Chapter Text

It all started with an innocent question , Wei Wuxian never really thought his secret would be out so easily . He really didn't give it much thought when Nie Huaisang joined the war meetings with me his brother, he never really thought someone would notice the lack of his golden core he thought he hid it too well , masking it with his seeming arrogance , so he really didn't expect that innocent question of his childhood best friend would caught him off guard

It happened during the discussion that arrogant Jin zixun was barking at him about the lack of his sword

" Wei Wuxian where is your sword, how dare you abandon your sword and pick up the crooked path " Jin zixun sneered while Jiang Cheng is glaring daggers at him

Wei Wuxian was about to reply that he doesn't need it but Nie Huaisang beat him to it

" Wei-xiong you really love your sword and you are so strong, I can't believe it that you of all people abandon it , did something happen to your core " he asked sheepishly

Blood drained from Wei Wuxian's face while the other sect leaders frowned ;thinking , it's Jiang Cheng who confronted him

" Wei Wuxian tell me what happened? " He almost screamed with anger , how dare his brother hide something like that from him

" Jiang Cheng what are you talking about" he tried to move away from them slowly thinking about ways to escape…

Jiang Cheng's anger flared and grabbed his wrist, Wei Wuxian was struggling to break the hold but in vain , the Jiang sect leader frowned his brother is clearly more stronger than him but seeing him struggling with something so easy only added to his suspension

The other sect leaders don't know what to make of the situation so they watched the siblings as the realisation dawned in

" Wei Wuxian what happened, tell me " Jiang Cheng shouted but Wei Wuxian didn't reply only doubling his efforts to break the hold but failing miserably due to his lack of spiritual strength

As his last resort Jiang Cheng passed his spiritual energy into his brother's meridians only for his eyes to widen as the realisation hit him

Wei Wuxian understand what his brother was doing and tried to stop him but in vain

" Jiang Cheng stop.....stop ... please " he pleaded and shouted but the look in his brother's face told him that's the damage was already done

Without any resistance Wei Wuxian's body readily took the energy as if it's own but as he followed the flow there is nothing….. literally nothing

Blood drained from Jiang Cheng's face as he understood how he got his core back

" NO...NO..... NOOOOO"

" Why ......WHY???" he shouted

" Why Wei Wuxian, why did you give me your core,I don't want it;WHY.....WHY???" He shouted without caring about the other sect leaders who were too shocked even to move

"Jiang Cheng what are you talking about ; it's not possible " he tried to lie again

" Then where is your golden core "

Wei Wuxian didn't answer because he can't and that's all Jiang Cheng needed for confirmation

Jiang Cheng collapsed onto the ground just as Wei Wuxian as he let go of his hand

The others present in the meeting were bewildered ,Wei Wuxian gave his golden core to his brother, but how is that even possible??

' Wei Ying ' they heard his low murmur from Hanguang-Jun

" Why did you do it, Wei Wuxian, just WHY??? "

Wei Wuxian sighed ,defeated the only secret he wanted to take to his grave was open to the world , what's the point in hiding anymore

" Then what do you want me to do , you were dying Jiang Cheng " he snapped, irritated

" So you just gave me your core , and it's all a lie isn't it , about Boshan sanren "

Wei Wuxian didn't answer

" Then what about you falling into the burial mounds " it's Nie Huaisang who asked the question, hiding behind his fan

Wei Wuxian glared at him now , while the sect leaders reached the conclusion to their absolute horror . If Wei Wuxian gave his golden core to his brother then getting caught by the Wen's is only a matter of time and with how Wen chao bragged about throwing him into burial mounds it's too easy to connect the dots

" Wei Ying " Lan wangji said softly with a tear rolling down his cheek

" Wei Wuxian " Jiang Cheng screamed, horror absolutely written all over his face

Wei Wuxian averted his gaze not meeting their eyes

It's Lan Xichen who came forward and knelt besides wei Wuxian and his brother

" Wei-gongzi please let me check your health" he asked gently , he was concerned about him especially because of his brother ;a cultivator using resentful energy will cause harm to their body but what will happen to a normal person without a golden core to mitigate the damage

Wei Wuxian flinched as he touched him and curling to be as small as possible, it further confirmed his suspension , from what he has learned the past hour is that Wei Wuxian has high tenacity to hide his hurts and weaknesses ,and he gained a newfound respect for the demonic cultivator, even he with such a great love for his brother can't imagine giving up his core to him

It's Jiang Cheng who grabbed his brother and held him in please

" Jiang Cheng let me go "

" Wei Wuxian just let him check on you"

" Wei Ying please " Lan zhan pleaded

Wei Wuxian just stayed their unmoving his face devoid of any expression as Lan Xichen took his wrist to check his injures , he was strong cultivator and a capable healer so he was able to look past the resentful energy ; he gasped, too stunned to answer the questions asked to him while Wei Wuxian looked defeated sat their unmoving

" Wei-gongzi you can't be moving around in your condition , let's... just go to the healer's tent ... " He said shuttering while Wei Wuxian just stayed like a statue unmoving and not responding

" What happened to him, please tell me " Jiang sect leader pleaded

" Xiong Zhong " his brother also pleaded .so he explained the state of his body, about how he is using the resentment to hold the broken bones together and the extent of internal damage he suffered due to the fall and with each word spilled out of his mouth their faces grew more and more concerned while Wei Wuxian just wanted to hide somewhere and escape from there , he never wanted anyone to know the extent of his injuries and now all his secrets layed bare to the world to see ,so he didn't look at anyone and let himself be guided to the healers tent like a doll

The healers checked his condition and forced him to drink a sedative to let him sleep,he can vaguely see lan zhan holding his hand as he slowly drifted into unconsciousness

Jiang Cheng doesn't know what to make of it. In just a hour he learnt that his brother sacrificed his core for him and was thrown into the burial mounds of all places and he is not in good state ; he blamed himself for it , he was angry ofcourse he screamed and cried not caring about anything while his sister held him and comforted him even without knowing anything , how can he tell her that he was the reason why all this happened .because of his stupid pride and when he did told her, she cried for all the suffering her brother had gone through for her another brother. It was only the next day he was sane enough to attend the meeting

The rumours circulated in the whole camp about the golden core transfer , which was thought to be impossible and Wei Wuxian being thrown into the burial mounds only added fuel to the fire

These things doesn't matter to Lan Wangji all that mattered to him is the well being of his beloved,his heart sank when he heard about the sacrifice Wei Ying made and he vowed to never leave his side after he learnt what he has gone through just to survive and would give up his core if it means he could cure Wei Ying so he never left his side all the night and only joined the meeting because of his brother persuasion just so that he can learn more of what happened to Wei Wuxian.

The discussion hall was full with most of the sect leaders were present, after what happened yesterday there were rumours circulating and they wanted an explanation

Jiang Wanyin entered the room looking pale ,he almost looked like a ghost and all the eyes were focused on him as he is the main topic of the gossips, usually things like this were kept quiet but with all the screaming and sect leaders like leader Yao it was impossible to keep quiet

" Sect leader Jiang can you please explain the yesterday's events, it was pretty confusing for us " the Yao sect leader asked too curious for his own good

" What's there to explain haven't you heard it all , my stupid,moron brother gave me his core and lied to me " he said eyes flaring in an uncontrollable rage

" But that's not possible,"

" The only person who follow the Jiang motto is Wei Wuxian " he bit out

"Can you please explain clearly, how did you lose your core and how on earth is it possible, a core transfer??? "

Keeping his anger in check ,he explained. How the Wen siblings helped them and about the story Wei Wuxian said about Boshan sanren and that's when he doubted himself, Wei Wuxian doesn't even remember his parents how on earth does he know about the Immortals location and after he recalled the familiar voice it sank in

"Wen Qing" he bit out

" Wei Qing" echoed

"Sect leader Jiang , you think it's Wen Qing who did it " Lan Xichen asked and it suddenly made scene,she is the greatest doctor of the generation and golden core genius if anyone can do it it's her

" I want to get Wen Qing here " Jiang Cheng asked bowing to the sect leaders

" Why do you want to get Wen-dogs here "

" Wen Qing is the one who performed the golden core transfer, so she knows how to help my brother and we have a debt to them " he finished ; he said it despite his own anger,his brother well being comes first and if it meant allowing a Wen then he would do it and Lan sect leader immediately agreed and to his utter surprise Nie mingjue also agreed

" If she really helped you then there is no reason for me to object but she will be under supervision until she deemed safe and also I wish to help Wei Wuxian ,he has done a noble sacrifice and joined the war efforts even he was severely injured, I.... truly admire him "

With the leader of the campaign agreeing to his request there is no room for further arguments so Lan, Jiang and Nie disciples were dispatched in search of the Wen doctor.......

