Chapter Text
“Ho ho ho! Good morning New York! I’m your host Josh Fill. Guess what, it’s only 10 days left until Christmas! Hope you have your presents ready for your loved ones-“
Yoongi turned off the radio.
“Presents for loved ones- pf.. And here I thought Christmas isn’t supposed to be materialistic.” He liked to come at the radio host from time to time on his way to work, Yoongi thought that he was being way too affectionate about everything for no reason.
There wasn’t much to do while being stuck in the traffic but, that’s how it is in New York during winter.
“Can you fucking move?! The light’s been green for hours now dumbass!” Yoongi was a very passionate driver, mainly when he was late for work and that was about 90 percent of the time.
Yoongi was working as a producer at JinHit Ent., he loved his job. It was anything he could ever ask for, since the very young age the boy spend most of his time home with his mother’s piano. He first learned how to play the piano for his mother who was sick. She used to say that the best medicine is her son’s music, those words play in his head everyday. Music was always there to help him through the hard times. It was almost Christmas when his mom passed away 3 years ago, that day also happened to be the first day of snow.
Obviously for Yoongi, the holidays weren’t as exciting as for the others. He spent almost every Christmas alone in his apartment besides from few visits from his older brother, it was financially hard for him to get to new york from Korea every year. Yoongi sometimes thought about his brother and father spending the Christmas Eve together, he imagined the warm atmosphere of home, his fathers homecooked meals and the laughter spreading across the room while they were chatting about the old times. Sometimes he felt colder than usual, however not because of the cold weather behind the big windows of his apartment.
“Morning Yoongi! It’s 10 days until chris- Oh I’m sorry bro..” Jin greeted Yoongi with enthusiasm, only to regret his words later.
“Morning hyung..”
“Oh by the way, could you stop by my office after your shift?”
“Sure.” Yoongi said, not bothered with stopping his feet or turning his head to face Jin.
Maybe he wasn’t willing to spend any more time on the corridors painted in Christmas decorations, it made him physically sick. His studio was where he kept his thought, worries and emotions written on the music sheets. It wasn’t excessively decorated but he’s got everything he needed in there. The moment he laid his fingers on the keyboard, all the voices in his head stopped like it was the only moment they’d respect his pleads for the silence.
It was almost 10 PM and Yoongi’s project was finally done. He pushed himself from the desk and stretched his arms with a loud yawn. Unfortunately he was out of his trance and the scenery behind the windows was getting Yoongi back to reality.
“First snow.” He said for himself.
“Y-yeah…Are you okay? I- I just thought I’d check up on you.” Jin peeped through the slightly open doors.
Yoongi was still starring out the window, observing the dancing snowflakes. “I’m okay hyung, don’t worry. I’ll be there in a minute.”
“Okay.. I’m glad you’re okay Yoongi.” Jin knew that what Yoongi was saying wasn’t true but, there wasn’t anything he could do for him at this point.
Yoongi grabbed his car keys and headed to Jin’s office not thinking much about what he wanted to talk about.
He sat in front of his friend “So what did you want?”
“Look Yoongi, I know that this time of the year is really hard for you and I think that you’re just not completely aware, seeing you these days is like seeing a sleepwalker and not my best friend and the most talented producer. That’s why I decided to fire you for the time being-“
“WHAT? What are you talking about?!” Yoongi looked at Jin with confusion.
“It’s not like I’m firing you permanently, at first I thought I’d just send you on a vacation but I knew you wouldn’t go. You just need time for yourself. You need to heal and start fresh, I know… I know how unfair the world has been to you these past years but, please Yoongi, I’m scared… I've seen Jimin’s marriage announcement, you can’t tell me that it doesn’t bother you-“
“Jin stop…” Yoongi said quietly, tears forming in his eyes, those words were draining the last bits of energy from him.
The CEO stood up to give his friend a reassuring tap on the back “Find some time for yourself man, go out with us sometimes, go on a walk, try to socialise, read a book or something, just start living again because we all miss you. I’m sorry to say this but, I’m doing it for you, pack your things, you’re dismissed.”
