Chapter Text

As soon as they met, Xue Yang became obsessed with Xiao XingChen. He hated him. He was pissed by his way of talking to him… as if he was superior to him. A few days later, they met again, and… hung out. The horrible friend was not here, too focused on the temple. Xue Yang was surprised to see that Xiao XingChen laughed so much at his stupid jokes. The delinquent was also surprised that the cultivator was a beta.

A beta? Really? Wasn’t he an alpha like every damn cultivator? Shorty was different, he was a rare omega being a cultivator. But someone like Xiao XingChen, a beta?

They kept seeing each other. They even night-hunted from time to time. Until Xue Yang finally got his revenge on the Chang clan. And… it broke something with Xiao XingChen. The cultivator recognized right away the demonic energy, Xue Yang’s.

The delinquent was disappointed. Xiao XingChen was finally like the other cultivators. Xue Yang thought he was maybe different but no. Xiao XingChen refused to listen to him because he was also disappointed that his friend was someone cruel and insane… killing innocent people: elders, women, and children.

As if! The Changs were not innocent!

But Xiao XingChen didn’t want to hear it. They fought and fought. Xue Yang fled a lot of times. Xiao XingChen kept chasing him. He was stubborn and damn stupid.

One time, Xue Yang was dumbfounded: Xiao XingChen was in heat while they fought! In heat! It was shocking!

“I’m not the only one who lies, DaoZhang~” he said but Xiao XingChen ignored him and took his suppressants before attacking him again.

This time, the cultivator was able to capture Xue Yang and dragged him to the Koi Tower. That miserable omega. That lowly hypocrite! Xiao XingChen even gagged him. Xue Yang couldn’t even talk or curse at him. While they headed to the Jins, Xiao XingChen was often in heat. But every time, the suppressants did the job.

It was so weird.

“Wait and see,” Xue Yang had said. And a few weeks after, he had been released.

Jin GuangYao told him to keep low: as if! Xue Yang had to get his revenge from that lowly omega of Xiao XingChen! The delinquent was on fire. He felt weirder and weirder. And so hot.

And the best revenge was to wipe BaiXue Temple out and kill almost everyone. Except for Song DaoZhang. The fight was funny. But the tall cultivator, so high and mightly, was easy to enrage. He made so many mistakes: Xue Yang blinded him. And then, he set fire to the temple. He hid through the flames until Xiao XingChen came.

And he did!

“We don’t need to meet each other anymore,” Song Lan had said before passing out.

Xiao XingChen was crying and turned his head here and there, trying to find another survivor.

His eyes met Xue Yang’s but… No. Xiao XingChen was too shocked to notice that the delinquent was still there.

And… Something weird happened. Xue Yang felt his body become funny. He recognized this sensation: he needed to fuck… but not only that.

Xiao XingChen screamed and looked at Song Lan.

“We… we need to keep going, ZiChen! Don’t you feel it? We… We are a fated pair! Please! Don’t reject me!”

Xue Yang gulped. He understood and clenched his fists.

“It’s not him, your…” The delinquent grounded his teeth. “I am not! Ever!”

He left BaiXue temple and the two other stupid cultivators. Ah! Deserved him right! Xiao XingChen would believe Song DaoZhang was his fated mate but no! Perfect! That damn hypocrite would suffer!

Xue Yang spent the next few days in a brothel, trying to relieve his rut.

It was… satisfying. He was an alpha. It explained why people seemed to fear him. More than usual, the last few weeks.

It was just a shame that his fated mate was… that dumb hypocrite. That stupid omega.

He didn’t care. He would never see him again. He would live his own life. Without him! He didn’t need him!

At least… he believed it. Until Jin GuangYao tried to kill him and Xiao XingChen found him almost dead. He was accompanied by a blind girl.

Xue Yang was shocked when he found him blind… but Xiao XingChen was smiling. A happy smile. Like the one, he was used to giving to him when they spent time together.

“I finally found you, my fated mate.”

An ill-fated destiny.

Xiao XingChen didn’t ask for his name. He just tried to know if the man was present when the BaiXue temple was annihilated. Of course, the delinquent lied: he said he didn’t remember, that he didn’t have all his memories. Xiao XingChen believed him. He was even sad.

When Xue Yang tried to talk, his voice was different because of the wound in his throat.

Interesting.

It was easy to understand that the blind idiot was afraid of being alone. Xiao XingChen told him that he thought his former friend was his fated mate… Until they left the temple and his Shizun told him that Song DaoZhang wasn’t his mate.