Wei Wuxian woke up cosy and warm,it felt so good as he hadn't slept soundly in months so he felt good somehow and the aches in his body has lessened

He opened his eyes and saw his shijie looking at him with worried eyes

" A-xian you are awake, how are you feeling" she asked will red rimmed eyes

Wei Wuxian shot up immediately

" I'm fine shijie " he said automatically

Her gaze turned hard "A-xian " her voice was stern , something she used when he and Jiang Cheng fought

" You shouldn't be moving too much " she exclaimed, he blinked what's wrong with him anyway and as he remembered yesterday's events his blood grew cold and he suddenly turned away,he can't bare it now facing her concern and pity,he doesn't want it

" A-xian please look at me " his shijie pleaded ,she almost sounded like she was about to cry

" Shijie , please I want to be alone " he said without looking at her , he needed some time to gather his thoughts and maybe everything will go back to normal,if Jiang Cheng hadn't kicked him out for lying and maybe he can fight like he was doing all the times with his demonic cultivation .he still can fight and he can still be useful. So he turned away on the bed so that he doesn't have to face her and somehow she understood and left

The next time he woke up he wasn't alone, Lan zhan is with him and looking concerned, he never saw Lan zhan showing this much emotion before

" Wei Ying" he called

" Lan zhan" he acknowledged

There is silence " you must be happy, now that you got the answer, I won't be living long , so don't worry just bare with me till the war ends and you will never see me " Wei Wuxian said sarcastically

" Wei Ying " he shouted scandalised

" What Lan Wangji, what do you want now , I said I will be dead in no time, a few years won't matter for you and maybe I can come to gusu to submitted to the punishment , you should be satisfied now "

A stream of tears started falling off
Lan zhan 's face and Wei Wuxian panicked,he only saw him cry only once when his father died

" Lan zhan why are you crying, don't cry please " he asked with an assuring smile like he isn't the one who gave his golden core like it's nothing, like he isn't the one who was thrown into the burial mounds , Lan Wangji couldn't just stop crying and Wei Wuxian was at loss

" I don't want to punish Wei Ying , worried about Wei Ying " he said , his voice betraying

" You were worried" Wei ying asked surprised

" Mn"

" But you hate me Lan zhan , how can you be worried, you hate demonic cultivation"

" Never hated Wei ying ,just worried . Demonic cultivation is harmful " he said

Wei Wuxian was shocked Lan zhan said he never hated him , only worried but it doesn't make any sense but it's a kind of like a big weight lifted from his heart,just as he was about to smile,it vanished with
Lan zhan's next words

" Love Wei Ying"

Wei Wuxian was too stunned to even think properly but after a moment of tense silence he realised that his strange attraction to the said man was love and he can't bare the thought of Lan zhan loving him now after what happened, he is broken now, beyond repair and he doesn't deserve his love, Lan zhan deserves the best and now he can't bare to look at him

" Leave" he said softly

" Please go away" he said a little louder now

" Wei Ying, please let me help you" Lan Wangji pleaded

" I want to be alone" was Wei Wuxian's request,so Lan Wangji complied leaving him alone as he wished but he didn't gave up

Wei Ying never left the room after the incident with the sect leaders, he barely spoke to anyone except his sister, even with her he always avoided the particular topic about his core and burial mounds but at least he was talking his medicines though he never let the healers touch him and he only ate when his sister begged him too and Jiang Wanyin was simply another matter he never spoke with his adopted brother and with the rumours circulating his temper flared every time he heard any whispers regarding him or his brother

Lan Wangji visited Wei Wuxian's everyday after the incident , Wei Ying always throw him out for the first few days but Lan Wangji was anything but stubborn and all he requested was to help him and let him play a few healing songs and eventually Wei Wuxian gave up and simply ignored him now he would turn away on his bed when he entered his tent and remain quiet all the time Lan zhan was present and when he played,it went on for a week and he eventually started facing him and would respond now a little and after 16 days after Lan Wangji confessed to Wei Wuxian he finally spoke with him

" I don't deserve you, Lan zhan I'm broken and beyond repair, let go please " he said with tears rolling down his cheek

" Wei Ying is Wei Ying , not broken just hurt ,he is kind, selfless and good , I'm the one who doesn't deserve him "

Wei Wuxian was trembling now and refused to look at Lan Wangji now. " I'm broken, I don't have a core , I'm not the person you love " he argued

" Wei Ying is Wei Ying " he said making Wei Wuxian look at him in the eye , Lan Wangji saw hope, love and fear in his beloved eyes

" Lan zhan " he mumbled uncertain of what to say, how to convince him that he is not worth it and that's all Lan Wangji needed to close the distance between them and kissed his beloved,who seemed to be shocked at first but relaxed and reciprocated with his hands grabbing Lan Wangji's clothes like it's a lifeline and Lan zhan cupped wei ying's cheek and tilting his head to gain better access

Wei Wuxian gasped when he felt Lan zhan's tongue licked on his lips and when he parted them Lan zhan immediately took the chance to taste Wei Ying's mouth and kissed him like his life depended on it, when they broke apart Lan zhan could never forget the view, Wei Ying was so beautiful with swollen lips and blushed cheeks,
Lan zhan smiled at him

All the uncertainty was gone and all Wei Wuxian wanted was to stay with his beloved and love him . He still felt inferior due to the loss of his core and his broken body but Lan zhan assured him that he is not broken, there is still a chance he can heal and finally he gave up protesting there is no use anyway, during these days what Wei Ying learn about Lan zhan that he is not only loves him so much but he is incredibly stubborn
The night approached as the kept talking with each other and Lan Wangji didn't want to leave, as he was thinking about an excuse to stay a little longer he felt Wei Ying tugging his sleeve

" Can you stay " Wei Ying asked,his voice was so small and scared

" Mn " he agreed with a kiss on Wei Wuxian's forehand and somehow
Wei Wuxian took the opportunity to use him as a human pillow , he wouldn't mind though. " so warm " he mumbled, tucking himself close to Lan Wangji and he can vaguely hear " you are not going to get rid of me Lan zhan "

" Mn " he agreed with another kiss and Wei Ying drifted to sleep

It was so comforting to see Wei Ying sleep so comfortably beside ( partly on top of him ) and with the stress he had gone through the past few months, Lan zhan was sure that tonight was the night he slept so peacefully of all the nights

He was so focused on cherishing the moment that he didn't notice Jiang yanli was smiling at the scene in front of her and he felt embarrassed,he was grateful as she didn't say anything and she seems to be content in seeing Wei Ying's smiling face as he slept

She bowed to him and he acknowledged her with a nod because it's impossible for him to get up without waking his beloved,she smiled at him ,her eyes sparkling

" Make him eat the soup and medicine, he didn't ate lunch , no one else will come" she whispered and he nodded and she left, satisfied

Looking at the steaming Bowl of soup he sighed he didn't want to wake Wei Ying but he should eat, he was too thin. Lan Wangji took a mental note to feed Wei Wuxian personally and gently shook Wei Ying

