Chapter Text
"THERE SHE GOES! DARK HAS SUCCESSFULLY STOLEN 'Cor fragilis amor'!" a reporter said as Dark flew past the moon, wearing said artwork around her neck as she landed a good distance away where the police won't reach for at least an hour.
"Ha! That was too easy," Dark scoffed as she reached for the photo in one of her pockets, changing back into Daisuke, a young dainty looking girl with wild red hair and eyes to match. A stark contrast from the mature body of the purple eyed and haired Dark angel within her.
She sighed as she looked at the picture of Satoshi for a bit longer, Daisuke loved him but she noticed through Dark's eyes how he looked to be in pain; so much so that he couldn't even go after her like usual when she stole. Krad was always trying to take over when Dark revealed herself for a heist, when the tamer saw him for the first time felt different, he radiated ill intent but was flirtatious like Dark.
"Maybe Krad was giving Satoshi a hard time again," murmured Daisuke as she stood up, only to hear flapping wings slightly above her. Spinning around in alarm, the art thief saw him; pristine white wings, stray feathers falling and catching the moonlight, and golden yellow eyes borrowing into ruby red.
Krad landed a few feet away from Daisuke, who like the last time they met, was fumbling to get Satoshi's picture from her now oversized pockets. The trees around them rustling in the ominous night air and With growling from the ginger's shoulder.
Stalking closer to her Daisuke, the girl flinched as she saw the wall of the park she had unknowingly trapped herself. "Wah!" she yelped in surprise as Krad trapped her with his arms, "Hi-Hiwatari-ku-" "You know who I am," he interrupted the thief's stuttering.
"H-Huh?" Daisuke asked a bit surprised, "I said call me by my name, Human!" the white angel reiterated aggressively.
"Kyuu!" With cried trying to protect his Mistress, only to be pat away by Krad to the ground, "With!" Daisuke said with concern, but Krad grabbed her chin to turn her attention to him again. "You always turn away or see my tamer, if you want to stay alive another night, call me by my name Daisuke Niwa," he said looking deep into her eyes.
Daisuke was a bit put off by the request, she had never seen Krad's eyes show such emotion before... it was like he was desperate and looking for something. "Daisuke." "It's okay, Dark, I think he means it," she told her other half. Putting her hands to her chest and taking a deep breath, "Krad," she said looking up at the blonde man in front of her.
For the first time in time of knowing him, Daisuke with the extension Dark, saw Krad's yellow eyes soften at them. "Your actions... always seem to still my tamer and I," he chuckled, taking a lock of the Niwa's bright red hair gently into one his hands, "I see why he's so interested in you, without Dark as a factor," kissing girl's red hair.
Both Daisuke and Dark were red in the face, the artist from embarrassment and the fallen angel from a mix of that and anger. Having nothing more to say, Krad flew away, leaving the two beyond confused; he himself had no idea why he said all that, it was as if his buried feelings leaked out.
"Dammit Master...! Why must you be so captivated...?!" said a livid Krad who had transformed back into Satoshi Hiwatari.
The last Hikari looked at the apparition with a side glance over the shoulder, "Why ask when you already know?"
Notes:
The artwork stolen in the story is my own creation, you won't find it on the list of major or minor artworks on the Wiki.
Cor fragilis amor- A heart themed necklace made mostly of entrokitly designed crystal and colored glass, the clasp being made of silver. A defective artwork that can be broken easily, it's only power is to make people and artwork see how fragile their emotional walls are.
Chapter 2: A Reason to Smile

Chapter Text
Satoshi was here yet again in his dreams, the white void with red tapestries, it's the place where he and Krad talk...
Well, more accurately, it's where he and Krad fight for power over Satoshi's own body.
But it was different this time.
Krad was calm, like before when he had spoken to Daisuke and there was a table set he was sitting at with an empty seat; probably for the tamer.
Sitting down the two halves looked at each other, "Master, I have noticed a change in the two of us," the white angel began, "Our transformation is no longer sparked by our need to capture Dark, but... I can't fathom what it is now!"
Satoshi kept his cool and responded, "I'm surprised you caught on to this change after being in denial so long," he said, leaning back in the chair. "I was afraid of feeling anything because I thought you would take over and kill someone, but now, I think you're afraid of these new emotions budding inside us."
Krad became defensive and stood up, "Don't be ubsard! Why would I be afraid of trivial things like emotions?!" "Because then you'd be more like her," his tamer explained, "You'd be just like Dark."
The blonde's golden eyes widened, "Niwa and Dark change when they feel love, our reason was negative but now I think you know it's the same now, Krad," Satoshi said narrowing his blue eyes at the artworks golden ones.
"Master Satoshi... don't you dare say it..!" Krad growled with his bangs covering his eyes.
The tamer only sat up and walked over to a wall of pictures with scattered rose heads and petals on the ground, they were the memories the two shared since becoming aware of each other.
At the end was a recent memory they each had of a certain red haired girl smiling at each of them, "I won't hide it and I know you can't either, instead we change now because we want to capture her heart, we want Daisuke to steal us away from our fates."
"Hi-Hiwatari-kun!"
"You paint Niwa?"
"A-Ah y-yeah... I'm not very good though."
"It's good. I could never draw something like this."
"Of course you could! Because I think you're amazing!"
Satoshi had closed his eyes to remembering the smile Daisuke gave him that day in the art room, Krad had hit the wall as he remembered the gentle smile he had also gotten from her when he had to pass for his tamer for a day.
