Merthur Prompts: Hurt/Comfort and Angst Merlin WHUMP! 

Music based prompts: (the song itself is the prompt, the other part is more or less how I see the song playing out)

1. Citizen Solider, Would Anyone Care and Never Good Enough; Merlin feels lost. He feels guilty for the choices he’s been forced to make since coming to Camelot. He feels worthless, like a burden to everyone. With Gaius being out more often and Arthur, Gwen, Morgana and the knights being too busy to interact with the servant (Arthur only speaking to Merlin to give tasks.) Merlin has nothing to keep his mind from wandering to the dark places he tried to stay away from and finds himself standing on the ledge. 

2. Citizen Solider, I am not Okay; Merlin has mastered the art of faking a smile and pretending nothing is wrong. But oh, how he wishes someone would notice soon before it was too late.

3. Taylor Swift, Tied together with a smile; Arthur knows. He can see a lot more than Merlin give him credit for. He can tell when the smiles don’t quite reach his eyes. He’s heard the tears falling when he thinks he’s alone. He knows Merlin is looking for love in all the wrong places, and breaking a little more with each failed attempt. At first, Arthur gives him his space, wanting to give Merlin a chance to come to him, but he soon realizes that may have been the wrong choice. Can Arthur fix his own mistake prove to Merlin he doesn’t have to hide?

4. Smash into Pieces, All Eyes on You; A kidnapped Merlin had been kidnapped and brainwashed into becoming a skilled assassin for a fighting ring. Arthur and the knights never stopped looking, hoping their friend was alive despite the time he’d been gone. One of the knights catches site of Merlin and follows him and his ‘employers’ to the ring. When Arthur learns of Merlin’s state and location he and the knights set out to rescue their Warlock. 

5. Beth Crowley, I scare Myself; Growing up, Merlin believed the world when he had been labeled a monster. Eventually he stopped trying to prove to himself that he wasn’t. Yet after growing close to Arthur he begins to truly fear himself. Will Arthur show him once and for all that he has never been a monster?

6. Beth Crowley, Monster; There’s something wrong with Merlin. He has been hit with a curse that pulls out his most dangerous side and Arthur, Gaius, and the knights have a limited time to find a cure before it is permanent- but will Merlin even want to be saved by then?

7. Fireflight, Unbreakable; BAMF Merlin (have fun)

8. Ashes Remains, Right Here; Arthur’s there for Merlin.

9. Avril Lavigne, Keep Holding On; Merlin is having trouble convincing himself of his self worth. He knows he’s supposedly an all powerful warlock meant to guid and protect his king, but really Arthur’s the important one in the Prophecies. He’s the one that will bring magic back and free his people and he’s already doing that and all without Merlin guiding him to do so. What’s the point of sticking around when he is so worthless? When the great destiny he’s worked so hard to fulfill is unraveling before his eyes without his interference? Arthur finds Merlin standing too close to the edge and convinces the warlock that he is not worthless and that he is the reason for Arthur’s change in opinion for magic. Will he succeed? Or will Merlin stop holding on?

10. Beth Crowley, Savior; How can Merlin be their savior when he can’t even save himself?

11. Three Days Grace, I am Machine;In order to cope with the guilt and burden of his destiny Merlin makes the seemingly irreversible decision to rid himself of all emotions. He’s never been more efficient. But, in Arthur’s words, He just not Merlin. Can Arthur find a way to bring his Merlin back?

12. NF, Paralyzed; Merlin is numb. 

13. Nickleback, Far Away; While on a hunting trip Merlin is kidnapped right in front of the knights by a group of sorcerers/ rogue druids. He is taken back to an old castle where the lord wishes to marry Emrys- soul binding the two together in order to have claim of the magic. Problem is it has to be mutual consent between the two and Merlin refuses to agree and is kept in a room with no escape but a single guarded door and window too high to climb of and is unable to ise his magic due to bindings. Meanwhile Arthur refuses to stop looking despite it being days since the kidnapping. Merlin is told that the wedding/binding will take place the following day and Merlin is horrified to find they have created a circlet that will make Merlin complacent to the lords every word. He begs for Arthur to find him soon. The following day he is forced to wear the circlet and finds himself getting closer and closer to the ceremony, unable to break the enchantment over himself he is forced to sit back and watch. Just as Merlin is about to give his consent Arthur breaks open the doors and seeing the king is enough for Merlin to somewhat overcome the enchantment.

