“I’m not clean,” skull felt like his chest was caving in.

“Don’t say that, skull, you’re fine just the way you are,” bulk assured.

“No I’m not! Maybe it was right!”

“The monster is messing with you, it will do anything in its power to get what it wants from its victims right now since it had to run from the rangers,” billy explained.

“So? I went to catholic school as a kid and they always said-“

“Your mom stopped sending you there exactly because of stuff like that being taught!” Billy cut in.

“I just, I don’t know what to do anymore I’m just so miserable… like I want to just fade away,” skull grew transparent at these words.

“Skull don’t!” Bulk yelled “me and billy! Me and Billy are right here and you’re going to be okay and you’re going to stay right here, you hear me you’re not fading away anywhere! Got that!”

Skull grew more opaque but Billy could still the back of the chair through the skull's chest. This monster made people so miserable and afraid of themselves that they would literally physically fade out of existence and skull had gotten a direct hit.

Billy heard his communicator beep. The monster was back. He was going to fix this, he only hoped it was in time.

“Go be gay for that poor dead intern!”

In any other context Trent would have been laughing his ass off from hearing Cassidy say that to him and Devin but honestly “being gay” for the ghost of an intern that supposedly haunts a wear house his father recently acquired so that it would come out and attack them is ridiculous. But considering Ethan once got a wizard to steal Dr.O’s mouth anything is possible.

The ghost was apparently some gay intern who got murdered by his date in the 80s when they snuck in to be together in secret and Cassidy was trying to do a story of the history behind the legend and history of the Crawfordton rainbow strangler. Trent honestly wished Cassidy made that up, but that was actually what it was called.

It was pride month so she was trying to do something that wasn’t getting a lot of coverage like the fact that a bunch of gay people have gone missing around the Where house over the years and the rumors it inspired.

Devin and Trent were both cracking up as they awkwardly exchanged forehead kisses and looked to Cassidy for approval. 

“You guys really are clueless, aren’t you?” 

“What do you mean clueless?”

“You should kiss on the lips! I kiss my grandparents on the forehead!”

“Cassidy…” Trent began.

“But I’ve never kissed anyone before!”

“Oh well, then, hmm… you know what? I have an idea!” Trent could see the gears turning in her head and could make an educated guess as to why Cassidy was about to do and took a step back to give them some space.

“What is-“ Cassidy was kissing Devin. And as far as wing men went Trent feels like he was doing a pretty good job after all it was basically the only reason he agreed to this, he owed Devin a favor and now the debt was paid and he could see how the other were doing with the homophobic serial killer they caught this morning after mistaking him for one of Mesogog’s freaks when he grabbed a guy.

“This isn’t your memory,”

“It feels like it is,”

“No, yeah I get that and it’s made from real memories but these events never happened to you Ms.Tanner, you weren’t home last night you were at the plaza with the other member of your uh… Gang I guess? Can you be in a gang without knowing you’re in a gang or since gangs are organized crime and you can’t really organize things you can’t remembr-“

Z stood in the corner as she watched him try to figure out how they could have gotten both a yes and no from the judgment scanners,“Bridge! the point!”

“She committed the crime, but she didn’t do it willingly or knowingly so she’s both underdress and under false pretenses, if anything she and the rest of the bank robbers are just more victims, since they don’t have the money and they don’t get anything I could see in her memories to gain from what’s happening,”

“She really didn’t know,”

“Z, she has watched the office so many times her mind can spit out entire episodes verbatim with minimal prompting, and I had to watch like five hours of it in her mind in the pst five minutes, and while that’s super impressive that you can do that, I never want to be in your mind again,”

“So mind washed bank robbers that are all just really boring people while they live their normal lives?”

“I’m not boring!”

“What’s your favorite Christmas song?”

“All I want for Christmas is you by Mariah Carrie” 

“I was asking her,”

“No he’s right,”

“How do you know that you were just looking at last nights memories With a few weeks of background? thanksgiving was last week.”

“She likes to play it on loop while watching the office,”

“Does she actually or is that the fake memories?”

“No I actually do like that song enough that it plays on loop in my house 24/7 the minute Halloween ends,”

Z looked at this woman for a very long time before deciding on what to say. “You’re like the anti-Bridge,”

“Thank you?”

“Do you like buttery toast?” He wiggled his fingers.

“No, that’s like the worst of all breakfast foods,” bridge put his hand over his heart like he had been personally attacked.

“The anti-Bridge!”

“I want a family, I want to be safe”

Of all the things the rest of the team expected from Dillon, this wasn’t it.