"Hiwatari-kun."
"Here, I have more than enough food."
"Why would you do that?"
"Hm? I saw you only had stale bread..."
"My diet shouldn't be your concern, Niwa."
"But I care about you, of course I'd be concerned."
"Even if we could deny these emotions now, could we stay that way?" the tamer asked the angel who just narrowed his eyes in frustration.
"I didn't think so."
Notes:
No new fan artworks this time, and like I always warn, if you don't like genderbend don't read or leave a nasty comment okay?
Chapter 3: Inspiration and Little Disciple
Summary:
A young girl meets a woman painting a beautiful landscape.

Chapter Text
Rio Hikari was taking a break from her attempts at finishing the Black Wings, deciding to work a piece to relax her. She had brought a small foldable table with her as she had injured her left arm when working on the massive incomplete canvas, so she put pallet on the table as to rest it.
"It will be Satoshi's birthday soon, I can't believe he's almost 5 now..." Rio thought herself when she heard tiny footsteps behind her. Looking back she saw a little girl bashfully hiding behind part of the fountain, chuckling a bit the Hikari smiled at her, "It's alright to come over," she said. The girl hesitantly revealed herself from her hiding places, showing her red eyes and hair. Her outfit consisting of a bright yellow hoodie with puffy sleeves, a white long sleeved shirt, a white skirt, baggy white socks and red velcro shoes.
The girl came over to her, playing with her fingers bashfully, "I-I'm sorry for staring," she apologized. The artist assured her it was alright and continued painting, "Miss, um, your picture's very pretty," the child complimented. Rio kept her smile, "Thank you, though it isn't finished yet," she explained as painted the cliff that was in the distance away from them.
The girl watch mesmerized as the Hikari painted the scene in front of them, adding her own mystical flare to the landscape. Rio took note of the girl's wide eyes of wonder, "Would you like to paint something?" she asked, startling the girl who blushed profusely. "I-Is that okay?"
Adjusting the size of the islte to fit the child and taking out a spare canvas, the woman handed her the pallets and brush, "You can paint whatever you like." Daisuke beamed and had her sit down, "I wanna paint you, miss, you're as pretty as my mommy," she said sweetly. Rio was a bit shocked but giggled it off, letting the young girl do as she wished.
When the painting was done, the girl showed the woman her work, it wasn't as accurate but still well done for someone her age. "You did very well, is it your first time?" she asked patting the girl's head who shook it, "Mm-mm, we paint a lot in preschool."
"Daisuke!"
The little girl turned to the shout, presumably her father calling for her, "Bye bye Miss, my daddy is looking for me," she said bowing respectfully. Rio smiled softly and handed the girl her painting but Daisuke pushed it gently back over, "You keep it Miss, I saw you had a big ouchie on your arm, it's a get better present."
With that Daisuke left, running over to where her father was. He chuckled cleaning the paint from her cheeks and hands before they walked home together.
Rio looked down at the portrait of her Daisuke made, she knew the girl was a Niwa. Her red hair and eyes were a giveaway, but she'd treasure this gift. Putting both canvases away, she started on her own way home.
Notes:
This is Canon to main D.N. Angel fic, since I had an idea for Rio to have inspired Daisuke to become an artist.
Chapter 4: Ancestral Interactions
Summary:
The Ancestors of the Niwa and Hikari have their first meeting, seems the family's called out to each other long before they were connected by cruel fate.
Notes:
Niwa x Hikari
For context, the manga shows the first holders of Dark and Krad in flashbacks from before and after the ritual to complete the dark was inacted/failed.
I'll be giving them pretty plain names that just feel like character descriptions, y'know like in fairy tales.
Chapter Text
The Phantom Thief had caught wind of a very special up and coming artist, deciding to see if his art was worth her time she visited the local gallery and her face showed amazed awe. It was more than worth it, the piece was mesmerizing in every way.
Just how she liked it!
Her first heist for a Hikari artwork was more than easy but she had found yet another beautiful thing, the artist himself, staring up at her as she was about to leap from her escape route. Smiling she said something that would stick with the man, "I'll come see you later~☆," she winked before disappearing into the night.
True to her word, Phantom Thief Dark appears to him again, "Hello Mr. Hikari!" she said beaming and startling the long haired artist. "W-What the?! How did you get in here?" he asked shocked, "I'm a professional, you should really invest in more challenging locks," she teased, giving his nose a boop. Niwa backed away, "Don't worry, I won't take anything this time, I just came to watch you paint."
These visits continued along with the heists, along with the theif's teasing. "You should really get out more," she said after pulling Hikari's hair tie out, letting the man's long blue hair fall on his shoulders. Annoyed he stopped working on his next piece and stood up, "Would you stop that?! I'm trying to concentrate!" But his tiraid was stopped when Niwa held a white ribbon in front of him.
"If you'd been paying attention, you'd have noticed how ratty this thing is now," she said waving the tattered hair tie in her other hand. Dropping her teasing attitude for a bit, the red head turned him around and tied his hair back with the ribbon she brought. "You didn't steal this ribbon too, did you?" he asked unamused, "Rude!" she said offended, "I'll have you know this actually belongs to me, white just fits you better."
He looked back at her to see her smiling at him, "Y'know..." she started before going goofy again, "I think we're at the point we should stop calling each other by our last names," she declared. Hikari blushed and shouted again, "Hey! you can't just decide that by yourself Niwa!" "Akatsuki," the thief corrected, "My name is Akatsuki." Hikari looked at her intently to see if she was joking, "Well? Aren't you going to say yours?"