Chapter Text

Canon age Prompts: (Does not have to be exactly as described, the descriptions are just how I imagine them going and would like to read)

1. Loosely based off the song Mordred's Lullaby. While a banquet is going on a witch appears and uses magic to freeze everyone except Merlin (Court Sorcerer or could be a reveal fic). Arthur questions her intent and Merlin watches before acting, but the woman begins to sing and Merlin freezes and Arthur and the knights are terrified to see his eyes go dull and his face slack. They attempt to break her enchantment over Merlin by yelling, unable to free themselves from the spell, as Merlin slowly walks over to the witch. By the end of the song Merlin falls slack into her arms and she vanishes with him. (Can continue from there or not)

2. Merlin hates his birthdays, he used to like them but after a horrific event he no longer finds any joy celebrating that cursed day. Arthur asks Merlin when his birthday is, realizing Merlin had been in Camelot for a few years and never mentioned it. Merlin’s reaction is enough to get Arthur curious enough to keep digging until Merlin eventually caves and tells him why he hates his birthday so much. (Points for having a second chapter where Arthur and the others are determined to help Merlin learn to enjoy his birthday again. Extra points for a third + chapter where his past comes back to haunt him.)

3. Merlin had fled to Camelot for two reasons. One, to learn to control his magic from Gaius, but everyone now knows this. The second reason, however is unknown to anyone but Merlin, his mother and Gaius. He was running from and abusive and dangerous man who is determined to control Merlin’s magic and use for himself, and what better place to hide than the kingdom that had outlawed magic (at that time, also currently magic is still new to the kingdom so Merlin isn’t court sorcerer yet but it is discussed). When the man shows up in Camelot one day, Merlin has no idea what to do and fights between fleeing, using magic to end the man right then and there out of fear, or going to Arthur and the knights. The choice is taken from him when the man catches him alone with an enchanted item that forces Merlin and his magic under his control. 

4. Sigan reveal fic. Sigan succeeds in taking over Merlin, but Arthur was awake to hear the entire exchange and refuses to let Merlin be used despite now knowing Merlin has magic. Sigan gloats and attacks Arthur, Merlin struggles to fight back and Arthur helps Merlin overcome Sigan. They manage to succeed in sealing Sigan away and Merlin is broken by the fact he harmed Arthur with his magic, Arthur isn’t an idiot and refuses to let Merlin blame himself. He also apologizes for the previous events of the episode cuz come on he was a total clot-pole. (The more angst and hurt/comfort the better)

5. Dolma episode (focusing mainly on Merlin’s lack of self worth and how being forgotten effected him, the more angst the better). Merlin doesn’t remind Arthur he forgot him. He confronts Arthur back in Camelot about being forgotten after Arthur complains about Merlin not waking him for breakfast. Arthur realizes his mistake but something in Merlin is broken and he refuses to go back to the way they were. He lets out all his frustrations and ultimately breaks down before walking out on them, claiming he will be back to his duties the following day. When he returns he is stoic and refuses to refer to Arthur as anything but Sire (and not in his usual sarcastic tone) Arthur tries over and over to apologize but Merlin simply deflects. Eventually Arthur is able to get Merlin to drop the mask and is heartbroken to see just how much he hurt his friend and promptly breaks down as well, swearing to spend the rest of his life making up for how horribly he’s hurt his best friend. He is devastated to hear just how little Merlin thinks of himself and knowing he was to blame makes it so much worse.

