Chapter Text
From his carefree ways you would have never guessed that under his rather childlike and excitable demeanour there was a caretaker hidden, a man that had taken upon himself to take care of the residents in the castle and catch onto the things where the rest failed. It made for a busy day and late nights at times alongside everything else Charles did.
“Come to bed already,” you called out to the redhead when he wouldn’t settle down, rumbling through the books, dusting some imaginary dust, picking up the empty cups of hot milk and setting it back down again. After such a long day it was only natural for the male to have a little trouble to settle down yet. There was such a list to go down to after all, but Charles listened to you, just as he gobbled down every word of yours eagerly.
“Here,” you smile at the male as you open your arms and with a widening smile the male immediately dives into your embrace, snuggling into the crook of your neck as the two of you fall back into the fluffy blankets and pillow forts that made up your bed.
“You’re the best,” Charles whispers to you as he snuggles in closer, eyes already shutting as his body grows lax and you know then that he has finally settled down and is at peace.
Chapter 2: Morning
Chapter Text
Something tickled your nose as you woke up from a deep slumber, a darkness still around you as you wonder what time it is.
“Hrmmm,” the sound of a grumbling partner reaches you as you try to stir, realising that there is a weight upon your chest and arms wrapped around your waist. A collection of fluffy curls comes into view that you know to belong to one man who had affectionately gathered you in his arms like some would cuddle their plush bear.
“Sleep some more,” Charles tells you, his words mushed as his cheek is still firmly pressed against your chest. Neither of his eyes peel open to check the time, blocking out the first signs of the rising sun in his room. The male knew by the amount of light that it was too early to make his rounds in the castle, instead opting to catch some more sleep before the morning truly was to start. The others would be grateful to him for that.
If it was too early for even Charles to wake up you decide it was too early for you as well. Closing your eyes once more you pat down the offending curls that had woken you as you allowed the other some more rest and a peaceful slumber in your arms.