Yoongi stood up and threw the new project which he was working on onto Jin’s desk.
“Fuck you Jin.”
He felt betrayed, he didn’t understand why his best friend had took the only thing left from him, the job he loved so much. At his current state he didn’t hear all of the things Jin’s said, his mind was focused only on the words of betrayal.
Finally he was home, he felt like never leaving again. He tried so hard to avoid his roommate Namjoon, he felt like crying and he was holding it for too long now.
“Bro! I’m ordering pizza, do you want something?” Namjoon screamed from the living room as he heard the footsteps coming from the hallway.
 “I’m good, thanks.”
“Wait Yoongi, Jin told me… do you wanna grab a beer?” Namjoon was now standing behind the smaller man. There were times when a drink with his roommate helped him like nothing else, the feeling of getting things off of your chest was priceless for Yoongi, however this time he felt like there were no words left to say.
“I’m sorry Namjoon, I think I’ll just go to sleep.”
“That’s okay bro, I’m here if you need anything. Good night.”
“Night Joon.”
Yoongi lit up his scented candles because he didn’t like the strong light in his room, it made him feel seen when he didn’t wan to be. His warm clothes were now thrown in the corner across the room and the cold creeped up it way onto the boy’s skin. Sitting on the bed, looking outside the window at the city now covered with snow he thought about the words Jin’s said to him. He looked at the book that was covered in dust on his almost empty bookshelf, it was a book that Jin’s got him last Christmas. There were certain things that Yoongi didn’t like, for example getting presents, because it felt like obligation, there was nothing personal in it and he had to make a place for those things, things he didn’t even wanted. On the other hand, the things he was longing for would always get away from him.
He felt a tear running down his cheek onto his bedsheets.
“Jimin, my angel, I’m so sorry that I’ve hurt you. I really hope you’ll be happy from now on.” Quiet sobs started to spread across the room.
“Mom- How are you doing? I hope you’re wearing a warm clothes, don’t get cold. I love you… Please help me get through these hard times.” As he was saying those words, his eyes started to feel heavy and he fell asleep.

“Good morning Hyung!” Taehyung greeted his friend Hoseok.
“Morning Jang-mi!” Hoseok had this habit of calling people by the nicknames which he would made up for them, for Tae it was /Jang-mi/ which meant rose in korean. Hoseok simply thought that the boy was as beautiful as a rose.
It was a time for “Hoseok’s Tiny Miracles” to fully prepare everything their customers would wish for. The two made a great duo for a business like this, people loved to visit the shop even if they didn’t need anything in particular, perhaps they’d be just passing by and the view inside of the shop would let them wanting to see more. There wasn’t a better place for Christmas lovers in New York. One of Hoseok’s favourite activity would be making a playlist for his shop, there was something really magical about all the jingle bells, trumpets and pianos, after all on the Christmas everything is magical.
“Oh! Hyung look, it’s snowing!” Tae said a little louder than he’d meant to.
Hoseok slowly walked out from behind the cash register his footsteps leading him to the window. “Wow… it’s so beautiful-“
“I know right!”
“Just like you Jang-mi. “ Hoseok laughed a little teasing the younger one.
“Hyung stop, I’m gonna fall for you…hhh”
“Be careful to not fall from that ladder kid.”
The day went by quickly, few of their regular customers stopped by to give the boys their homemade Christmas candy and things for the children charity event Hoseok would organise at his shop every year on Christmas.
“Hyung have you found anyone yet for the role of Santa this year?” Tae asked his friend from the ladder, still decorating the 3 meters tall Christmas tree.
“Not yet but, don’t worry I’m sure someone will come up soon.” And maybe even sooner than Hoseok’s expected.

Chapter Text
Yoongi woke up pissed of because of the bright light burning through his eyes.
He heard his roommate in the kitchen being clumsy as always, Namjoon has got a really special talent of breaking things. He wasn’t allowed to touch anything fragile and Yoongi would usually shout at him if he got anywhere near the kitchen.