6. After Arthur dies and Merlin sends him off. Arthur’s ghost/spirit remains on the earth and basically follows Merlin (waiting for the day he returns) and watches Merlin’s life after his death. He watches as his wife banishes Merlin out of grief, watches as Merlin tries to stay strong and wait for Arthur’s return. Watches as Merlin suffers grief when he learns he will outlive everyone he has ever and will ever know. 

   He watches  as Merlin desperately searches for more dragon eggs, nearly killing himself more than once and cries with Merlin as the last of the dragons die out having never succeeded in finding more. He watches as Merlin closes himself off from the world, living nearby the lake in a small cottage. He wants so much to be able to return and physically comfort Merlin but can only stand by and watch as the hundreds of years hardens Merlin’s heart, making him bitter until the day Arthur is finally able to rise again. 

   During a particularly bad night/day Arthur feels himself being pulled back to the lake but tries to fight it in fear of truly leaving Merlin alone but ultimately fails, only for him to wake up on the shore one morning, alive.

   There could even be a part where after a few hundred years,  Merlin tries to travel around the world in an attempt to keep up with progressions. But after witnessing wars, murders, witch trials (when he visited America for the first time) and more (all the while Arthur ‘tags along’ a d is equally if not more horrified.)  He watches as Merlin is almost burned but narrowly escapes and in a fit of rage and fear (Having lived through Uther’s and Arthur’s hatred of magic traumatized him.)

7. Vampire Merlin fic. An old Lord arrives at the castle with the secret intent to turn Arthur and turn him into a 'real monster'. Merlin, of course is suspicious of the lord but Arthur waves off his concerns. That night while Arthur is asleep, the vampire makes its move and goes to attack. Merlin intercepts with magic and Arthur awakens and grabs Excalibur but not in time to stop the vampire from biting and injecting the venom into Merlin. With the vampire dead, the rest of the fic just follows Merlin and Arthur dealing with Merlin's vampirism and Merlin fear of harming those closest to him. (points for going longer than a one shot to explore the struggle Merlin goes through to control his vampire instincts and Arthur having to talk him down from letting them take over Merlin)

8. Arthur has always been able to read minds, a ‘gift’ he has made sure to keep secret from everyone after being told to by his nursemaid. Over the years he has learned to hone this skill to where he can use it at will. Cue Merlin; Arthur, of course learns right away about his magic but finds the boy to be interesting. At first he finds the boy’s thoughts to be entertaining, funny and of course at times makes him feel guilty for not coming clean to settle Merlin’s fears, but he finds over time Merlin's thoughts drift from funny, light hearted and embarrassing to something much darker. The people he’s lost, the mistakes he’s made, the guilt that eats at him. When Arthur realizes Merlin’s mind is becoming darker and darker to the point where Arthur begins to fear for the other’s safety and sanity. Arthur must make a choice. Come clean to Merlin and convince him he is not what he thinks he is, or keep pretending and ignoring his closest friend’s turmoil.

9. After coming to terms with his magic, Arthur is determined to break Merlin of his Lying habits gained from a life of living in the shadows and following the advice of a worried and protective mother, a cautious mentor, and manipulative dragon. Merlin knows he no longer has to hide, but getting over years of programming and living in the shadows is never easy but Arthur refuses to give up on him. (Points for Arthur helping Merlin overcome emotional trauma caused by his life of secrecy and lies.)

10. For Arthur’s birthday, he’s feeling lonely and down after the death of his father- so Merlin decides to give Arthur a really precious gift- he finds a spell that can bring someone back from Avalon for one day. He brings back Arthur’s mother to give the grieving king one day with the woman he’s never gotten to meet.

11. After secretly discovering Merlin's magic, closer eye out for Merlin until he felt safe enough to come to Arthur. Arthur soon begins to realize Merlin is being isolated/manipulated by the dragon and being ill advised to be distrustful of the right people by Gaius and has something to say about it- then having to fix the perfectly good Warlock they broke, especially when it's obvious Merlin is deeply suffering from his life of secrecy and manipulation.