The team was sitting around in a circle as they all shared their thoughts on the word they now live in and what they wanted once they won, because they would win, they have no other choice.

Summer put her hand on his shoulder,” I want to be safe too, I know parents are set in their ways and everything but I wish one day I had the time to sit with them and make them understand I’m different now,”

“I want my dad to be proud of me and to trust I know what I’m doing,”

“Same here, my father never did believe much in heroes when I was growing up,”

“I saw your file once, you were a firefighter, a cop and a bunch of other stuff before,”

“You were a firefighter?” The twins asked excitedly.

“Aye,”

“Did you have a red truck?” Gem started

“And a fire hose?” Gemma continued.

“And a firehouse dog?” They finished together.

“Aye, aye, aye, and no,”

“Why not?” Summer asked.

“It was a small fire house, it would have been cruel to the little fella,”

“Ziggy what do you want?”

“Be safe obviously, Get married, maybe have kids probably adopt, not be scared all the time, and you know be super fucking famous for saving the world,”

Summer threw a pillow at ziggy for the last part. Most of them hated their celebrity status, so adding the fact that they would save the world wasn’t exactly going to help.

“Think about it, we’ll be in history books for like ever, our great great grandchildren will know who we are!”

“I want my memory to die with the people who knew me,” Summer said.

“I’ll drink to that,” Flynn agreed as their beer cans clanked together and they both took a sip.

“What about you two?” Ziggy prompted the twins.

“Go Outside!” Gem cheered.

“Feel Sunlight!” Gemma continued

“See Real rainbows!” Gem added.

“Plant some flowers!” Gemma kept going.

“Have a tea party with k!” They said together

“Also I want to get married to see what it’s like,” Gemma added.

The team exchanged smiles as they planned for a brighter future, after all it was that or not future at all.

“My mom was my hero”

This rang true for Ethan in two regards, one from his biological mother and one for Hayley.

Anna James had died when Ethan was seven leaving him alone with his father. She had been a developer for a robotic surgery device and had come to the hospital to test one of the prototypes the day a man came into the ER with a gun. She didn’t die immediately, it was an ER after all but the surgery wounds became infected and it was a nasty thing, they had to reoperate on but the surgery didn’t get everything the second time, and it spread over and over they tired, it was a slow and meandering death but it still hurt when the time came. She was always encouraging him and his love of technology, in a way his father, a divorce lawyer, simply was not equipped for. 

He remembered the last real conversation he had with her as she explained how the heart monitor worked and the physics of the MRIs they had taken. He remembered how she explained she would have been gone a long time ago if not for all the machines, that technology of their time couldn’t save her but it gave them the time to say goodbye.

His father was caring and well meaning but ultimately did not understand his son’s interests. They shared a rye sense of humor and they had a few prank wars that one of his uncles had to break up because a grown man verses a middle schooler wasn’t exactly fair because middle schooler can think of way more fucked up pranks than most adults can.

It was as happy as a childhood without his mother as his could manage, he tried and Ethan loved him for that.

The second way this ranger true was through the mother figure he had found in in Hayley. She ahead been his hero, she was cool, techie, And anti establishment which is awesome for new technology development. 

She was his hero. Hayley was far from the person they thought she was. 

Hayley was first and foremost a scientist, and what more did a scientist want than to learn about unexplainable phenomena? And what was more unexplained than the rangers? They show up one day, the same day that the first attacks on the earth begin and have been around since.

She figured out the original team easily, they weren’t subtle and it was easy to pretend to be their friend and then picking out Tommy as the strongest of the bunch maybe not the best fighter but the most suborn, easily. He was so easy to isolate, or at least that’s what her notes read. That she slowly but surely sowed the seeds for infighting and arguments in the team, and had to act fast to stop something called “project hexagon” that would have brought all the teams together under one banner. 

Hayley made sure Tommy would get a job in a high school so that his rangers were teens, because the most important part of an experiment is repeatability. Something Hayley had said once while helping with some homework.

She knew Anton Mercer was Mesogog, she knew Elsa, the real Elsa, one of Rocky Desantos’ friends who got a little too wise to what she was doing so she mind washed her into being Mesogog’s perfect little minion. 

She didn’t even really care much about him or Kira; the main subjects were Trent and Connor since Tommy had been both a red and a sixth before as well. 

Ethan’s mom was his hero, she really had been but this woman was a stranger and an enemy now.

“We might as well blow coke and jump on the bed!” Theo yelled in exasperation at how no one else seemed to be taking running the shop seriously while RJ was gone for the day.

“I know a guy who can hook you up if you want,” Dom said.