" Wei Ying wake up" he said gently

" Mnmnn"Wei Ying whinned

Wei Ying's sleepy protests amused Lan Wangji and instead of trying to wake him he he lifted Wei Wuxian into his lap and supported his head on his shoulder and started feeding Wei Ying and after he was done eating Lan Wangji just fed him a spoon of medicine and his eyes shot up immediately

" Bitter " he pouted not wanting to drink

" Wei Ying should take Medicine" Lan zhan insisted with a stern gaze

" Fine " he said and drank the bitter liquid in a single gulpe

" Happy " he asked

" Mn" he agreed and tucked his beloved in bed and as soon as he joined him in bed they were in which the familiar position and he started humming WangXian and after few moments Wei Ying slept

The military camp was turned upside down over the past 20 days after the disastrous reveal and both the brothers kept to themselves not meeting anyone and both Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue were worried

At first, they thought that the teen was arrogant and picked up demonic cultivation to gain more power and they needed his corpse army to win the war so they tolerated him but then they learned how selfless he is and how much he had suffered they couldn't bring themselves to hate him and somehow they felt very protective of the teenager

Nie Mingjue was ashamed about how he thought of Wei Wuxian and he was thankful that his brother asked the question then; however he did wonder how his little brother doubted when all of them just assumed , if he hadn't asked then he would have assumed the worst about him and now he couldn't even bring himself to allow the teen into the battlefield,after what Xichen told him about the boy's condition

Lan Xichen was concerned about Wei Wuxian, mostly for his brother because his was hurting and Wei Wuxian was not letting anyone in ,much less speaking with anyone except his shijie , he even rejected to let healer's check on him and he was thankful that he is at least eating and drinking medicine,over these days somehow Wangji was able to enter his tent but that's all they wouldn't speak, it's better at least he is not actively rejecting his brother

Lan Xichen was lost in thoughts when he heard giggles from Wei Wuxian's tent which is odd because Wei Wuxian became silent and Moody and never spoke to anyone after the incident and tended to keep to himself but now his voice seemed happy,he couldn't keep himself from peaking because he heard his brother's voice coming from the said tent

He couldn't believe what he was seeing, Wei Wuxian was lying on Wangji's lap and smiling at him and said something which made his brother smile and kiss him on Wei Wuxian's forehead and Wei Wuxian giggled happily , now Lan Xichen's mind was racing too much, they got together, his brother's feeling were reciprocated, his brother seems so happy now and he wanted the happiness to remain, even if it meant going against the his sect and elders he would do it and his future brother-in-law's health was his main concern now , he genuinely wished the Wen doctor will be found soon, he would give anything even sanctuary to her if she can help him

As he was thinking a disciple came to him and informed him that his uncle came,he frowned. Why did his uncle come all of the sudden? , Did something happen,he sighed he will know anyway once he meets with his uncle

His uncle was waiting in one of the discussion tents (currently empty)

" Shufu" he bowed

"Xichen" Lan qiren acknowledged

" Why did you come all of the sudden, uncle" he questioned politely

" I heard strange rumours about the camp and that Wei Wuxian " Lan qiren didn't hide the hate in his voice

" What have you heard ?" Lan Xichen asked trying hard to keep his temper in check , after the incident he and Mingjue became overly protective of Wei Wuxian

" Not much, about how he gave his core to Jiang Wanyin and was thrown into burial mounds , how ridiculous someone like him , Hump "

" And how did you came to the conclusion, isn't do not assume , don't be judgemental one of our rules,uncle aren't you the one who taught us that " he questioned with a sharp voice he never used with his uncle before

His uncle was shocked but stayed silent at the accusation and he continued

" The rumours were true, the boy you hated so much because of his mother who he never know was the most selfless and most righteous person I have ever seen " he said simply and just as his angered uncle was about to argue he continued

" Jiang Cheng's golden core was crushed by core melting hand , Wen Qing and
Wen Ning sheltered them during the fall of the lotus pier and Wei Wuxian somehow convinced Wen Qing to transfer his core into Jiang Wanyin to save his brother and he was thrown into the burial mounds by Wen Chao ,coreless and somehow survived , using the resentment to keep his broken bones together, and still using it to help us fight despite being in danger himself " he said to his astonished uncle and continued to explain the the extent of injuries

" Being righteous ment being kind in heart and do what's right , it's not the type of energy you use to achieve it , Wei Wuxian taught me that, you better chance your prejudices uncle, rules are not set in stone they change due to the circumstances and we are the ones who should decide and not a stone wall with no life, uncle . And he was going to be my brother-in-law someday and I will not let him become our mother" he finished , and waited

after the experience with Wei Wuxian ,after he felt ashamed and thought hard he discussed with his brother who was the embodiment of the sect rules ,they came to the conclusion about the rules they grew up with

" I will reflect on my behaviour " was all Lan qiren can say because, after hearing what his nephew said, accused him of being prejudiced he realised that Xichen was not wrong,he hated that boy even before he met him and after hearing how selfless that boy had been he felt a pang of guilt in his heart and about Wei Wuxian being Xichen's brother-in-law meant Wangji....

Just as he was about to confirm his suspension a disciple entered with a knock and announced

" Wen Qing was found, sect leader Nie was waiting at the east hall " he said and his nephew was already on heels after a quick bow and he went along as well , there are a lot of things he has to learn and reflect......

Lan Qiren followed his eldest nephew towards the meeting hall he was still confused by the whole ordeal never in his whole life he thought that Cangse sanren's child to be so loyal and selfless, he would go into seclusion and reflect once all of this is over .

Once they entered they saw a young woman presumably Wen Qing kneeling in front of the sect leader's with her wrist tied , but there was no fear in her eyes

As they settled, Jiang Wanyin entered looking like a ghost and she spoke eying the group

" This one wishes to know why the esteemed sect leaders asked for this one's presence"

There were murmurs about arrogant wen dog's but she paid them no mind

" Healer Wen we are under impression that you performed golden core transfer between Jiang Wanyin and Wei Wuxian" Lan Xichen asked

She tensed ,but determined as she spoke
" Yes , I'm the one who did it"

" Why?why do you have to do it???"the young sect leader screamed with grief

" You lost the will to live, and Wei Wuxian pestered me for days and even threatened to go to another doctor, I had to accept because it would have killed you both if someone else did it , though I regret doing it" she said, while her eyes accessing Jiang Cheng's physical state

" How do you know of this procedure?" Lan Qiren asked astonished by the young lady's ability

" It's a theory I wrote "

" What are the chances" a Lan elder beside Lan Qiren asked

" 50 percent , Wei Wuxian had to be awake throughout the procedure, for 2 days and 1 night" she said to everyone's horror , Jiang yanli and Jiang Cheng seemed sick

" Wei Wuxian was thrown into the burial mounds and was not well , this one asks Wen daifu's help " yanli requested through her tears and there is a flicker of guilt in Wen Qing's face but she recovered before speaking

" I will help him , but I have a request to make "she said eying them

" My family are healer's and farmers and non cultivators. I only request you to leave them alone to live a peaceful life once the war is over "

" They didn't do anything to stop
Wen Ruohan why should they be spared " a minor sect leader raged

" What can we do , they are not strong" she questioned " how can I fight him when he threatened me with my family's safety, I had to treat the man who killed my parents so that he won't kill my brother."