The artist hesitated before finally saying it, "It's Haruku," he told her, "Are you happy now?"
Akatsuki giggled and rested her face in her hand, "Very☆," she winked.
Months went by like this and Haruku was soon looking forward to Akatsuki's visits, even if she stole his work and from the protests of his students. "Perhaps, I should paint something for her?" he wondered to himself with a soft expression.
When she came in that night giving a cheery 'Good evening!' the artist quickly hid his progress in sudden, uncontrollable embarrassment. "Hey~ You hiding something Haru-kun?" Akatsuki teased trying to peak at the canvas, "No! I just..! This is... YOU CAN'T SEE IT YET OKAY!" he yelled with an red blush to rival the girl's rose colored hair.

Needless to say, the first Hikari's feelings of love... would be overwritten with hate in the time to pass...
Chapter 5: The Boy of the Mirror
Summary:
The spirit of Insomnia looks through his window into the real world, only hear a voice of someone... a girl saying he was great.
Notes:
Spoiler Territory kinda, so if you haven't read Vol. 14 of the manga go do that.
Chapter Text
Rokuto wandered in his world of mirrors, passing by the people he's long since imprisoned for calling him 'scary', 'ominous' and 'scary'!
He just... wanted to be real, like the Black Wings, he wanted to live in the world they did... he kept his back to the mirror, the reflections of humans in the real world passing him by. Pulling his knees to his chest his ears perked up as he heard the doors to his reflective surface opened.
Rokuto looks at the twin girls and the curator, the older gentleman explained how he would soon be disposed of, making the artwork sorrowful again.
Then he saw it, the white half of the Black Wings and his tamer saying it was best he be destroyed as well. Rokuto balled his hands into fists, he detested how even a creator hated his very presence! The angel beside the boy, smirking with arrogance at the mirror entity.
"Scary huh? Well I like it, it's interesting," the short haired twin said walking away.
They were gone as quickly as they came so he couldn't take the long haired one or the Hikari in to his world, he doubted they'd be back anyway.
"Is this the door Hiwatari was talking about?" another voice said, this one more soft spoken gentle. Rokuto opened his eyes and saw the black half of the Black Wings, the half he and other artworks strive to be like. He'd never seen one of Dark's tamers before, he'd only heard that they had striking red hair and eyes.... and those rumors were more than true as the girl infront of his door looked at him in wonder.
"Insomnia," The dark angel said, point the girl's eyes to the plaque with his name on it. The two spoke of a target the Black Wings was after, the Niwa sighed, "Well what about this one?" she asked as she opened the doors.
The artwork gasped in shock...
Was she serious? Did she really want to take him from this Museum? Rokuto hesitantly reached for the surface of the mirror that separated him from the world the two occupied.
"No. We don't need this one, it's too much of a hassle," The black wing denied the girl's idea and Insomnia felt that small feeling of hope he had shatter. "What?! Even though it's so beautiful?!" the Niwa asked just as shocked at her other half's statement. Turning to the reflective surface the two's eyes widened as Dark was reflected by Insomnia.
Now he was more than angry, Rokuto was denied again! While the girl panicked trying to see if her counterpart was truly being reflected he saw the Hikari and the twins return. Smirking he began to shine when Niwa blocked his mirror with her body.
"DAISUKE! DON'T LOOK!" the creator cried as he pulled her away from surface and covered her eyes, but foolishly looking into the mirror where instead of his own reflection he saw Rokuto. The long haired twin had also looked at him, drawing the two into his world, leaving Krad in the Hikari's body alone.
"I can see you..." Rokuto said with a sinister smile.
"MASTER SATOSHI!" "RISA! SATOSHI!" the black wings cried out together as the boy and girl were taken into the mirror world. Rokuto didn't care who he copied, so long as he could live like the Black Wings did, and in the world where the Niwa and the short haired twin truly were.
"I want your being... Your everything..."
The creator, now known to be named Satoshi reached for the door seeing what he believed to be his parasitic other half but really it was another reflected copy which took his wrist.
"Welcome, to my world."
The Hikari soon fell asleep letting Rokuto create a world from his memories, also allowing the artwork to figure out what he needed to do in order to take Satoshi's place...
This time...
This time for sure...
He would become a living breathing person, not just copy or reflection!
After all, no one could reject him then...
Chapter 6: SatoDai 2022: Special Chapter
Summary:
How I plan to do SatoDai this year, this will be small but I wanted to contribute something.
So it'll be something sweet, wholesome with just a cute thing.
Chapter Text
It was a rare occurrence, Daisuke and Satoshi had been assigned to make each other's portraits for an art assignment.
"It'll be due at the end of the week," the teacher told the class, "Aside from that, you can add whatever you like to the picture so long as your partner is the main part of the piece."
Everyone else got together with their partners but Daisuke and Satoshi we naturally nervous to be so close to each other, the two afraid of transforming into Dark and or Krad in the middle of the room.
"Geez... I get the teacher doesn't know but this couldn't have been a worse pairing," Dark said to her tamer as she got her canvas for the assignment, "But we can't skip out on it, and Hiwatari is good at holding Krad back, hopefully he won't try to cause a scene..." The Niwa somewhat agreed.