Yoongi wasn’t of to a good start after he remembered what’s happened to him the day before. It felt like a bad dream. He decided to visit Jin’s office and beg him to think some more about his decision
“Morning hyung!” Namjoon said wide-awake while trying to prepare a breakfast for his roommate to cheer him up. Suddenly he turned around with a pan in his hand to show off his pancake making skills, unfortunately he also happened to knock off Yoongi’s favourite Christmas mug which his mother gave him before she passed.
“Hyung… I’m so sorry! I’m a mess, I’ll never lay my foot in the kitchen ever agai-“ Namjoon cried.
“Don’t worry about it, accidents happen all the time.” The older boy felt like crying, it wasn’t anything tragic but, after everything that has happened it felt so big to him. He didn’t want Namjoon to feel bad about it “I’ll go visit Jin hyung today, I don’t know when I’ll be home.”
“O-oh okay…” Namjoon was curious about what was going on inside Yoongi’s head. “Hyung, why are you going there?”
“None of your business.” And with those words Yoongi disappeared into his room.
Yoongi have had his pride and a lot of times it made things difficult for him but, not this time. He was so used to the rhythm of going to work, working on his music till late at night, there was nothing to do now.
Yoongi got dressed and it was rather a difficult task, it was snowing heavily in NewYork. The cold breeze would always find it’s way to Yoongi, he grabbed the warmest sweater he owned and a black coat to show his non approachable image. People tend to be even more friendly to strangers during the holidays, another thing that Yoongi wasn’t a fan of.
He decided to take a walk since he needed some fresh air and coffee however, he wasn’t prepared for the mass invasion of people shopping for christmas gifts and decors. It was a mission to get his Americano. At this point he was sure that he won’t lay a foot outside until January.
There he was, at the reception asking for Kim Seokjin “Hey, could you tell Kim PD that I want to talk to him?”
The receptionist looked so confused because it was the first time she’d hear him talk. He never even stoped to say Hi or Bye, he’d always just swipe his employee card to get the tourniquets open for him and went straight to his studio.
“Mr. Min, did you lose your employee card? I can let you in-“ she stuttered.
“I didn’t lose it, it was taken from me. Now can you call Seokjin?” Yoongi was really salty and he was sorry that the poor girl had to take it but, he wasn’t in the mood for apologies.
“Oh sure, I’ll do that.”
“Thank you.”
Jin made his way down to see Yoongi standing in front of the reception looking like a sad puppy. He’d never think that he’d see Yoongi begging him for something, yet here he was begging him for the only thing that Jin wasn’t able to give him.
“Yoongi-si! What’s up? Did you forget to pack something?” Jin tried really hard to think that this isn’t gonna be about Yoongi trying to get back to work.
Y: “Hyung… please, I’m asking you as a friend-“
J: “Yoongi, I don’t really feel like your friend anymore… you see I had a little fait that your visit would be about something else for example, inviting us to spend some time together. I see you didn’t listen to me at all, I’m sorry I won’t take you bak, not right now.” With those words he left, leaving Yoongi with tears on the edge of his eyes.
There never has been anything good happening to Yoongi on Christmas, it was so unfair, he wanted christmas to be special to him too.
As he was struggling walking back home through the thick layer of fresh snow he remembered the broken mug. Maybe it was a destiny, maybe it happened for a reason that namjoon broke his favourite mug and Yoongi passing by the “Hoseok’s tiny miracles”.
It wouldn’t be Yoongi’s first choice to visit a christmas decor shop but, there it was, the exact same christmas mug which his mother gave him.
The doorbells rang as soon as he opened the door letting a cold breeze come in.
“Welcome! How can I help you?” Tall handsome boy with a boxy smile appeared in front of Yoongi in a blink of an eye.
Y: “Uh- I’d like to see the mug you have displayed in the window please.”
T: “O-oh, that one.” He smiled.
*throwback*
One morning Hoseok greeted his employee with even more brighter smile than usual.
H: “Jang-mi! Come here, I wanna show you something.”
T: “I’m coming hyung!” Tae screamed from the storage room.
H: “This my dear is a very special mug. There are only 2 pieces with each design in the whole world. My mom actually bought it for me, she wanted to get both of them for me and my sister as a christmas present but one woman grabbed it sooner.” He laughed.