“What.” Lily needed a minute for that.

“What?” Dom didn’t see why everyone was looking at him oddly.

Fran was the first to break the silence, “What do you mean you know a guy?!?” 

“Fran, you’ve met him, remember my friend Jeff?”

“Jeff the cocaine  dealer?” Casey asked with morbid curiosity.

“No! Jeff the guy who can dehydrate coke! Like the drink!” Somehow they didn’t know if that was weirder or not but they sold banana pizza so who were they to judge?

“Why would we blow dehydrated cola?” Theo asked, wrinkling his nose at the thought.

“It’s not that bad actually,”

Casey put his hand on Dom’s shoulder “Dom,” 

“Yeah” 

“what the fuck,” 

“It’s fine, you guys, its good as crystals to chew on too,”

“Dom, are you sure Jeff doesn’t just dye the drugs different colors?” Theo now had to make sure they didn’t need an intervention.

“No Fran was there, I was fine when I was with Jeff and we had tons of coke,”

They looked at Fran, “Yeah Dom got roofied when we were in Belgium so I know he’s a lot different high than when he’s with Jeff,” Fran didn’t like the guy but she could see what Dom saw in Jeff ‘the coke guy’ as she was now calling him in her head.

“Why would someone want to roofie Dom?” Theo was now resigned that they were opening late so he might as well get the full story.

“Because we ordered a whisky dry and a strawberry daiquiri and the asshole through Dom could actually stomach Whiskey when he put the drinks on the table.” Casey let out a whistle at that.

“Also there was the one time Fran got kidnapped when we were in Moscow and I got a call offering me money to come and get her away from them,” they looked at Fran and Dom wondering how that story could go.

“What did you do?” Lily asked.

“I think, rangers, the better question is what didn’t I do,” everyone took a step back from Fran.

“Yeah at least 4 guys were dead by the time I got there and one was crying.”

“So I take it you’ve shown her a few moves while traveling,” Theo said patting him on the back. “You might be a master one day after all,”

“Fran is better at this than I am!”

“Believe me Dom if I could replace you with Fran I would,”

“Really Theo,” Lily was unimpressed by her boyfriend.

“Nah, who do you think we’d have to give all the annoying tables to then?”

“I’ll interrogate the cat,” K resigned to the rest of the group as they all cheered.

They say around a table playing Dungeons and Dragons with Ziggy as the DM. K had taken one of the premade characters Ziggy had rather than waste her time making her own with the others so now she was the only Druid in the group and they wanted her to question a stray cat they found. Which meant she had to, she didn’t even want to say the words but role playing was now her only option so she might as well do it as quick and painlessly as possible.

“So Mr…” she stopped to think of a name for a moment “Schroeder, I understand you saw my friend Flymm,” 

“Wiggles Wiggins!”

“I’m not calling you that. Anyway, mr. Schroeder you saw my friend burn down town hall over there but somehow the man we were after managed to get away, did you see where mayor Bones is?”

“Roll for persuasion,”

“1, no modifiers.”

“The cat scratches you and you take 2 damage as it runs off,” 

“This wasn’t even a fight!”

“I’m the DM and the expert right now, K”

“You’re not the expert of anything!”

“Say that to my shadow puppets and membership card to the Corenth city leather dungeon convention that I got invited to last week!”

Dillon put his hand on Ziggy's shoulder as he considered how to break it to his friend.

“Ziggy that’s a sex thing,” summer so eloquently put it.

“Is that why you were so annoying about this game ranger operator green? You thought you were going to a convention?”

“Well, yeah I didn’t want to be rusty or anything,”

Scott was staring a hole in the ceiling as he considered how to ask his own question.

“Why would anyone want to have a sex convention?” Gem asked. Gemma nodded agreeing with her brother.

“Sweet summer children,” Flynn said, wondering if now was the right moment for that conversation.

“Ziggy, do not go to the convention,” Dillon finally said.

“Can we get back to the game guys?” Summer looked forlornly at her new set of glitter dice she had barely gotten to use yet.

“Yeah, sorry,” Ziggy said.”K if you want to continue your turn.

“I want to roll to shoot the cat,” k said.

“I will hunt you down and kill you,”

Drakkon’s soldiers just chuckled as they left Delphine for dead.

The waterfalls destroyed along the majority of the planet, scorched with little to no water left on the surface anymore. She had led them away from her team. Billy had managed to gather as many civilians as he could for them to evacuate and then went to see if he could find more telling them if he wasn’t back soon to leave him.