Satoshi was having a similar talk with Krad, "You can't come out, as much as you hate Niwa and Dark, we're in school and innocent people could get hurt," Satoshi warned the white angel inside him. "Of course Master Satoshi, but do keep your distance as much as possible, even if you tell me not to, I will come out if my distance to Dark is too small," Krad agreed.
He got his canvas and the two decided Daisuke would pose for hers first, "Sit as still as possible Niwa," Satoshi instructed as she sat infront of the easal.
"Okay," she nodded, Satoshi asked her pose infront of the window, allowing the sun to better define the shadows. "I've never posed for a portrait, it feels like he's staring at me," Daisuke thought with blush going across her cheeks.
"Niwa."
"Y-Yes, Hiwatari?"
"I've finished the sketch," the Hikari heir, flipping over the canvas, "W-Wow, it looks just like me," she stammered. Doing the best she can to not let Dark's teasing get the better of her, "Um, could you pose infront of the art books?" Daisuke asked setting up her canvas.
Satoshi got a stoll and sat infront of the books facing Daisuke, she took a deep breath and started sketching. Meticulously observing every detail of his face and build, "Damn you're really into this."
"She is taking her time Master, I wonder how she sees you," Krad wondered, as he floated in phantasmal form to inspect the Daisuke's work. The tamer saw the drawing and was unpleasantly satisfied with the work.
"What do you think Hiwatari?" she asked Satoshi after showing him her sketch of him. His eyes widened a bit, "You did well, Niwa," he complimented. Daisuke beamed at the recognition, "Thank you, Hiwatari!"
"I'm so glad you like it," she said hugging the canvas close.
Chapter 7: White Ribbon
Summary:
In Emiko's days as Dark, the two find a very interesting boy while on their way home after a heist.
Notes:
How Kosuke and Emiko met in my other DN Angel fic, it's short and sweet.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
"I'm starting think Rio is going easy on us," Emiko sighed in mock disappointment as she had yet another successful heist. Black Wings on her back as she sat at rooftop away from the police searching for her and Dark.
"You're practically a natural, you only call me out when it's dire," the dark angel within her praised, her spectral form leaning back to back with Emiko. "Shall we fly home Emiko?" she asked as her tamer landed on the street, swapping her feathered earrings for pearl ones and putting on a brown trench coat.
"No I think we should take the... scenic... route..." Emiko declined which slowly stopped as she saw a young man from her photography course at university standing not too far away in complete shock.
"N-Niwa-san-" he stammered before being pulled behind a nearby tree where she caged him in. "Umai! How much did you see?!" she asked seriously, her burgundy eyes staring into his chocolate ones. The art history major could barely speak for a time before answering her, "I- I saw everything..." Kosuke admitted, "Niwa-san.. are you the Phantom Thief Dark?" he asked.
Dark giggled in her spirit form, "Emiko, isn't this the one you like? The one from your class?" "Y-Yes, I can't believe he saw me like this.." Emiko answered, turning away from Kosuke. "I wanted to impress him by flying to him on valentines day night!" she whined, making the angel in her sigh. "You're a romantic at heart, aren't you?" Dark asked resting her head in her palm, "Didn't you do the same thing with my grandfather!" the tamer argued out loud.
"Um pardon me Niwa-san, but why are you talking to yourself?" the forgotten man said stopping the mental back and forth. Emiko's face becoming as red as her hair, "U-Um well you see, it's... much more complicated than that Umai," she said nervously.
Kosuke smiled, "I have time, but if you're worried, your secret is safe with me."
Notes:
I made "Umai" Kosuke's last name before marrying Emiko because it means picture or photograph.
Chapter 8: Bell Tower
Summary:
This may become canon later in the story, however for now, this is how I think the Bell Tower from Vol. 20 would look and act
Chapter Text
I was one of the few pieces my creator made for his beloved, though I suppose I was the last one he made with her in mind.
It's been hundreds of years since then, my sound was something she could hear, something I'm sure she cherished to the end.
But how would I know? I can only roam my tower, sounding off when certain times are reached... Though my other purpose is something I don't enjoy, stealing power just to be destroyed later for the completion of the Black Wings.
I can feel my fellow artworks get weaker, Eternal Guide... Manismare... Argentine... Qualia... and so many others. They were either destroyed or were turning to stone as I zapped their magic from them.
And even now, I feel my own power draining away as who I assume is the last creator is forced to toil away at the Black Wings as his ancestors before him had. Plagued with mad ravings of the White wing being whispered into his mind and soul.
But even so, I'm unable to venture into my own deepest depths to even attempt to rescue him...!
.
.
.
But perhaps... I can use the last of my magic, signal one who can...
I see them, the Black Wing and the beloved woman's descendant, I'm sure...
My tolling bells, I'm sure their sound will reach them and they will put an end to this centuries long strife.
*Bong!*
*Bong!*
*Bong!!*
Chapter 9: Unexpected Request
Summary:
(Spoilers Ahead)
Rio has asked Elm Root, aka Kei Hiwatari a very unexpected request.
She wants to have her child with it/him
Chapter Text
"I'm sorry Rio? I think I may have misheard you," the artwork chuckled, uncharacteristically dumbfounded.
"You didn't Elm Root, but I will say it any it again for clarity," a woman with long flowing sky blue hair said looking up at him, setting down a paint brush. Turning away from her family's long unfinished masterpiece, "I want you to be the father of my child."
Elm Root Sar down on the women patio table set as it unheard of, an artwork as the father of a Hikari. Rio sat across from it and decided to explain, "To be frank, there is no human I trust to give me such a thing," she admitted. "Miss Rio, we have no idea if such a thing is possible," it tried to smile off, "But isn't it worth trying?" the artist asked.
