Work Text:
“It’s Valentine’s Day!” Marinette exclaimed. Her plan last year didn’t work, so she was trying again this year.
“Marinette, you’re trying again?” Tikki asked. Marinette nodded, “It’s worth a try!” she smiled.
“How should I write this?” she tilted her head, looking at the piece of paper in front of her. Marinette began thinking of a short poem.
“Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
These thoughts are in my head,
This heart belongs to you.”
Marinette stared at the poem, “Corny, but I like it!” she giggled. Then she remembered, “This time, I’ll sign it!”
“Love,
Marinette ♡”
“Perfect!” she smiled.

There was a bet going on when Marinette got to school. She walked over to find out what was going on and she found out Kim lost... once again.
Alix was the one thinking of a dare, but Chloé decided to cut in.
“I dare you to break up with your girlfriend!” Chloé exclaimed at Kim.
Kim stared at Chloé, “I can’t do that dare.”
Chloé spoke up once more, “What are you, a chicken?”. Sabrina began to make ‘bawking’ noises. Noises a chicken would make.
Kim’s face got red and he ran away, clearly upset.
“Chloé that was low, even for you.” Marinette glared. “Okay, and?” Chloé put her hands on her hips. She then walked up to Marinette and whispered in her ear, “Now shut up, Dupain-Cheng.”
Marinette sighed and mumbled under her breath, “Bitch.”
Chloé’s ears perked up and she pushed Marinette down to the ground. Adrien saw this and ran over to Marinette, “Are you okay?”. He helped her up off the ground, Chloé just huffed and walked away.
“Thanks, Adrien.” she smiled at him. “No problem, Chloé was just jealous... once again.” he sighed.
“Yeah, what’s new.” Marinette sighed.

Kim ran into the boy’s bathroom and an akuma was on its way from Monarch. He sat on the toilet, he was upset. He didn’t want anyone to see him like this.
He took out his brooch and held it to his chest. Tears fell down his cheeks, he was done. He couldn’t take Chloé’s bullshit anymore. Kim just sat there and cried.
The akuma went into his brooch, “Dark Cupid, I am Monarch, you want revenge on a dare you didn’t want to take. All you have to do is get me is Ladybug and Chat Noirs miraculous.”
“Yes, Monarch.”
—————————————
“Chloé, you weren’t being fai-” Marinette began talking before an arrow that hit Chloé cut her off.
Her head spun around to see Dark Cupid, she bit her lip and ran to hide to transform.
“It’s time to transform. Tikki, spots on!”
Adrien ran to hide once he saw Chloé get hit, “Plagg, claws out!”
Ladybug and Chat Noir arrived at the same time, “Same time eh, M’Lady?”.
“No time for this, kitty!” she winked at him, “I’m guessing the akuma is in the brooch, same as last time.” Chat Noir nodded in agreement.
Chat Noir went in for a punch and grab the brooch at the same time, but Dark Cupid grabbed his wrists and flung him away.
He then went to shoot an arrow at Ladybug but she dodged it. Dark Cupid kept grabbing arrow after arrow, shooting at Ladybug except she kept dodging all the arrows.
Chat Noir made his way back by using his baton to jump around Paris. When he got back, he saw Dark Cupid hadn’t noticed him yet. He took this to his advantage and extended his baton to knock the bow out of his hand.
Except, he missed.
Dark Cupid saw the baton and turned around to shoot, but Ladybug got in front of Chat Noir just in time.
Ladybug got shot by Dark Cupid’s arrow.
The arrow shot her to the rooftop where Chat Noir was.
“M’Lady, no!” he exclaimed.
Her lips turned black and her eyes filled with hatred. She pushed Chat to the ground on the rooftop. “Don’t you dare call me such a horrid nickname.” she glared at him.
Ladybug swung away with her yo-yo and left Chat to stare at the sky. How was he going to break this spell?
—————————————
Later on, Dark Cupid was making a plan on taking Chat Noir’s miraculous. He would first take his and then take Ladybug's.
“Remember to get Ladybug to help you get Chat Noir’s miraculous.” Monarch stated to Dark Cupid. Dark Cupid rolled his eyes, “Yeah, yeah, I’ll do it.”
“Remember our agreement.”
“I know, I know.” he sighed.
It was time for him to get Ladybug’s help. Luckily, she was jumping by right in time. “Hey, Ladybug!” he called out. She stopped and turned her head, “Yes?”. Dark Cupid began talking again, “Would you like to help me get revenge on Chat Noir?” she raised an eyebrow, interested.
“What’s in it for me?” she asked while narrowing her eyes at him. “He won’t call you those horrid nicknames anymore.” she nodded, “Deal.”
Chat Noir spotted the two talking, so he got curious so he hid. He heard everything that was said, he had to figure out a way to break the spell Ladybug has.
He suddenly remembered what his teacher said last year in school, “True loves kiss will break the spell.” he smirked. He had a plan.
“Hey, bugaboo~” he teased with the nickname, he knew she didn’t like them... as of right now.
“Ugh, it’s the kitty cat.” she scoffed. He looked at her, “Try to catch me, bug.” he teased.
Her eyes narrowed as he began jumping away with the help of his baton. Ladybug swung her yo-yo to chase after him and Dark Cupid facepalmed. It was his turn to follow after her.
When Ladybug was close enough to Chat Noir, she jumped on him. She pulled his hand where his ring was, “It’s over for you, kitty cat.” she began pulled it off and he grabbed her wrist.
“What do you think you’re doing?” she stared at him, “Saving you.”
Chat’s hand moved from her wrist to her chin to grab it, he pulled her in for a ‘true love’s kiss’ to break the spell she was under. The two superheroes closed their eyes in delight.
When the spell broke, the two pulled away and Ladybug shook her head, “What- Where am I?”
He noticed her looking around, “No time!”
“Lucky Charm!” Ladybug exclaimed, “Huh? A bag of marbles?” she began looking around. “Aha!”
Ladybug opened the bag of marbles and emptied them by throwing them towards Dark Cupid.
Chat Noir called for his Cataclysm and Ladybug threw him towards Dark Cupid whom was currently stumbling over the marbles. He grabbed his brooch and destroyed in.
“Time to de-evilise!” she called out, “Gotcha!”.
“Bye, bye, little butterfly. Miraculous Ladybug!”
Once everything was repaired and they explained what happened to Kim, the two went their separate ways.

