared to be live footage of an enormous, smoldering pile of rubble, and the banner moving along the bottom read: BREAKING NEWS: TOKYO’S MUSUEM OF NATURE AND SCIENCE COLLAPSES AFTER EXPLOSION FROM WITHIN, MANY STILL TRAPPED INSIDE.
“-the situation is looking grim. If the multiple eye-witness reports that Pro Hero Ground Zero was inside the building at the time of the attack are true, this might have been a targeted attack on the hero. It has now been nearly twenty minutes since the attack, and time is certainly of the essence now for the victims. Pro Heroes Uravity and Ingenium arrived on the scene shortly after the explosion and have so far recovered eleven live victims from the wreckage who were rushed to the hospital, but Ground Zero was not among them. Where are the Top Ten when we need them?”
Midoriya Izuku’s phone began to ring.