Drakkon’s men had found their base and were close to realizing they had a ship ready for launch before she charged them and led them away. She told them she wasn’t going with them, she had made her piece with this like Billy had hours before.

 She could only go so far before one of them managed a lucky shot, she fell to the ground, but she had put enough distance that by the time they turned around to see the ship taking off it was already too late. They were angry and shot her a few more times as she tried to keep their attention off the ship in case they had any tricks up their sleeves. She was on the ground a blaster shot from death but one of the soldiers had the ever so cruel idea just to leave her to dry out and his friends agreed. She was going to die with her planet, an honorable way to go.

She could feel it in the dry air, her life was slipping away from her. She thinks she sees someone in the dust but it must be just her mind playing tricks on her as she goes. She blacks out for a moment before hearing. “You’re not dead yet,” Billy let out a breath as he patted her face with a damp cloth. She opened her eyes to see him and he was right.

No she wasn’t dead and she had a promise to Drakkon’s soldiers to keep.

“I’m busy you son of a bitch this better be important!” Both Zack and Matt jumped back at hearing Violet’s sudden outburst. Zack almost fell backwards into the grass off the picnic blanket.

“But I just wanted to talk about-“

“OUR PROJECT! I KNOW!” Zack almost wishes he could pity Matt at this point but he really didn’t. They were having a nice date before he decided to butt in.

“YOU ARE THE MOST USELESS PARTNER I HAVE EVER HAD FOR AN ASSIGNMENT! YOU ARE NOT EVEN JUST WAITING FOR THE LAST MINUTE TO DO ANYTHING, YOU ARE AN ACTIVE DETRIMENT TO ME GETTING ANYTHING DONE ON THE PROJECT OR ANYTHING ELSE FOR THAT MATTER!”

“No, I’m not!”

“Then why are you interrupting our date?” Zack asked.

“I’m not here for her, I'm here for you!”

“Why me?”

“You know why.”

Zack hung his head. “Can it wait?”

“Tommy sent me to get you, Kim to get Trini and Billy to grab Jason,”

“So I take it as a no,”

“Nope,”

“What’s going on?”

“It’s a peace conference thing, look I’m really sorry and I wish this night could have gone better but…”

“No it’s okay, I ended up having to stand you up twice already because of him” she glared daggers.

“Hey!”

“It’s only fair at this point,”

“I am really sorry though,”

“Accidents don’t happen accidentally!” Everyone looked at Cam with large smiles. “That’s not what I meant and you all know it,”

“Enlighten us Cam, how do accidents happen then,” Blake proded. 

“I meant that these kinds of things aren’t random accidents that it had to be intentional so it’s not an actual accident,”

“So they accidentally made it not an accident,” Dustin continued.

“No. No, I’m not playing this game with all of you right now, there is a spy at this school and we can’t be standing around competing to be the dumbest ranger on this team,”

“Which would go to the person who thinks accidents don’t happen accidentally,” Shane said as the others giggled.

“Come on, guys give Cam a break,”

“Thank you Tori, at least one of you has a decent head on your shoulders,”

“Unlike you, who doesn’t understand the definition of an accident,” Tori roasted him mercilessly. Everyone cracked and began laughing at that.

“You know what fine! If you guys are fine to just let some random spy run around this school, and cause who knows what kind of problems that’s on you. I, on the other hand, am actually going to get to the bottom of this and make sure the students are safe,”

“Dude you know who’s the only person besides us and sensei that could have gotten in here to get that stuff right?”

“Hunter?”

“No, well yes, but besides him,”

“Yeah,”

“Arg! Cyber Cam!” He went stomping after his robotic twin to ask what exactly possessed him to do what he had done.

Shane put his hands on his hips, “I feel a bit sorry for Cyber Cam,”

“I don’t,” Blake said.

“I agree with Blake,” Dustin announced.”Motor cross dudes have to stick together.

“Well i side with Shane,”

“We should call Hunter to be the deciding vote,”

“Fine but you know he’s going to pick us Because I’m his brother,”

Blake’s eyes went wide “What!”

“What? I thought he told you!” Shane defended as Blake made a move to punch him.

“Why do these people assume we're gay?”

“Bulky, I haven’t got the foggiest idea,” skull said as he bounced Spike in his arms.

Skull had had something come up at work and asked Bulk to take Spike to his baby yoga today, but had still made it back in time to pick them both up. 

One of the moms waved as she and her twins walked out of the studio. As they noticed a few gathered in a corner whispering to each other giggling as they looked over at them.