“Come on, Marinette! Mail it!” Alya encouraged her friend.
“Mail what?” Adrien spoke up from behind Marinette. She squeaked in response from him suddenly popping up.
“T-this letter...” Marinette looked down, “Oh? You have a crush on someone?”.
Alya looked at him dumbfounded. Did he not see his name written on the envelope in front of him?
“Who's it for, Mari?” he asked, very curious as to who it was for. “Why does it sound like he’s hoping it’s for him?” Alya thought to herself.
Marinette rubbed her neck nervously, “No one important, haha...”
Adrien decided not to pry since she was clearly nervous. He was upset, he was hoping it was for him. He had feelings for Marinette, but he just didn’t know how to tell her.
“Okay, I won’t pry, Marinette.” Adrien began walking away before Marinette grabbed his wrist, pulling him back. “Please,” she whispered, “wait.” she looked up to him with hopeful eyes.
“It’s for you, Adrien.”
His eyes widened. It was... for him?
Marinette began running away, “Marinette, wait!”. She was gone.
He opened the letter and read the very short poem. It was the same handwriting as the mystery person’s handwriting from last year. Adrien connected the dots.
Marinette was the mystery girl.
He began running after Marinette, calling her name. He didn’t care if people were looking at him as if he was crazy. He needed to talk to Marinette. Then he saw a familiar figure hiding.
“Marinette, I know that’s you.” the girl jumped in surprise.
When she went to run away again, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her close. Adrien pulled her into a hug, shocking her.
“I...” he began, “I love you, Marinette.”
He let her pull away and look at him with wide eyes, “Y-You do?”.
“Yes, I do.” she flushed a bright red when he said that. Marinette was shocked that he loved her back.
They looked at each other, lost in one another’s eyes. They could stand there for eternity, not caring about anyone around them. It was them and only them.
Adrien put his hand on Marinette’s cheek and she leaned into his touch. He pulled her in for a quick peck on the lips. Marinette wished it would’ve lasted longer, but she didn’t want to push.
Adrien knew exactly what she was thinking, he could read her like a book. He pulled her in for another kiss. This time it was longer.
When they pulled away, Marinette spoke up.
“I love you, Adrien.”
“I love you too, Marinette.”
They held hands walking back to her parents bakery to let them know the news. Their relationship was official.
They knew Lila and Chloé were going to go crazy when they see them holding hands at school the next day.