“My mom told me to put it in my shop and see if I find the owner of the other mug, It’s a bit silly but, I like the idea of experiencing such a beautiful christmas miracle.” Hoseok was now grinning from ear to ear, eyes shut imaging all the possible scenarios.
T: “Hyung that is so beautiful! I’ll let you know if anyone asks for it.” Taehyung was a big fan of romantic novels and now he felt like he was being in one.
*end of throwback*
T: “Excuse me, I’ll be right back” he threw everything from his hands on the ground and speed walked to the staff room.
T: “Hyung! He’s here!”
H: “Who’s here?”
“Your Christmas miracle!”
Chapter 3: A chance
Notes:
Sorry for the late update :( I have no excuse honestly... but I hope you'll enjoy it <3
Chapter Text
“Excuse me can I get the mug or, is it not for sale?” Yoongi was getting a bit confused.
He started looking through the shop, christmas decorations were never something he’d take interest in but, this shop was too magical even for him. It felt like being on a christmas movie set, like those cringey holidays romantic movies which Yoongi would always watch first 5 minutes of off and he’d immediately know the ending. Love stories were getting really boring and Yoongi thought that it was because love was spoken about too much, every book, every movie, commercials, songs and so on the list would be endless. If you speak about something too much it will get boring, there’s no scenario left for us to imagine and dream about, nothing seems worthy because it’s not yours, those stories doesn’t belong to you.
Yoongi was starring at a small painting of two birds covered in snow, being close to one another sharing their body temperature to keep them a bit warmer. He immediately felt the cold which he would forget about time to time but, it always came back because he was missing the other bird.
H: “E-ehm.. Excuse me mister, I don’t wanna disturb you but, I’ve heard you’d like to purchase this mug, right?”
Y: “Yeah right, so is it for sale?”
H: “It is, it’s just a really special mug, I know It might seem a bit corny but, have you perhaps seen a mug like this one before?”
What a weird question Yoongi thought. Y: “Yes, actually I used to have this exact same mug until this morning when my roommate accidentally broke it.”
H: “Oh I’m sorry to hear that but, that makes this mug the only one of its kind. I don’t know if you knew but, these mugs were made in couples with each design, just a fun fact.” Hoseok laughed a bit because there wasn’t really any reaction from the other man and he felt awkward in this situation.
Suddenly Yoongi’s phone rang,
“Hey what’s up…”
“No, it didn’t go well…”
“Don’t worry i’ll find a job asap and i’ll pay the rent…”
“Yeah i’ll be home soon bye Namjoon.”
Yoongi put his phone down on the counter and he tried to support his unsteady feet by leaning on the counter as well.
T: “Excuse me sir, I’ve heard that you’re looking for a job. We’re actually looking for the role of Santa Claus for our charity events.” Taehyung said with a sparkles in his eyes and looked at Hoseok patiently waiting for his reaction. “I mean… It was just a sudden idea, you don’t have to-“
Y: “I’ll take it.” It seemed like there wasn’t any other way.
H: “O-oh I wasn’t expecting to find Santa so quickly but, I’m glad to welcome you to the Hoseok’s tiny miracles family.” Hoseok laughed at himself, It was a bit too much but he really enjoyed saying the name of his shop out loud.
Y: “I just don’t wanna end up homeless on christmas, I really need a job so Santa it is.” Yoongi was really straightforward and he didn’t like to spend his time by pretending. He made it obvious, that he doesn’t like christmas but, Hoseok wouldn’t believe that, there’s no one who would hate christmas as much as Yoongi seems to does. Hoseok wasn’t worried about the grumpy looking man not clicking with the atmosphere of the shop, he found it really challenging.
H: “So… My name is Jung Hoseok and I’m the owner of this shop. This is our staff Taehyungie, however I call him Jang-mi so it can be confusing but, you’ll get used to it. I really like giving nicknames to my friends, you look like Nunsongie (snowflake)-“
Y: “Stop right there. I’m really thankful for saving my ass in this situation but I’m not planing on staying here after the holidays so, no nicknames. My name is Min Yoongi and I’d like you to call me by my name.”