12. Hanahaki prompt where instead of letting himself die when he realizes he has hanahaki, Merlin chooses to rid himself of all memories and feelings for Arthur so that he can stay alive to protect Arthur. Arthur realizes and does everything he can to get Merlin to remember because he was also in love with Merlin and hates that a misunderstanding caused Merlin to suffer so.

13. An endless cycle where Arthur always remembers at some point, sometimes right after meeting Merlin and sometimes before his death, and few times long before they meet.- Merlin never remembers. They always end up back where they started no matter what changes were made or what prophecies prevented or completed. Soon the burden of remembering so many past lives becomes too much for Arthur and he snaps, killing Merlin the moment he remembers only for the guilt to overwhelm him immediately after. Arthur swears to do better and to make it up to Merlin in their next life- except the next life Merlin remembers what was done to him (though nothing before) and swears vengeance.  Arthur now must get through to Merlin before he and all of Camelot suffer for his past mistake.

Modern/ AU Prompts:

1. Collage roommates Au with a twist. Arthur finds himself stuck in a room with Merlin and the two immediately get on each others bad side. The two come to an agreement to simply ignore the other. Merlin is befriend by a couple of Arthur’s friends and the two are more or less forced to spend time together, but that time spent makes them warm up to each other. Arthur and Merlin begin to date eventually and when things seem to be going well a shadow from Merlin’s past appears- an abusive ex- and threatens Merlin but Arthur and the group are having none of that.

2. Witness Protection AU. After witnessing a murder and barely escaping with his own life, Merlin is put into witness protection until the culprits are able to be tracked down and arrested, and Merlin is able to testify against them. He is given a new name and sent far away to live until then (Lance being his undercover guard). He meets Arthur, his new neighbor, and the two hit it off but Merlin is traumatized and terrified to get others involved in his messed up life. Despite the fact he tries to act normal and makes friends with Arthur and the others. Arthur notices how on edge Merlin is and Merlin, despite being told not to tell a soul about his identity, tells Arthur everything. While on a date Merlin spots one of the people he’s hiding from and is crushed, believing Arthur betrayed him as the timing was too coincidental. Arthur notices his change and Merlin, terrified and heart broken accuses him, Arthur swears he didn’t but Merlin is confused, hurt and scared and runs off. He is kidnapped along with Arthur who tried to prevent it. They manage to escape thanks to Arthur and Lance and the men are either arrested or killed off or a mix. 

3. Doctor /Patient AU. Arthur is a doctor/surgeon and has come across many types of patients. He has never had a patient quite as endearing and frustrating as Merlin Emrys, but is disappointed to learn he is in a relationship. However, when Merlin begins showing up more often with worse injuries Arthur becomes suspicious of Merlin’s ‘happy’ relationship he constantly goes on about. He’s been in the job long enough to know abuse when he sees it.

4. Merlin is sentenced to 25 to life after getting revenge against a mugger who shot and killed his fiancé Freya after the man was released from custody for ‘lack of evidence’ (though it turned out the man and the judge were buddies). He plans to let himself fade away, not caring about a life without his beloved, but his cellmate, Arthur (who is the son of a crime boss who is stuck in prison until his men can get him out legally-which usually doesn’t take but a couple weeks), finds himself interested in Merlin and determined to protect and get him released with him after learning how badly the ‘justice’ system has failed the other.

5. 7 Deadly sins prompt I saw on Pinterest: A depressed Merlin moves into a house with 7 demons each corresponding to a deadly sin (aka Arthur and the knights, including Mordred cuz there needs to be 7). They vow to help Merlin in their own ways, but there is more to Merlin than meets the eye.

6. Dragon AU: Long ago a horrifically powerful dragon terrorized the lands, killing and burning everything in it’s path. The kings of the 7 kingdoms banded together with their dragons by taking their DNA (a fact that made them part dragon, able to communicate with their respective dragon via mind link) and was able  to wield  the powers of dragons. Together the kingdoms’ heroes side by side face off against the dragon and are able to lock it away. Throughout the centuries a prince of the royal families would be born as a partner for the dragons for when the evil one returns. Over the years the kingdoms split apart and the dragons vanished and the world forgot about the threat. Merlin, a prince whose kingdom was invaded and taken over, lives with his adoptive parents, unaware of his heritage.

