Chapter Text
You were stretching on the training field the first time Reiner saw you. It was his first full day in the Survey Corps and he should have been listening to his captain. Instead he watched you from across the field right up until you turned around and looked directly at him. You didn’t look surprised to see him staring at you, it was like you’d sensed him before you saw him. When you smiled at him, he came to his senses, snapping his head around to give Captain Levi his attention.
Or he tried to. The rest of the day while they began learning the Commander’s formations and tactics, his eyes kept finding their way back to you, no matter where you were. The more it happened, the angrier he became. He didn’t understand what it was about you that was causing such a distraction. Was it his instincts trying to tell him you were dangerous? He wasn’t sure but he did know something about you made him nervous so he vowed to stay as far away from you as possible. He couldn’t shake the feeling you would destroy him.
His plan to avoid you worked for a not so impressive 7 hours. He had just gotten his food and turned to look for Bertholdt when he ran into you. Quite literally, unfortunately. He stood frozen with his food dripping down his front.
“I’m so sorry!” You reached behind him for a rag. “I’m great in the air but useless on land.”
Panic was coursing through him at your proximity. This wasn’t the plan. He’d had a plan! You moved to wipe him off with the rag and he flinched, jerking back and away from you. Your eyes widened with concern and what may have been hurt.
“I can do it” he snapped, jerking the rag out of your hand and taking another step back.
“I’m sorry- I just” you started but he cut you off.
“You just don’t watch where you walk.”
The hurt he saw in your eyes flipped over to anger and he relaxed slightly. Anger he knew what to do with.
“Listen, it was an accident and I’ve apologized twice so why don’t you try not being an asshole.”
“Sorry, princess, I don’t know what it’s like up in your tower but here in the real world, we don’t all just jump out of your way when you walk around like you own the place. Maybe remember that and try using your brain and your eyes instead of neither.”
He tossed the rag at you, pushing past while you stood there in shock. He’d made it five steps when something hit the back of his head with a squelching sound and then dropped to the floor. The dining hall which had been filled with chatter quieted immediately. Reiner turned around slowly, feeling something dripping onto his neck. He looked at the bowl on the ground and then up at your empty hands and falsely sweet smile.
“Wow. I thought you would have used your brain and eyes to see that coming.” You quipped.
He took a step towards you, shaking with rage, and you held your head higher, jaw tightened with anger, and smile slipping.
“Cadet.” Levi’s voice dripped with danger. He hadn’t had to raise his voice for it to carry through the silent room. Reiner froze where he was, startled to find everyone’s eyes on him. For a moment he’d forgotten everything but you.
Levi was leaning against the doorframe staring at you. Reiner heard you sigh in annoyance before you turned and followed the captain out the door without so much as another glance in his direction.
Everyone burst into chatter, the moment the door closed behind you.
“What was that?” Bertolt asked, appearing by Reiner’s side.
Reiner shrugged, bending down to clean up the mess you’d made. “I don’t know.”
Bertolt crouched down to help, lowering his voice. “Reiner, you shouldn’t draw that much attention to yourself.”
“I didn’t throw the food at my own head.”
“What did you say to her?”
“Who cares? She’s insignificant and it wasn’t a big deal, everyone’s already moved on.” Reiner waved his hand around the room. No one was paying them any attention, having gone back to chatting or arguing amongst themselves.
Bertolt's frown only deepened but Reiner waved him off. “Look, I’ve got to go wash this out of my hair. It’s nothing to worry about, I promise.”
Later that night he lay awake for hours tossing and turning. Whenever he tried to close his eyes, your burning angry eyes and smug smile were waiting for him, and he couldn’t help but think maybe there was plenty to worry about after all.
Notes:
This is my first non-oneshot and I'm freaking out a little but I finally had to just write the Reiner fic I've been craving.
Chapter 2: Chapter 2
Chapter Text
Ever since that night you and Reiner had done everything in your power to piss the other off. You didn’t know what his problem was with you, but you’d often find him staring at you, his eyes burning and mouth turned firmly downwards. You would think you were nowhere near him and suddenly feel his eyes on you, making you shiver even as his gaze seemed to heat you from within.
What really got under your skin about it all was that it seemed to just be you with this problem. He seemed to be well liked by everyone else in the Survey Corps. Of course the fact that he acted completely differently towards them, taking on what you recognized as a big brother type role to a lot of the squad was a factor.
Whatever his reason for hating you, it was obvious to everyone around you that he did. As for you, you’d just decided to hate him back on principle. If he didn’t like you then, obviously he had bad taste.
However, hating him would be more convenient if Levi didn’t constantly insist on teaming the both of you up. Connie had a theory that the captain was hoping you’d just both get eaten by titans together and save him the trouble of ever having to discipline either of you for fighting again. It wasn’t Connie’s worst theory if you were being honest. Just last week you spent a good portion of your afternoon scrubbing the bathrooms with the world’s smallest brush because you’d thrown a teacup at Reiner’s head. That would have gotten you in trouble as it was, but of course it ended up being Levi’s cup. You were honestly lucky he hadn’t tied you up and fed you to the titans himself.
You sped by Reiner in the air, spinning around a titan, slicing it’s nape and taking it down before moving on to the next one racing for you. You dodged out of the way of its hands, drawing it’s attention, while he went for this one’s nape, sending it to the ground as well. You two were extremely efficient, motivated by the knowledge that the faster a mission was completed, the faster you could go back to base to avoid each other.
You landed on the roof of a building and surveyed the area for more titans, not acknowledging Reiner when he landed beside you.
You could only spot two more in the area, both at a distance, and as you took a few seconds to catch your breath, one of them was taken down by your squadmates. At this distance it was impossible to tell which team it was as everyone just looked like tiny shapes with capes.
“What’s wrong, princess? Getting tired?”
You rolled your eyes and took off towards the last titan without a word or even a glance in Reiner’s direction. He'd poured so much effort in the early days into telling you to stay away from him, but ironically, over time, you’d learned that nothing got under his skin like ignoring him did. You’d always break and snap back at him eventually but the longer you pretended he didn’t exist, the redder he’d be when you finally looked at him.
You sensed him gaining on you and sped up just a little, whipping around corner after corner at a speed you knew he couldn’t quite match. You loved this part of your job. When you were strapped into your ODM gear and could just soar through the air, feeling the wind against your face. Your thoughts felt a million times more light up here than they did on the ground. When you weren’t in danger of being eaten at least.
“You’re wasting too much gas trying to show off!” Reiner calling from behind you brought reality crashing back in and you hated him for it.
“And who would I be showing off for?” You called back, looking back over your shoulder at him. “I don’t see anyone I’d want to impress.”
“Don’t see anyone you could impress, you mean.” He shot back.
“Only because you possess the brain power and critical thinking skills of a duck.”
He scoffed and you waited for the retort you knew would come because Reiner couldn’t stand to let you have the last word. You’d slammed your bedroom door in his face, more nights than you could count when he’d followed you, refusing to let an argument go.
What came out when he opened his mouth, however, was a shout of warning. His eyes had widened in alarm at something past you. Following his line of sight, you turned your head, spotting the titan just in time. Well, almost. You dodged the giant hand reaching for you, swinging your blades on instinct and severing two of it’s fingers but you’d been going too fast and your momentum sent you crashing into the titan’s torso.
A loud snapping sounded upon impact sending panic through you as you wondered what had made that sound. You didn’t have the time to put much thought into it at that moment because you were falling through the air and your training kicked in. You needed to anchor yourself to the titan above immediately and pull yourself up behind it to attack its weak spot. Then you could assess yourself for damage when there wasn’t an immediate threat.
You knew you must have been close to the ground without having to turn and look so you had to move quickly. You pressed the triggers on your gear, expecting to be moving in the opposite direction in just enough time to avoid impact and- nothing. Nothing had happened- you were still falling.
Your chest tightened with every bit of panic you had been trying to push down before. You’d realized the snapping had to have come from your ODM gear and there was no stopping this. Only seconds had passed but it felt like you had been falling for so much longer. You closed your eyes waiting for your life to flash before them like people had said would happen. It didn’t. Instead the thought at the front of your mind as the ground rushed up to meet you was that you didn’t want to give Reiner the satisfaction of seeing you die.
Chapter 3: Chapter 3
Chapter Text
Reiner was pretty sure his heart had completely stopped for a moment as he’d watched you fall. That titan had come out of nowhere, small enough that he hadn’t seen it from his vantage point on that roof, and so very quick when it ran off of a side street, directly into your path. Everything had happened so fast the fact that you managed to avoid the hand grabbing for you showed your amazing reflexes.
You slammed into the ground hard and the titan immediately reached down for your motionless body with it’s uninjured hand. He watched frozen, his instincts screaming that he should let it eat you here and now while no one was around.
You were one of the smartest and strongest soldiers he’d ever met, though he’d never pay you such a compliment to your face. In fact, he was sure you’d have been promoted significantly higher in the ranks if your rivalry with him didn’t constantly make you reckless or getting into trouble. Your strength made you a danger to Marley as well as a huge pain in his ass. Letting you die would be a service to his country. One he’d fulfilled once before when he left Marco on that roof. For his country, he could do it again. Honestly, you were probably already dead from the fall anyway and all of his reasoning was pointless. He could just explain that you were being reckless, speeding through the streets without even watching where you were going and he didn’t get to you in time. A believable story because it was mostly true. He was absolutely going to just let you die.
Reiner’s body was already in motion when he realized he’d made a different decision. He killed the titan in a matter of seconds before speeding to where your body lay on the ground, landing so hard a quick jolt of pain shot through his legs. He knelt beside you and let loose a sigh of relief when he found you still breathing. Blood poured down your face from a cut on your temple, making him frown. He removed his cloak and pressed it against the wound to slow the bleeding and looked around to make sure there were no more surprise titans coming your way.
Deciding he and you were safe for now, he returned his attention to you, surprise and another wave of relief washing through him when his eyes found yours now open.
“Now who’s showing off?” you mumbled grumpily and he let loose a relieved huff of amusement,
“It’s not showing off if the talent comes naturally, princess,” he quipped.
You rolled your eyes and winced from the pain in your head. There wasn’t much of you that didn’t ache, but the pain there and in your left arm was so bad it almost burned.
You tried to sit up and had to muffle a cry of pain when the movement jostled your arm.
“Easy.” Reiner murmured, placing his free hand on your lower back to steady you before helping to gently pull you into a sitting position.
“Thanks,” you said quietly.
He didn’t reply, instead pulling his cloak away from your temple to check your wound. The bleeding had slown considerable but it still looked pretty nasty. It needed to be cleaned and bandaged properly before infection set in.
“We need to get off of the ground in case our squad mates haven’t gotten to that last titan. Or if there are other’s I couldn’t see from the roof. Do you think you can move?” he asked.
“Yeah but my gear broke when I hit the titan. That's why I hit the ground.” You sighed and looked back up at him.
Reiner was suddenly struck by how close you were to each other. With one of his hands holding the cloak to your temple and the other still supporting your back, he could count your every eyelash. He’d been so careful to not get even half as close to you as this before and now you were practically in his lap, looking at him without disgust for the first time since the night he met you.
“Are you okay?” You asked when he hadn’t said anything in response.
He blinked, turning his head away from you so he could think.
“I’m fine, just trying to decide what to do.”
Beginning to feel more steady, you reached up to take over holding the cloak to your head, your fingers brushing Reiner’s when you did. He jerked his hand away in surprise, almost knocking you back over but steadying you again in time. It felt like lightning had rushed through him when your skin had met his. Suddenly feeling a little shaky, he let go of your back as well, stood up and took two steps away from you. He needed distance. Why hadn’t he just let you die? He still didn’t understand what it was about you that set off alarm bells inside of him even after all of this time but they were there and they were screaming at him.
“Do you think your gear could carry both of us? At least to higher ground?”
Shit. You would have to be so close for that to work, if it would work. There had to be another way. He searched the skies, hoping to find someone to wave down for help. Maybe he could leave you here long enough to hunt down another set of ODM gear. You’d be pretty much helpless in the state you were in but he’d already established that you dying would solve so many of his problems. He turned to look at you and frowned. He didn’t know why but he didn’t like the thought of never arguing with you again. Of you being gone. The brief image in his head of your bright eyes dimmed in death caused his throat to tighten to a point that it was painful. He swallowed with difficulty and moved back closer to you. No, something in him wouldn’t let you die yet and he’d have to work out what that was later.
“I don't think I can carry you and operate the triggers but if your arm is well enough for you to hang on to me, it might work.”
You nodded and let loose another sigh. You climbed shakily to your feet and paused, closing your eyes when a wave of nausea washed over you. You waited for it to pass and opened your eyes again, finding Reiner standing very still and staring at you in a way that reminded you of a startled deer.
You took a step forward and he seemed to snap out of it, taking a step of his own to close the distance.
“Okay, I’m gonna just…pick you up I guess? Then you just need to hold on tight.”
You nodded, suddenly feeling awkward. ‘He’s a fellow soldier and your life is in danger,’ you told yourself. Maybe it wouldn’t feel quite as awkward if he didn’t look as if the very idea of touching you disgusted him to the point of being sick. You turned your head away avoiding eye contact with him, hating how self conscious he made you feel, even now when you should have had bigger things on your mind.