"All Wen's are not like Wen Ruohan ,his crimes had nothing to do with us , we never had blood on our hand's except our patients "
She finished and the crowd couldn't talk back anymore because it made sense and she was right and the minor sect leader's can't argue anymore because the major sect's agreed with her and they can't offend them

" You have my word Wen daifu , Gusu Lan will never hurt innocent and if they find themselves in danger we will provide you with a sanctuary " Lan Xichen said and same followed by Nie , Jiang and other sect leaders reluctantly agreed

She smiled

" We will provide you our services as healers if you permit " she requested Nie Mingjue

" We will think about it later but please check on Wei Wuxian, he requires help " Nie Mingjue said,he wouldn't admit it but he kind of respected her for her bravery , while Nie Huaisang was planning on how to woo her so that she may help them with their sects qi deviation

" Okay, but I would like to check on Jiang Wanyin first, I haven't checked on him since the transfer " she said

Jiang Cheng glared at her but didn't say anything, it was his stupid brother's fault but can he really blame him it was because of his volatile temper everyone knew and he didn't met Wei Wuxian till know

Wen Qing took Jiang Cheng's pulse ,her eyebrows furrowed in concentration and she muttered few curses as she left his wrist and she looked at him with concern

" What's wrong " Jiang yanli asked, concerned

Wen Qing sighed,stood before him and took a deep breath

" It's a failure" she said

" Wen daifu what do you mean " Lan Xichen asked

She looked concerned

" I said that it may not work " she muttered to herself and turned towards them

" I wrote the golden core transfer theory but there is also another theory about semi-sentent golden core's" she paused

" Very powerful golden cores are semi sentent ,they recognised their hosts"
she continued

" Wei Wuxian has a powerful core , I can confidently say he might be only one in our generation to achieve immortality apart from Hanguang-Jun. when I first checked him I didn't notice his core was partially sealed ,so we proceeded with the surgery but only later I found out his real strength, so I had to suppress more than half of the core so that it won't hurt Jiang Wanyin's body but the seal was breaking , If my theory is right it may have came into contact with Wei Wuxian and actively seeking it's host " she finished and all of them were astonished, Jiang Cheng power is almost equal to Lan Wangji,who is the strongest after Nie Mingjue and Lan Xichen, strongest of the generation but think it's only half of the Power of Wei Wuxian, little did they know that Lan Wangji grew more stronger than his brother but he didn't show it as he was never required to use his complete power

" Wen daifu you said you couldn't identify that his core was partially sealed , why ?" Lan Xichen asked

" I never thought there would be a cultivator would need to seal his true power , but the seal wes done by a strong cultivator and when asked Wei Wuxian said it's madam yu ,he was dazed at that time and that's the reason he said the truth as he was in so much pain to think properly to lie ,also with the wounds on his back with zidian and madam yu's temperament it's not easy to figure out " she said glaring at his sect siblings

" Had I known that he was abused in his very home I would have never agreed, but still I admire him for his pure love and endless loyalty" she finished and glaring again at Jiang siblings

Lan Qiren was cursing himself now ,he hated Wei Wuxian even before he met him and didn't think that there's a reason for his rule breaking, what kind of child break the rules, of course the one who doesn't trust the authority,and he proved the boy right by punishing him , he has a lot amend to the kid

The jiangs in question didn't say anything so she continued

" The core is too strong for your body to hold and it won't take long before it.... We should prepare for the surgery"

"What… you can't…"Jiang yanli asked, her brother can't be coreless now he is the sect leader

" It will kill him and return to Wei Wuxian if I didn't do it myself, didn't you hear what I said lady Jiang he can be sect leader without a core but he can't if he died " Wen Qing said as if reading her thoughts

The sect leaders were astonished, they had learned many things about Wei Wuxian , he is a strong cultivator and very loyal and they found a new found respect for the teen who suffered too much

Lan Wangji was grateful for the doctor, he hated her first but seeing her defending his beloved ,he respected her and now Wei Wuxian can cultivate again and get his core back ,he will never let Wei Wuxian get hurt again and he was grateful that women died , she can never hurt his Wei Ying again . Now he will go to his beloved and he was happy, though Wei Wuxian may not take the news well

Nie Mingjue felt a pang of guilt when Wei Wuxian fussed over Wen Qing's well being as soon as she entered his tent , it was the first time he had seen the boy speak to anyone except yanli and Wangji

He hadn't even given her a little chance to clean up and eat something before he took her to the meeting , he should learn a lot from the youngster ,he thought and left them with Wangji and instructed his disciples to prepare to host her

As Lan Wangji expected Wei Wuxian didn't take the news well,coming up with something to convince the doctor , but with one shout from her made him shut up and listen

" Your core is too strong for him Wei Wuxian and you need it the most now and I already checked Jiang Cheng , it is rejecting him "

" But ..." Wei Ying started but single glare from her made him stop

" Your core is actively searching for you , it won't be long before it burns his meridians and kills him , it's the best option" she explained carefully like she was teaching to a small child and Wei Wuxian broken down into tears and hugged Lan Wangji unable to accept it and the doctor left ,escorted by the Nie disciples ,saying that the surgery will proceed with or without his consent,

" What should I do Lan zhan, I owed him that" Wei Ying cried

" You don't owe him anything, no child owes a sect just for taking him on , all sects does " he tried to sooth his beloved

" Yes Wangji is right " a voice was heard and they jerked apart instantly and the Lan elder chuckled

Seeing Wei Ying's confused face he explained

" I'm Lan Xifeng ,a healer and elder of Gusu Lan " he introduced himself

" Forgive this one for intruding but Wangji is right , no child owes a debt just for being taken in by a sect "

" In Fact it's jiangs that owe you ,your mother saved Jiang Fengmian's life so raising you can be paying his debt back "

Wei Wuxian looked stunned,he never heard of his parents before,he was banned from speaking to them in Lotus pear

" You knew them " he asked with wide eyes

" Yes , your mother was a dear friend, didn't the late sect leader tell you about them"

Wei Wuxian ducked his head " he was busy, I can't disturb him "

" you were not permitted to ask " the elder questioned

Wei Ying tried to say that he was not it but he can't bring himself to lie to this kind elder so he didn't say anything

" I heard what Wen daifu said , you were abused child and you were made to think your life is not worth , but it's not; think of your parents do you think they would want you to live like this ?" he questioned

Wei Wuxian initially wanted to oppose but with the mention of his parents he questioned himself, will they really want him to live like that , he knows the answer but he don't know anymore ,all his life his responsibility was to protect Jiang siblings, it's his debt but now he was being told that he has no debts , he really don't know what to do anymore

Seeing his confusion the elder smiled

" We will help you, we can't undo all the damage at once but in the long run you can find yourself,are you willing to try"

Wei Wuxian nodded,he really wanted to try all this time he remained himself of what he owed but these days, spending time with Lan zhan,who loved him genuinely made him realise what's true love is like and he wanted live a long life loving his Hanguang-Jun and he regretted giving his core away, though he won't admit it out loud

They discussed many things that night and he finally accepted the surgery was a good thing and he can have his core back, his injuries will heal and he will be normal in few weeks and mainly there is no need to use demonic cultivation and worry his Lan zhan anymore ,the elder left And Lan Qiren entered the room and apologised to him , Wei Wuxian was too stunned as the elder bowed to him ,he quickly waved them him off but the elder Lan didn't seemed to be convinced but dropped the matter and asked about their marriage and once again Wei Wuxian was too shocked about how the elder easily accepting him into the family and Lan Qiren was a satisfied with Wei Wuxian's shameless answer about how much he loves his nephew and frimley instead that he should return to gusu and rest but Wei Wuxian declined as he wanted to help in the war and finally agreed but insisted that Wei Wuxian should come to live in Gusu after marriage and Wei Wuxian happily agreed

Later Lan Xichen and Nie brothers arrived and congratulated them and expressed their concern over his health which made Wei Wuxian blush and then Nie Huaisang declared that they will be sworn brother's once the war is over , the trio was happy to see Wei Wuxian's normal cheerful self again and left the lovers for themselves

Wei Wuxian felt content to sleep in his beloved arms after entertaining all the guests who were genuinely concerned over him and finally he can look forward for tomorrow and he can't wait to use suibian again he was happy despite the little guilt about Jiang Cheng

The next morning was tense and the healer's prepared what is required for the surgery, though few sect leaders opposed about it and Wen Qing frimly argued that Jiang sect leader life is in danger if they don't proceed and they shut up as Nie Mingjue shouted about who the core belongs to in the first place and then they brought up the debt of Wei Wuxian to the Jiang's and Lan Qiren remained them about the life debt he and Jiang Fengmian owed to Wei Wuxian's mother and announced Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian's engagement and firmly said that they will take Wei Wuxian to Gusu