He travels to a nearby kingdom where he meets a dragon hidden away in the cave. He learns about the dragons and how they were betrayed by one of their own and that he is a lost prince destined for greatness. Turns out he shares blood with the dragon and sets off on a mission to gather the heroes and find the dragons as the evil dragon was about to rise. He goes to Camelot and meets Arthur and they set off (after a series of bumps in the road) and gathers the ‘knights’ who are all princes. Once gathered they find out Merlin’s dragon betrayed the dragons and used Merlin who is connected to the evil dragon not the dragon he was led to believe and is forced to betray his friends against his will. The evil dragon is being risen by Merlin and the Heroes have to save him before it’s too late. Merlin’s dragon betrayed their kind and bonded his partner to the evil dragon and waited until he was older to manipulate to get all the heroes and dragons into one place before they had the power to lock away the dragon a second time. The evil dragon has the ability to control Merlin because of the connection even whilst locked away.

7. Skyrim Elder Scrolls V au - Imagine Merlin as the dragon born, captured by Cenred’s men by coincidence when he was crossing the borders. I can see Arthur as the Jarl of Whiterun, the dude does care a lot for his people. Morgana could be the leader of the Dark Brotherhood and Gwaine the leader of the thieves guild? Idk just thought this was a fun idea

Canon or Modern AU

1. Medium Merlin AUs - 

         1. From a young age Merlin has been able to see the dead, yet despite seeing them for so long they still unsettle him when he sees them. He does his best to ignore them and pretend to be normal, but some spirits refuse to be ignored.

         2. Merlin moves to a new home/apartment/flat/ect. that is haunted by Arthur’s ghost. Arthur tries to scare him away, but Merlin is used to the dead targeting him for one reason or another, plus his current residence is the perfect place for someone running from a dark past so Merlin refuses to leave and tells Arthur so- and Arthur is shocked Merlin can not only hear but can see him as well. Arthur and Merlin come to an understanding and eventually grow close, then of course Merlin’s secret past comes back to haunt him, literally.

         3. Ever since he was young, Merlin has been able to (unwillingly) channel spirits who try to find their peace or solve unfinished business through him (some even just looking for another chance at life). Arthur is a (possessive prat) priest/exorcist that says ‘do not touch my psychic boi’. When something dark and dangerous targets Merlin, will Arthur’s skills be enough to save him?

2. Spy/Secret Agent AUs - 

         1. Arthur is a spy/secret agent working undercover to take down crime-lord Cenred King and is assigned to look into Merlin Emrys under the guise of becoming his flatmate. Merlin is a broke university student who happens to be a genius and have magic (though even he doesn’t even know he has it)- and is being used by Cenred  for his intelligence. Of course over time Arthur and Merlin grow closer, despite Merlin trying to chase Arthur off in fear placing Arthur in Cenred’s radar.

         2. Arthur is a spy/secret agent and Merlin is his roommate that is kept in the dark about his friend and secret crushes double life. On the outside Merlin seems like a normal broke, clumsy college student (‘seriously, Merlin, how did you manage to get so banged up walking back from class?’), but when triggered he has a split personality that just so happens to be the enemy Arthur periodically faces. 

         3. Mr.and Mrs.Smith Au

Arthur and Merlin marry, unaware that the other is a spy/assassin.

4. Merlin discovers a mysterious diary that seems to predict the future and must decide whether to trust its predictions or not. But when he realizes the predictions get more grim the more he reads them. He must race to find a way to beat the predictions before the worst can come true.

5. Merlin, Arthur and the knights take a camping trip in the woods, but soon realize they are being hunted by a dangerous creature. Merlin must find a way to save his friends without exposing his magic; except the creature feeds off magic, turning the tables on him.

6. Arthur and his friends are survivors of a shipwreck and washes up on a seemingly deserted island and must find a way to survive and escape. They come across Merlin, who claims to be the sole person to live on the island. Could he be telling the truth? Why does he always seem to be hiding something?