His large hands gripped your thighs and you placed your hands on his shoulders to brace yourself as he lifted you and pulled you against him. Your legs wrapped around his torso tightly on instinct, your body not wanting to fall again. You hooked your feet together for extra security and moved your hands from his shoulders to around his neck, locking them together. Your left arm throbbed with pain, bringing unshed tears to your eyes but you could manage for long enough to get out of here and back to your squadmates. You had to.
Reiner’s hands still gripped you as you got settled, and you could feel the heat of them through your pants making you a little too aware of how high they were on your legs. You continued to avoid looking at his face, assuming that his eyes were filled with disgust and not wanting to see that just now. Instead, you rested your head against his chest, trying to shut out the tension filling you as well as the pain. You closed your eyes, hoping it might ease your headache and waited for him to take off, knowing he’d get you both to safety.
Reiner didn't know if he could move his hands. You being pressed against him like this seemed to have broken his brain. He couldn’t take his eyes off of you as you nestled against his chest and closed your eyes like you didn’t have a care in the world even out here in a titan zone, on the ground with no gear of your own. It was like you trusted Reiner to take care of you. If you were this trusting with him who you hated, how were you with others? You were so good with titans but didn’t you understand that people were just as dangerous if you let them be? ‘Stupid girl’ he thought to himself, angry at you for being so careless.
“All okay?” you asked softly without opening your eyes.
He forced himself to release your thighs and immediately your legs tightened around him even more, hold yourself as close to him as possible. He cleared his throat and pushed away his anger for now.
“Yeah. Let’s go.”
Chapter Text
Reiner was in a really bad mood. Ever since that incident with the titan, he’d had a harder time than usual getting you off his mind. It had taken about twelve hours after you’d gotten to safety before he snapped at you. The scouts had stopped to water the horses on the way back to base and you’d approached him to thank him again. Then you’d smiled at him. Before he knew it he’d called you a reckless idiot. He also may have said that you were weak and didn’t deserve to even be a Scout. That you’d only made it this far by hiding behind better soldiers. Your eyes had gone cold, so different from the heat that usually flared in them when you two fought. That had been a week ago and you hadn’t as much as glanced in his direction since, no matter how many snarky remarks he’d thrown your way.
He watched you where you sat across the room laughing at something Jean said and his frown deepened. Your arm was in a sling and you’d been on an ordered rest since you’d gotten back. Sasha had told him she’d heard the medic say that he didn’t understand how you’d managed to move your arm with the state it was in, much less hold yourself up with it. Then you rode a horse all of the way home without ever mentioning any pain. And Reiner had called you weak. He’d known it wasn’t true when he’d said it, he didn’t even know why he had. He just wanted you to leave him alone, he guessed.
Jean leaned closer and whispered something right into your ear that made your eyes sparkle and your smile widen. You’d obviously found whatever he’d said interesting. Reiner found it really fucking annoying. You let out another laugh, this one loud enough that he heard it over the chatter in the room, and he scoffed, folding his arms and leaning back in his chair.
“Why don’t you just fuck her and get it over with?” Connie's voice sounded beside him.
“What?” Reiner asked, shock shooting through him. “What the fuck are you talking about?”
Connie held up his hands and leaned back “I’m just saying. It’s getting a little ridiculous at this point. You’re obviously into her, so just go for it. Honestly, both of you could stand to relieve some of that tension.”
Bertolt had paused with his spoon halfway to his mouth, his eyes on Reiner and filled with curiosity. Reiner could feel his face burning under his scrutiny.
“I am not into her!” Reiner told them both firmly. “That’s disgusting, I would never fu-” he broke off. “I wouldn’t touch her if she were the last woman alive.”
Connie snorted. “Whatever, man. Deny it if you want but you stare at her constantly. I get it, she's extremely hot, I bet she looks even better naked. Wonder if she’d fuck me actually…” He looked over at you thoughtfully.
“Shut up!” Reiner snapped and Connie turned back to him with a satisfied smirk.
“Why? Does the idea bother you?”
“No, you bother me.” Reiner snapped, turning away from him and to the meal he’d barely touched even though they’d been here so long, most of the room had started to empty out.
“Can you both just be quiet?” Bertolt sighed, rubbing his temples.
Connie ignored him, looking back over at you. “I guess it doesn’t matter because it looks like Jean’s gonna beat us both to it anyway, lucky bastard.”
Reiner tried not to look but he couldn’t resist. Jean was whispering in your ear again, so much closer than he needed to be, one of his hands on your uninjured arm and the other holding your hair out of his way. You didn’t look like you minded his proximity at all.
“Who cares what Jean does?” Reiner grumbled, fighting a rising desire to go over and kick his face in.
“I’d guess you do. I mean you’re going to be the one alone in bed tonight while your girl is in Jean’s so-” Connie sprung out of his seat as Reiner lunged for him. Berholdt’s hand on his arm was the only thing that stopped him from following Connie who walked out of the mess hall still laughing.
“Reiner, relax You know Connie just likes to rile people up.” Bertolt said. Reiner allowed himself to be pulled back down into his seat and scowled at the empty spot Connie had vacated. “Are you?” Bertolt asked quietly and Reiner looked over at him quizzically. “Into her, I mean.”
“No!” He snapped loudly but Bertolt didn’t look convinced.
Reiner looked around to make sure no one was within hearing distance but lowered his voice for good measure. “She’s the enemy, Bertolt. I could never truly want any of them.”
Berthold stared for a little longer before nodding his head once. “Okay, good. Because we are here for a reason, Reiner.”
“Do you think I could forget that?” Reiner asked, indignation dripping from every word.
Bertolt looked around. “I think sometimes it might be all too easy to forget that. That we’re not one of them. That in the end, no matter how much time we spend with them or how nice they may seem, they’re the enemy.”
“I haven’t forgotten, Bertolt. The only feeling I have for her is hatred.” his voice had risen slightly, and a few of the people closest to them glanced over in curiosity.
“Okay.” Bertolt said again, turning back to his food. “It was just a question.”
-------------
Reiner was going to find Connie and strangle him. It was hours later and Reiner’s mind would not stop playing Connie's words on a loop. He rested his head against the wall as the water from the shower beat down on his back and squeezed his eyes shut. You were there behind his eyes, your face and eyes lit up with laughter.
‘Why don’t you just fuck her already’ Connie’s voice echoed in his head and the image of you changed to that day when everything went wrong. Your hands were on his shoulders and his hands on the backs of your thighs, the memory of how it felt was so strong. He could feel blood rushing to his cock and tried to think of anything else.
‘I bet she looks even better naked’. The image in his mind became even stronger. Your body pressed against him as he held you. Your most intimate parts flush with his body, the feeling of your breasts against his chest. He was so hard now it hurt and he gave in, gripping his dick in his hand and letting out a low groan at the contact.
How would it feel if it were your hand? Or better, your smart ass mouth? He stroked himself, thinking of your lips wrapped around his cock, fighting to take him all. Finally unable to argue with him. If you were in showers right now would he be able to stop himself from pressing you against the wall and pushing into your hot wet pussy? His hand had sped up. Would Reiner be able to stop himself from fucking you so hard, no other dick could satisfy you? He wanted to make you cum so hard you wouldn't be able to remember any name but his. Fuck.
He spilled over his hand and the shower wall with another low groan and fought to catch his breath as the reality of what he’d just done came to him.
He’d just fucked his own hand to thoughts of his enemy. To thoughts of someone he hated so thoroughly. He’d cum harder than he ever had before and he was still half hard just from the thought of you.
Reiner was in so much trouble.

Chapter 5: Chapter 5
Chapter Text
Two weeks of light duty meant you were extremely bored. The only good thing was that you hadn't been ordered to clean a single toilet the entire time. Of course, this more had to do with the fact that if Reiner was dead to you (and he was), you couldn't get in trouble for fighting with him.
You could see him training with other Scouts now as you watched from an upstairs window. His broad frame was hard to miss even when you tried, as had his strange mood been.
He’d tried to antagonize you and pull you into arguments when you'd first returned to base but the last couple of days he'd just been quiet and sort of jumpy. If possible, he seemed to exit any room you entered almost immediately and never even hurled insults on his way out anymore. If you did happen to occupy the same room, you'd still catch him staring at you from as far away as he could get but something in it seemed different from before, you just couldn’t pin down what. His previous record of not insulting you when you were both at base was something like 12 hours. Eight of those had been because you were in your respective rooms, asleep. He had to be up to something now.
Training came to an end while you stood there watching and everyone either spread out on the grass to rest and chat or made their way inside. You couldn’t help but study Reiner as he drew close enough that you could see the sweat dripping off of him, causing his skin to glisten in the sun. He strolled alongside Bertolt, looking more relaxed than you’d seen him in some time. It wasn’t often that you saw him without a scowl, always directed at you, so seeing him smile at something Bertolt had said was almost fascinating.
Bertolt broke off from Reiner heading for the stables where you were pretty sure he’d been assigned duty this week. You didn’t envy him, you hated the stables almost as much as the bathrooms. You wondered if he’d pissed off Levi or if just had bad luck. You supposed if you and Reiner weren't getting punished, everyone else was getting stuck with the duties you both usually monopolized.
Reiner was almost to the door when his eyes flicked right up to yours like he’d sensed you there. For a second you forgot you weren't supposed to let yourself acknowledge him. He’d been mean to you since you’d met but this time what he’d said had hurt. His words cut deep to where every one of your insecurities hid and dragged them out into the open. You had lowered your walls just a little because you thought something may have changed between you when he’d saved your life. It had been such a stupid, stupid thought. A mistake you promised yourself you’d never get close enough to him to make again, but you still hadn’t turned away from the window. He’d come to a complete stop in the middle of the path, his eyes sparkling with surprise at the sight of you.
“What are you up to?” Jean’s voice startled you. He’d come up behind you and you turned to find him looking at you curiously. You had no idea how long he’d been there watching you stare at Reiner like a freak.
“Nothing!” You said too quickly, feeling your face heat.
Jean titled his head and narrowed his eyes, a playful smirk coming to his lips that said he didn’t believe you. You cleared your throat, unsure why you felt so nervous.
“I was bored so I was watching the training and then I got lost in a daydream and didn’t hear you come up. Surprised me a little.” The feeling that you were overexplaining didn’t stop your skin from heating.
Jean stepped closer to the window and you couldn’t help but glance to where Reiner had been standing. He was gone.
“Not a lot to look at. I feel like we could find you better entertainment than an empty field.” He joked.
“I don’t know. It’s a very interesting field.” You said smiling and he laughed, turning back to you.
“The sun should set soon so it’ll get prettier at least” he teased. "It might really be something to watch then.
Connie’s voice called to you from down the hall and you turned to see him and Sasha coming towards you. “Heard we got a bunch of supplies in. You guys wanna make a dent in the booze before it all goes missing?”
“Absolutely.” You and Jean said together.
-------------
Fucking Jean. You’d finally looked at Reiner for the first time in two weeks and he’d hoped maybe you were done pretending he didn’t exist. If you went back to yelling at him and trying to attack him, then maybe, just maybe, he could go back to how he’d been before too. Instead of being unable to stop fucking his fist to the thought of you whenever he was alone. Instead of rushing out of the room when he saw you because his fantasies would come crashing forwards and he would feel the blood start to rush to his cock.
But Jean had appeared in that window behind you and stolen your attention. He’d been doing that a lot lately, Reiner couldn’t help but notice. He’d been thinking back, trying to decide if this was new or if Jean had always done it. Maybe you just had so much more attention for him to steal now that most of it wasn’t focused on Reiner. Whatever it was, it was extremely frustrating.
“Reinerrr!” Connie’s voice called his name and he turned in that direction, eyes immediately landing on you and Jean who were walking behind him.
“Hey, Connie” he said, forcing his attention off of you and onto the man who’d called his name.
“A bunch of liquor came in with the supplies and we’re rounding up a few people to drink tonight. Grab Bertolt and join us when you’re done with duty.”
“Yeah, man.” Jean added, smiling in such a genuine way that Reiner almost felt guilty for wanting to smash his face in. Almost. “Sasha’s gone ahead so there won’t be any food left but it’ll be fun.”
Reiner looked to see your reaction at him having been invited but you didn’t show one. Face blank you stared into the distance, once again pretending he didn’t exist. His eyes wandered down to where Jean had leaned close enough to you for his arm to brush yours and he felt another stab of annoyance at the man.
“Yeah, I’ll be there a little later. Gotta clean the Commander’s office first.” Reiner waved, heading in that direction.
Hanging out with everyone tonight probably wasn’t the best idea since he’d barely been able to be in the same room as you for days, but he’d be damned if he was going to sit in his bedroom while you were drinking with Jean. In fact, with your guard lowered, Reiner may finally break through the icy wall you’d put up between you both. He was certain that if you just yelled at him or threw something at him, he could go back to being so annoyed with you that the rest of his thoughts about you would stop. No, Reiner couldn’t miss that opportunity.
Chapter Text
You were already feeling a warm buzz from the liquor when Reiner and Bertolt walked in with Christa and Ymir. You were sandwiched between Jean and Eren who had already tried to fist fight each other three times before you moved between them. They now just seemed to be trying to outdrink each other, trading off on occasionally shooting the other glares over your head while Eren ignored Mikasa’s advice to take it easy. Much like he always did, truth be told.