The Jiang siblings argued about Wei Wuxian belongs to the Jiang and Wen Qing shouted about all the scars he bore from zidian and Lan Xifeng said about the turma and emotional damage their mother inflected on Wei Wuxian and Lan Xichen frimley warned them with a smile that Wei Wuxian will not go to the Jiangs,he will not allow him to be abused or hurt again but they still can have their relationship and the discussion ended with that and the Jiang siblings can't do anything to justify keeping him after what their mother did to him

It's midday when all preparations completed and Wei Wuxian was incredibly tense but with a gentle coaxing from Lan Wangji helped Wen Qing to render Wei Wuxian unconscious for the surgery

The best healer's from all the sects were present in the tent ,as it's all the sect leaders demand to allow the surgery to happen in the middle of the war as they were curious

It only took less than half a day to remove the core from Jiang Cheng and transplant it into Wei Wuxian and the screams of the young sect leader were heard only inside the tent thanks to the silencing talismans

Just after the golden core was transplanted the Lan healers along with Lan Wangji and Lan Xichen played cleansing to cleanse the resentment slowly and gradually as his core starting to heal the damage and this took a whole day to completely remove the resentment without any risk to Wei Wuxian and finally when Wei Wuxian opened his eyes after 3days of induced sleep after the cleansing he felt strong thumming of his golden core for the first time since he gave his core away.......

Wei Wuxian woke up with an uncomfortable ache and a little irritation from his hands and legs but as soon as he felt his golden core spinning in his chest he jerked awake

" You idiot, lay down before I make you" Wen Qing scolded

" Wei Ying, lay down" Lan zhan said so he let himself be guided back to the bed by a pair of strong hands

" Wei Wuxian how do you feel "

" Sore " he said and Wen Qing raised an eyebrow

" It's not hurting that much, really " he said
looking at his body only to find casts on his both legs and left arm and he looked at her questioning

" What did you expect, your bones are not broken but shattered idiot, you should be thankful that your golden core is strong,they started healing already " she said and he made an 'oh' sound

" You are not going out of bed for a week " she said firmly

" Qing-jie" he whined with puppy eyes

" Absolutely no" she said , not reacting to the unfamiliar nickname

" Wei Ying, one week " Lan zhan said, looking earnest

" One week then " Wei Wuxian agreed smiling

" Then can I go to the battlefield, after a week" he asked because he knows he is the main force in the battle

" Three weeks and no demonic cultivation, I can't have you go into Qi deviation and then we will see " she said and Wei Wuxian wanted to protest but he nodded instead because he know Lan zhan will be worried and he can't just throw his life away easily now, but he had a different idea to help

" How is Jiang Cheng" he asked instead in a muted tone,he knew how much pain one has to go through the surgery

" He is fine, the surgery only took half a day because your core wants to get away from his body"she said to Wei Wuxian's relief "And if I'm right he might be able to cultivate again"

" really "he asked her with wide eyes

" Yes your core repaired his spiritual pathways and he still had little pieces of his old core, it won't take long to form a new one but he can't fight anymore till he completely recovered , I already told him this morning and I will monitor his progress myself " she said and a huge weight lifted off Wei Wuxian's heart , at least he won't have to worry about Jiang Cheng now

One week was too long for Wei Wuxian though Lan zhan stayed with him almost all the time instead of going to the battlefield, even his uncle and brother or Nie Mingjue can't persuade him so instead they wished Wei Wuxian's full recovery so he can contribute , his old cheerful self retuned as all the resentment was cleansed and Wei Wuxian didn't suffer from the voices and nightmares anymore and sometimes his acquaintances from the Gusu guest lectures and few fellow cultivators who avoided him due to fear visited him and Wei Wuxian being social butterfly made good friends with them and soon Wei Wuxian's reputation increased and all his peers looked forward to his company a little too much to Lan Wangji's irritation

In that week Wei Wuxian didn't waste time but instead came up with a better idea than demonic cultivation to help win the war.

Nie Mingjue was having a headache,the minor sect leader's are complaining,the soldiers are becoming less and Wen Ruohan's army is more in number and they fear of losing, this problem was rectified by Wei Wuxian's corpses but now.... his thoughts drifted towards Wei Wuxian as he heard the teen's voice from outside

"Sect leader Nie, I have something to show you" Wei Wuxian said rushing towards him

" Wei Ying you shouldn't run yet " Lan Wangji's said following Wei Wuxian

" Oh ....ummm..." Wei Wuxian scratched the back of his neck , embarrassed as he saw the other's in the tent , he probably didn't expect that there will be others present in the tent

" What is it?" Nie Mingjue asked,amused by the teen's reaction,he would have been angry if he didn't know of Wei Wuxian's character

" Wei Ying,has something to solve the problem " Lan Wangji supplied

" Umm.....we have less number of soldiers than the Wens and since I stopped demonic cultivation.... I know it's...... difficult...umm..so I made this...." He showed a talisman in human shape " to solve the problem " he explained a little uncertain

" Can you tell what it is A-xian " Lan Xichen prompted seeing his hesitation

" Can I demonstrate" Wei Wuxian asked with a strange glint in his eyes

" Sure " Nie Mingjue said

Wei Wuxian took the talisman and bit his forefinger to draw blood and added a drop of his blood to the talisman and Lan Wangji did the same and later he passed his spiritual energy and activated it and suddenly the talisman grew big and turned just like Wei Wuxian except the white eyes and they can't differentiate between figure and real Wei Wuxian and as Lan Wangji did the same, another figure of Lan Wangji stood beside of him

All those present in the meeting were stunned because those figures look just like normal humans

" Can we go outside" Wei Wuxian asked the stunned crowd

" Let's go to the training grounds " the Nie sect leader said and all went outside

Wei Wuxian draw suibian and gave it to his figure and Lan Wangji did the same

" Fight" they both commanded and figures fought gracefully and brutality and Wei Wuxian started explaining

" I call them spirit soldiers because they inherit the spirit of the caster and they look exactly like the creator, and obey their command, with strong weapons they can fight,so we can use them in the war " he said and with the command. ' stop ' they stopped and Wei Wuxian turned to them

" That's all , shall we go inside " he said and looked at them

They all went inside the tent

" Do you have any questions? "

" Yes ,can you explain it's mechanism,A-xian"Lan Xichen asked

" As you saw ,it takes a person's blood and their own spiritual energy to make and control them,it won't take much energy to make them an average cultivator can make upto 30 figures and they take natural energy from surroundings to sustain themselves for a whole day ,and these can be operated on both yin and yang once they are formed " he explained to everyone

" That's amazing xian-ge " Nie Huaisang clapped and all others came out of the daze

" I don't know how to thank you Wei Wuxian,you solved a very big problem for us " Nie Mingjue praised and all others followed

" I didn't do much , Lan zhan helped me alot" Wei Wuxian waved them off ,his unease was apparent and the little blush on his cheek says he was never used to being praised

" Wangji, A-xian would you like to join,we were discussing about how to proceed, I think it will be helpful and you are more aquinted with your tailsman so it will be useful if you suggest about how to use them" Lan Xichen suggested

" Ofcourse " Wei Wuxian agreed

The discussion started and all those who are present were astonished by Wei Wuxian's wits, with Lan Wangji occasional suggestions and Wei Wuxian's ideas the discussion ended within an hour , all those who were present developed a kind of liking to the lovers except people like Jin zixun who argued but silenced quickly by his cousin who apologised for the inconvenience

They were about to leave when they heard a shout

" WEI WUXIAN!!! , What did I tell you about resting properly" Wen Qing shouted, entering the tent full of surprised people

" Lan zhan save meeee......" Wei Wuxian ducked behind Lan Wangji hiding from the Wen doctor