7. Arthur is a government agent goes undercover to infiltrate a dangerous criminal organization. Merlin is the only one suspicious of him and happens to be the son of the head of the group.

8. Arthur and his family moves into a new home, but quickly discovers it is haunted by the spirits of its past residents, one of which is Merlin. And Merlin is eager to get them out.

9. The group of coworkers, Merlin and the knights, along with their boss, Arthur, gets trapped in the office during a snowstorm and must work together to survive without escape, power, limited heat, and a low supply of food.

10. Merlin is turned into his child self during an attack and Arthur and the others must care for him while trying to find a way to revert him. Also magic reveal since child Merlin can’t exactly control his magic.

Chapter Text

Prompts based off of the anime series Saiyuki.

1. Merlin is a child who was locked away in a cave in the mountains with magic restraints by those who feared his power. While up there he never aged, remaining a 16 year old boy for hundreds of years, until he is released. One day he is found and freed by Arthur who takes him back to Camelot.

2. After living hundreds of years trapped on a mountain where the winters are harsh, Merlin is terrified of snow. Arthur finds out why and makes plans with the knights to help him get over his fear.

3. Arthur hates the rain, Merlin tries to find out why but is snapped at to the point Merlin runs away to the knights displeasure. Merlin is kidnapped and used against Arthur. Arthur and the knights have to get through to their mind controlled warlock before he destroys Camelot.

4. Merlin gets terrified when the nobles attempt to lock his magic away out of fear (of his power) and jealousy (at his and Arthur’s close relationship) and he lashes out- his magic out of control as he’s not thinking clearly from the fear. The knights try to calm him down but fail, Arthur arrives and tries. (The knights may be a little jealous that Merlin listens and calms down due to the king but at least he’s safe.)

5. Merlin meets and befriends a village girl working at an inn he, Arthur, and the knights were staying in. He learns that she hates magic users after her family was murdered by magic users. Arthur and the knights have the sense to not out Merlin but make it clear to him that he should not get too attached. The inn is attacked by a magical beast they were hunting and Merlin is forced to reveal his magic to the girl in order to protect everyone. The girl lashes and calls him a monster before running off. The insult hits close to him and Merlin becomes depressed and no matter what Arthur or the knights do he refuses to snap out of it. Arthur decides to have a private moment to say what he really feels (but you better tell no one or you’ll be in the stocks for a week). The girl can either forgive him or not, doesn’t matter

Based off of Steven Universe: 

1. Episode On the Run. Imagine the scene where Amethyst and Pearl are fighting in the Prime Kindergarten except it's Merlin and Arthur and Merlin says "I'm not gonna let you stand there and remind me of everything I hate about myself!" and "I never asked for it to be this way... I never asked to be made (magic/Emrys/ a monster)!"

2. The movie scene. Spinel is Merlin and Steven is Arthur. Arthur, not meaning to betrays Merlin and Merlin loses himself in his hurt and anger."I was just not good enough for you, but now... Now! I'm not good at all!" "It's funny right? At least you found me entertaining... you actually liked me...Didn't you?" "What am I doing? Why do I wanna hurt you so bad?" "I'm supposed to be your friend... I just wanted to be your friend..."

3. Same movie and scene. Merlin spends years watching how Arthur changes and slowly becomes the king he was destined to be. He wants to be proud of him, but Merlin slowly comes to notice he too has changed over the years...and he's not sure he likes who he's become. "When you change- you change for the better. When I change... I change for the WORSE!"

4.  S2E14 Friend Ship. "I'm just a servant. I'm useless on my own."

5. S4E4 Mindful Education. Everything Merlin has done is being played on repeat in his mind, torturing the warlock. "I didn't want to hurt anyone! I'm sorry!  None of them would let me help them. I had no choice!"

