Work Text:
Final exams were right around the corner and Katie felt like her head was going to explode. The words of the textbook blurred together. A small pile of snacks and energy drinks were next to them.
And this was the third time in the past half hour or so that Travis had needed to nudge her back to focus. God, she was going to fail. She was going to fail and then she'll never get to go looking for cryptids.
"You can take a break," he whispered to her. "It might help."
She shook her head. "I'll still be tired then."
"Then take a short nap. I'll make sure you don't sleep too long. You can lean against me."
Katie glanced around at the other people in the library. Travis was her friend, her best friend in fact. But that's not what other people would see.
"Don't mind them," he said with quiet confidence. "Just do what helps."
After a few seconds' thought, she rested her head against his shoulder, shifting until she found a more comfortable position.
Just a brief rest, then back to studying.