You let out a breath of annoyance as everyone greeted each other and refilled your glass, before slouching down a little in your seat but offering Christa a smile when she beamed at you.
Reiner sank down in a free seat directly across from you and you couldn’t resist glancing at him. His eyes were on your knee and you blinked in surprise when you followed his eyeline and found Jean’s hand there. You hadn’t even noticed him put it there. You probably wouldn’t have thought much of it if you had, there wasn’t much space on this couch, but something in the way Reiner’s jaw was clenched made you shift uncomfortably.
His eyes shot up to yours suddenly and you were caught in his gaze for a few long seconds until you forced yourself to look away, turning to join Armin and Eren’s conversation.
-------------
Reiner was having a lot of trouble following the conversation Bertolt and Sasha had pulled him into. You’d had his attention from the moment he’d walked into the room, sitting between Eren and Jean with too much of you touching too much of both of them. His mouth had gone dry when you leaned forwards to pour another drink and a hint of cleavage showed from where a couple of the buttons from your shirt were undone at the top. The moment Reiner had sat down, Jean’s hand went to your knee, and he'd had to fight a sudden urge to break it. As the night had gone on and Jean drank more and more, his hand had only climbed higher up your thigh. Something you didn’t seem bothered about at all.
Reiner had had enough to drink to feel the buzz of it coursing through him when he realized that drinking more was going to lead to him breaking Jean’s face and having to come up with a reason why. He’d been nursing the last glass he’d poured ever since, grip tightening every time he saw Jean staring at you.
“When do you get the sling off?” he heard Armen ask you, drawing his attention to the blonde boy.
“I’m supposed to go back to see the medic in a few days but I’m ready now. I’m so bored.”
“It’s definitely been quiet” Connie teased and you laughed.
“Miss me?” You asked with a cocky smirk that twisted something in Reiner’s chest. You finished your drink and leaned forwards to refill it, drawing Reiner’s eyes straight back to your cleavage.
“Not as much as Reiner has.” Connie replied with a snicker.
His eyes shot to Connie who winked at him and practically bounced out of his seat and away before Reiner could smack him. That little shit. Had he realized what Reiner was staring at? Reiner glanced at you and found you staring at him with an eyebrow raised and an almost amused look on your face. He shifted uncomfortably, feeling nervous about suddenly having your full attention. You were relaxed enough that your face was missing most of the scorn you usually reserved for him.
“Don’t worry, I haven’t.” He told you gruffly as he felt his face turning red.
“Of course not.” You said to him with a roll of your eyes. “Although, I do have to wonder where all of you misplaced anger is going since you haven't been able to take it out on me.” You tapped your face with one finger as you pretended to think about it.
“Maybe I just haven't been as angry without you around to mess everything up.” He folded his arms and sat back in his seat.
“Or you’re finally realizing you’re the one who fucks everything up.”
“Hardly.”
“My mistake, I was giving your pitiful little brain too much credit.”
“Think what you want, princess, if being wrong is where you’re comfortable.”
“The only place I’m comfortable is wherever you aren’t.” You snapped leaning forwards again and knocking Jean’s hand off your thigh with the movement.
A small feeling of triumph flooded Reiner and he couldn’t stop the smirk from spreading across his face.
“Guys, can we not do this? You two were getting along so well.” Jean tried to diffuse the tension, placing a hand on your shoulder. You shook him off with a small glare in his direction, causing Reiner’s smirk to grow and Jean to lean a little farther away from you.
“We weren’t getting along, we were ignoring each other. I could never get along with this duck brained loser.” You said it like you were replying to Jean but speaking directly to Reiner, your eyes on his.
“What is with you and ducks?” He threw his hands up in the air. “Always with the ducks.”
“They’re viscous and stinky, just like you.”
“I am not stinky.” He replied, eyes wide with surprised outrage.
“Denial is bad for you. Maybe that’s where the smell is coming from.” You were proud of yourself for holding in your laugh.
You were lying, you actually quite liked the way Reiner smelled on the rare occasion you were both close enough to smell him and not surrounded by the stench of battle. How red his face was turning had you in a better mood than you’d been in in weeks though. It had to have been the booze coursing through you because you were almost convinced you had missed this. That couldn’t be true because it would be insane. Almost as insane as you finding Reiner’s eyes down your shirt when Connie drew your attention his way. He must have zoned out or you’d had enough to drink to hallucinate because there was no way…
A small smile spread across your face as you angled yourself forwards again, trying to appear casual. Reiner’s eyes dipped to your chest for the smallest second and you had to hold in a cry of victory. You’d been right! You placed your elbows on your knees and he lost train of thought. His eyes dipped down again for slightly longer before he wrenched them away and stood up.
“Something wrong?” you asked innocently. “Get a whiff of yourself?”
His face turned redder than you’d thought possible and a muscle in his jaw twitched. “I’m going to bed.” He mumbled without looking at you and stormed out.
You sat back in your seat as your feeling of victory gave way to confusion.
“I don’t know why he always has to antagonize you” Jean’s words were slurring just a little and he put his hand back on your thigh, leaning in close a little too close.
You shook him off again, feeling suddenly annoyed. “I’m going to bed too.”
“No, stay and have fun!” He begged, grabbing your hand.
Your annoyance spiked.
“Let go of me, Jean.” You snapped and he dropped your hand like he’d been burned, face falling.
Now you felt like an asshole. It wasn’t Jean’s fault Reiner had…whatever Reiner had done to put you in this weird mood. You reached out and ruffled his hair. “Sorry, I’m just tired. Have fun okay?”
The rest of the base was quiet as you made your way to your bedroom. It must have been later than you’d thought. For the first time you were glad you weren’t on duty, you didn’t pity your friends for having to deal with Levi’s training while hungover tomorrow.
Reiner’s door across from yours was cracked enough that you could see he wasn’t in there. He’d said he was going to bed, but where did he go? Did he go to someone else’s bed? Your stomach turned uncomfortably as you got ready to go to sleep. That couldn't be the case. Who in their right mind would have sex with Reiner? He was just so… frustrating.
You laid there running through the possibilities in your mind for far too long. As soon as you’d convinced yourself to stop thinking about whether he was sleeping with someone or not, your mind would wander to the memory of his heated gaze on you earlier than night. You hated to admit to yourself that he wasn’t bad looking. Hated even more to admit that that was an understatement.
The moon was shining directly into your window and you turned over to gaze at it, hoping it might help calm your racing thoughts. Just as you’d finally started to drift off, you heard your bedroom door slowly open.

Chapter 7: Chapter 7
Chapter Text
Reiner should have gotten drunk. If he had, then maybe he wouldn’t have cared that you’d obviously seen him looking down your shirt. Maybe he now wouldn’t be so aware that things would not be going back to normal when you stopped pretending he didn’t exist. Now he didn’t just feel hatred when you ran your mouth, he felt an overwhelming urge to fuck you stupid.
Instead, he had to rush out of the room because his dick had gotten hard. Again. He hadn’t gone back to his room because he was refusing to give into the urge to jerk off and needed to cool down. He’d already had to take a cold shower once today. So here he was now, outside in the brisk night air, staring at the moon and trying to figure out how he’d gotten himself into this mess. The short answer was that he didn't know. There had just always been something about you that frustrated him in more ways than one from the moment he laid eyes on you and it had just gotten worse lately. Ever since he’d faced the very real possibility that you would die in front of him and then had felt what it was like to have your body pressed against his own.
He sat up with a sigh and rubbed his eyes. It was getting late, he really did need to go to bed now before he fell asleep out here on the grass and has to explain that in the morning.
He could still hear Connie and Sasha laughing but it sounded like most people had gone to bed. Levi was going to murder those two tomorrow. He ascended the stairs and turned onto the hallway that held his bedroom and froze.
Someone was coming out of your room. Someone not you. The light hit Jean’s face and Reiner’s breath caught in his throat. He felt frozen in place, a feeling similar to panic flooding him. What had Jean been doing in your bedroom? He’d walked down the hall in the other direction, stumbling slightly and disappeared around the corner before Reiner’s senses came back and he was able to move.
He marched towards your door, anger flooding him, ready to ask you what you thought you were doing. To ask you how you could possibly have fallen for Jean’s bullshit enough to let him into your bed. His fist was raised, poised to bang on the door when he heard Connie’s laughter echo from not far behind him and stopped. He darted across the hall and into his own room, heart pounding.
What would it look like if he banged on your door and asked about Jean? You would tell him it wasn't his business and if Connie had witnessed it, he would imply Reiner was angry because he was jealous. That was definitely not the case. But why was he actually angry? Jean didn't deserve you for one. You were a pain in the ass but you were an amazing soldier. You were smart, funny, and strong with eyes that sparkled like stars when you were worked up. Reiner couldn't actually think of anyone who would deserve you.
He didn’t get any sleep that night.
-------------
You leaned against the wall at a debriefing, trying your best to stay awake. You hadn't been able to sleep after Jean showed up and tried to crawl into your bed last night. You'd thrown him out but you weren't coping well with the idea that one of your closest friends thought of you in that way, even if it was only because he was drunk. Jean had always been touchy with you, but you thought it was because he was an affectionate person.
You were pretty sure he didn't actually remember doing it either and you couldn't decide if that was better or worse. He smiled over at you from across the room and you forced a small smile back before turning your attention towards the Commander. You caught sight of Reiner instead, glaring at Jean with fury burning in this gaze. What was that about? He and Jean had always gotten along fine.
The meeting concluded with most of your friends being assigned a small recon mission and you being disappointed your arm hadn't been cleared yet so you could join them. It was feeling so much better, you'd tested it this morning and been able to move it with no issues, but you were ordered to give it more time.
You ducked out of the room quickly, trying to avoid Jean. You weren’t completely sure you’d be able to pull off acting normal around him and would prefer if you could get away with not talking to him until he came back from the mission.
You ducked down another hallway, not really having a destination in mind and slowed your pace, assuming you’d lost him.
“Why are you being so fidgety?”
Your body jolted in surprise and you turned around. You’d never been as glad to see Reiner instead of Jean in your life.
“I don’t know what you mean?” You lied, lifting your chin but avoiding his gaze.
“Right…” he rolled his eyes.
“Why are you following me in the first place?” you snapped.
“I’m not. I’m on the way to do supply inventory and you’re in my way.”
You glared at him and stepped to the side holding your arms in the direction of the supply room. “By all means, please don’t stop your important mission on my account,” you said with all of the sarcasm you could muster. “Some of the potatoes might run off before you’ve counted them.” On second thought, with Sasha around, they actually might.
His glare sharpened. “Right, I’m sure you’re in a hurry to get to your secret meeting with your boyfriend anyway,” he snapped, pushing past.
“What the fuck are you talking about?” You asked and he spun back around, taking a step towards you.
“That’s why you’re so jumpy right? Sneaking off to meet up with darling Jean somewhere private?”
“I’m sure this comes as no surprise given how experienced you are with being wrong, but Jean is just my friend.”
Your hands were balled into fists so hard they were shaking and your nails were cutting into your flesh a little but you barely noticed.
Reiner took two more steps forwards and you refused to move away, holding your chin high and glaring with the heat of all of the rage burning inside you. He placed one hand on the wall behind you and leaned closer, jaw tensed with anger.
“Sure, because we all just fuck our friends.” He hissed, his voice low with a forced calm.
You blinked up at him in shock, shifting backwards and feeling your back hit the wall. He stepped forwards again, much too close.
“Nothing to say to that? No quick witted comeback or denial? It wouldn’t matter because I saw. Last night.” His voice was full of something you struggled to identify.
“You need to get your eyes checked.” You snapped, mind racing. Oh shit. He must have seen Jean leaving your room when you kicked him out. But why did it even matter? He wasn’t even in his own bed when he’d said he’d be. You huffed a bitter laugh.
“Don’t lie to me, I know what I saw.” His honey colored gaze burned into your own with an intensity that made your breath catch.
“You know Reiner,” you said, tapping your chin thoughtfully, “you should be more careful. People will start to think you’re jealous.”
He jerked back like you’d slapped him, eyes widening for a second before hardening again.
“You wish. Jean not enough? Hoping you found a real man to satisfy you, huh?” His smirk was obviously forced, recognizable even in your anger, and it tightened when you laughed again.
“You could never satisfy me.”
“I’d never want to.”
“The thought of you touching me makes me sick!”
“Keep telling yourself that, princess.”
“You’re such a-”
Reiner’s lips crashing to yours short circuited your entire nervous system and cut off your insult. You felt like you were flying. Every inch of your body flared with heat and you were kissing him back without ever making the decision to do so. His body pressed into yours, sandwiching you between his broad chest and the wall and you fisted your hand in his shirt, trying to pull him even closer. His lips parted and you mirrored the movement with your own when his tongue brushed your lips, letting it in to explore your mouth. You sucked lightly on his tongue and you heard a moan leave him, encouraging you to do it again. You could feel his hardness pressing against you and a heat was growing low in your belly as you fervently kissed the man who’d claimed to hate you since he’d met you. You couldn’t get enough of his taste, of the feeling of him against you, of the heat of his mouth.