Hoseok wasn’t used to this kind of people, all of his friends were cheerful and bubbly. He was a bit concerned if Min Yoongi will be able to handle the kids who will be coming to Santa with eyes full of hope.
H: “Okay sure, please come here tomorrow at 7:30am.”
Yoongi knew that he’s behaviour wasn’t right but he’s had a rough week, actually a few rough years. The thing is he couldn’t have all of those things tattooed on his forehead so a lot of new people he met would judge him instantly without knowing him. It became Yoongi’s coping mechanism.
Y: “Okay, I’ll be there. Thank you.” And he left the shop. On his way to the subway he was thinking about the owner of the shop. He’s never seen anyone smiling that much but, the thing Yoongi was amused by the most was that the man was literally spreading warmth around him. It was hard to admit but he was looking forward to meeting Hoseok again.
Yoongi came home and he set the mug on the kitchen table, as he was looking at it he noticed small “2/2” on the bottom. Was Hoseok telling the truth? Were there only 2 mugs with this design in the whole world?
He made a hot chocolate and grabbed his favourite blanket. It was perfectly quiet, Namjoon wasn’t home, the chocolate smell was spreading throughout the living room and New York looked just so tiny from the 56th floor. Yoongi felt like he was looking at a snowball with tiny building, lights and even more smaller people. He decided to play his old LPs and with head full of Hoseok he fell asleep feeling warm and it wasn’t entirely thanks to the blanket.
20th of December, 7AM
N: “Yo Yoongi, I’m going to work see ya!”
Y: “Huh? What time is it?”
N: “It’s 7am, why?”
Y: “What?! Move!” He pushed Namjoon out of the way as he was trying to get out of the blanket cocoon.
N: “What’s going on Yoongs?” Namjoon stood in the living room with confused expression.
Y: “I’ve got a job and I’m late so I’ll explain later, see ya Joon!” And with that Yoongi was already walking the streets of New York with his beanie almost covering his eyes and the scarf being so big that his face wasn’t visible at this point. His outfit was messy but cozy, he finally reached the shop and he couldn’t wait to step in and take of the heavy layers of clothes.
Y: “Good Morning!”
H: “Morning Yoongi! Here I prepared hot chocolate if you’d like. Me and Jang-mi really love hot chocolate.” Hoseok smiled with his signature heart shaped smile and handed Yoongi the chocolate.
Y: “O-oh thank you-“
H: “You’re welcome! Now come on you have to try on the Santa costume.” Hoseok grabbed Yoongi’s hand and dragged him to the staff room. The smaller boy’s heart skipped a beat and right after that, the warmth from Yoongi’s hand travelled upside right into his heart. He couldn’t help it, he smiled for himself.

Chapter Text
Yoongi and Hoseok walked in the staff room where the Santa costume was already laying on top of an old cabinet.
H: “Here it is.” Hoseok smiled at Yoongi. “As I’m looking at you I think we’ll need to get a bigger belly, you’re really skinny.”
Y: “Haha, yeah I haven’t been eating properly past weeks, I worked everyday and everynight.”
H: “Oh really? You must’ve really liked your job then.”
Yoongi smiled again, Hoseok read through him like if he was picture book.
Y: “Yeah… My job was really the last thing that was keeping me alive. I worked as a music producer, music is really everything to me…” suddenly Hoseok went quiet, Yoongi could almost feel the sadness in the air.
H: “I-I’m sorry to hear that…” he turned back to face Yoongi and sat on the cabinet “You know I used to dance” he laughed with a sparkle in his eyes, displaying the memories in his head. “Like for you music, for me dancing was my ultimate passion however, I got into a car accident and now I have a few screws in my back.”
Y: “Oh no, Hoseok I’m so sorry to hear that.” Yoongi felt awful hearing those words.
With a smile on his face, Hoseok looked up to face Yoongi and said “Don’t be sorry, being grateful is always better, look I’m alive and happy.”