“Skull, you got a little,” Bulk pointed to his face where the spot was before just reaching into his pocket for the spare wipes he had brought. “I got it,” he wiped the spot as the women giggled more and kept whispering among each other as they tried to be subtle.

“Thanks,” Skull said as Spike began squirming and fussing in his arms.

“And I think someone has had a lot of excitement today, and needs a nap,” Skull cooed at Spike.

They both looked at the group of women looking at them once more before leaving while shaking their heads.

“I lost my shoe,” Matt said.

“ How? ” Kim asked.

“I’m not sure,”

This was it, Kim was finally going to kill Matt with her bare hands and Adam and the rest of the team were going to get a front row seat, his only regret was that Tommy was in detention right now and wouldn’t be able to see it happen for himself.

Rocky elbowed him, “five bucks says she goes for the eyes,”

“No way, he’d see that coming, she’s going to kick him in the nuts for sure,”

“Both of you are wrong, she’ll punch him in the nose first, Kim’s got a mean right hook,” Aisha chimed in as they watched Kim verbally rip Matt a new one and generally hoped she would follow it up with doing so physically.

“All three of those ways are highly inefficient,” Billy explained, “she’s better off just shooting him with her bow,” the other hummed in agreement. 

“So like just regularly shooting with her bow or should i lend her my sword or something for maxim, fucking up of Matt’s day,” Rocky asked.

“Yeah I’d give her my ax,” Adam agreed.

“And my daggers,”

“If I give her my lance she’d have the whole power cannon,” Billy said.

There was a sudden yelp as Matt went down with his hands over his now most likely broken nose.

“I called it! I knew she was going to punch him in the nose!” The boys each pulled out five bucks to hand to her.

“AND STAY DOWN! MAYBE YOU’LL EVEN FIND YOUR SHOE!”

“We should give Kim some space,” Rocky said suddenly realizing just how angry Kim was.

“Yeah we should,” Aisha agreed as they gave Kim a wide berth to stop past.

“Don’t roofie me and call it romance!” Devin and Cassidy looked at each other and then at a variety of levels of disshelvment they were responsible for in Cassidy’s cousin Spike and his friends.

“Spike, that’s a cinnamon stick” Devin said, taking the drink back.

“It’s still not romance!” Antonio yelled from where he was locked in an arm wrestling match with Mia

“You need to sit down buddy, me and Cass might have given you guys a bit too much.

“A bit too much was before Emily started reading her My Little Pony fanfiction from middle school out loud to us while Lauren cried over her ‘power with words’”

“I see your point,” Devin cringed a bit.

“Do you?” She brought her face closer to her husbands as she looked directly into his eyes, making him cringe further away.

“Well, I mean at least Kevin fell asleep, and Mike’s just playing on his phone,”

“GIVE IT BACK!” Spike suddenly yelled, making them jump back.

“I’m kind of good, which sucks,” Bulk said, looking at the kazoo in his hands.

“Why does it suck your good at the kazoo?” skull asked.

“It’s not like you and the piano, no one looks at a guy who’s good at the kazoo and thinks ‘wow that guy put a lot of time and effort into that’ there just going to see some guy with a piece of plastic making noises, no respects the kazoo, Skull”

“We should start a band, me on the piano and you on the kazoo!”

“No, you're right she is a pile of ashes in an urn inside of a house we can never go back to, and right now she's gone!” 

Scott looked like he had been slapped. He closed his mouth as he sethed silently, he was done here.

“Scott,” Colonel Truman tried softer now.

Scott only shook his head. “You said what you said, and you’re right, she is gone, but what she believed in isn’t so I’m gonna go home and rest so whenever the next venjix attack bot shows up I’m ready, but this conversation is over dad.”

“I’m headed home, the twins are probably tormenting Ziggy with glitter glue again, Dillon is going to be brooding in a corner while Summer and Flynn watch and K yells. For a long time you and Marcus were my only family, but I have them now too and I don’t have to hear something like that from them.”

“It was a little glowing hot naked lady with nipples and she hit me!” Fran shouted

“I’m- I don’t know what you want me to do about that,” Jarrod said slowly backing up.

“I want you to find her so I can kick her ass!”

“But she hit you?” Jarrod still wasn’t comfortable with whatever was going on about.

“Which is why I have the electric fly swatter now!”

“Flit’s going to love that,” Jarrod said cinically.

“What Flit doesn’t know can’t hurt him,” Fran defended.

“No but the fly swatter might,”

“He’s human now, it’s fine, Jarrod, now help me find the bitch!”

“Is she here? Like in the kitchen? With both of us?”

