Ah, another peaceful day at Jabberwock Island, the killing school trip had ended a month ago and everyone was happy now.
Well, except one person, Nagito Komaeda.
Nagito was alone at his cottage, he wouldn't go out that often anymore, he would only get out of his room to take food and go back inside to his little world, no one actually knew why he wouldn't come out of his room anymore, with some people thinking he was planning to explode the island once again, which made some people break into his cottage to make sure he wasn't planning to do anything, and he wasn't.
He always told everyone that he just didn't want to leave his cottage cause he didn't want to bother amazing people like them, which some people understood while others suspected him even more.
You're probably thinking of what could've happened to make him so introverted all of the sudden, what happened is...
He had enough.
Komaeda was done with everything, he was already on the verge of death anyways, he will die at any second, there's no use to keep trying to go after the one he loves, the one who he wished that could love him back.
Who is "the one"? Hajime Hinata, his best friend's lover.
Yep, you read it right, Hajime was dating Komaeda's best friend, Chiaki.
Oh, the despair gives me chills.
He had given up on any hope left that could possibly make Hajime love him, of course it hurts, but he didn't want to get in the way of Hajime and Chiaki's perfect relationship, everyone in the island congratulated them when they revealed that they were dating, even Hiyoko who would probably make fun of something about them being together, everyone on the island loved them.
And everyone hated Komaeda.
He let a tear slide down his cheek after remembering that, "It hurts, it hurts too much." Nagito said while trying to wipe them off, which was impossible since they kept falling.
Why? Why Hajime wouldn't look at him like he looks at Chiaki? Why Hajime wouldn't treat him like he treats Chiaki? Why Hajime couldn't love him like he loves Chiaki?
Every time he would think of Hajime, his heart would ache, it was painful.
He wished death would come faster, if not, he would do it by himself, with no hesitation, with no regrets.
Komaeda looked at the clock, 7am already huh, did he really spent all night crying over someone? That was embarrassing, he felt like some kind of school girl after breaking up with her quarterback boyfriend.
Nagito got up and got dressed in his usual outfit, he then left his cottage and walked to the hotel to get some food and lock himself in his cottage again, it was his routine at this point, wake up, grab some food, lock himself up for the rest of the day and then sleep, then it repeats.
He was tired because he didn't sleep at all last night, all because of a stupid boy, what a bad luck.
Komaeda entered the Hotel Lobby and got struck with one of the most painful scenes for him.
Wow, heartbroken two times just today? Someone please give my boy some rest, he must be tired from all this bullshit.
What he saw? Hajime and Chiaki, together, holding hands and laughing about some game.
Nagito didn't even talked to them, he straight up walked out of that place and ran to the supermarket, trying to stop the tears from running down his cheeks.
Komaeda enters the supermarket and grabs some chips and candy, then proceeds to run to his cottage and lock himself in it.
He turned on his laptop, he bought it with some of the money his parents left him after dying, but that's not the point.
Nagito was thinking what Chiaki and Hajime could be doing right now, probably holding hands or playing games at Chiaki's cottage, that lovey-dovey bitches.
His heart began to ache again, the tears threatening to fall, he felt so weak, crying that much over a stupid person, A STUPID BOY!
But he couldn't stop it, the tears where already all over the place, he wanted to scream, he wanted to get over it, get over him.
They were happy, his best friend was happy, why HE couldn't be happy for them, so selfish for wanting his best friend's lover, fucking hell.
Tears here, tears there, they kept falling, no matter what, it was painful, how come love hurt so much?
He just wanted it all to end, he wanted to light the world on fire, but does it matter if he wouldn't let a flame touch Hinata?
He gave up after some time, just watching the tears drip down his eyes, until it would finally stop.
After some time had passed, he heard a gentle knock on the door, Komaeda got up and opened the door to reveal a blonde girl with crystal blue eyes, also known as Sonia Nevermind, his cousin.
"I need to tell you something, can I get inside?" Sonia said, looking in the eyes of the man in front of her.
"Sure, come in." Komaeda said while giving the way in to Sonia, who enters the place and closes the door.
"Okay, so" The blonde said and sat down in the bed, "I'm in love with someone and it isn't Gundham."
Nagito looked at her, he sat down in a random chair at his room and opened his mouth but Sonia cut him off.
"And it isn't a guy." Okay, now Komaeda was surprised, but not disappointed.
"Meh, it's no problem, after all" He paused and fixed his posture, "I'm gay and I'm in love with a guy from the island." Komaeda finished, showing his iconic closed-eyed smile.
"Really, who is it?" Sonia said, stars grewing on her eyes.
"I'll only say it if you tell yours first" Nagito said, hoping she wouldn't have the courage to tell him.
"Oh well, It's..." Sonia's words got stuck in her throat for a second.
"It's Chiaki."