A crash sounded from somewhere nearby and Reiner released you suddenly, taking several steps back. His eyes were wide with something that looked like fear as he stared into yours. You took in his swollen lips and flushed skin as his eyes roamed your face, searching for something. You were trying to catch your breath and fighting the urge to close the distance between you once again when he seemed to regain his composure and his eyes hardened. It was like watching a switch flip in him.
“It doesn’t look like touching me made you sick after all. A pity because I can’t say the same.”
Your mouth dropped open from the shock of him throwing your own words back at you and you fought back the sudden and unexpected urge to cry. You’d never let him have your tears before, never felt this vulnerable, and you didn’t want him to see that he’d affected you so strongly. It wouldn’t have mattered if you let them fall though, he was already walking away from you in the direction of the supply room like nothing had ever happened.
Chapter Text
Reiner was an idiot. He’d never been more certain of anything in his entire life. He’d given in and kissed you. This was somehow way worse than his fantasies of fucking you. He’d kissed you like it had meant everything to him. That kiss had been better than anything his pathetic imagination had ever dared to conjure.
Then he’d done what he always does and fucked it up. He couldn’t let you get close to him. Or if he were honest with himself he couldn’t let himself get close to you. Couldn’t let you become his weakness when he may have to fight you some day. If anything, he’d probably just acted before you had the chance to reject him anyway. You’d kissed him back, sure, but the shock in your eyes told him you’d probably just reacted on instinct. Why would you want someone who’d gone out of his way to insult you at every turn? Hell, you’d said yourself you’d never want him. Then there was the fact that you were sleeping with Jean. But he still regretted it. Regretting lashing out and filling the silence with lies instead of doing what he’d wanted and kissing you again.
He’d never been so relieved to be going on a mission in his life and never dreaded returning more. Every step his horse took back towards base filled him with dread. It had been three weeks and he’d spent every day freaking out about seeing you again and thinking about your lips against his. It had almost gotten him eaten twice now.
Something Bertolt hadn’t failed to notice.
“Are you going to snap out of this any time soon?” He asked from his position on the horse he rode next to Reiner’s.
“I’ve already told you I’m fine.”
“If you were fine, you wouldn’t be out here doing your best to get eaten by a titan. Do you know what happens if you get eaten, besides the obvious part where you die?”
“I didn’t get eaten, Bertolt. You’re being paranoid.” Reiner snapped. This was the third time they’d had that exact conversation and he was sick of it.
“I know you and something’s up. Lying to me about it is selfish.” Bertolt said, carefully keeping his voice low enough that they wouldn’t be overheard.
“Selfish?” Reiner asked, facing him with a brow raised.
“Yes, selfish. Or have you forgotten that we’re the ones Marley is depending on? That we’re the ones who have to save Annie?” Bertholdt stared straight ahead, his jaw clenched and his grip on the reigns of his horse so tight his knuckles were white.
Reiner’s face softened as guilt washed over him. “We're gonna get her back, Bert.”
“When?” The pain in his voice was evident, causing Reiner to hold back a wince. He missed Annie and wanted her back but knew Bertolt's feelings for her ran much deeper than his own even though the man had never admitted it.
“Soon. We just need to find out where they're keeping her and we’ll work on a plan to break her out and get her back to Marley without blowing our cover.”
Bertolt didn't reply so Reiner reached over and rested his hand on his friend’s shoulder. “I mean it, Bert. We’ll do whatever it takes.”
Bertolt finally turned and looked at Reiner with a small smile on his face. “Whatever it takes.” He repeated and Reiner smiled back at him.
Turning back around on his horse, Reiner forced the memory of your face, lips swollen from his kiss, from his mind.
-------------
You’d spent most of the day in the streets of Mitras, waiting for Hange to be done with their business here. You’d been cleared for duty a week after most of the other scouts had left so Hange had brought you as backup to Wall Sina where they’d had something to do that seemed to be top secret since you still had no idea why any of you were there.
This mostly meant you’d been wandering around the various districts you’d stopped in while you waited for them to finish whatever they were doing, given the task to observe and report any gossip or anything that seemed weird. Really, by the third day of this, you were certain you’d just been brought because Hange felt sorry for you and had been sick of seeing you moping around base. The moping was over though, now you were pissed. You’d dreaded seeing Reiner again and had even tried to devise a plan to avoid him for the rest of your life but now you couldn’t wait until you were both back from your missions. Couldn’t wait to put your boot so far up his ass, he’d taste it.
You spent your days fantasizing about getting your revenge. Fantasizing about punching his stupid face and kicking his stupid ass. You couldn’t stop a different sort of fantasy at night, however. One that was spurred by the memory of him pressing you against that wall and kissing you like he’d meant to claim you. As soon as you’d close your eyes, your brain would betray you. Sleep wasn’t even an escape. You dreamed of him every night and woke up aching and needy with a telling dampness between your thighs. This, of course, had just made you even more angry.
You now sat at a table in a bar, idly doodling in the notebook you'd been carrying around. You’d just taken some quick notes on a conversation you'd heard between two MPs that suggested Commander Pyxis liked for the person he was seeing to pretend to be a Titan in the bedroom, chasing him around and trying to bite him. You’d never been one to kinkshame but there were some images you’d like to keep out of your head. This was probably not the kind of gossip Hange was interested in but you'd been entertained by how obviously full of shit the MP was and to be honest, you never really knew with Hange. You added a mustache to your little bald stick figure wondering how people even came up with half of the stuff they said.
“Anything interesting?” Nifa asked, sitting at your table with a drink in her hand.
“Not unless you want to hear rumors about Commander Pxyis’ sex life,” You said laughing when she grimaced.
“I think I'm going to have to pass, as much as I usually love sex rumors. We're off duty tonight though, so maybe I'll start some of my own.” She joked, eyeing some men who stood at the bar.
“With Pyxis?” You joked back and she laughed.
“Wait, we’re off duty?” You asked, brain catching up to the first part of her sentence.
“Yep, Hange just gave the word. They're done here and we’re heading back in the morning so tonight we can enjoy ourselves.” She took a long sip of her drink and eyed you mischievously. “Although, as much as I think you need to relieve some tension, I get the feeling you'd enjoy yourself more back at base.”
Your brows came together in confusion. “What do you mean?”
She rolled her eyes and sighed. “Kirstein? There's something there right?”
You felt your cheeks heat. What was it with everyone thinking something was going on with you and Jean?
“No! We're just friends.”
“Uh huh. Listen I know we aren't supposed to date our squadmates so I get why you're denying it but everyone does it. We just don't wave it around all official like and no one cares. You're obviously more than friends.” She finished her drink, turning the cup back to get the last few drops.
“We’re really not, Nifa. I don't think of Jean that way,” you told her earnestly.
“Well you're thinking of someone that way. You spend half your time daydreaming with glazed eyes and the sexual frustration rolls off you in waves the other half. You’d have to be blind not to see it. If it's not Kirstein, I’m even more curious to know who.”
She winked and walked back to the bar to get another drink while you felt your skin get even hotter. Could you explain that she'd been reading you wrong and you'd just been thinking of kicking Reiner’s ass. What if she asked if that's the only thing you thought about Reiner and read the truth on your face. You pressed your head down on the table with a groan, forcing out the memories that your thoughts had welcomed in. When had life gotten so complicated?
-------------
Even with all of the awkwardness you felt and Nifa’s comments in the back of your mind, it was so good to see Jean and the rest of your friends again. He hugged you tight and you hugged him back, feeling Reiner’s eyes on you.
“How long have you all been back?” You asked, reaching out and rubbing Sasha’s head.
“Oh, just two days. Where'd you go with Hange? Heard it was some super secret mission.” Connie raised a questioning eyebrow.
“If it was a secret, what makes you think I’ll tell?” you teased.
“I heard you all went to check on Annie.” Jean said and your eyes shot to him.
“Where did you hear that?” you asked curiously, rumors never failing to amaze you.
“That’s what a bunch of people were saying when I asked where you were.”
“Did you see her?” Connie asked, enough surprise in his expression that you knew he hadn't heard that rumor.
“If I had, I still wouldn't tell you all. You can tell me all about your non-top secret mission at dinner, though.” You threw your friends a cheeky smile and walked around them, wanting to throw your stuff in your room and shower immediately. The sooner you didn’t smell like horse, the better.
-------------
Bertolt's grip on Reiner’s arm was painful as they both stood frozen staring after you.
“Reiner, she might know where Annie is.” His voice was low but every word was threaded with excitement.
Reiner didn't respond, still staring after you. Dread was surging through him instead of the hope Bertolt was feeling. Why would you of all people have the information he needed. The information he’d promised his friend he’d do anything to get. Was the universe just fucking with him at this point? Telling him that all of his efforts to stay away from you were just a joke.
“We have to get her to tell us.” Bertolt said, still staring after you.
As if you'd heard him, you looked over your shoulder, your eyes finding Reiner’s instantly. The ice in your glare sent a shiver through him.
“Bert, I don't think she's going to tell me anything.” Reiner said quietly. “She hates me. If looks could kill, I'd be dead where I stand.”
“Well, figure it out.” Bertolt snapped.
Reiner looked over at the usually mild mannered man in surprise. Bertolt was flushed red, a muscle in his jaw ticking as he stared at the door you'd now disappeared through.
“I don't care what you have to do, how much pride you have to swallow. I’ve never understood what your deal is with her or what she did to make you hate her more than the rest but you promised we'd do whatever it takes.” He looked over at Reiner finally, his eyes filled with hope and determination.
Reiner nodded, swallowing the lump in his throat and clapping the other man on the shoulder. He was right. They'd do whatever they could to get their fellow warrior back.
He couldn't let one single woman deter him. Even the one he’d wanted to grab and press against him the moment you'd rode in and dismounted from your horse. You'd almost run him over where he stood with Bert, shoveling hay. He’d had to dodge your bag when you swung it too close to his head before walking off to embrace your darling Jean without a glance. Fire had raced through him, meeting your unyielding wall of ice. The wall he might now have to try and smash through for Bert and Annie.
Reiner suppressed a sigh, rubbing his temples to try and hold back the headache he could feel coming. The universe was definitely fucking with him and the worst part was he was pretty sure he deserved it.
Notes:
Every single chapter, I'm filled with the urge to write in a quick untimely death for Bertolt so I never have to spell his name again.
Anyway, I just reedited a tiny bit of this chapter like two minutes ago and am still not happy with it but I needed it to get what happens in the next few. Thank you all for reading, I love each of you so much and want to marry you.
Chapter 9: Chapter 9
Chapter Text
You smiled triumphantly as you kicked Armin’s legs out from under him and pinned him to the ground.
“Pinned again.” You teased, getting off of him and helping him to his feet.
“I think I need a break before you break my knee.” He grumbled good naturedly and you winced looking down at the leg you knew you'd been rough on.
“Sorry, Armin. You just kept leaving it open.”
“I’ll work on that,” he sighed before his eyes widened as they caught on something behind you.
You let out a squeak of surprise as he grabbed you and dragged you out of the way seconds before Jean landed on the ground right where you'd been standing.
“Armin” Jean groaned from his spot on the ground “switch with me. He's a mad man today, I don't know what his deal is.”
You turned around to see Reiner striding towards the three of you, a cocky grin on his face that sent adrenaline rushing through you.
“I’ll switch.” You offered immediately, stepping forwards to meet the man.
“Wait-” Jean and Armin both protested at the same time but you ignored them tilting your head to the side as you smiled at Reiner in challenge.
He smiled back and walked even closer to you, leaning in so only you could hear. “Coming to your boyfriend's rescue? I’m not surprised Jean needs you to fight his battles.”
You let out a laugh then lunged without warning, slamming your fist directly into the large man’s throat. Satisfaction rushed through you when he hit the ground, struggling to catch his breath.
“Actually, I've just been dying to do that.” You told him, still laughing.
“Soldier! Laps, now!” Levi’s angry voice cut across the field to you.
You smiled brightly at the captain even though you doubted he would have punished anyone else for that move. You turned your bright smile on Reiner for a second then began your punishment without any regrets. You instantly felt better than you had in weeks, and would now firmly preach that every day should start with an opportunity to throat punch Reiner.
-------------
Bertolt walked up to Reiner and crouched next to him. “Amazing. It didn't take 24 hours for you to get her to punch you in the throat. Really good job, Reiner. I’m glad you’ve dedicated yourself to winning her over.” Sarcasm rolled off him in waves.
“I’m really not appreciating this new Bert” Reiner sat up, his voice coming out as a rasp.
Bertolt reached out and gave him a light smack on the back of his head. “Then stop being an asshole.”
Reiner stared after him open mouthed as he strode off across the field. He let out a groan and let his body fall back to the ground, suddenly exhausted, and turned his head to the side to watch you run. How was he supposed to win you over when he had no idea how to talk to you? On top of that, he was sure this was an awful idea. But he had told Bert they’d do anything for Annie… And he’d be lying to himself if he said that an excuse to be near you didn’t send a small shiver of excitement through him. Which was exactly why this was an awful idea. He groaned, covering his eyes with his palms and pressing down, trying to hold off the headache he could feel forming.
“Get up, Reiner, it was barely a love tap.” Captain Levi snapped at him, pulling him out of his pity party.