“Yeah, why else would I be asking you? Casey’s got a weird thing catching mice, something about his tiger spirit, but he’s waiting on that last table so you’re my guy,”

“I don't want to be your guy,”

“Come on, you're a lion! That’s a cat too. You can help me catch a mouse sized lady who glows,” she tried to encourage.

“If she glows, why not just turn off the lights to find her?”

“Jarrod you’re a genius!” Fran hit the light in time for Casey to run directly into a wall, taking a dirty dish directly to the face. They both winced as they turned the light back on to see what happened to their friend.

Camile turned to Dominic as they sat on the stairs together watching the mess unfold.

“How long do you think it’s going to take for them to realize Theo pissed off the fae and that’s why RJ was purple today and Fran’s got this going on?”

“Waaaaay too long,” Dominic said with a shake of his head.

Camile snorted as she got up. A tiny creature in her hand screamed from the sudden movement. 

A tiny glowing naked lady, that she intended to interrogate until she got an answer about what to do about lifting the curse.

“The fish have begun to anticipate me,” Antonio sighed as he sat next to Chad.

“I don’t know what you what me to say to that,” Of all the people at the ranger bbq Chad was unsure why Antonio chose to spend so much time talking to him after the last minute text from Jayden that he and Lauren had a samurai counsel thing to deal with.

“You know things about fish,”

“My wife is a mermaid and I work with dolphins and whales,”

“And Those are adjacent fish,” Antonio continued.

“Okay Antonio, but I’m not try to catch and kill them,”

“So you can’t help me?”

“No, no I can’t maybe ask Cole or something— wait no— I take that back, once again you are going to kill the fish,”

“Fish are delicious,”

“They are also Cole’s friends” Chad really hoped none of the wild force rangers were listening right now.

“So who do I go too?”

Chad leaned closer to Antonio, “Okay but I didn’t tell you to do this if anyone asked okay?”

“Okay! My lips are sealed!”

“Ryan kinda wants a hobby where he can catch and kill things without someone reminding him of the time he almost beheaded carter when they went hunting”

Antonio leaned away from chad at this new information, “I have several questions,” as he side eyed Ryan sitting with the Dino thunder rangers and playing uno.

“I’m not done and your lips were sealed remember?”

Antonio leaned back in to the point where his ear almost touched chad’s lip and chad was the one to lean away, “Oh yeah, go on”

“Take him fishing with you, he will find some way, some how to catch and kill at least 10 fish no questions asked.”

Antonio turned to chad “Why does this feel unsafe?”

“Nothing lasts forever, well I do,”

Tommy couldn’t tell if he was being threatened or not by the alien standing in front of him as they spoke. He had woken up in a strange place with only this other being there. He almost reminded Tommy a bit of Zordon if not for the whole dubious claim to immortality thing, though he couldn’t shake the feeling he had met them before.

“So how exactly do you last forever?”

“I live in all my children Thomas, like I live in you, and your little student, like I live in your zords and your morphers like I live in each of your teammates and every star.”

“You think you’re the power?”

“Whether or not you believe me my son is beside the point. I am here with a choice and i will not release you from this dream until you answer me.”

“I’m not your son, but fine what am I choosing?”

“The fate of one of your students,”

Tommy put his guard up at this, “what have you done to my students?”

“nothing , yet, besides that’s why you’re here to choose.”

“What am I choosing?”

“Who among them will share your fate.”

“That’s not super threatening, care to elaborate?”

“You will not last forever thomas one day someone else will succeed you, pick one and they will serve as many colors and as many teams as you have, and just as you will be free once mesogog is gone they will be released when they have bested the fo of their own fourth color. I do you a great mercy by telling you this and letting you choose Thomas so do not think refusing to choose is wise.”

“So, Connor, Kira, Ethan, and Trent are my options right?”

“Indeed,”

“Connor,”

“May I ask why?”

Tommy was ashamed at how quickly he picked but he knew he wouldn’t take it back. “Connor is the easiest for me to control, Trent is a wild card who should probably hang up his morpher as soon as possible and just get some therapy after his stint being evil, ethan is probably going to try and do something to hack the power he he has multiple morphers which has a long history of biting people who try that, kira could also work but she isn’t as ready to obey what i tell her without question.”

“You aim to control your heir,”

“They’re sharing my fate right? So I know what moves they should make and I can make Connor make them,”

“Be careful Thomas,” it chuckled.

“The boy with the demon blood” what a joke . Hunter thought to himself. He knew the rumors that outsiders had about him, but being part demon, really? 

