Chapter Text
He was tired. It had to have been two or three months at the least since Ruka had taken up the responsibility to save the world of Miitopia, and since that day the task had taken a heavy toll on everyone who involved themselves. The warrior in question stumbled into an inn after taking a heavy beating from the monsters that resided in Karkaton, feeling sore and exhausted.
His body immediately hit the bed as soon as he checked into a room. It wouldn’t have been so much of a problem for him on the normal day, but the Dark Lord had recently stolen away all the friends he had been accompanied with on the journey for the third time, and now he was truly alone. Ruka could only hope that soon enough he would find his friends and put a stop to the Dark Lord once and for all.
The faintly glowing lava bubbled outside one of the many inns in Karkaton. The sun was no longer visible in the sky as it was in the previous locations he had been in. Despite the change in environment, Ruka felt a bit of hope as he closed his eyes to get some well-deserved rest.
Going about on his journey, the hope he felt in eventually seeing a certain person had confirmed itself once he spotted a white robe trimmed with green, as well as the back of a bald head. Once he reached the man, Ruka noticed that he seemed worried about something.
“Hey, P..! What’s the matter?” He called out, walking over to the Great Sage, P.
“Oh, hello Ruka. I was just coming to visit Karkaton when I noticed these faceless humans scattered around the castle! Does this person look familiar to you?” P asked, moving to show a woman’s figure, a faceless body trembling in fear.
“That’s… that’s Sukie!” The warrior responded, looking at his good friend, and then back to his other good friend, Sukie. She was one of the first to be taken from Ruka, and now the Dark Lord had taken her face; this most likely happened from an attempt to escape the castle and find him again.
“It looks like I’ll have to go on yet another mission to return faces to bodies. Feels like that’s all I’ve been doing for the past few months,” Ruka comments, his expression drooping to a neutral one.
“Hm… it seems as if you’ve been going through Karkaton so far all by yourself. Why don’t I join you on your journey to help you get your friends back? Surely it would get lonely and tiring to do everything by yourself,” P offered, seeming to have an understanding of Ruka’s situation. Though, he seems to have an understanding of just about everything.
“Yeah, that would help a lot! Thank you for joining me on this mission. Maybe with your help I’ll be able to defeat the Dark Lord!” Ruka cheered, newly found energy filling his body.
“I will help, yes, but defeating the Dark Lord is a mission that is entirely your own. You’ve already spent so much time getting this far, defeating him will be nothing once you have your friends to help you out.” P reassures the warrior with a smile and a pat on the back.
“Thank you, P. I don’t know if I could have made it this far without your assistance. You’ve truly been a great help,” Ruka compliments the Great Sage.
“Ah, you’re too kind, Ruka. Now, come on. We should get started on getting your friends’ faces back,” P turns around, staff in his hand. Ruka nods and makes sure he has his sword in hand, then he and the Great Sage go off to make the final steps toward defeating the dark lord.