"You've always been with my family, taking care of us and watching over the children when the parents were no longer alive due to the curse," Rio stated, looking into Elm Root's brown eyes as he looked into her blue. "There's no one, human or artwork, I trust more than you, and think, what would a child like ours be like?" she smiled, looking out to the garden.
Elm Root could only stare at her, looking down at his lap as he thought about it. So many emotions swirling in his mind, thinking of what could be. A child bearing his and Rio's features, the artwork seeing his child's first work, the little currled beside their mother...
"If it's too much to ask, I understa-" "Okay, I'll be your child's father," he agreed cutting her off. "While I don't know if such a child is possible..."
.
.
.
.
"They would certainly be a miraculous gift, for the both of us," he said, placing a hand over hers that rested on the table.
A genuine smile across his face.

Chapter 11: In the Name of (Misguided) Love
Summary:
Krad tries to sort our new strange feelings he's been getting when it comes to Dark's current Tamer, Daisuke Niwa.
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
When Krad first saw Daisuke Niwa, he only thought of her as the next host of his other half. She was but another mere thief that would take the artworks that would serve their purpose when the time came.
He would find her looking at his master from the corner of his eyes, giving him strange looks before either rushing away or hiding behind the Harada sisters who he came to learn from Master Satoshi, were her best friends since childhood. The young commander studied all her mannerisms, her habits, but what the white found ruefully ironic was the joy he saw when Daisuke was alone in the art room, painting.
"Hmph, does she hope to mimic yours and your ancestors' superior talent?" he scoffed, "You could create far better creations."
As if feeling the disdain in his master's eyes that he wanted to convey, he stopped speaking, "I couldn't create anything like she does, if I felt anything, you'd just break it."
Then it happened, Krad wasn't sure what was different about this day but it didn't matter, he could feel her.
Dark's magic was finally awakening in the young Niwa's body, he could only really tell when she and Satoshi were on alone in the classroom. The angel could only chuckle at the girl who'd become a stammering mess, "Can you believe this Master Satoshi? She wrote you a letter of all things," he mocked as the shy tamer took back the letter from where she had dropped it.
After that point the presence of Dark was but a glimmer within Daisuke's body, Krad kept a close eye as he monitored the would be thief's reactions. Seeing her clutch her chest from time to time in discomfort.
Satoshi during the cleaning time of the day had asked his classmates to leave the art room to him when he had heard the Saehara boy ask the Niwa take his place. She had accepted with what seemed to be no complaint, taking a room card and leaving the classroom, "Planning a direct confrontation, Master?" he wondered with a devious smirk.
"No, I'll continue with how I have been proceeding until Dark shows herself, don't even try to come out," the creator warned him.
They made their way to the art room a few minutes after Daisuke, Krad didn't understand his master sometimes, he just wished to be done with Dark as quickly as possible so he could become perfect.
Upon arriving to the room, they found the rose haired girl crying about something. Krad could only scoff at how pathetic she was, "I almost feel sorry for-" he started but stopped when he saw Satoshi giving her his handkerchief.
"Huh?" Daisuke looked up at them in surprise, "Hi-Hiwatari! W-Why are you here?" she stammered. Again another spike occurred in the magic inside her, Dark was going to awaken today.
"I apologize if I startled you Niwa, I have cleaning duty here same as you when I saw you crying," Satoshi explained, Krad staying silent. It didn't take a genius to see the young girl's flustered cheeks, no doubt embarrassed at herself for crying in the open. His master was being far too kind to her as they were natural enemies from birth.
Watching them interact only made the white angel realize that Satoshi would be the reason Daisuke would become Dark, though he chose not to voice this hilarious revelation to his master.
Krad watched each heist from Satoshi's eyes, unable to intervene due to Satoshi holding him at bay with his will. But, that all changed during the third heist, the artwork, "The Fallen Angel's Love Potion..." he said as they waited for Dark to try and make her escape through the young commander's planned trap route. He recalled the artwork, it was a simple piece but it's power didn't remain in his memory as he didn't care.
Though he soon learned what it did as he felt the contents of the glass vial fall on his tamer as well as Dark toppling onto him, forcing Krad in control but not transforming Satoshi into him. "A minor set back," he scoffed mentally for a moment before feeling a pair of soft lips collide with his and time seemed to slowdown, "Mmph?!"
.
.
.
Krad's eyes widened in shock for a time, but as quickly as the kiss came, the thief pulled away. But he didn't see Dark Mousy's face... he say Daisuke Niwa instead.
Her camellia red eyes wide with tears, with what he assumed was embarrassment shimmering in the moonlight. Her clothes slightly too big for her as she sat on his stomach, her wrists adorned in the gleaming handcuffs his master placed on her. Her small delicate hands covering her lips with Daisuke's palms facing him.
Rose red hair spilling down her shoulders which matched her blush covered cheeks. Finally, Dark's black wings unfurled from her back as the feathers fluttered around them like snow as the full moon framed Daisuke's head, like a halo.
The white wing didn't understand why but he felt a burning in his chest, but before he could question her, Daisuke's Visage faded and Dark's returned as she made her escape into the night.
Upon returning home, they found Satoshi couldn't return to control of his body due to the potion. "Damn... I have school tomorrow, I can't go like this," his tamer growled in frustration. Krad proceeded to change into pajamas, a mirror briefly catching the scars from his own wings emerging from his master's back being reflected till they were once again covered.