So… Xiao XingChen wandered around, chasing evil alone, picking up a blind brat like a stray animal. And he finally found the wounded man.

Xiao XingChen was happy to find his fated mate. It was way different for the delinquent. Xue Yang refused to accept that the blind idiot was his fated mate. He hated him so bad!

And so… Xue Yang played with him. He made the great and so kind cultivator kill people. Those lowly peasants… They also dared to mock Xiao XingChen for his blindness and Xue Yang for limping.

Xiao XingChen saw nothing. Well… he was blind. And he still didn’t ask for his fated mate’s identity. He knew the man was a demonic cultivator. Xiao XingChen had been so worried for him.

Xue Yang hated it. He hated him. He wanted to stain him. To bring him down in the mud.

When they had their rut and heat, they took their suppressants. They didn’t touch each other. Xiao XingChen was pleased because he thought his fated mate wanted to do the right things and respect his omega. While Xue Yang just didn’t want to lie down with a lowly hypocrite like Xiao XingChen.

That stupid and blind cultivator couldn’t be his fated mate.

The only thing… Xiao XingChen smelled Xue Yang’s scent. He could feel the anger, the frustration, the hatred. He didn’t understand. It was difficult to hide his scent. So, Xue Yang took suppressants daily and managed to repress them a little.

It changed when Xiao XingChen gave him the candy. He offered it because he wanted his fated mate to be happy. Just happy.

For the first time since he was seven years old, Xue Yang was lost.

He couldn’t help but stay close to Xiao XingChen. They even now shared the bed…without fucking. But at least, the delinquent could mix his scent with the cultivator’s. The other alphas stopped lurking around the blind man. Sometimes, they even tried to court Xiao XingChen but Xue Yang appeared every time… He also killed some of them when they tried to force the blind man. And since that dumb cultivator was so nice, he didn’t try to hurt them. He just talked. Pff. How stupid he was.

Xue Yang had his candy every day. He shared his bed with Xiao XingChen… his arms were wrapped around his fated omega. They night-hunted together. But now, the delinquent didn’t deceive Xiao XingChen anymore. He stopped turning people into living or walking corpses.

He also took fewer and fewer suppressants. His scent was now calm. He could control his anger. So, Xiao XingChen wasn’t alerted anymore.

However, they kept taking them when they were in rut or in heat.

Xue Yang saw that Xiao XingChen wanted to be bound to the alpha.

He didn’t want to. He was still Xue Yang. Not ‘My friend’. What a stupid nickname.

One day, they night-hunted far away from the Coffin House. It was difficult and annoying. The demonic entity had killed a lot of people. They even got sick. After many nights, Xiao XingChen and Xue Yang managed to eradicate that evil thing.

It couldn’t be saved.

Xue Yang couldn’t help but think about himself.

And so… the last night in this crappy town, he drank. A lot. They had been rewarded. Xiao XingChen wasn’t fond of wasting money on liquor but he understood that his mate needed comfort.

The blind cultivator helped the delinquent to head to their booked room. Xue Yang stared at Xiao XingChen.

His fated mate.

Xue Yang didn’t fuck for months now. Since Xiao XingChen had picked him up, he couldn’t fuck.

Xiao XingChen was his.

The omega seemed to feel it. His cheeks became red. Of course, Xue Yang’s scent must smell of desire.

It was fast.

As soon as they reached their room, Xue Yang pushed Xiao XingChen onto the bed and undressed him quickly. His lips explored the fair body. His tongue tasted pretty skin.

Xiao XingChen didn’t have many scars. He was so pretty.

The omega said nothing. His hands caressed Xue Yang’s hair. He undid the ponytail and took a sniff from his alpha. Xiao XingChen liked to smell his alpha.

He arched and spread his legs out.

Xue Yang put his pants off and attacked the omega’s lower belly.

He was so thirsty. He needed to feel his mate.

He fingered him quickly. And, oh, Xiao XingChen was so soaked. Soaked for him… but too tight. Xue Yang wouldn’t be able to knot him. However, he could still put his dick in.

Xiao XingChen moaned softly and hid his sounds with his hands while Xue Yang thrust into him. Again. Again. Again.

He was frustrated because he couldn’t go deeper. He wanted to knot Xiao XingChen. He wanted to claim him.

The omega shuddered and turned his neck around, letting his nape free. Free for his alpha.

Xue Yang groaned and bent down. He took a sniff from his mate. It was perfect. A flowery scent. Slightly sweet like honey. The delinquent opened his mouth.

