Chapter Text
Lucifer watched as his twenty one year old daughter Rory began to fade away in his arms. Chloe was next to him holding their daughters hand.
“Don’t go!” She begged.
Rory gave a small smile. “I won’t be gone long mom, you will get to meet me soon.” She said, eying Chloe’s stomach.
Lucifer took in a shaky breath. “I swear I won’t abandon you.” He whispered in her ear.
“You have to!” Rory exclaimed. “The loop needs to be reset so I can come back!”
They were interrupted by a bright light as Amenadiel appeared wearing a long white robe. Clearing his throat he spoke in a deep voice.
“Rory, I am here to stop the loop from continuing in this painful way. As I ascend the throne I will send you back to your time Rory, and we will all keep our memories. Your father wants to help souls in Hell but he doesn’t have to be there all the time. Once Chloe passes you can start to commit full time to your role helping in Hell.”
Lucifer’s eyes watered. “But….What about the paradox?”
Amenadiel slowly walked up and placed a hand on his shoulder. “I am God, I will deal with it.”
Rory sobbed with joy but then looked between her parents. “What will happen when I go back now?”
Lucifer kissed her forehead. “Hopefully I will be there with you and your Mum.” He said softly.
Rory took a shuddering breath. “Alright.” She said softly then turned to Chloe. “I love you mom.” Hugging her again. Then her father gave him a soft smile. “Love you dad, I look forward to a better future.”
“You have my word, my darling.”
With that she faded away.
Chloe sobbed as Lucifer held her and began rubbing her back. “We will make the future better for her, my love.”
“I know I will just miss her.”
Lucifer chuckled softly as his right hand moved over her stomach. “We will meet her soon.”
Amenadiel cleared his throat. “I best be on my way, I want to say goodbye to Charlie before I spend my weekend in the Silver City.”
Chloe rushed forward and hugged him. “Thank you….thank you for helping us.”
“Yes, brother. I am eternally grateful to you.”
Amenadiel bowed his head and in a bright ray of light he was gone.
Left alone in the penthouse Chloe and Lucifer.
A phone call broke them apart. Trixie’s name flashed across the screen, Chloe was fast to answer it.
“Hey, Monkey. Are you doing okay up at camp?”
“Yeah….” Trixie said in a small voice. “I just….I really miss you mom.”
“Honey I miss you too, don’t worry I will be there to pick you up next week.” She walked out to the balcony and sat on a patio chair.
“I know, I just….I ran into an old friend of Dad’s and I just feel a little down. I can’t wait to see you and Lucifer.”
Lucifer had come out onto the balcony and was leaning against the railing, a smile on his face. Turning he held out his hand for the cell phone. His eyes held the silent questions ‘May I?’
“Hello urchin.” He greeted her as Chloe passed it to him. “I just wanted to check in on you. I hope you don’t mind if I accompany your mother to pick you up?”
She scoffed. “Of course not! I miss you too.”
“Lovely, see you in a week, Trix. If you need anything, call your mother or even drop me a prayer.”
“Whoa! Does that really work?”
He chuckled. Yes, It certainly helps that you know me, I will be able to hear you from anywhere.” Lucifer assured her.
“Okay, bye mom, bye Lucifer. Love you!”
Lucifer met Chloe’s eyes with a look of relief. They were here together. They were safe. He would see the birth of his daughter and be there for her as she grows. He would take care of Trixie as well, and protect both of his daughters.
As they watched the sun set they cuddled together until the stress of the day began to cause Chloe’s eyes to droop.
“Come darling, let's get in bed. I can see how exhausted you are.”
She nodded slowly. “I can’t believe you are here. I love you so much.”
Helping her up he placed a gentle kiss on her lips. “I love you too Chloe.”
After Chloe fell asleep Lucifer found himself wandering the penthouse. Wondering how to prepare now that he knew he was staying. Spying the Christmas gifts he had bought for Rory he laughed as he pulled the giant teddy bear out of the box. He didn’t know much about babies but he wanted it in her room when they brought her home from the hospital.

A Few days later Lucifer met Chloe at her apartment.
“Hello darling.” He greeted as he walked in with the bear under one arm and a box full of baby clothes in the other. “I come bearing gifts!” He held out the teddy with a laugh.
Chloe laughed as well.
“I set up the nursery upstairs in Maze’s old room. Mostly just cleaning it up a bit before the furniture arrives on Tuesday.”
He nodded. “Yes, the crib is the safest one made in the world. Top of the line. It better keep our little urchin safe.”
Chloe rolled her eyes. “I know babe, don’t worry we know Rory will be okay.”
He nodded slowly. “Yes, well we are in uncharted territory.”
“Between you, Maze and Amenadiel I think the baby will have a lot of protection.” She took his hands. “I’m scared too but I know we can do this. Together.”
He smiled. “Together.”

The night before they were due to pick up Trixie, Lucifer was nervously watching Chloe as she finished the paperwork for her reinstatement on the LAPD.
“Are you sure this is wise?” He finally said, she raised a brow so he held up his hands in defense. “Easy there.” He defended. “I just wonder if you should wait until after the offspring is born before we return to work.”
Chloe sighed. “Lucifer, I’m not even a month pregnant yet.” Then she came to stand in front of him. “I know you are worried but we will protect each other out there.”
“Very well.” He huffed. “I guess celebrations are in order, to the birth of our upcoming daughter and the return to the police force.”
Grabbing the scotch he had stored in her upper pantry cabinet and began to pour a glass.
Chloe laughed. “At least you know I can’t drink alcohol.”
He chuckled. “I remember Doctor Linda mentioning it when she announced her pregnancy.”
“Well, then I suppose it’s a boring old sparkling water for me.” Chloe declared as she grabbed a bottle from the fridge. “Cheers.” She said as they clinked glasses together.
“To our future.” Lucifer said softly. “Our future together.”
A few tears escaped her eyes. “Together.” She whispered. “To you Lucifer, a wonderful father.”
He smiled. “I hope to be.”
“You will. Have faith.”
He kissed her. “I have you Chloe, you are my faith, my everything.”
After a moment they broke apart. She turned back to her papers. “How does two weeks from monday sound as a start date back to work sound?”
“It sounds lovely, Detective.”