Lan zhan sighed as the familiar shouting started

" Why didn't you eat your breakfast and lunch, what time it is now , how can you forget the medicine, didn't tell you not to walk long distance......" The Wen doctor nagged while the said patient was trying to find a way to escape

The crowd watched with amazement as the Wen doctor scolding the new inventor

" Qing-jieeee..... " Wei Wuxian whined

" Get in here before I make you " she threatened, showing her needles

Wei Wuxian came out of his hiding place immediately at the mention of the needles

" I just wanted to show the spirit soldiers to them" he explained to her

" I will eat now, though it tastes worst than Gusu food " he pointed three fingers in air,as a promise and she nodded, satisfied

" What about the healing talisman , didn't you annoy me until you got it right " she reminded him of his another invention

" Oh , thanks Qing-jie " Wei Wuxian grinned at her

The viewers ears picked up at the word of another invention

" Did you have another thing to show us ,A-xian " Lan Xichen prompted his future brother-in-law

" Yes, Wen Qing helped me with it, it's a healing talisman , is there anyone with injures, Qing-jie will kill me if I hurt myself "

" I hurt my hand , it's not important " Jin zixuan said in s low voice

" It will do peacock " Wei Wuxian grinned and gestured him to come forward

" Show me the wound " Wei Wuxian asked and Jin zixuan rolled his sleeve to show the still healing wound , which was bandaged and Wei Wuxian removed the dressing and placed the talisman on it and activated it and the wound healed completely as the talisman dissipated

" This tailsman heals the wounds rapidly with the spiritual energy, it can be helpful in the battlefield as it heals the immediate injury, closing it till you get to the doctor "

" Wen Qing will explain the mechanism, if you want though but you won't be able to understand most of it " he concluded

"And I might need help to draw the healing talisman because I will make the spirit soldier's myself to ensure it will be a secret so it won't go to the hands of those who misuse it " Wei Wuxian said" Lan zhan suggested it " he added grinning at his betrothed

" It's a good idea , we will send few disciples to help and we will compensate you for using your talisman " the Nie sect leader said and all others agreed so they won't lose face

" Thank you Sect leader Nie , though I don't need any compensation, I just wanted to contribute " Wei Wuxian declined

" Fine, but after the war we will buy the rights to use your inventions "the Nie sect leaders said and others remained quiet

" Thank you sect leader Nie " Wei Wuxian agreed not knowing what to do

" xian-ge shouldn't you be calling him Da-ge ,you will be my sworn brother that means he will be your brother as well " Nie Huaisang asked , after the surgery Nie Huaisang visited him a lot and apologised,he said he only wanted others to look past his arrogance and help him ,but he never expected that Wei Wuxian gave his core away and Wei Wuxian forgave him and they got better after that and decided to honour their childhood promise of becoming sworn brothers after the war and thus their way of addressing each other changed

" Of Course you should call me like
Huaisang " Nie Mingjue declared ,he already saw Wei Wuxian as his another little brother as grew close to the teen over his regular visits when he was still confined to the bed

" Da-ge " Wei Wuxian mouthed shyly at the prompting of the Nie brothers ,his cheeks burned from embarrassment at the attention and care he was given,even at Lotus pier except his shijie no one ever cared for him, even now she still visits once a day though the tensions between him and the Jiang's are high because of the argument before the surgery, and Jiang Cheng didn't bother to even look at him ,when they accidentally crossed paths and he was a kind of glad that Jiang Cheng was absent from the meeting, as he was in secluded meditation to form his core and a senior disciple is now managing his duties

" Let's call it the day" Lan Xichen said and the meeting concluded and all of them left leaving Wei Wuxian to Wen Qing

Just as Wen Qing was about to start lecturing him again a Lan healer appeared

" Healer Wen we need your assistance" she panted, from running

" Let's go" the Wen doctor agreed following her after throwing a glare at Wei Wuxian saying ' don't be so happy yet , I will get you later ' and Wei Wuxian shrugged only for Lan Wangji to lift him in a bridal carry and take him to his tent in front of everyone,much to his embarrassment which made the Wen doctor smile

Wen Qing won over almost all the healers after the surgery,they were vary of her first and rejected her but after seeing her skills and how she stood by her oath they warmed up to her ,even some soldiers started believing her , and some even scared of her , thanks to her fierce nature and that's the reason why she is the only one who can keep people like Nie Mingjue in line,at healer's tent and she can basically be considered as the head of the healers department unofficially

Day's passed and Wei Wuxian started getting stronger,he with Lan Wangji's help started training,at first it was difficult his body ached even with his stong golden core and writing tailsman for the spirit soldiers all by himself was tiring and boring,then Lan Wangji came to help him and later Nie Huaisang and Wen Ning (who was found later ) and Wei Wuxian let them because these people are the ones who Wei Wuxian trust's the most

Wen Ning was found along with the rest of the branch family , and they insisted on providing services to their saviours so they stayed in the camp those who were able bodied helped as much as they can from cooking to healing some even joined in war along with other sects , and after hearing of Wen Qing's defection a number of Wen cultivators defected and joined the sunshot campaign,the other sect's cultivators were vary of the Wens at first but later they warmed up to them , with uncle four's fruit wine and granny's Stories and Wen Yuan's adorable pout and other children entertaining them when they are distressed,so most of the soldiers ( Lan and Nie, some Jiang) didn't get angry at the sight of the defected Wens except Jins and other minor sect who pretend they don't exist so that they don't anger Wei Wuxian and Lan Xichen along with Nie Mingjue

A month passed and finally after so much effort and practice Wei Wuxian can now go to the battlefield......

This was the first scout mission after Wei Wuxian got his golden core back.and he was nervous but confident as the first version of the spirit soldiers were successful and he was confident in the second…soon the battle begin

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji fought side by side they moved in sync with each other while Lan Wangji's attacks were brutal and steadfast Wei Wuxian was like a lightning with absolute speed and agility even the Jiang disciples watched him with awe because one movement he was here and the next second he was elsewhere as the fight progressed,the Wens were suddenly increased in number,it seemed as though they were ambushed

" Lan zhan guard my back" Wei Wuxian grinned at his lover

" Mn"

Wei Wuxian sheathed his sword and picked up his flute, everyone expected him to raise corpses but it didn't happen as he started playing at an elevated platform his flute started glowing, a bright golden and red light emitted from him and the pitch black flute started turning golden and beautiful red and blue designs formed on it

As he continued playing few paper talisman started talking human form but unlike before they have human shape but no facial features

Wei Wuxian changed tune and a magnificent and beautiful melody drifted in the battlefield and the newly formed soldiers started fighting,the Wen soldiers were no match to them unlike the first version of the spirit soldiers and the battle ended in a matter of minutes

Wei Wuxian turned to Lan Wangji and threw himself on him only for Lan Wangji to caught him in a hug only to be rewarded with a kiss on his cheek

The other's present turned red and looking away making Wei Wuxian giggle in delight
as they haven't gotten used to seeing their shamelessness

Wei Wuxian cleared his throat

" Let's go back to the camp" he said and turned to Lan Wangji who was looking at his hand and as he lifted his hand and saw the flute he was holding and gasped

Chenqing's original pitch black colour changed to golden colour with beautiful designs

" It changed"

"Mn" Lan Wangji agreed, mystified

"Let's go back" Wei Wuxian suggested and all of them went back to the main camp

After dismissing the soldiers Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji turned to the direction of the main tent they heard a cheerful
' wei-xiong' only to see Nie Huaisang running towards them

" Xian-ge ...oh, it's true then" he smiled as he looked at Chenqing

"Hmm?" Wei Wuxian asked

" I heard you were amazing in battlefield, like a light source I guess it won't be long before you get your title " he grinned

Wei Wuxian just waved him off by saying they need to report to his brother because he was not yet comfortable with people praising and admiring him but Nie Mingjue and Lan Xichen also praised him for ending the mission very quickly too much to his dismay

Even Lan zhan started spoiling him too much ,he even ganged up with Nie Huaisang to get him new clothes in dark blue silks ,he said he needs new clothes while the Nie heir argued that his clothes didn't go well with his flute even Wen Ning joined them ,how can he say no to their cute faces!!!