“Aaah… Xiao You…” Xiao XingChen moaned and wrapped his legs around the alpha’s hips.

What am I doing? Xue Yang realized and froze. He promised himself not to fuck Xiao XingChen. He didn’t want that dumb cultivator to be his mate and… he was actually fucking him. His dick was sucked in by Xiao XingChen’s ass.

“Xiao You? What’s wrong?”

Xue Yang closed his eyes and plunged violently into Xiao XingChen. The delinquent licked the nape but didn’t bite it. He nibbled the skin and kissed the shoulder. Instead of biting the nape, Xue Yang thrust his fangs into the shoulder. Blood flowed into his mouth.

And crap… Xue Yang also desired to bite his nape and tasted that blood with the scent glands.

“Ah!” Xiao XingChen gasped and clutched onto the delinquent while the alpha kept moving fast until both of them reached their climax.

… It was frustrating and lame.

As soon as Xue Yang squirted in Xiao XingChen’s body, he removed and panted. He looked for his pants and put them in.

The blind cultivator cleared his throat.

“I… Did I do something wrong?”

Xue Yang swallowed.

“No. You didn’t. Just… I drank too much. Way too much. We… we weren’t supposed to fuck.”

Xiao XingChen held his breath.

“I understand.” Of course, he didn’t. “I apologize.” Stop doing it. “Maybe… maybe we can talk? Maybe it’s time for us to officialize our bond? We can get married.” No. “We will make love.” No. “You will knot and claim me.” No! “It’ll be wonderful.”

Xue Yang held his breath.

“Wonderful… you say. No. It won’t be wonderful.” He wanted to cease that masquerade. He chuckled. “You don’t even want me to be your mate.”

Xiao XingChen’s scent was alarmed and confused. The omega moved and wrapped his arms around the delinquent’s belly. His chin was on Xue Yang’s shoulder.

“What are you talking about? You know it’s not true. I love you.” It hurt. More than Xue Yang thought. “You’re my fated mate. I’ll be more than happy to be bonded to you. We can even have a family.”

Xue Yang’s heart tightened. The delinquent got up and stepped away from Xiao XingChen.

“We are an ill-fated pair,” Xue Yang finally stated with his true voice.

The reaction was immediate: Xiao XingChen took his robe and grabbed ShuangHua.

Xue Yang clenched his jaw and fists. He knew the blind cultivator wouldn’t be happy to learn who was his real fated mate. But… pointing ShuangHua at him? After all these months together? Laughing and smiling? Night-hunting together? Making chores at home?

“Was it fun?” Xiao XingChen asked coldly. Tears of blood were flowing on his face. His scent was alarmed, confused, sad… Xue Yang was also feeling fear and anger from the blind man.

The delinquent puffed.

“Of course it was.”

It wasn’t good. It was the middle of the night in an inn. Their scents must be strong. Xue Yang needed to find something to… calm his mate down.

“After all this time, what were you trying to do?” His voice was still icy. Right now, Xue Yang remembered the Bright Moon and the Gentle Breeze.

Really? Bright and gentle? Xiao XingChen was right now the hypocrite who had chased him down for weeks.

He smirked.

“Who knows? Maybe I was bored.” No. It wasn’t good. Not like this. He had to find something else. Ah. “Xiao XingChen DaoZhang, do you still want to hear the end of the story that I didn’t finish?” Xue Yang asked. Xiao XingChen was deeply sad when the delinquent told him about his painful childhood. Maybe he could talk to Xiao XingChen like this.

“No.” But his grasp on ShuangHua was a little weak. His scent was a little curious and the cultivator wanted to understand.

“Well, I’m going to tell you anyway. After you hear it, if you still think it’s my fault, you can do whatever you want.”

False. Of course. If Xiao XingChen tried something funny, Xue Yang would use his power as an alpha. He never used it on the blind man. He would… force him to be his.

Or not.

Then, Xue Yang told him what happened with Chang CiAn, what that horrible man did to his left hand and crushed his pinky. However, the memories revived the sour feelings towards his fated omega. It was painful. Xiao XingChen was his fated mate! Why did he act like this? Even before? Why?

“Xiao XingChen DaoZhang, you were so just,” Xue Yang’s face twisted with hatred. “So stern when you brought me to Koi Tower! You condemned me and didn’t even ask me why I wiped out an entire sect simply because of some suspicion. Is it that, since the fingers weren’t yours, you guys were incapable of feeling the pain?! You guys didn’t know how horrifying screams sounded out of your own mouths? Why didn’t you ask him why he decided to amuse himself with me without a single reason?! The current Xue Yang was bestowed upon you by the past Chang CiAn! The YueYang Chang CLAN was only reaping what it had sown!”