Based off of Steven Universe Future :

1.  Everything seems to be fine. Morgana is gone, Magic is free, Camelot is peaceful, Arthur survived Calaman and best of all accepts Merlin's magic. Yet Merlin can't seem to find peace. Basically Merlin dealing with unresolved Fear, Trauma, PTSD, and Anxiety on his own until it threatens to corrupt him. 

2. Scene from S1E4 Volleyball.  Merlin and Mordred moment with Arthur looking in. Merlin is jealous of how close Mordred and Arthur seem and during a quest the three are trapped in an anti magic ruin that threatens to destroy their magic. Arthur finds out just how much his court sorcerer has been hurting when Mordred asks, "How did you stop hurting?" "I didn't." 

3. S1E16 Fragments. Struggling with his ever growing anger and fear Merlin makes a huge mistake while fighting a person who despises Merlin/Emrys- pushing him further and further until Merlin snaps and kills them and is overcome with grief and afraid to admit his mistake to Arthur in fear of what the king will think of him. He believes to atone he must help everyone with everything, but with his mentality so fragmented he ends up causing more trouble  (though unable to see it) and it gets worse until his friends intervene. 

4. S1E18 Everything's Fine. "You think I'm so great. I'm so mature and I always know what to do. You think of me as some saviour...But I'm not that kid anymore! I'm a murderer. A liar...a monster."

Based off of Avatar the Last Airbender:

1. Bloodbending. Merlin meets a magic mentor while on a quest with Arthur. He soon learns the person isn't as kind as they seem. Thanks to them Merlin is forced to use dark magic to defeat them.

2. Avatar...Just avatar. Merlin is the avatar who went missing, Arthur and Morgana find him. Uther is a tyrant who plans to take over the world...and Kilgharrah is Appa...

3. Merlin finds out his entire village and everyone in it was destroyed and lashes out. Arthur comforts him.

Based off of Charlotte:

1. (Set in the anime) Merlin and Mordred are brothers (Mordred still being a child) Merlin has the power of Yuu and used it in order to help he and his brother survive. He is recruited by Arthur and the rest of the group to use his powers for others. 

2. When Mordred dies in an accident caused by his own (unknown) power (Merlin being injured in the collapse of the building) Merlin shuts himself off from the world, locking himself in his own apartment- and eventually runs away when he gets tired of everyone trying to get him to open up. (perspective follows Arthur) He is unaware that Arthur has been by his side the entire time, watching helplessly as Merlin falls further and further away from himself- picking fights with thugs, abusing his powers and so forth. When Merlin almost goes too far Arthur decides to put a stop to it. He just hopes he can get through to him.

Based off of Snow White with the Red Hair:

1. Merlin is a small herbalist in the kingdom of Essetir. When he is targeted by the spoiled prince Cenred for his beauty and magic, Merlin runs away- crossing the border to Camelot. (Basically the fic follows the anime only it's Merlin and Arthur) 

Based off the anime Itazura na Kiss

1. After an earthquake destroys their house, Merlin and Hunith are invited to live with an old high school friend of Hunith's. That old friend happens to be the mother of one of the biggest prats in Merlin's school, Arthur Pendragon. Thankfully he has Morgana and Ygraine on his side (though Morgana loves to tease the raven haired boy for his obvious crush on Arthur, and Ygraine seems to spend most of her time plotting his and Arthur's marriage with his own mother). (Can be Modern with or without Magic)

1. Casper Meets Wendy Au- Merlin is a young wizard who lives with his 2 witch/wizard friends Morgana, Mordred and his great uncle (also a wizard) Gaius- in which he feels like the outcast. They go on vacation to hide from Cenred (who wants Merlin’s power) where Merlin meets a ghost named Arthur (in which Ghosts and magic users don't get along). In order to remain hidden from Cenred’s eye, Merlin is unable to use magic.

3. Jumanji Au (Original)- Arthur as Alan Parish and Merlin as Sarah Whittle. Mordred and Morgana as the siblings. 

TV Show Prompts: 

1. Grimm- Merlin is a detective who learns he is a Grimm. Arthur is his partner who is kept in the dark at first. (I really wanna see Gwaine as Monroe just cuz XD)