True to Nie Huaisang words Wei Wuxian indeed got his title " Guangyuan-jun " meaning ' Light source ' , it happened when they saved few villagers from Wens when he and Lan Wangji went to scout the area and they were holding them hostages so Wei Wuxian was left with no choice to use his spirit soldiers and the light emanated from him illuminated the surroundings and it didn't help that he had to smile and entertain the their turmalized children

Wei Wuxian was so surprised when it spread so quickly that by the time they reached the military base everyone addressed him by that title,he never really cared about the titles and wealth but all he wanted was to live with no regrets and doing what's right

" Hanguang-Jun and Guangyuan-jun ,light holder and light source such a blessed titles for a wonderful couple " Nie Huaisang said dramatically fluttering his fan and grinning and his future sworn brother who was looking a way to escape from his clutches, he was not comfortable with all the respect and he was receiving since they got here

" Of Course it's a perfect title" Lan Xichen agreed, walking in their direction followed by Nie Mingjue who grunted in agreement

" No you too Xichen-ge , I had it enough since morning" Wei Wuxian said with a pout

" Wei Ying should be acknowledged for his merits " Lan zhan , that traitor agreed

" Lan zhaaannn, you shouldn't say things like that,my heart can't take it " he whined

Lan Xichen chuckled " you should retire now ,there will be a meeting tomorrow morning on further proceedings about breaking through the Nightless city"

" Mn " Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian were about to leave when Jiang xuan , senior disciple now Jiang Wanyin second in command approached him

" Zewu-jun,Hanguang-Jun, Chifeng-zun,
Guangyuan-jun " he bowed

He looked at Wei Wuxian with unease

" da-s....Guangyuan-jun ...." He reluctantly spoke " Sect leader Jiang ordered you to return your clarity bell back " he bowed deeply looking pale

Wei Wuxian felt numb hearing those words, he expected it to happen but not so soon in the middle of a war , over these months his relationship with the Jiangs was strained, Jiang Cheng always glared at his direction and shijie visits reduced to the point that he didn't spoke with her in two months, even then she would make excuses for Jiang Cheng behaviour so he always knew that it would come to that but he hoped at the corner of his heart that Jiang Cheng would love him back but it's a vain hope ,he knew it but despite being prepared for a long time he still felt cold so said nothing and removed his bell and wordlessly giving it away to him

The others felt their blood boiling,how dare he?? Wei Wuxian dug out his heart and gave it to him and now he just abandoned him, and throw him away from his sect , just because he is jealous they lost any remaining sympathy and respect Jiang Wanyin

Wei Wuxian didn't say anything as Lan Wangji led him to their tent as dressed him in night wear and tucked him in bed and hugged him close

" Are you alright?" Lan zhan mummered

" No " Wei Wuxian answered truthfully,he is not fine but he won't cry not for him , since growing up he always put up with Jiang Cheng jealousy,palicating him and acting as his buffer because he loved him to the point of giving away his core but if Jiang Cheng didn't love him and only saw him as an object he owns there is no need for Wei Wuxian to care ,he knew it all long but chose to ignore it but not anymore,he doesn't deserve his love and he has Lan zhan now who loved him with his all being and others, he has a whole new family so he won't feel bad about Jiang Wanyin not when he doesn't deserve it

" I will be fine" Wei Wuxian replied with a smile and hugged Lan Wangji as he drifted to sleep

The next morning he woke up fresh, like a heavy burden lifted off him ,he was free now of all debts and burdens,he smiled thought it still felt a little sour but he was fine, mostly

He was even happy when Lan Xichen visited and gave him a jade pendant " your a family and always welcomed, this pendent is replica of Wangji's own thereby representing that you are his equal " he said as he gave it ,officially welcoming him to the Lans as a high ranking member of their clan

And they attended the meeting,it seemed that the rumours spread that Wei Wuxian defected from the Jiangs upon Jiang Wanyin's orders ,all of them looked at the jade pendant hanging from his belt but thankfully didn't comment on it

As the meeting ended ,gossip stated, picturing Jiang Wanyin as ungrateful brat for turning away on Wei Wuxian after what he had done for him which Wei Wuxian ignored but those only made Jiang Wanyin even more angry

The rest of the day was relatively peaceful but Jiang yanli visited him saying that Jiang Wanyin will come around and he is only just angry that made Wei Wuxian snap at Jiang yanli

" Do you really think that he will come around shijie,he is jealous of me because I'm stronger than him and everyone knew it , I'm not that oblivious shijie I always downplayed my abilities just to palicate him but what good it would do ,if he only saw me as a property he owns and not as a brother I don't have anything to do with him "

"A-xian... it's....."

" I gave him my core , everything I worked so hard to build and he kicked me out of the sect because of some rumours and you think he will come around,are you really that oblivious ,did you actually love me or do you see me as only a servant " he asked because he really can't hold back anymore all this time he wanted to protect her innocence but it's for her own good, though he made her cry it's worth it if she can see the cruel world outside her little palace

That's the last time he spoke with the Jiang siblings because all of them got busy with the siege of Nightless city

The war ended with all their combined effort and Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji together slain Wen Roahan and remaining non cultivators are taken under Wen Qing to become a part of Gusu Lan

The Wen treasure was distributed to those who participated, Jiang Wanyin tried to take Wei Wuxian part saying about the debt he owned but he was promptly refused because Wei Wuxian was the reason he can cultivate again and Wei Wuxian gave his part to the Lan's ,some for rebuilding and some for safekeeping as suggested by Lan Wangji

Jin Guanshan tried to get the war spoils through Meng yao which didn't work because he didn't kill Wen Roahon and Jin participation was lesser than the minor sect's so asked the custody of war criminals ,he refused because there aren't many Wen cultivators survived and civilians will be under Lan sect supervision because of Lan Xichen promise to Wen Qing and others supported him after Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji described what Jin zixun has done to the civilians….

Wei Wuxian was extremely bored,the banquet the jins arranged was too boring for him

Jin Guanshen gave a long boring speech on how the sunshot campaign succeed in taking down a ruthless ruler as if he participated and succeed himself,he can see displeased expression in Lan zhan and Xichen-ge and total distaste of Nie Mingjue

Finally after few minutes it was over and he requested to arrange the marriage of his son with his shijie, Wei Wuxian was about to interfere but he stopped when Lan Wangji grabbed his hand ,he was not a member of the Jiangs now so he has right to argue he really wished for Jiang Wanyin to opposite it but he was disappointed

Wei Wuxian glanced at his shijie worriedly but she smiled at him reassuringly,the made up shortly after the war she apologized while crying Wei Wuxian can never bear to see his shijie crying so they made up and she so was anger with Jiang Wanyin that didn't speak with him till now though Wei Wuxian felt bad he didn't say anything about the matter

Later she proposed sworn siblinghood and he agreed reluctantly because madam yu never allowed him to call yanli jiejie and now Jiang Wanyin was angry with him and he doesn't want to ruin her relationship with Jiang Wanyin but his shijie insisted They planned do it infront of all the sect leader's after the banquet and Lan Wangji was happy because though Jiang yanli was oblivious to Wei Wuxian's pain she genuinely loved him and as Wei Wuxian was lost in thoughts Lan zhan nudged him to gain his attention

Jin Guanshen was speaking about the war and carefully took the topic to Wei Wuxian inventions

" I herd Wei-gongzi used a powerful demonic weapon in the war , it caused many lives to be lost and such a powerful weapon should not be in the hands of a single person " he looked at Wei Wuxian

" Is sect leader Jin talking about the yin tiger seal " Wei Wuxian asked after he gulped a cup of wine

" Yes , Wei Wuxian it's too powerful so it should be studied so it won't cause more harm "

Murmurs started in the hall and everyone was tense it was no secret that Wei Wuxian stopped using demonic cultivation after the core transfer and the seal was never seen since then and the corpse army was replaced by the spirit soldiers