"Master, I'm perfectly capable of going in your place," he said indifferently. "I don't trust you around Niwa, for all I know you could make a scene and force Dark out," the tamer denied.
"Hmph, unfortunately for you, this time you have no say master," Krad smirked before going to bed.
Krad looked up at the Azumano Junior high school before stepping onto the grounds, the humans all around him prattling on about Dark once again having a 'successful' heist, "Such utter garbage..." he thought to himself. "Hey Satoshi!" a boy called out, now walking beside him, "You won't believe the awesome pictures I got of Dark while she flew away!" he said.
"Ah... this is Master Satoshi's classmate.. the chief of police's son.." "I'm not interested, I was there," Krad replied, making the boy scratch his head.
"Oh right, you're head of Dark Countermeasures, of course you're point blank on the action."
"Don't concern yourself, she'll be within captivity before long," he smirked and the artwork walked ahead toward the entrance of the school when his heart seemed to still at a meek voice's stutter.
"A-Ah! Risa! Careful," Daisuke stuttered as the white wing watched her almost trip over her own two feet as she and the Harada twins past by the temporary bluenette who immediately became enraptured of the Niwa's striking red hair. Snapping himself back to reality, Krad smirked "Ah, there you are... Dark..." he whispered, he walked into the school building, golden eyes gleaming as the malicious angel devised a plan.
The angel had decided to observe her, to see if the tamer's timidity was truly who she was or if was an act to keep her from being a suspect to Dark's thefts. And so, Krad did observe Daisuke Niwa, certain that she'd slip into a snarky comment or something similar like her ancestors had.
But he didn't.
In first period, he half paid attention to the instructor and the rest of it was on Daisuke. He kept his eyes on her and saw the Niwa look back at him, he smirked slightly at her and she quickly turned away and he saw her ears turn a shade of pink. He chuckled and turned his attention to the board do to his master's nagging about needing the notes even if they already passed this class before.
The angel continued watching, in PE, in the next period after that and the one after that and so on, until lunch period came around. Needless to say his observations didn't yield the results he'd been hoping for. She hid her thief skills quite well except when she was in her own little world but quickly covered it up, she was meek and had trouble voicing her opinions to others, especially Takashi who was rather boisterous.
Krad could only sigh in disappointment as he opened the door to the rooftop with bread in hand, "That Niwa truly wouldn't be a threat if Dark wasn't a part of her," he said to his master.
"I said she wasn't," Satoshi replied, "Niwa is timid and flusters easily," he said which made Krad think. "She flusters easy you say?"
Before they could continue, the white wing pair heard the roof door open and turned to find Daisuke there holding bundled bento in her hands.
"Hiwatari?" she gasped, Krad smirked and turned to face her completely, "Hello Daisuke," he greeted, "What brings you up here?" The girl sputtered about coming to eat lunch as well. Sitting on a bench on the roof together, Krad opened the bread's packaging and was about to take a bite when he heard Daisuke's soft voice speak up. "Um, Hiwatari, is that all your having?" Daisuke asked him, looking up in concern. Raising a brow at the question, he lifted it up, "Yes, it's sufficient until I get home," he said.
"Hiwatari, here," she said lifting up her now opened bento to him, "I-I have more than enough food," her face competing with her hair. Puzzled at the offer the angel asked, "Why would you do that?"
The girl looked up at him as the devilish angel didn't realize his own cheeks get a dust of pink to them, barely notable. She'd hesitantly put the box back on her lap on the rabbit print cloth, "I-I saw you only had stale bread..." Daisuke whispered.
"Does she pity us?" he thought slightly irritated, "My diet shouldn't be your concern, Niwa," he said coldly. What she said next genuinely surprised, "But I care about you, of course I'd be concerned," Daisuke voiced with sincerity, "So please promise to bring a proper lunch, okay?" she asked with a soft smile.
Krad didn't know what came over him as he got closer to her, his gold eyes staring deep into her ruby ones, "So you care about me do you? Why is that?" he asked, getting closer and caging her in. He didn't know why but seeing her face turn red because of his actions made him proud, Daisuke brought her hand to her chest, "Satoshi?" she whispered.
The angel smirked as he could feel Dark beginning to come out, no doubt to protect her tamer, "Stop it!" a voice shouted in his head. Krad looked at his left hand that was now being cramped up by the true Satoshi inside him, "Daisuke, I don't think she knows anything about us," he told him. His golden eyes widened as he finally pulled away from her, seeing a bit of strain on the Niwa's face... Like she was trying to keep his other half from coming out.
"I apologize, Niwa," he muttered, seemingly in disbelief as he stood up and walked to the door, "Have a good day."
In the stairwell, he could feel the incomplete transformation, "Could she truly be ignorant to the feud of your clans, to your curses?"
.
.
.
.
That night, Satoshi held his chest in pain as he was finally back in control of his own body, "Finally...." he wheezed, putting a hand on his desk to steady himself. Glaring out the window at the blonde, long haired man with white wings on his back.
"I've already told... I will never need you."
Krad didn't answer, from what he experienced during the heist and what he'd instigated today, he was quite interested in Daisuke Niwa now.

Chapter Text
It had been a few days after Kosuke had found out his peer and crush, Emiko Niwa, was the legendary Phantom Thief Dark...
.
.
.
.
Well, that's not exactly how she explained it to him, it was more that she and Dark were one in the same but also two people sharing one body. He didn't quite believe it until he saw Emiko transform right in front of him the night he found out.