Hunter knew what a ranger only raised by demons looked like and it wasn’t him. Unlike demons there was never a hard and fast line of loyalty that Hunter had seen in Ryan, with him and Blake the rules were always theirs to make and break. 

In space with so many groups of people always on the move who was to say what was truly honorable among them. 

With demons there was a code or so Ryan claimed, so did that make Hunter worse than a demon? At this point who was to say.

But he was a ranger, and Hunter knew what loyalty meant there, and he knew the cost of betrayal as well. Hunter didn’t have any demon blood, he had no code of his own, but he knew where he stood and for now that would be enough.

Anton had to admit he was surprised Trent was even talking to him after everything that had happened. 

“Trent I—”

“Which is why I’m telling you I’m leaving,”

“You’re moving out?” Aton almost wanted to laugh at how normal that was compared to everything else that had happened recently, with mesogog’s defeat.

“There’s a group of rangers a few planets over that just faced an almost total loss, the only one who survived their battle was their pink who crashed on earth. She's given me the green morpher, and Connor, Kira, and Ethan are back in their own colors. Hailey and Billy have almost finished repairing her ship we’re probably going to take off tomorrow night to try to save what’s left of her planet,”

“So when you say you’re leaving…”

“I mean I’m leaving and I’m not sure if I’m coming back so if I’m not that’s the three things I want you to know,”

Anton looked away from Trent for a moment trying not to let his own emotions bleed through into the moment, Trent deserved as much, “Well I want you to know I’m proud of you, that I love you as well, and that nothing you do could ever change that,”

Trent looked at Anton for a long moment trying to get any read on in the inner workings of his father’s head. “I wish I could believe you when you say that,” 

Anton felt like he had been slapped as Trent turned to head to his room to pack his things.

“He’s our kid,” Lily said as she put another pizza in the oven.

“We’re the same age,” Theo deadpanned, rolling out more dough.

“You know what I mean, he’s a cub, he just needs some help,”

Dom walked in with a tray of dirty dishes, “If Lily’s mom and you’re dad, what does that make me, Fran, and RJ?” He asked as he began loading up the dishwasher.

Lily snickered while Theo looked unimpressed.

“Well obviously, RJ is the grandpa…” Lily began. 

“Does that make me the great uncle?” Dom asked.

“No you’re more like our second more disappointing child,” Theo said, realizing he wasn’t winning this fight and rolling with it.

“Theo! How can You say that to him?” Lily was still laughing through her words.

“Yeah dad, how could you do this to me? I’m gonna tell your dad, Grandpa RJ about this,”

“Why is RJ my dad?”

“Because I said so,”

“Why can’t he be Lily's dad?”

“Would you want RJ as a father in law?”

“Better than as my dad,”

Casey walked in, “you guys have the orders for table 7?”

Theo cut him off in got a bit too close for Casey’s liking “Casey, in the scenario where I married Lily and had you and Dom as our children, would RJ be my dad or Lily’s dad?”

“I feel like I’m missing a few steps,” Casey said, backing away.

“Great Theo, you’ve traumatized our son,” Lily said, handing Casey the order.

“Yeah, I’m gonna tell aunt Fran to stay out of this if it’s all the same for you,” Casey said before dashing back out to deliver the food.

“Fran’s your sister,” Theo said.

“I can live that,” Lily said.

JJ stood butt naked standing in the middle of a drive through lane as he looked around him dazed. “father?”

Tommy looked at the pavement not really sure what he was meant to say.

Kat shook her head as she held out a pair of sweatpants, “JJ, sweetheart, we’re not sure what that criminal you and your partner were hunting gave you, but you need to put on some pants and then we’re going to take you back to the SPD to get tested okay?”

“I’m wearing pants,”

“No, no, you’re not” Tommy said, reluctantly looking his son in the eye.

“Yes I am,”

“Put on the pants your mother is giving you before you’re arrested, son,”

“She not my real mom,”

“What do you mean kat isn’t you real mom?”

“That’s my real mom,” JJ pointed at the large ‘Wendy’s’ sign above them.

Kat was about done with this, “put on the pants,”

‘No,”

“Put them on or I will put them on you, young man"

“I’m calling the police,” JJ said.

“You are the police,” Tommy said.

“I am?”

Suddenly something invisible picked JJ up off his feet and a new voice yelled “Connor, get the pants!”

A red blur ripped the grey pants from Kat's hand and ran up to JJ forcing them on before any of them could blink.

Trent materialized as he put JJ back down.

“So are we gonna call Sky now? ” Trent asked pointly at Dr.Oliver. As JJ attempted to fight Connor who would just use his super speed to avoid any of the sloppy punches thrown at him.