Xiao XingChen paled. His scent was more alarmed and angry. He shook his head as if he was facing a reluctant child or something… hopeless.

“Chang CiAn broke one of your fingers in the past. If you sought revenge, you could’ve simply broken one of his fingers as well. If you really took the matter to heart, you could’ve broken two, or even all ten! Even if you had cut off an entire arm of his, things wouldn’t have been like this. Why did you have to kill his entire clan? Don’t tell me that a single finger of yours was equal to more than fifty human lives!”

Xue Yang felt hurt. His left hand felt funny… as if the wounds were still fresh. Why didn’t his fated mate understand him? His eyes started burning him.

Xiao XingChen was his fated mate! Why did he refuse to understand?!

“Of course. My finger was my own, while those lives were other peoples. They wouldn’t be equal no matter how many lives I killed. It was only around fifty. How could it have possibly been equal to one of my fingers?”

The more he was answering to Xiao XingChen, the more Xue Yang felt it was off. The blind cultivator gasped.

“Then what about others?! Then why did you wipe out BaiXue Temple? Why did you blind Song ZiChen DaoZhang’s eyes?!”

… Why was he talking about Song DaoZhang? Ah yeah… At first, Xiao XingChen thought he was his fated mate.

Xue Yang’s belly was burning.

“Then why did you stop me? Why did you hinder what I wanted to do? Why did you stand up for those dregs of the Chang Clan? You wanted to help Chang CiAn? Or Chang Ping?” He scoffed. “How did Chang Ping first cry tears of gratitude? And how did he later beg you not to help him? Xiao XingChen DaoZhang, this matter has been your fault, ever since the beginning. You shouldn’t have meddled with the rights and wrongs of other people. Who was right, who was wrong; would an outsider be able to understand? Or, maybe you shouldn’t have even left the mountain in the first place. Your shizun, BaoShan SanRen, was indeed smart. Why didn’t you listen to her and obediently cultivate in the mountains? If you couldn’t understand the happenings of this world, then you shouldn’t have come!”

He wanted Xiao XingChen to understand. However, his fated mate’s scent was… off.

“Xue Yang, you are… truly disgusting.”

The delinquent felt as if he received a punch in his stomach.

“Xiao XingChen, this is why I hate you. The people that I hate the most are ones like you who say they’re righteous, who think they’re virtuous, precisely stupid, naive, dumb, idiots like you who think the world’s better just because you did something good! You think I’m disgusting? Very well. Would I care if anybody thinks I’m disgusting?” Wrong. It was horrible to hear that his fated mate felt it. “But, on the other hand, are you in a position to be disgusted by me? Huh?”

“What do you mean?”

Xue Yang smirked and chuckled.

“Nothing, really. It’s just really unfortunate that you’re blind. You dug out both of your eyes, so you couldn’t see those walking corpses that you killed. They were so scared, so pained when you pierced them through the heart. Some even kneeled down and cried and kowtowed for you to let off the young and elderly of their families. If not for how I cut off all of their tongues, I bet they would’ve been wailing and shouting ‘DaoZhang, spare us’.”

Xiao XingChen fell to his knees and trembled. He started sobbing loudly.

“You’re lying. You’re trying to lie to me.”

Xue Yang clenched his jaw and glared at the blind man.

“Yes, I lied to you. I’ve been lying to you all along. Who would’ve known that you believed me when I was lying to you, but now you don’t believe me when I’m telling you the truth?”

“Quiet! Quiet!”

Xue Yang burst out laughing.

“Why? Huh? You wanted to know why I stayed by your side all those last months. Are you not happy to know now? Oh. And do you remember at BaiXue temple? Our eyes met but you were too shocked to notice me. You were in heat right away! I felt it too! I understood that you were my fated mate. But you thought it was Song DaoZhang! What a joke! You’re a joke, Xiao DaoZhang! Still, when you chased me around for weeks, you were in heat but you never understood that it was because of me! Even if my second gender wasn’t awakened yet, you could have seen me! You did not! For the last few months, you never asked me for my name! You didn’t try because you thought I was a good and cute alpha because we are a fated pair! I never wanted you to be my fated mate! Ever! Look how the world is against you?!” He burst out laughing again. “Saving the world? What a joke! You can’t even save yourself! The world itself is laughing at you by choosing me, a disgusting murderer, as your fated mate! You couldn’t do anything, you’ve failed miserably, you’re the only one to blame: you asked for all of this!”