Emiko had gasped and grasped at her coat like she was having trouble breathing. Concerned he'd put his hands on her shoulders to try and steady her, only for her appearance to change. Her long maroon red hair spiking up and turning a deep violet hue, her eyes becoming sharper and going from garnets to amethysts.
Kosuke stepped back to give the young woman room and saw that she had changed into an entirely different person, "Heh, so now your love gene is in full force Emiko, I guess he really is your Saint of Tears," the woman seemed to tease to herself with a smirk on her lips. The woman turned to Kosuke, her hands on her hips with a confident smile, "So how about I actually introduce myself?" she asked, "I'm the Legendary Phantom Thief, Dark Mousey, the woman you know as Emiko Niwa is my Tamer."
"Tamer?" he asked a bit confused, Dark got a thinking look for a moment before explaining.
"Well to put it as simply as possible, she and I are one in the same, she is Dark in the same sense that I'm Emiko," she started, "Like getting two girls for the price of one!"
"I think I understand," the photographer nodded, "Then can you switch back to Emiko then?" Kosuke asked, worried if Emiko was stuck as Dark. "Don't worry, she'll swap back once we're out of the open," the purple haired woman assured him. Sighing in relief, Kosuke was startled when Dark kissed his cheek, making him shoot away with a red blush all over his face.
"W-Why did you kiss my cheek?" he stammered in confusion and the dark angel giggled, "To see if you'll be easy to steal," she winked at him.
.
.
.
.
Kosuke sighed as he got his stuff together after his lecture, "So now Dark wants to steal me?" he thought to himself, unsure of what she meant. He thought back to the Saint of Tears comment from that same night and recalled that it was a piece back in the Azumano Art Museum, a bust specifically if he was remembering right, and Dark was an art thief.....
.
.
.
Then it dawned him, like being struck with lightening.
"DID SHE MEAN SHE WANTS TO STEAL ME FROM EMIKO?!"
Notes:
Kosuke is a pure boi just like his future child.

Chapter Text
Hey everyone,
Sora here, I had an idea, after the next update I have planned for White Winged One-shots, I was thinking of taking requests.
Keep in mind, that they'll probably take awhile due to my own school schedule and life, on top of how infrequently I update any of my actual long term stories.
So if you do think this request idea is a good one and you had an idea you wanna see within this universe's context, leave it in the comments!
You all have a good morning/afternoon/evening!

Chapter Text
“The Niwa Family…
A family of thieves and nothing more…
That was the case for 300 years, and yet this time, somehow it was different.”
Through his tamer’s eyes, Krad observed the next heiress to the Niwa and Dark’s accursed legacy, Daisuke Niwa.
He’d known her for some time, since his master, Satoshi Hikari, though his last name was changed, decided to attend middle school once again in an effort to at least feel like a “normal kid” as he’d put it. To his master’s dismay, it became about watching the next Niwa tamer to see when Dark manifested.
Dark’s debut in this generation was as grand as always though within his master, Krad could tell, those ruby red irises in her eyes. Those were the eyes of Daisuke Niwa and they held shock, disbelief, and fear in them as she was held down and cuffed by Satoshi. The White wing couldn’t deny those eyes were beautiful with those emotions swirling in them. “She almost seems guilty for her transgression,” he thought to himself with a smirk.
But that faux innocence he decided it was was short lived as with a flash of light, Dark had really and truly awakened, the rose red in her eyes blinking away to now be a deep crocus purple. His other half was here and she had the audacity to steal his master’s first kiss!
Though, he himself was not far behind…
.
.
.
.
.
Krad, trapped in the visage of his master, Dark had fallen on top of him. Her lips on his as he opened his golden eyes to glare at her for the gall she had, but found no disgust or Dark for that matter… In her place was her tamer.
For some reason he couldn’t understand. At this moment, Daisuke’s cheeks were deep pink, eyes wet with tears of embarrassment, trying to use the backs of her hands and her black wings to cover her face, she was beautiful.
“Beautiful…?” the angel asked himself in bewilderment as Dark’s image returned and she flew away with artwork.
.
.
.
.
Learning that she was truly ignorant of his existence within her dear Satoshi, Krad couldn’t help but chuckle. This was a first, an unwilling thief in the family of thieves. He observed her, watching her paint, yet another odd thing she was the only in her family to do. Daisuke, with each stroke, put in and looked at each piece she made with love. She gazed at his master with those same enamored eyes, unconditional and pure, and Krad wanted it.
“I want it…?” he asked himself, was he really coveting what Master Satoshi had, as one-sided as the girl’s love was.
But would his tamer even know what to do with that love? Truthfully, Krad didn’t know what to do with it either, but his mind was racing.
What would he do if Daisuke loved him instead of the Hikari heir? Would she give him those same looks? Those gentle smiles? Feel her lips on his whenever he wished?
The more he thought about it, the more tempting, the more Krad wanted that love, the more he wanted the thief’s gaze only on him! If he had more power he would break every artwork that caught her attention, kill anyone who thought they were worthy of Daisuke’s attention, and the more he wanted to take Dark and Satoshi out of the equation.
.
.
.
.
Dark was nothing but a parasite that clung to Daisuke’s bloodline, and his Master Satoshi’s body would be his in time but that time couldn’t come soon enough in his opinion.
Seeing Daisuke injured after she and the older Harada sister, using Dark to save herself and her friend, but he was seething that his love let herself be hurt for such a meaningless being!