" I don't understand sect leader Jin, I never used it except few times and it's my spiritual tool why should it be handed over to others to study when I was the one who made it and who can know it better than the one who made it and who is better suited for it than me to study it " Wei Wuxian challenged

Lan Wangji openly glared at the Jin sect leader while his brother made Wei Wuxian position clear

" Wei Wuxian already joined the Lan's and A-xian and Wangji will get married in few months so I assure you sect leaders Jin there is no need to worry "

Even after he embarrassed himself twice the stupid Jin didn't gave up ,he brought up the spirit soldiers

" I invented them sect leader Jin,to help the war and now it's over I don't see any reason to share it with others especially when there is a chance for them to be misused however I will indeed sell the healing talisman as agreed but for that you will have to discuss with the Lan's " he said with a mocking smile

Finally he gave up and the banquet came to an end and Jiang yanli and Wei Wuxian announced their wish to be sworn siblings Jiang Wanyin glared and immediately tried to argue but with one single glance he went silent and stormed out of the hall, technically they can't do it without the sect leader's permission but Jiang Wanyin was afraid that his sister will never speak with him if he disagreed and with Nie Mingjue and Lan Xichen and Jin Guanshen supporting them the minor sect leader's remained silent and infront of all the sect leaders the took oaths to be siblings forever to love and cherish each other

Wei Wuxian was so happy to call yanli A-jie ,he nearly cried and the celebrations ended and they seperated will the promise to write letters every week

The trip to Gusu was pleasant and Wei Wuxian entertained everyone with endless chatter and teasing

Once they reached they were greeted by Lan Qiren and many elders ,some of them were not happy to see Wei Wuxian and didn't conceal their disapproval but Wei Wuxian paid them no mind

It was already late so they retired to jingshi it was pleasant to spend their time alone ,the elders disapproved them staying together but Lan Wangji was too stubborn

Day's passed quickly since then and cloud Recesses got used to his presence and even Lan Qiren turned blind to his rule breaking as long as he didn't do it infront of him

Some elders warmed up to him quickly and some grew curious of his inventions and once Lan zhan confirmed the reason for his demonic cultivation and he promised to not use it again unless absolutely necessary they reluctantly agreed

Wei Wuxian split his time helping the rebuilding and studying the seal to destroy it and with the his new talisman spiritual workers they got manual labour without much effort and money

It just took two months to rebuild the cloud Recesses and with Wei Wuxian's writing brush the books took almost no time to be written and now everyone was busy with the marriage preparations

They had a simple wedding with only their family present ie the Nie's ,Wen's and Jiang yanli also attended thogh Jiang Wanyin refused to come the wedding was very pleasant and later they adopted Wen Yuan

Their wedding night was amazing. Wei Wuxian thought that he ascended and dual cultivation they found made their cores much stronger, Wen Qing concluded that they are highly compatible and months passed in a bliss ......

it's been 4months since their marriage and one week since Wei Wuxian was feeling utterly miserable,every morning he would throw up and he became very nauseated all morning and worst he can't even drink emperor smile, Lan zhan found out though he tried to hide it and became worried and the doctors can't find the reason

" Lan zhan don't worry,we will go to the hunt tomorrow and Wen Qing will come with the Nies she can figure it out " he soothed his beloved

" Mn " Lan Wangji reluctantly agreed to go to the hunt because Wei Wuxian was unwell and it would look bad if they didn't attend

So they set out to the Koy tower, Wei Wuxian shared Lan Wangji's sword as the doctors advised him not to

Once they settled Wen Qing immediately checked on Wei Wuxian,her brows furrowed in concentration and frowned

" What's wrong" Lan Wangji asked , concerned

" Nothing is wrong,now answer my questions are you feeling nauseated and vomiting lately"

" Yes , it's always in the morning though " Wei Wuxian answer

She sighed

" Well congratulations you are pregnant"

It took few minutes for the words to sink in and Wei Wuxian burst out laughing

" You are joking " Wei Wuxian asked

" I'm not " Wen Qing said seriously

" I'm a man " Wei Wuxian was confused

" Yes you are " she sighed

Looking at their confused expression she started explaining

" It's spiritual pregnancy , it's seems you are more compatible than I thought " she smiled

" It happened before, I read it in a Book if the participants are highly compatible and has strong feelings then there is a chance for life to be born "

With that she left them

" Lan zhan....we.... " Wei Wuxian placed his hand on his stomach

There spent the afternoon on bed cuddling and later they broke the news to Lan Xichen who was surprised but happy and then they told to Jiang yanli she too was happy for her brother

It was decided that Wei Wuxian will not hunt or use spiritual energy unless necessary and Wen Qing advised them that they should share energy and duel cultivate regularly, Wei Wuxian merely shrugged because they can't do it more regularly than every day

So they decided to take a walk on the mountain than hunt ,it was like a pickinc sitting beside a tree and playing tunes overall it was a pleasant experience until Jin zixun disturbed them

He accused Wei Wuxian of performing demonic cultivation and stealing one third of the pray it quickly turned into commotion
but ended quickly after Lan Xichen confirmed that his brother and brother-in-law were not hunting and he and Nie Mingjue were the ones who captured one third of the pray

The banquet was another matter altogether. The little peacock embarrassed himself by offering wine and Wei Wuxian insulted him openly and they left for Gusu.....

Pregnancy was hard Wei Wuxian decided he was always hungry and emotional in first few months he suffered from morning sickness and he can't even eat spicy food and if he did he would either throw up or get heart burns and as months passed he developed strange appetite almost all the time but his sweet husband always indulged him

He would too emotional and cry for no reason and one time he cried too hard for his shijie that Lan zhan panicked and wrote to her,it turned out well because Jiang cheng came along with his sister looking absolutely worried and after few rounds of repeated yelling he apologized and that caused Wei Wuxian cry again which made Lan zhan glare at him and his shijie stayed with him for two weeks before she left

When he turned 7 months pregnant Gusu Lan made announcement of his pregnancy and it turned cultivation world upside down again

Many sect's sent gifts and few persons visited him and Wei Wuxian cried after the third visit because the looked at him so strangely so Lan Wangji forbidden anyone from visiting him again and Wei Wuxian was so happy to spend his time with his son and husband and A-yuan was so happy that he would get to play with his siblings soon

In the meantime Wen Qing published a possible method to repair medirains by transferring a golden core temporarily to the victim of core melting hand and also created an anesthetic which removes the pain while the patient remains awake and this method proved to be successful

Two disciples offered to try because they are siblings and this procedure turned out to be successful,it took two months for the meridians to be repaired and later she transferred the core to the donor's body

Once it was proven to be successful she performed the surgery on almost all the gusu disciples who lost their core and after they recovered they stated forming their core from scratch

Many victims golden core were restored because few Wen's offered their cores for the transfer and the respect for their branch was increased

Months passed and Wei Wuxian was very happy to gave birth to twins a girl Lan Xia and a boy Lan Feng their little rabbits

Both the parents were very happy and spoiled their three children a little too much Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji strictly opposed to make either of them heir because they wanted them to grew up happy and carefree the elders opposed but they were no match to Hanguang-Jun and Guangyuan-jun so they came to an agreement once the children grow up and can make their own decisions they will decide what they want and three of them has equal opportunity they argued that Lan yuan is their son as much as Lan Xia and Lan Feng

But by the time their children reached 15 their parents reached immortality and their family disappeared from the cultivation world when they turned 20 as they had no interest in becoming sect leaders and they still visited their family from time to time and Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji strongly believed that their children will be successful in achieving immortality because Lan Xia and Lan Feng were born with golden cores and Lan Yuan was a strong cultivator and they lived happily ever after , traveling alone and appearing wherever chaos present and bringing light to the darkest of places and protecting innocents

Even hundreds of years later people still spoke about the lords of light who would protect innocents and bring light and happiness to the people……