It was time for Yoongi to strip down and try on the Santa costume. Yoongi however didn’t say anything to Hoseok about him being gay and that’s how this awkward situation has had begun. He took off his shirt, revealing his pale snowlike skin but also his ribs.
H: “I think I’ll need to take you on a dinner sometime.”
Y: “I-i i’m sorry, I know I have disgusting body, could you please turn around?” Yoongi crossed his arm on his chest feeling the emberesment.
H: “No silly! You look beautiful, I’m just worried about your health-“
Y: “B-beautiful?? Do you really find this beautiful?”
Hoseok couldn’t help himself, he walked up to Yoongi and grabbed his hand because he felt like wouldn’t be appropriate.
H: “Every person has it’s own beautiful, my mom always tells me to reassure gorgeous and beautiful things about it’s beauty because, they need to hear it in order to believe it.”
The pale shirtless man suddenly felt a warm tear going down his cheek. Yoongi still holding hand with his boss, frozen looking into eachother’s eyes like they found a galaxy in them, no, galaxies. The world has stopped and Yoongi suddenly felt the fear of there not being enough time to spend with Hoseok, even 100 lifes wouldn’t be enough. Yoongi fell in love.
T: “Morning! O-ohh I’m sorry, I should knock next time-“
H: “Jang-mi! Morning!”
Y: “Don’t worry I’m just trying on the costume.” Yoongi grabbed the fake belly and put it on, which made the other two laugh.
Y: “Yaah! Don’t laugh at Santa, you’re going to be on a naughty list.” He laughed with them.
It was almost 5pm which meant that it was around the time when kids will start coming to tell Santa about their biggest wishes. Taehyung was now dressed up as an elf and he was running around the shop, making sure everything was perfect. He sprayed last bits of fake snow and turned on the christmas jazz playlist. Everything seemed perfect, there was already a queue outside the shop, full of giggling kids waiting for Santa.
H: “Are you ready?” Hoseok leaned his hip on the counter and looked at Yoongi.
Yoongi closed his eyes and and bowed his head.
H: “Okay then!”
The Santa and his elf were seated and ready for the kids. Hoseok went to unlock the door and welcome the guests, “Welcome to Hoseok’s tiny miracles, Mr. Claus is waiting for you! Come on!”
The kids screamed and started jumping in excitement, it gave Hoseok so much joy and energy, thinking about some of them not having families or being sick was unbelievably hurtful. He felt like this was the bare minimum he could do for them, Hoseok really loved kids, he always dreamed about adopting kids with his husband someday. Giving them home and family, watching them grow and raising them with his soulmate his best friend his lover.
The event went really smoothly, a few toy cars, barbies, plushies and other toys were given to the kids and a lot of words were spoken. Hoseok was now really busy with the customers so he couldn’t be with the kids. However, Yoongi really needed him this time.
A small girl came up to Yoongi and crawled on top of his lap “Santa, tell me… where are my parents? I’m going to find them when I’m older but just tell me where to look please.”
Yoongi froze, his head went empty, he wasn’t expecting to talk about anything else besides the new toy car with voice recognition or the newest doll who tells you a fairytale before bed. He needed Hoseok, he’s good with his words. Yoongi tried to summon him but the queue infront of the cash register was way too long.
“Santa?”
“It’s okay If you don’t know, keeping so many informations in your head must be stressful. I have one more wish then, could I get a compass for christmas?”
Yoongi was thankful that the beard was catching his tears “Young lady, you’re right. Santa forgets about things sometimes but, I promise you’ll get a letter from me when I remember.” He grabbed something from his elf and handed it to the girl. “Here, this compass is magical, it will always lead you to happiness so don’t forget to follow it every step you take.”
The little girl hugged Yoongi with her tiny arms and that’s when Yoongi noticed that Hoseok was now standing there smiling at them. Hoseok thought about his dream of having family and instead of someone he now saw Yoongi in that role. Hoseok imagined Yoongi sitting on a couch in front of the fire place holding their kids in his arms and telling them stories, while he was baking christmas cookies.
Yoongi was just happy that Hoseok was there.
That day they both fell for eachother, was it really the magic behind those mugs?