The tips of his ears burned red at the words “love tap” but he ignored it, getting to his feet. Reiner needed to get his shit together and another hour of kicking Jean’s ass might put him on track. It would, at the very least, make him feel better.
-------------
Hours later you dragged yourself off the training field, thoroughly exhausted and dying for a shower. Captain Levi had you running until you thought your legs would collapse but you still had no regrets. The sight of Reiner on the ground, gripping his throat and gasping for air would sweeten your dreams for a while now. You ignored the little voice reminding you that your dreams about Reiner weren’t the problem. It was the version you saw when you were awake.
You groaned as the subject of your thoughts came into view. He was sitting on the ground, arms behind him and staring up at the night sky. His eyes flicked to you at the sound of your groan.
Your feet slowed as you neared him, coming to a stop in front of him, even as your brain told you to keep walking.
“Waiting to be an asshole to me again?” You asked, feeling so much more tired all of a sudden.
He let out a laugh and let himself fall back on the grass, eyes still on you. “Maybe later.”
Your eyes narrowed with suspicion “That’s it? Where’s the ambush?”
“If I told you ahead of time, it wouldn’t be an ambush would it? Maybe I’m here waiting to be ambushed by you again. Aren't you the one who literally attacked me earlier today?”
“Are you trying to say you didn’t deserve it?” Your voice held a fierce challenge that caused Reiner to raise one of his eyebrows.
“No, I didn’t say that, but I certainly didn't enjoy it.” A hint of an amused smile graced his lips as he looked back up at the moon.
Your head was spinning from the effort of trying to understand the man in front of you so you sank to the ground across from him as your exhaustion won out.
“If you’re not waiting to insult me, then why are you out here?” You lay back on the grass and closed your eyes.
“I come out here a lot at night, I just think it’s nice.”
“You just think it’s just nice?” You repeated, incredulously, not having expected this man who could be so cruel to you to find peace in something so simple. He almost seemed to be two different people sometimes.
You cracked your eyes open to look at him and found that his own were back on you. You felt something tighten low in your stomach as his eyes raked over your form. He was so attractive like this, as much as you hated to admit it, with the moon shining on his skin and his beautiful mouth not hurling insults your way. His honey colored eyes almost seemed to burn as you looked into them until you had to force yourself to turn your head back towards the sky before closing your eyes again.
“It’s pretty much the same no matter where you are. Maybe a different angle but it’s all still there. It’s still the same moon. When you look at it, you can pretend you're home.”
“Reiner, are you drunk?” You finally ask, sitting up and narrowing your eyes at him. He laughed again and mirrored you.
“I wish, princess. Pretty sure if there’s any booze left it’s been hidden by leadership so we can’t finish it off. Why do you ask? Were you hoping to take advantage of me?” He threw you a cocky smirk as he got to his feet.
“You wish.” You snapped ignoring the hand he offered you and standing up as well.
“You gonna sucker punch me again?” Reiner's smirk said he'd like he’d like to see you try and you rolled your eyes, pretending you weren't considering it.
“If I told you ahead of time, it wouldn’t be a sucker punch would it?” You mocked, throwing his words from earlier back at him.
He laughed again and you shook your head, still thoroughly confused about his mood, before walking around him, resuming your journey to the showers without a second glance his way.
Reiner watched you go with a smile on his face, feeling lighter than he did after most conversations with you. Without the added pressure to push you as far from him as you could go, he’d almost enjoyed chatting with you. As much as he could enjoy chatting with any enemy, his inner voice reminded him, dulling his smile. It fell away completely as he realized that it had never even crossed his mind to ask you about Annie.

Chapter Text
“Why don't we just ask her?”
Reiner fought to hold in a sigh of annoyance at Bertolt's question.
“She wouldn't tell her darling Jean, why would she tell either of us? Especially me.” Reiner regretted mentioning Jean as soon as he’d finished speaking. He sounded bitter even to his own ears but luckily Bertolt was too distracted to notice.
“What about her notebook?” Bertolt asked, wiping the window down with a cloth.
“What notebook?” Reiner turned to him.
“The notebook she came back with? She pulled it out of her saddlebag. How did you not see the notebook, you were looking right at her.”
Reiner felt his face turning red and turned around to face the shelf he’d been dusting before the other man noticed. Reiner hadn't been looking at your hands.
“I don't know, I was mostly trying not to get trampled by her horse.” It was partially true.
Bertolt let out a sigh. “Well she came back with a notebook I don't remember seeing her have before. Maybe there's a clue in it.”
“Have you seen the notebook since then?” He asked, rubbing the bridge of his nose when Bertolt said no. “So how are we supposed to get our hands on this notebook that could be anywhere?”
“It’s probably in her bedroom,” Bertolt said thoughtfully. “Just go in and look for it.”
“Why me?” Reiner’s voice filled with alarm.
“Because if you're caught in there, everyone would assume you're just there to piss her off in some way. If I'm caught in there, there's not really an excuse.”
He hated that that made sense. The last place Reiner needed to be was your bedroom.
“Unless you have a better idea.” Bertolt prompted when Reiner didn't reply.
“I’ll look for it.”
-------------
You were pretty confident you’d lost your mind. Or that Reiner had, actually. You watched him eating his dinner while he laughed with Connie and couldn’t bring yourself to look away. Ever since that night when you’d found him looking at the sky, he’d been different. More relaxed and almost friendly towards you if such a thing was possible. He had to be planning something. Some way to get you to let your guard down for him yet again so that maybe he could truly break you this time. You didn’t trust it one bit. You certainly didn’t trust the stupid little summersault your stomach did when he looked over at you and his eyes met yours. His lips curved upwards in a smirk or a smile. You looked away before you could decide which and found Jean looking at you as well.
“What?” you asked, tone coming out a little harsher than you’d intended.
“You haven't heard anything I said?” Jean frowned at you.
“No, she’s too busy staring at Reiner.” Ymir said with a laugh.
“I’m not!” You snapped, annoyance shooting through you when they both raised an eyebrow in response.
“You are, actually. All you ever do is stare at each other. I don't know why you don’t just kiss and make up already because you’re making the rest of us craz-ow!” Ymir glared over at Christa who blinked at her innocently.
Your skin felt like it was on fire. Like it might actually melt off. The memory of Reiner kissing you that time in the hall burned through you like a flame and you reached for your water to clear your suddenly dry throat.
“That’s not funny, Ymir, she hates Reiner.” Jean protested, looking a little too put out for your liking. You still really wanted him trying to hook up with you to have been a drunken fluke. He was right though.
“Exactly,” you said, agreeing with him. “Also, “making up” implies that there’s ever been anything but hatred there in the first place and the fact is that that’s not the case.”
“Oh please.” Ymir rolled her eyes.
“Ymir..” Christa warned but in true Ymir fashion, she continued.
“The fact is that Reiner started thinking with his dick the moment he saw you and panicked because he’s a chickenshit meathead who doesn’t understand his own feelings.”
You stared at her open mouthed, taking note that Jean was turning a little red. Christa placed her head in her hands and sighed like stopping Ymir from saying something annoying was a full time job. It probably was.
“Ymir, where do you get half of the bullshit that comes out of your mouth? Is there a field or something you could point me to?” you asked and she laughed. “No really. I could probably use a few hours of being delusional, it sounds relaxing.”
This drew a laugh from Jean too and you saw some of the tension leave his shoulders.
Ymir turned back to her plate of food “Oh it is, but I’m not wrong about this.”
“You definitely are. Reiner and I wouldn’t touch each other if we were the last two people in the world.” You told her firmly, getting up from the table.
She opened her mouth in response but Christa kicked her under the table again, drawing her attention from you.
You could hear Christa laughing in response to Ymir’s annoyance as you walked out. Maybe Ymir should worry about her own love life and do something about her obvious interest in her pretty best friend.
You walked to your room slowly, thoughts racing through your head as you passed a few Scouts here and there.
You’d said you and Reiner would never touch each other except you already had. You’d kissed over a month ago and it had been the hottest, most passionate kiss of your life. His mouth had fit perfectly against your own like you were two halves of the same whole.
Then Reiner had opened his big dumb mouth and told you you didn’t interest him, that it was all a cruel joke and you’d believed him because, as much as it hurt, that made sense to you. That had tracked with every experience you’d had with him. Except…now that you were thinking about it, it definitely felt like you had interested him when he was literally moaning into your mouth and when you’d felt the hard outline of his dick pressed against you. Your pussy throbbed at the memory you’d been trying to repress. The one that fueled your dreams.
Who treated someone they were into like this though? Even if it was just sexual attraction? If Ymir was right, and you didn't think she was, that man was a basketcase. He wasn’t the only one though. You had to be crazy to feel a little sliver of hope that he did want you. That one day he might break and kiss you again, even while you realized you may not emotionally recover from his reaction to it the next time.
You collapsed face down on your bed with a groan the moment you entered your room. Shoving your face into your pillow to muffle the sound, you let out a scream of frustration. You’d let Ymir get in your head and you needed her to get the fuck out before you did something stupid.
-------------
Reiner had been thoroughly enjoying not feeling pressure to go out of his way to be mean to you. He told himself he needed you closer because you had the information he needed and that any enjoyment was stemming from him making an effort to accomplish that. It seemed to unsettle you though. Whenever he spoke to you, you’d look at him through narrowed eyes like you were waiting for the other shoe to drop. Part of him wished he’d tried this strategy a few months ago to annoy you because it obviously would have worked. Now instead of finding himself watching you, he’d look over and find your eyes on him. You always looked away immediately like you were embarrassed to be caught and he’d find himself unable to hold back a small smile.
He was also enjoying how put out Jean looked when he was leaning close to you, trying to draw you into conversation, and you didn’t even notice because your eyes were on Reiner. This had just happened at dinner, but not for the first or even the second time, and the memory drew a smile to his face.
What he was not enjoying was how hard it was to get into your bedroom for some reason. Promising to get the notebook was so much easier said than done. Anytime he was able to sneak off, you were in your room or someone was too close by. Honestly, how many times did this hallway need to be swept? Were the other hallways being swept as thoroughly and if so, where were we getting the manpower for that much sweeping on top of all the other stuff? A week had gone by without a single chance to look for that damn book and Bertolt was getting impatient.
Now Reiner lay in the dark, staring up at the ceiling thinking back to his friend’s face when he told him before dinner that he had once again failed to check your room. He didn't know what he was supposed to do. The only time things were ever quiet around here was when everyone was asleep.
He sat up as the thought occurred to him. What if he just went in while you were asleep. He'd noticed you always slept heavier than you should when you were on a mission. Most people slept lightly, always on alert, but not you. He imagined you’d sleep through anything in your more comfortable bed. Especially since you’d been forced to run laps before dinner after you’d pissed off the Captain once again, something that was bordering on impressive at this point. Reiner would just be very quiet and you’d never know he was there.
He padded across the hall to your door and stopped with a hand on the handle. This was insane. How would he explain this if he were caught? He leaned against the door with his ear against the wood, listening for any sound you were awake. Finding none, he slowly twisted the handle.
What if Jean is in there? The thought stopped him dead in his tracks for a second before his expression hardened. If Jean was in there he was going to drag him kicking and screaming into the hall and bash his face in is what. He might do that soon anyway, he was really sick of seeing him next to you every waking minute.
Reiner pushed the door open just a crack and peered inside. The moonlight shone brightly through your window, illuminating your sleeping form. Your lone sleeping form. He let out a breath of relief and opened the door wide enough for him to slip through before shutting it behind himself.
You were on your side, facing him and he stopped to stare for a moment. You looked so peaceful asleep with your brow smooth and lips slightly parted. His eyes traveled lower to where your blankets had been pushed off and your shirt had ridden up exposing your skin. His throat went dry when he realized you hadn’t worn pants to bed and he closed his eyes, taking a deep shuddering breath before he forced himself to turn away. He tried to make himself think of anything other than crawling into your bed and showing you just what his problem with you was. Showing you what a mistake you were making with Jean.
Reiner walked over to your dresser and carefully shuffled through the books you had stacked on top of it. No notebook. Where else would you have put it? Was Bert even right about it existing? That would be his luck, the other man being on his ass for weeks about something he’d imagined.
You made a small sound and he looked back towards you to make sure you were still knocked out. He allowed himself another minute to watch you, having to remind himself of how creepy this was in order to take his eyes off of you. He glanced towards the window, admiring how well he could see the moon from your room and caught a glimpse of a book on the window sill. He walked towards it and picked it up, his heart speeding up when he realized it was a notebook. He opened it, turning to a page at random.
Commander Pyxis has a titan kink. Likes to be bitten.
Reiner’s eyebrows shot up and he almost choked on nothing. ‘Fucking plot twist’ he thought to himself. How did you even know that? He flipped back to the beginning, hoping to find information on Annie and maybe a little more context about the Pyxis thing.
He skimmed a few pages quickly, trying to decide if you’d notice if he took the notebook with him. He couldn’t see any mention of Annie but Hange’s name jumped out at him a few times. He really needed to be able to examine the book carefully. Reiner was sliding it into his pocket when the quiet sound of his name coming from behind him sent an ice cold wave of panic down his spine.

Chapter Text
“Reiner.”