On Saint White Day, Krad pushed through and took control of his master’s form again, still looking like him but that wouldn’t last long however. Daisuke was a white lolita dress with her long red hair in braids tied back by pastel pink ribbons. He overheard some girls say that tying a white ribbon for the one who gifted you something on Valentine’s day meant that your love would endure.
Krad found Daisuke who was defending the older Harada from a low life, the insect had the audacity to try and lay hands on her! He easily twisted the boy’s wrist, “Who do you think you are?” he asked, his golden eyes piercing into the young man’s soul and venom dripped from every word. The boy fled, Daisuke, while shaken, was more concerned with Riku. As he had no ribbon, Krad undid the tie around his neck and tied it into a bow around her neck, like someone would do to a kitten. She looked up at him, eyes shining and her cheeks dusted pink, “Don’t let another man touch you so casually next time.”
.
.
.
.
.
The night at the lighthouse, when Dark was separated from Daisuke and she lay unconscious at his master’s feet, it was the first time Krad could finally see her in her purest form. Satoshi knelt down, lifting Niwa's head to lay it on his lap, “Daisuke… I’m sorry,” he apologized.
“Sa…” she muttered, “Sa…to…”
“Satoshi….” Daisuke spoke in her sleep, and that was all it took for the festering hatred in Krad to rip his way out. To force Satoshi to transform into him. His master screamed in pain as his feelings for Daisuke, while not fully understood, also called forth the evil angel inside him. Satoshi backed away from Daisuke, clutching his chest as Krad emerged, making his sky blue hair grow and change to a sunlight yellow, his pure white wings furling from his back.
“Finally~” Krad sighed in bliss as he felt the cool night air on his skin, blowing through his hair, seeing the bright light of the moon. He looked down at the girl on the ground, soon she’d wake and they could finally meet properly, his angel….

Chapter 15: Golden Streaks
Summary:
A look into the future of Daisuke and Satoshi Niwa, 10 years after the events of the Black Wings being sealed.
Chapter Text
Satoshi looked in the bathroom mirror as his wife, Daisuke Niwa, slept in their bed just outside in the master bedroom. Threading his fingers through his now shoulder length hair, the strands having started to grow in gold.
Opening the door to go back to the room, the light of the bathroom stirred her awake.
“Nmm… Satoshi..?” she mumbled, rubbing her eyes before looking at the nightstand clock which read as 3 a.m. “It’s so early, is everything okay?”
He looked away, but sat on the bed so she could examine him, “It’s changing color again…” he mumbled. Daisuke sat up fully and turned on the lamp, she gave him a soft smile and held his face.
“It’s okay, go wash your hair, I’ll get the scissors,” she assured him, getting out of the bed.
Soon, she was combing his hair, sectioning off the golden strands with her fingers and slowly cutting them off in their kitchen. Satoshi seated in a chair with a throw blanket around his chest tied in the back, while Daisuke trimmed the golden streaks.
“It’s been almost 10 years… but that bastard still has his claws in me…” the bluenette said, holding back his anger and a bit of shame as he remembered Krad, the evil curse that his family had been stuck with until he and Daisuke finally sealed the Black Wings all those years ago.
“Satoshi…” Daisuke muttered with concern, stopping for a moment to kiss the back of his head in reassurance, “This is only a side effect, you don’t have Krad inside you, not anymore,” she said, the sound of scissors closing on hair continuing until it stopped.
“You’re still you, the you I fell for all those years ago,” she assured him with a smile as the rosette began sweeping away the amber strands into a pile on the floor into a dust pan.
Since the sealing of the Black Wings, Satoshi and Daisuke had been together since their days through middle school and beyond, marrying after 7 years and now 3 years into married life. But the constant reminder of the bond he had with Krad would rear its ugly head when his sky blue hair reached a certain length, beginning to change into an all too familiar blonde that startled them both when it first happened.
His new family was quick to check him for signs of the angel returning through a ritual but it came back with no trace of the white wing’s reemergence inside their son and grandson-in-law.
Satoshi felt his freshly cut hair and looked at his reflection in a hand mirror Daisuke grabbed, looking at her through the glass.
She'd matured in the past 10 years, her hair reached past her back and so Daisuke normally tied it back when she worked or slept in a somewhat tidy braid. Her short sleeved nightgown being pink with white snowflakes dotting it in different sizes and patterns, and her wedding ring snuggle and safe on her left hand.
Satoshi had changed too, his features sharpened a bit like his father's and others said he looked more intimidating then when he was young. His shoulders had broadened and his own pajamas were just a white shirt and blue pajama pants.
His hair reached his shoulders but when it began to reach his shoulder blades, Krad's connection would make itself known. But Daisuke didn't recoil from him when it began, she'd gently hold him and sever those strings for him, as many times as she needed for Satoshi to feel like himself and safe.
He stood up and pulled her into a hug after she disposed of the hair, “Satoshi?” she said, a bit startled as he buried his head in Daisuke's shoulder.
“I don't know how I earned your love, your patience, Daisuke…” he muttered, she hugged him back, still with her ever soft smile.
“I just… wanted to see you smile and now I get to see that smile, every day I wake up,” she replied to her husband.
“I love you Satoshi,” Daisuke said, her head on his chest.
“I love you too, Daisuke,” ‘Satoshi’ replied, holding her tight as the mirror on the table showed his eyes were gold as the two leaned in for a kiss.