“Yeah, yeah, let’s call and tell the SPD to test him,”

“I WILL NEVER BE POWERLESS AGAIN!”

Dane took a step back from his son’s outburst. 

“Brody I’m sorry I overstepped but…”

“No you’re not! If you were sorry you would leave it alone!” Followed by a door slam.

Dane stood awkwardly in the hallway with his son’s door slammed shut in front of him. 

Levi stood back at the end of the hall as his father turned back to look at him, “I warned you nothing good is gonna come out of trying to make Brody talk about Galvanax before he wants to,”

“I just want to help him,” Dane started walking toward his eldest son who before he could quite get Levi in his grasp step back from his father with his arms crossed.

“I know but you can’t take back the ten years he spent as a slave no one can. The only person who would even understand is Mick since, and I’m really sorry I’m going to have to say it to you like this but, Mick raised Brody and is his parent,”

“Adan…”

“Levi, dad call me Levi,”

“Levi you were both taken from me far too soon I want to know what happened, I want to help,”

“We grew up, dad, without you and I know you would have been there for us if you could but you weren’t,”

“I never wanted this for either of you,”

“I know,” 

Dane once again stepped forward and wrapped his arms around his eldest son hoping to squeeze into him all of the care he had been unable to give him and Brody before. 

Levi didn’t hug back immediately and even then kept his arms loose around his father who was holding on to him like he may vanish. Levi wasn’t a fool though he could tell this hug wasn’t for him, it probably wasn’t even for Brody their father in his own ways had suffered too and he was coping like they all were.

“Nobody gets that angry unless they’re talking about their own family” Javi said as the rest of the rangers considered the events of their meeting with the Dino thunder rangers.

“What?” Zayto asked.

“The way the red ranger was talking about how General McKnight was forcing the light speed rangers away from the other rangers or else the US military was going to take their zords and morphers back, when giving us the whole who’s who on different teams, it seemed really personal and I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone that mad who wasn’t talking about family,” 

Izzy nodded.

“I mean to be fair the white ranger seemed pretty mad while talking about mesogog and how his return might mean he could be teaming up with void knight too,” Amelia said. Considering the similar reactions both rangers had had.

“Yeah but there’s definitely something off with both of them. Doctor Oliver, Kira, and Ethan all took off their suits and showed us their faces and Kira’s really famous so it’s not like the team was afraid of recognition,” Ollie added.

“Yeah and now Javi probably had to take the massive poster of her off his wall now,” Izzy jokes.

They laughed as Javi flushed a bit with embarrassment at the close to life sized post of Kira he had hung on his wall in middle school.

“I know they’re fellow rangers and were willing to share a lot of information with us, but this doesn’t change my initial concern about them, maybe Javi is right and this could be something family related, but there’s something they aren’t saying and this meeting only confirmed it when aiyon asked red and white their identities,”

“I mean the ninja steel team was pretty happy to talk to us but they did also say there’s a reason most teams give Dino thunder a lot of space,” Aiyon said, “ I thought maybe getting to know them better might help but red looked ready to bolt and Kira basically had a death grip on white the whole time

“Yeah if only Mick old us what it was that makes everyone else keep so much distance, at least lightspeed is basically being strong armed by the navy right now so they really couldn’t help even if they wanted to, Dino thunder looks more like whatever is making everybody else nervous is a more internal problem, especially after we told them about Zedd,” Izzy said.

“Yeah the Doc looked like he was going to be sick,” aiyon said.

“Either way for now we’ve all agreed that should a monster attack either city we’ll do what we can to help each other within reason, so I guess all we can do now is wait,” solon said.

“Family don’t end with blood, boy,” those were the words rattling around in Javi’s head as he starred at the two year old before him.

He had never been a brother before and Izzy was so small what if she broke?

He approached her nervously as she played with her blocks. “Hi Izzy, did you know your mommy is gonna marry my daddy?”

“My mommy,” Izzy said getting up to burry her face in her mother’s lap as she folded laundry next to them.

She smiled down at her daughter “Well I’m going to be Javi’s mommy too Izzy, and he’s going to be your big brother and you’re going to be his little sister,”

“My mommy,” Izzy insisted.

“I’m always going to be your mommy, just like Carlos is always going to be Javi’s daddy but Javi’s daddy is going to be your daddy too, okay?”

“No daddy, my mommy,”

Javi felt red in the face and he didn't know what to say.

“Javi, she’s younger than you she’ll understand eventually,”

“But I’m gonna be her brother,”

“Yes, and it won’t always be easy but it’s gonna be okay,”