His name poured from your lips, sounding breathless. He turned to you, thoughts racing as he tried to come up with any excuse for why he’d be standing in your room in the middle of the night while you slept.
Your eyes were still closed. He took two careful steps forwards to make sure but you were still asleep. Had he imagined your voice? He didn’t think so, it had sounded far sweeter than any memory he had of you saying his name in the past. Something about it had made him ache. You’d said his name in your sleep. Not Jean’s or anyone else's. His. Were you dreaming about him?
He stared down at your sleeping body, taking note of your heavier than usual breathing. You rolled over onto your back and let out a needy whine that went straight to his cock. He felt it begin to grow hard as your body writhed on the bed. He watched you squeeze your thighs together and you whined again. His throat went dry as realization struck. You were having a sex dream. You were having a sex dream and you’d said his name.
Your face twisted with need and you let loose a sigh.
“Rei-” you moaned, causing his cock to jump. It was now straining against his pants so hard it hurt and he palmed it to try and relieve some of the pressure.
Your body twisted under the covers and you whined yet again, sounding so needy, so desperate- desperate for him that he’d reached out and touched your face before his brain caught up.
Your eyes flew open and you gasped when you found him there. Reiner couldn’t move, hand still on your face as you stared into each other's eyes for a few long seconds.
Finally he cleared his throat and said the first thing that came to mind “I wanted to make sure you were okay. I could hear you from across the hall.” He didn’t sound believable even to his own ears but you hardly seemed to be paying attention. Instead your eyes had traveled down, down, down to where his hard cock still strained against his pants. He felt himself turn red and dropped his hand from your face before taking a step away.
You caught his hand and he turned back towards you in surprise. You’d sat up in bed and were staring up at him with wide eyes, your breathing still heavy and your lips parted just slightly.
“Reiner- '' you started and then stopped, looking like you wanted to say more but didn’t know how. His heart was beating erratically in his chest as he stared down at you. Usually when you said his name it was with a tone of disgust or fury but for the second time that night and the second time ever, you’d said it differently. Like his name was the sweetest honey. He really, really needed to get out of here before-
“Fuck it,” he muttered to himself and then he was kissing you, one knee on the mattress and both hands cradling your head. Lights flashed behind his eyes and a roaring sounded in his ears. This must be a dream he told himself. He’d fallen asleep back in his room and this was just another dream of you. Except none of his dreams had ever felt this good.
You kissed him back fervently. Like you needed him to breathe. Like your life literally depended on it. One of his hands dropped to your waist and he shifted you just a little bit closer still kissing you so hard he thought he might get lost in you. He gently pushed you back down onto the bed and followed you, breaking from your mouth and kissing down your throat, relishing in the sounds it drew from you. Your legs wrapped around him and pulled him closer, causing him to let out a low groan when your barely clothed cunt rubbed against him.
“Reiner, I need you,” you told him, all caution and common sense thrown to the wind in the heat of the moment. He groaned again, grabbing the hem of your shirt and pulling it over your head.
He pulled away to take his pants off and you barely had the chance to kick off your underwear before he was back, taking one of your nipples into his mouth and drawing a moan from you. His hand moved down so he could run one finger through your folds, and he released a sharp breath when he discovered how wet you were. He pushed one finger inside you and you moaned, grinding down against it. He pumped it in and out of you before adding a second and doing the same. He loved how you were reacting to his touch, almost vibrating with need while sweet, sweet sounds fell from your lips.
He couldn’t resist pulling his fingers out and tasting you. God, you tasted amazing. He wanted to spend hours between your legs, tasting you and teasing you until you couldn’t breathe and you were begging him to let you cum on his face.
“Reiner, please.” You begged and he looked back up at your face, seeing nothing but desire and need reflected in your eyes. “Please, please just-”
“Shhh” he said, lining himself up with your entrance as he shook slightly with anticipation. “I’ve got you, princess.”
He pushed into you slowly until he bottomed out and had to stop, taking deep slow breaths until he was sure he wasn’t going to cum right then and there. You felt amazing. Your tight wet heat, pulsing around him felt like it had been crafted just for his dick.
“Please” you said again, this time in a whisper, wide eyes on his own.
He leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on your jaw before pulling almost all of the way out of you and pushing back in harder than before. You cried out and the sound urged him on as he began fucking into you. His large hands gripped your hips harshly and he used them to pull your body up to meet his every thrust.
Reiner kissed you savagely again, swallowing up your moans. You felt better than he ever imagined. His mouth moved back to your neck and he trailed bites down it, encouraged by how your pussy clamped down every time his teeth met your skin. Fuck, he wasn't going to last.
“Fuck, oh fuck” you began chanting under your breath and he moaned, loving that he was the reason you were making those sounds.
He reached down between your bodies to your clit and felt you clamp down around him almost the moment he touched it. You came, your body shaking and milking his cock as he fucked you through your orgasm. Pulling out of you not a moment too soon, he spilled his release on your stomach with some regret. He hadn't wanted to leave the warm heat of you, but even half out of his mind with pleasure, he wasn’t that much of an idiot.
Reiner stared down at where his release glistened on your skin as you both took a moment to catch your breath. His throat tightened as he realized that the image of you in that moment would be burned into his mind for the rest of his life.
He abruptly stood up, pulled his pants on quickly, and left the room. You hated how fast your heart dropped even though of course he’d run away as soon as what you’d done hit him. You hated how stupid you felt. You hated that you'd let yourself think this was anything more than- he was back.
He’d gotten a rag from who knows where which he used to wipe you off carefully, eyes still devouring your naked form with hunger until you could feel your face begin to heat.
“Uhm” he cleared his throat, shifting uncomfortably. “What do- Do you want me to stay or?”
You found the nervous look on his face more endearing than you should have. You didn’t want to sleep alone now but the thought crossed your mind that you should tell him to leave before shitty Reiner came back and took the place of this one who’d fucked you better than anyone ever had before. This was same Reiner who’d been under the stars telling you why the sky brought him comfort and who had saved your life and who looked cute when he was nervous.
“Or I can leave, that’s okay too. Whatever you want of course.” He’d begun backing away as he babbled.
“Stay. Please.” It came out so quietly. You were still unsure it was the right call.
A flash of something crossed his face before he nodded, quickly kicked back out of his pants and crawled into your bed beside you. It was a tight fit, the beds had not been made for two people, especially when one of them was as large as he was, but you fell asleep almost the moment you settled in.
Reiner watched you sleep, mind gloriously quiet for once. He’d done the one thing he thought he’d never do but he didn’t think about the consequences right then. Didn’t think about anything except for how good you looked right now like this and how you’d looked even better cumming for him. A small smile graced his mouth as he finally gave into exhaustion and slept.

Finally right?
Have been extra busy with life lately but know I love and appreciate you all!
Chapter 12: Chapter 12
Chapter Text
You were warm. So comfortably warm. A cozy pressure rested across your torso, and your head was pressed against bare skin.
Your eyes snapped open as last night came rushing back and you had to tilt your head up to look at Reiner’s face. His eyes were closed as he slept peacefully on your pillow, so close you could have counted every one of his eyelashes.
You had slept with Reiner. You had had sex, amazing earth shattering sex, with a man who’d made you miserable and you had enjoyed every single second of it. He had fucked you like he needed it and your mind had shut off and let you just feel the pleasure of it all.
But what now? Now that you’d gotten this out of your system would those ridiculous dreams stop? Would you both just go back to insulting each other? He’d claimed he wasn’t attracted to you but last night said otherwise.
“Stop frowning at me.” Reiner grumbled, his morning voice making him sound gravely and entirely too attractive for someone you’d gotten out of your system. Shit. You frowned even harder.
“What is your problem?” You asked and he groaned, turning his head and burrowing his face further into the pillow.
“Right now it’s you chirping at me while I’m trying to sleep.”
“I don’t mean now, I mean you put so much energy into being a dick to me and then this?”
Reiner sighed but didn’t respond and your annoyance grew. You pulled away from him, intending to get up but met resistance when you tried to struggle out from under his arm. He let out a groan of annoyance before his grip on your waist tightened and he tugged you closer. He propped himself up on one elbow and looked down at you with an annoyed expression that quickly turned amused.
“Let me go!” You snapped.
He propped himself up on one elbow and looked down at you with an annoyed expression that quickly turned amused.
“What are you smirking at?”
“Just wondering how you’re going to explain those marks on your neck to your little boyfriend.”
Your eyes went wide and you struggled to get up again. This time Reiner released you and you went straight to the small mirror you had on your dresser, dragging your blanket with you, and gasped in horror at the small bruises along your neck. At the bite marks decorating your neck.
“Oh my god.” You whispered, vaguely registering Reiner getting out of your bed and pulling his pants back on. You ignored him coming up behind you as you continued to stare on your reflection. “This is the end for me. I am going to be murdered.”
“Oh please, you could knock Jean’s ass out cold in ten seconds, he can’t even compete with you.”
“No one cares about Jean, you idiot, Captain Levi is going to give me hell.”
Reiner froze. God the captain probably would be an asshole but “What do you mean no one cares about Jean, you don’t think he’s going to care you had sex with another man.”
You rolled your eyes, feeling a headache coming on already.
“That would be what you decide to focus on. I don’t know how much clearer I can be to everyone that I’m not with Jean. I have never been with Jean, I’m never going to be with Jean, he’s my friend.”
Reiner forced himself to ignore the joy those words brought him. Especially when he knew better.
“I’ve seen him leaving your bedroom in the middle of the night.”
“Not that it’s ever been your business but you saw a very drunk Jean leaving my room thirty seconds after he’d gotten there and I sent him to his own room.”
Reiner stared at you, searching for any hint you were lying. His heart was racing and he didn’t understand why he was as relieved as he was. So relieved he couldn’t even tell himself he didn’t care. Why did he actually care if you and Jean were together? Sure Reiner had to admit he was attracted to you. That wasn’t something he could hide after last night but that didn’t have anything to do with how else you spent your time.
“Actually, hold on. Are you telling me you came in here last night and… that last night happened while you thought I was with Jean?”
Reiner felt his face heating as his annoyance grew “You know, I really don’t give a fuck about Jean or what he does with his free time, I was more worried about my own and he was the furthest thing from my mind at the time. Don’t be a brat about it.”
“God, what a surprise that you’re annoying from the moment you wake up. Every time you open your mouth you remind me that you are the most irritating person I know.” You rolled your eyes again, turning back to the mirror, then tensing when he came closer and put his arms on the dresser on either side of you, caging you in.
“Is that so?” He asked, mouth so close to your ear you could feel his breath. “Is that why you were dreaming about me?”
You set the mirror down and turned to face him. “Yes, actually. It was a nightmare. Now get the fuck out.”
Reiner scowled and you gazed back coolly, ignoring how good he looked in the early morning light with his hair sticking out everywhere from sleep. And you definitely ignored the heat in his eyes when he glanced down at your throat and back up before his tongue darted out to wet his lips. Which meant you also had to ignore the desire for him to ignore what you said and kiss you again. And if you ignored all of that, none of it existed.
“Whatever you want, princess.” He turned and strode from the room without a backwards glance.
-------------
You were pretty impressed with yourself. You’d made it through almost the entire day without anyone noticing your neck, mostly because you’d avoided your friends and Captain Levi like separate equally annoying plagues. You were trying not to think about how the fact that you’d kept your head down and stayed out of trouble might be so out of character that it could bring more attention to you than if you were just acting normal when Jean and Connie sat down next to you. You’d picked this table because it was so full, but apparently had been mostly vacated while you were lost in your thoughts.
“What’s up with you today?” Jean asked, attention mostly on his food.
“I don’t know what you mean.” You lied, hunching forwards in an attempt to make your neck less noticeable.
“You’ve been weird.” Connie agreed, mouth stuffed with food.
“I don’t think that’s true.” You mumbled quietly.
Connie turned towards you to argue but his eyes widened in shock and he began coughing when he choked on the food still in his mouth. Jean reached over to hit his back and you began trying desperately to think of an exit strategy.
“What is,” Connie struggled to get out between coughs, “that?”
You winced as Jean’s head swiveled to you and he took in the bruises on your throat.
“What happened? Did someone attack you?” Concern filled his face, making you feel awful. “Was someone too rough during training? Was it Reiner?” His head snapped in the other man’s direction as panic flooded your senses and you struggled not to look too.
“He wishes, '' Connie joked, having finally gotten his coughing under control. “I don’t think it was that kind of rough.”
“What?” Jean asked, turning back around and looking again. “Wait. Did you- Did you hook up with someone?”
You placed your head on the table and groaned.
“Are you kidding me? You actually hooked up with someone?” He’d gotten too loud and you heard some of the conversations nearest you cut off as Connie snickered.
“That’s no one’s business.” You said, quietly but firmly, head still on the table.
“You’re joking right? Not anyone’s business? I-” He cut himself off, sounding much angrier than he should. You sat up and looked at him, noting his red face and furious expression.
“I’m not joking. I’m sorry if you’re pissed for whatever reason that I don’t include you in every decision I make but what I do is my own business.” You had a sinking feeling you knew exactly why he was angry but if he wasn’t going to acknowledge it, you certainly weren’t.
“Who was it?” He snapped, ignoring everything you’d said.