Xiao XingChen whined piteously. Xue Yang glared at him but his heart tightened.

“Let me go…” the omega murmured.

The delinquent didn’t want to stop. He was too angry at his fated mate. Why did the world choose Xiao XingChen to be his?

“Weren’t you ready to stab me to death just a moment ago? Why are you begging me now? Huh?” Xue Yang spat and laughed.

Xiao XingChen’s scent became weirder.

An infinite sadness… and death?

Xue Yang’s eyes saw ShuangHua moving towards Xiao XingChen’s throat.

“No!” He screamed and jumped on the blind man.

Xiao XingChen stopped moving but tried to fight against his omega’s instincts: Xue Yang was using his alpha’s ability to force him to stay still. However, the delinquent fell on him. ShuangHua still cut into the throat… and into Xue Yang’s left arm.

He groaned in pain and grabbed the sword with his right hand before throwing it away from Xiao XingChen. The blade had cut deep in his flesh: his muscles were almost cut from his arm. However, Xue Yang didn’t care. Right now, he had to protect his mate. His arms were wrapped around Xiao XingChen and he pinned him against the floor.

“Let me go! Let me go!” The blind man cried and kicked him. “Let me die!”

Xue Yang clenched his jaw and tightened his grasp on the omega. His heartbeat was chaotic and fast.

… He almost lost Xiao XingChen, his fated mate. He almost pushed him to kill himself.

The delinquent saw the drops of blood on the neck. It was a small cut. Just a small one. But there was still blood flowing from it.

Xue Yang kissed it and Xiao XingChen struggled more. The delinquent kept pecking it softly and holding the omega against his body.

Little by little, Xiao XingChen stopped struggling and just sobbed.

Xue Yang’s eyes were wide open. His heart couldn’t stop beating loud and fast.

A moment ago, they were in bed, fucking. Xiao XingChen had told him that they wanted them to officialize their relationship.

And now… Xiao XingChen had tried to kill himself. Because of Xue Yang’s words.

Their scents were sending chaotic feelings. The delinquent’s mouth was dry and he kept holding Xiao XingChen tightly.

He heard a knock on the door. The omega tensed up.

“Sirs? Something wrong happened?”

Xue Yang breathed in and out with difficulty.

“It’s nothing. I just fell,” he tried to use a cheerful voice. “I’m so drunk that I can’t walk right. We’re fine!”

“Do you need something? Like water?”

“Nah. It’s fine. Night!”

The innkeeper seemed hesitant but finally left after a while.

Xue Yang got up and grabbed ShuangHua. He switched JiangZai with it inside his Qiankun sleeve and put his sword against a wall.

The delinquent turned around and looked at Xiao XingChen. The blind man slowly kneeled but was shaking horribly. Xue Yang noticed that he was trembling. He put a hand on his mouth and bit his fingers. He needed to swallow the scream of frustration he had.

The omega’s face was dirty because of the tears of blood. His robe was stained with blood because of Xue Yang’s wound.

Ah. He had to treat his arm quickly. Blood kept dripping from the cut.

“You,” he finally tried to say. “You should go to sleep. On the bed.” Xiao XingChen didn’t move. “Do you want to drink water? I’ll give you water, alright? You need to drink. I… I’ll treat your cut.”

Blood tears kept falling from the empty eyes. Xue Yang took a cup and poured water. It was difficult. His bad arm was painful. Then, he approached Xiao XingChen but the blind man stepped away. He shook his head and frowned deeper.

“DaoZhang… drink. Drink water.” He touched Xiao XingChen’s shoulder but the blind man slapped his hand and the cup with the water: it fell to the floor.

“Don’t touch me!” He barked.

Xue Yang clenched his jaw and glared at the omega. Then, his belly felt funny again. The delinquent’s mouth was now full of spit and his breath was erratic. He finally got up and took an empty basin where he threw up.

He vomited and vomited. He felt as if his stomach was trying to leave his body. It hurt his head and his throat.

Throat.

With his eyes watered because of the bile, he watched Xiao XingChen: the man didn’t move.

Xue Yang threw up again and coughed.

“Fuck. Fuck. Fuck! Holy crap!” He spat again and again. His throat was burning. “Xiao XingChen, go to sleep on the bed. I’ll stay on the floor. Anyway, I think I’m gon-” He had the thought in his mind but couldn’t say it because his stomach emptied again by itself.

It would be a long and horrible night.