“That is especially no one’s business. I don't know why I keep having to repeat myself.” You snapped back, skin heating. The last thing you needed was anyone finding out you’d slept with Reiner of all people. You were taking that information to your grave.
“I can’t believe this shit.” Jean stood up, voice loud enough that he’d gotten the attention of most of the room. “I can not believe you right now. This is such bullshit.”
“Jean-” You started but he cut you off.
“Save it.” He snapped, turning and storming out of the room.
“Well, that went exactly how I thought it would.” Connie joked as everyone slowly went back to their meals and conversations.
You ignored him, turning back around in your seat. Honey colored eyes met your own across the room and you felt your heart rate spike. He’d obviously seen the entire thing if the self-satisfied smirk on his lips was any indication. His annoying, glorious lips that caused this entire situation to begin with. You couldn’t even bring yourself to regret it as the memories of his touch washed over you. His eyes heated in a way that made you sure he was remembering too and you forced yourself to break eye contact with a sigh. You rested your head back on the table and closed your eyes. There was a small chance, a miniscule one really, that Reiner Braun was not out of your system.

Chapter Text
Reiner tried to keep quiet. It was an impossible task, however. Growing more impossible with each thrust into you. His fingers grip your thighs so tightly he’s sure they'll be bruised tomorrow but he can't let go and you’re certainly not bothered by it if the sounds he was drawing from you were any indication.
Light from the rising sun was creeping in from the window, illuminating you. You looked so beautiful like this. You looked so beautiful all of the time, honestly. Reiner could admit that at least. But like this? Underneath him and so so needy for him? It’s definitely his favorite sight. Except for maybe when you were on top, staring down at him and using his body to chase your own orgasm. That position gave him a terrific view of your breasts. Oh wait but there was also the sight of you on your knees…
Your walls clenching his cock pulled him from his thoughts and he placed his hand over your mouth, trying to quiet you as your orgasm ripped through you. The feeling of you milking his cock sent him over the edge and he pulled out, spilling his release on your thighs.
He collapsed next to you breathing heavily and clenching his eyes shut as the familiar feeling of regret crashed through him like it did every single time.
“That was the last time we’re doing that.” He told you, meaning it this time, but you just rolled your eyes and got out of bed.
“It’s too early for the sound of your voice, Reiner, just get out before everyone’s up.”
“I’m being serious.” He tells you, getting dressed.
“I don’t care.” You said, sounding like you really didn’t.
He didn't understand why that made his chest feel tight. He mentally added it to the list of things he refused to think about as he slipped across the hall and into his own room.
-------------
The sun was hot on your back as you rode alongside Mikasa. Jean rode a couple of feet in front of you and his jaw tightened when your eyes landed on him, almost like he could feel it. It had been three weeks since the incident in the dining hall and he still wasn’t speaking to you. You weren’t sorry for anything you’d said or done but you missed your friend.
Before you could think better of it, you sped up until you were beside him. “Hey.”
“I don’t want to talk to you.”
“Why though?”
He didn’t respond, staring determinedly straight ahead.
“Jean, I miss you. I thought we were friends, why are you acting like this?”
That got his attention and he threw you a scathing glare in response. “Why don’t you go complain to your little boyfriend about it and get out of my face.”
He pulled ahead, leaving you staring after him, open mouthed. You couldn’t stop yourself from looking for Reiner and found him glaring after Jean, hands gripping the reins of his horse so tight his knuckles were white.
“You’re really not this dumb usually.” Ymir said so casually it took a second for you to realize she was talking to you.
“I’m really not in the mood for your cryptic bullshit right now, so say whatever you want to say or go away.”
“Jean is pathetically in love with you and in his small little mind, you betrayed him. Meanwhile, you’re refusing to notice so you can keep pretending you’re friends without ever having to deal with it. It’s been entertaining all this time but that wounded look you both keep putting on is grating.”
“Why don’t you mind your business then instead of inventing fake drama?” You snapped and she laughed.
“Oh yeah, the drama is definitely all made up.” She smirked, looking meaningful in Reiner’s direction.
You followed her gaze and found him glaring at you now. Heat flared within you the moment your eyes met his and you forced yourself to turn away, looking forward and pushing away the memories of his hands on you that morning. Why was he even glaring anyway? What had you done to piss him off now?
Ymir laughed again quietly and you snapped. “Maybe worry about the guy flirting with Christa and your refusal to deal with your own feelings right now instead of pretending you know anything about me.”
Her eyes snapped in Christa’s direction and took in the Scout riding alongside her, making her laugh. “I don’t know what you’re talking about but yes, I’m going to go save my friend from getting harassed by some loser while you stay over here in denial.” Ymir moved in Christa’s direction, and you watched, almost impressed, as she managed to scare away the poor Scout within seconds.
Sure, you were definitely the one in denial.
-------------
Reiner fought to unclench his jaw and listen to whatever Bert and Connie were chatting about. He didn’t understand why you kept trying to get Jean to talk to you. He’d been nothing but nasty to you for weeks and it pissed Reiner off to watch, as ironic as that was.
Why couldn’t you just leave Jean alone? Why did you even want to talk to him when he treated you that way? Maybe you had feelings for him and honestly didn’t realize Jean felt the same way? Maybe you didn’t even realize you had them? How long until you figured it out and stopped letting Reiner anywhere near you? Actually, who even cared if you stopped letting Reiner into your room at night? He certainly didn’t. Last time was the last time anyway so it didn’t even matter anyway. Jean just didn’t deserve you, that was all.
Your eyes met his own suddenly and, for just a second, he forgot to breathe. He hadn’t even realized he’d been staring at you. Was still staring at you. You broke eye contact first, facing forwards and looking straight ahead.
“When you finally master setting people on fire with your glare, she’s really gonna be in trouble.” Connie’s voice finally broke through Reiner’s thoughts and he looked around quickly to find both him and Bert staring.
“Honestly, it’s been kind of quiet around here for a few weeks so I guess it was only a matter of time for one of your fights. Might even break the tension between her and Jean.” Bert joked.
Connie laughed. “If only. That’s all been exhausting. I love Jean but I can only take so much whining. It’s his own fault, he never made a move.”
Reiner thought of Jean coming out of your room that night and his jaw clenched again. Maybe sober Jean had never made a move but he certainly had drunk. Would that night have ended differently if Jean had come to you sober?
“Though, I’m looking forward to us all finding out who she slept with. That would liven things up. Who do you think it was?” Connie asked, interrupting Reiner’s thoughts.
“I don’t know,” Bertolt admitted, actually sounding curious. “ I don’t actually know her that well. What do you think, Reiner?”
Reiner struggled to keep his face neutral as his heart pounded in his ears “Why would I know that? Why does anyone even care?”
“Because it’s juicy, nothing interesting ever happens around here. Aren’t you curious at all?” Connie asked.
“No.” Reiner replied firmly, turning away. “She’s the last thing I want to think about.”
Notes:
Hiiii. I know it's been forever since an update. I had a small menty b and writer's block is hell. Until earlier this month when I decided to force myself into doing nanowrimo (massive fail there), I hadn't been able to write anything in over a year.
Chapter Text
Reiner fought to tear his eyes from you as you soared through the sky ahead of him but it was proving impossible. He needed to concentrate before he got himself killed but kept finding himself distracted by you.
Worse than that, lately when he could tear his attention from your frame, his mind was full of thoughts of you underneath him. Of your skin on his. Though right now it was being invaded by memories of your last mission together and the knowledge that you could die today. The odds were always against a Scout after all.
You turned your head and tossed him a smile before turning down a side street and disappearing from his line of sight.
His chest tightened and he rushed to follow you but when he rounded the corner, the street was empty. He swallowed down his panic and turned down the next street, almost colliding with a titan and having to maneuver out of its way quickly. Panic returned swiftly when he saw the anchors of some ODM gear in the wall right next to the tighten, the cords fluttering in the wind, attached to nothing.
Reiner ducked the titan hand grabbing for him as his thoughts raced. There was no way that was your ODM gear. There was no way this titan out of all the titans you’d faced had gotten you. But what if it had? What if his thoughts would stop for two seconds so he could *think*.
Movement out of the corner of his eye had Reiner turning to find a second titan heading right for him. His eyes widened and he dodged the first again. He needed to get it together. He knew he needed to focus on the titans but that broken ODM gear kept drawing his attention.
“Reiner!” You appeared behind the closest titan and took it out. “What are you doing?”
He snapped out of his thoughts and jumped into action, quickly killing the second titan. Relief had completely flooded him at the sight of you and all he wanted now was to grab you and kiss you. Luck was on his side though because before he could act on that ridiculous thought, Bertolt appeared behind you.
“We're done here, the Captain called everyone back.”
You met Reiner’s eyes again, and titled your head, seeming to ask if he was okay. He drew a shaky breath and tore his eyes from your face, following Bertolt and not letting himself look back.
xxxxxxxx
Reiner was being weird again. The journey back to base had taken a week and he hadn't looked your way once. He barely talked even to Bertolt, just rode his horse, staring straight ahead. Every time you got close, though, you could see the tension in his shoulders and his knuckles, white with the force of the grip he held on the reins. There couldn’t be a man alive more frustrating than him and you’d finally snapped at him, causing an argument that led to the both of you being assigned the duty of unsaddling the horses and unloading the wagons while everyone else bathed and rested.
You’d been working together in silence and were seriously considering chucking the bag you were holding at his head. You went to move past him but a choked sound left Reiner’s throat when you brushed up against him. You froze and turned to find him red faced and determinedly avoiding looking your way.
“Everything okay there, Reiner?” You asked, fighting a smirk. He didn’t answer so you decided the next thing you needed to get off the wagon was right in front of him. You slid in between him and the wagon, leaning forwards to grab the farthest bag you could reach and your smirk widened into a grin when he let out a tortured groan. You grabbed the bag and tossed it into a pile before reaching for another, feeling him begin to harden in his pants.
“Come on!” He complained when you did it again and you looked at him over your shoulder.
“Come on what?” You asked, widening your eyes and feigning innocence.
Reiner practically growled, reaching out and grabbing your hips to hold you still before you could rub against him again. He was pressed against you, however, and you could feel his hardness digging into you. He didn’t move away but he didn’t release you either. Testing the waters you leaned back and he let you, going so far as to pull you closer to him.You swallowed hard as the urge to drop your pants here and now filled you. You weren’t alone. Reiner may have hated you but he couldn’t deny his attraction when you could feel it’s evidence. His right hand left your hip and traveled up your body, skimming your breast, then your throat before coming to cup your face. His thumb traced your bottom lip and goosebumps broke out along your arm. He angled your face so he could look into your eyes and you began to ache as he lowered his mouth to yours.
A sound behind you made you leap apart and you turned to see Captain Levi turning the corner into the stables. The man took in both yours and Reiner’s guilty expressions before letting out a breath of annoyance.
He turned without a word and walked back out through the open door but you distinctly heard him murmur “you have got to be kidding me” before he was completely out of earshot.
You winced and turned to look at Reiner. He was staring after the Captain, with a horrified expression that you knew meant he was going to go right back to being weird.
“Great.” He said sarcastically, glaring at you. “That’s just great, thanks for that. All you do, is cause me problems.”
“Sure, because that was all my fault.” You rolled your eyes, waiting for his next snarky comment but it didn’t come. Reiner had turned from you completely and gone back to unloading the wagon.
Chapter Text
You were going to be the death of him. Reiner was more than aware that he’d had this thought about you more times than he could count but it seemed more of a possibility tonight than it ever had. It had been a week since you’d spoken and he’d been regretting how he’d acted pretty much every moment since that day. His thoughts were consumed with the idea of just grabbing you and fucking you against whatever surface was available. Well, usually they were. Right now they were consumed with the idea of breaking a man’s hands and then fucking you against whatever surface was available. Maybe while the man watched.
The Scouts were in the city and enjoying a night of freedom at one of the bars. It was supposed to be a rare moment to relax but was having the opposite effect on him. You’d been laughing with a member of the Garrison a little harder than Reiner liked and as the night wore on, he’d gotten more and more touchy, until Reiner was gripping his glass so hard it hurt.
The man’s hand dropped a little further down your waist and Reiner found himself standing before he realized he’d moved. Bert and Connie were looking up at him with startled expressions, whereas Jean was too busy glaring in your direction to have even noticed Reiner get up.
“Bathroom” is the only excuse Reiner could come up with so he moved in that direction, passing close enough to the bar he could knock his hip against you on the way. He smirked as you stumbled away from the man and caught yourself on the bar next to you. The heat of your glare turned his smirk into a full smile.
When he came out of the restroom, you were leaning against the wall, arms crossed.
“Really?” You asked, eyebrows raised.
“What?” He asked innocently.
“You completely ignore me for a week and the moment I’m enjoying someone else’s company, you’re back to being a dick?”
“Enjoying someone else’s company?” Reiner sneered. “What does that even mean?”
“It means I was having a good time!”
“Wellll by all means don’t let me stop you.” Reiner gestured towards the door.
“Fine” you snapped, turning to walk away as a thought occurred to Reiner.
He reached out and grabbed your hand, stopping you in your tracks. “Actually, if you were having such a good time, why are you in this little hallway with me instead of still out there?” He couldn’t fight his smile as you avoided his eyes and tried to pull your hand back. He just used the momentum to step closer to you, still holding your hand.
“Reiner, you don’t get to do this. I am over these little mind games you’ve been playing.” You were still refusing to meet his eyes so he stepped even closer.
“Mind games?”
“Yes! Mind games! You hate me, you want me, but no that was a mistake, but actually yes you do want me, no wait you’re going to pretend I don’t exist right up until another man shows interest again. Obviously this is just something you’ve cooked up to drive me crazy. I guess being awful to me over the last couple of years had gotten boring, I don’t know. I can’t pretend to understand you.”
He stepped forwards again and you stepped back, hitting the wall behind you. The alcohol must have been clouding his judgment because this was the perfect opportunity to say you were right and let you go. Forever. Except-
“I have always wanted you. Even when I didn’t want to.” He whispers it. His second biggest secret, this one kept even from himself for so long through a constant stream of denial. “And I don’t know how to handle it. You drive me crazy. ”
You blink at him, shock written all over your face. You obviously weren’t expecting that and Reiner had to congratulate himself on having been a better actor than he thought he had.
“That doesn’t make any sense.” You finally said, shaking your head.
“No shit” Reiner laughed and stopped when he heard glass breaking and shouting coming from the bar beyond the little hallway.
“That sounds like Jean.” You said as Reiner broke away and you both went to see what was happening.
It was Jean. He and the Garrison officer you’d been talking to earlier had come to blows as Connie cheered him on. Jean ducked under a swinging fist and caught the other man in the chin with one of his own. One of the man’s friends moved to jump in from behind and Reiner sighed in annoyance, before going to Jean’s rescue.
He threw a punch at the friend, knocking him out cold and was quickly barreled into by a third man. They both hit the floor with a thud but by then Jean had dealt with the handy guy (who's fault this all was if you asked Reiner) and pulled him off of Reiner. That guy, seeing both his friends on the ground, held his hands up in surrender and went to check on them.
Reiner wiped the blood off his mouth and turned back to where he'd left you standing. You were gone.
xx
You strode down the street in the direction of the Scout’s temporary quarters fuming. Feet thudding behind you alerted you to Reiner jogging to catch up with you and you let out an annoyed sigh.
“All of the men in my life are insufferable” you snapped at him before he could say a word. He fell into step beside you, easily matching your strides.
“So what you're saying is I'm a man in your life?” He smiled at you and you realized he was a little drunk. You should have realized that back in the hallway. “Wait, are you also saying Jean is a man in your life?”
“All of you morons I have to put up with every day are in my life, it doesn't mean I'm happy about every one of you.” You rolled your eyes, thoroughly pissed off. Neither Jean or Reiner had been speaking to you but they were both more than happy to fist fight the first man who did. Drama queens, both of them.
“I’m one of the ones you're happy about though, right?” Reiner turned around so that he was walking backwards in front of you.
“Not right now.” You glared.
He stopped suddenly causing you to run into his chest. His hands wrapped around your arms steadying you and you sucked in a sharp breath at his proximity.
“I don’t always mean to do it, you know.” He looked off into the night, avoiding your eyes. “Act the way I do.”
“You say that but nothing will be different tomorrow so it doesn’t mean anything.” You step away from him and he lets you reluctantly, hands falling to his sides. “Goodnight, Reiner.” You say softly and leave him standing there, watching you go.
Chapter Text
You were so weak. You’d successfully ignored Reiner for about five days but now you could not look away from him doing stretches. How did he make just a part of your morning Cadet training look so good? He was face down with one leg bent to his chest and the other stretched out behind him. Your mouth went dry when he pressed forwards with his hips and you immediately imagined you were on the ground beneath him. His skin pressed up against yours and his wonderful mouth- a sharp pain in your side broke through your fantasies and you turned to glare at Ymir.
“You’ve got a little drool there.” She indicated her mouth and your hand jerked up to check. You were not drooling.
“You’re so annoying.”
“Am I? Guess you’ll be drooling over me next because I’ve heard you say that before.” Ymir’s eyes moved to Reiner pointedly and you felt your cheeks begin to heat.
“Don’t know what you mean.” You said with forced casualty. You dropped to the ground to work on your own stretches and maybe mostly to avoid continuing that conversation. Thankfully Ymir let it drop, already bored with teasing you.
You glanced back over at Reiner and found his eyes on you. He didn’t look away when you caught him staring but smiled at you instead. The heat in your cheeks grew and you turned back around to concentrate on what you were doing.
A few seconds later Reiner dropped to the ground beside you. “So are you done pretending I don’t exist or is staring from afar your only exception?”
He was still smiling at you which was kind of freaking you out. You didn’t answer him, moving into a different stretch.
“Still pretending, got it. How long do you think this is going to go on, do you think?” he waited and when you didn’t answer nodded. “I see. About two more minutes, you said? I can probably live with that.”
You held back your eyeroll, not wanting to give him the satisfaction.
“I hear you loud and clear. Listen, I figured the Garrison didn’t need something else they could brag about, but next time Jean is getting his ass beat, I’ll just let it happen.. Actually, do you want me to go knock him out now? I didn’t realize you’d get so mad I went to save him.”
“Are you actually this stupid? I’m not mad about the stupid bar fight, I’m mad because…” You trailed off when you realized his smile had turned triumphant. “Damnit.” You said, blowing out a breath of annoyance.
“Two minutes exactly.” He pointed out.
“I’m mad” you continued “because every time you get freaked out about something or annoyed about something you completely shut me out. At least until I stop giving you attention and then you’re back in my face and it’s extremely confusing. You hate me, then you want me, then you hate that you want me, then you pretend I don’t exist, then you’re jealous so now you have to make sure I still want you.”
“I am not jealous.”
“Oh please. You were so jealous.” You said. “You hadn’t spoken to me at all, for no reason as far as I can tell, and as soon as I was doing a little flirting, you were in my face.”
Reiner sighed and let himself fall back until he was laying down. “I don’t know what I’m doing. I’m attracted to you, obviously, and it’s not been easy to admit that even to myself. I’ve tried to stop and it works for a little but until I just find myself right next to you again.”
“Why does it matter if we’re attracted to each other though? Why does it bother you?”
“There’s a whole rule against fraternizing.” He pointed out but it felt a little hollow.
“A rule, literally no one follows or cares about as long as we’re quiet about it and do our jobs.” You point out then let yourself fall back on the ground beside him, making sure to leave plenty of space between you.
“But it’s there for a reason,” he said quietly. “Our lives aren’t easy and people hooking up can get messy. Any of us could die at any time. You yourself have almost been eaten by a titan twice in the last couple of months.”
“Yeah but that’s why the rule is dumb.” You rolled over onto your elbow so you could look at him. “When you can die at any moment, it feels even more important to really live while we’re here.”
Reiner was quiet for a few seconds before he too rolled over onto his elbow and met your eyes. “It’s dangerous though. I froze with that last titan because my head wasn’t in it. What you’re saying makes sense, but it feels like I’m going to have regrets no matter what happens. At the end of the day, there is nothing more important to me than protecting my home and my family and I can’t be distracted from that.”
His steely determination was admirable. It struck you suddenly how rarely you and Reiner had an actual conversation like this. One that wasn’t all argument or flirtation. Just two people genuinely trying to understand each other and you felt like you did actually understand him more. You’d seen the man naked but never really talked to him.
“But” he continued “that doesn’t stop me from wanting certain-” he broke off suddenly as a shadow fell across you.
You looked up to find Captain Levi glaring down at the both of you, arms crossed. “This doesn’t look like sparring.”
“We’re stretching, Captain.” You smiled brightly up at him. “Really preparing our bodies for this session. Honing our muscles and what not.”
Levi closed his eyes and pressed the bridge of his nose with two fingers, taking a deep breath to calm himself. “Please tell me you’re at least arguing. I never thought the day would come where I’m hoping to break up one of your fights but here we are.”
You and Reiner looked at each other guiltily and Levi sighed. “Laps. Now”
“But we were just about to spar!” You pouted.
“Laps. Both of you. Now!” He snapped, rubbing the bridge of his nose again.
You groaned and climbed to your feet, wishing you had actually put some effort into stretching. Reiner took off at a jog and you followed behind him, realizing that you’d at least have a great view until the Captain let you stop running.
Hours later, after more laps than you bothered to count, the Captain finally let you both go. Everyone else was at dinner but you skipped it, following Reiner straight to the showers where you both immediately forgot how tired you were…
Chapter Text
It had been two weeks since you’d seen Reiner and you could not wait to have him back between your thighs. You’d let yourself get a little too used to having him there the previous months so when you were sent on separate missions, it made you a little crazy. You'd never admit that to him, though. He still had moments where he'd completely shut down and you could tell he was fighting some internal war you didn't understand but he hadn't completely pushed you away in quite some time.
Your team had gotten back to the castle the night before and his was due back this morning so you were scrubbing dishes as fast as you could, hoping to finish up with dish duty quickly and have a few hours of free time to drag him back to your bed. You pushed those thoughts out of your head before you got too distracted and got back to work.
You were concentrating on getting a particularly dirty plate clean when two large arms wrapped around you and you were pulled back against a broad chest.
Reiner! You dropped the plate in the sink and turned in his arms, not remembering that you were in the kitchen and anyone could walk right in. He was obviously in the same boat because he brought his face to yours and caught your mouth in a searing kiss. His tongue stroked your own and when he lifted you onto the counter, you wrapped your legs around him, pulling him closer.
His mouth left yours and found your neck, he pushed the collar of your shirt to the side and kissed his way down your throat, occasionally giving your skin small bites that made you moan out loud.
Remembering where you were, you tried to pull back. “Reiner, we’re in the middle of the kitchen, we have to stop.”
He pulled away reluctantly. “Let’s go upstairs then.”
“I’ll be done in like fifteen minutes and we can go to my room.”
He let out a groan. “I can’t wait that long, I need you now.” He looked over at the small closet we used to store brooms and his mouth twisted into a devious smirk, looking back at you meaningfully.
Screw it. You hopped down from the counter and practically drug him into the closet. He pulled the door shut behind him then spun you so your back was pressed against it. He returned to what he’d been doing to your neck while his hands worked to undo your pants. He pushed them down and you hurriedly kicked them off.
The first brush of his fingers against your clit stole your breath. He muttered something about how wet you were and then his fingers were in you, stretching you open. He pumped his fingers in and out until you were shaking then kissed you to swallow your moans.
You heard his own pants hit the ground seconds before he pulled your leg up his hip and you felt him at your entrance. He let out a low hiss as he pushed into you slowly and stopped, letting you adjust.
“I missed this.” He admitted, so quietly you almost thought you'd imagined it, then he pulled almost all of the way out of you and thrust back in.
You’d missed it too. More than you were comfortable missing anything. You cried out when he thrust again, hitting deep inside you and he shushed you seconds before letting out his own low groan that made you clench around him. The sound of Reiner Braun losing control was your favorite song. If you had to pick one thing you could hear for the rest of your life it would be him moaning in your ear or crying out your name the way he did sometimes when your mouth was wrapped around his cock and you had him at your mercy.
He wrapped your other leg around his waist so that the only thing holding you up was him and the change in angle meant he was going so much deeper. His thrusts got shorter and shorter until he was practically grinding into you and when his fingers found your clit again, you came undone. Your fingers dug into his shoulders as you clenched around him and he fucked you through your orgasm, not changing his pace until you were finished. His hips stuttered and you knew he was close. He kissed you again and his hand dug into your ass, as he pulled you to him over and over until-
You landed on the floor of the kitchen with Reiner still on top of you. He cursed, arms slamming down on either side of you, stopping himself from crushing you with his full weight. You looked up, panicking, to find Connie grinning down at you both, his hand still on the closet’s door knob.
“Holy crap.” Sasha said from across the room and you looked over to find her staring in shock. “Holy crap!” she repeated louder, pointing.
“Turn around!” Reiner snapped at Connie who did so snickering. Reiner got to his feet, pulling up his pants, then drug you to your feet and grabbed yours. “Connie, as soon as we’re dressed, I’m going to actually murder you.”
You struggled to put your pants on, face burning from embarrassment and panic racing through your chest.
“I didn’t know it was going to be you! I never would have thought you'd be freak enough to do it in a closet, we've been back like ten minutes. I freaking knew you had a thing for her though! That hatred act was so overplayed.” Connie’s shoulders were shaking with his laughter. “Bert! Man, you won’t believe this.”
You felt Reiner tense beside you and turned to see Bertholdt standing in the doorway. His eyes were flicking back and forth from you to Reiner and he looked a little sick.
“What’s going on?” He asked.
“They were in the broom closet? Can you believe that?” Connie turned to you. “How long have y’all been together? There’s no way this is the first time.”
“We're not together.” Reiner’s voice was cold enough to give you chills.
Bertholdt had turned and walked back out without another word, apparently not wanting to be a part of Connie’s mayhem.
“Wait until Jean finds out the man he’s been so jealous of is Reiner he is going to lose his shit!”
“Connie, how about just keeping your mouth shut.” You snapped, tucking your shirt back into your pants.
“Ha!” Was his only response, then he was gone, pulling a still shocked Sasha out behind him.
