Chapter 1: Information Regarding This Fanfiction
Chapter Text
Hello everyone, it’s your charismatic author Champagne, and I am here to provide a few things regarding this fanfiction.
Number One: This is not a self insert, if I were making one, it would have been mentioned in the title. As well as the perspective of the story isn’t just told with Gon or the main four. Every single character in this story is absolutely important and must have their own plot line. You will know whose perspective I tell it in.
Number Two: I will have multiple ships. Some of them may or may not be tagged. If you find any of my ships unlikable, respectfully, I will not change them. These ships could correlate to my storyline and I will not rewrite them.
Number Three: An initial thought of mine was to have Alluka and Nanika have dissociative identity disorder (DID). I do recommend looking up the definition. However I do not believe I have the ability to accurately portray it. As well as it does not feel morally right as I am not diagnosed with it myself. Therefore I have made the conclusion on deciding to make them twin sisters instead.
Number Four: There will be abusive topics and trauma. As well as definitely more mature themes. I do not advise reading this unless you are of a certain age or unless you can handle these themes. Lookout for more trauma topics within the Zoldyck family, though I plan on having some within other characters as well.
Number Five: Though I accept a certain level of critique, I will not stand for overly harsh criticism of my work. I have done my research and I will work very hard on this fanfiction for everyone. If I do receive hate on how I write a character, I do apologize, but I am working very hard.
Number Six: You can write suggestions on a few things, but do not expect your wants and desires to be made possible. I have a storyline I am following, but not everything is set in stone. If there is something you want to see, suggest it, but do not be disappointed if I do not do it.
Number Seven: Characters like Alluka, Nanika, and Zushi (if I miss a few, I apologize) will not be in high school. They will not be aged up and only advance as the storyline does. This story will also take place when Gon and Killua are 14. I have only aged them up to how old they were in the last arc we have seen them in. HOWEVER, characters like Illumi, Pakunoda, and all adults will be aged DOWN to senior year.
Number Eight: This is not a slice of life, this is also not absolute angst. This is almost similar to real life events, of course it is made dramatic to keep the story captivating and great for my audience.
Number Nine: Nen and any sort of powers and abilities do not exist here, again, this is closer to real life than it is to Hunter x Hunter. Please keep this in mind as you immerse yourself in the story.
Number Ten: If you enjoy it, think about leaving me some kudos. If you also have any future story ideas for when this one is completed, drop them in the comments! I’d love to hear your suggestions and ideas. If you took the time and read this, give yourself a pat on the back. If you didn’t… I suggest you do because I will not be answering any questions you can find here.
HUNTER X HUNTER SPOILERS AHEAD, WATCH OUT!!!

(This is an inside to one of the plots that will be brewed up in this story.)
What happens when two freshmen enroll into a school that is most popular for its phenomenal sportsmanship? The answer, they hop on the school’s trend! Of course it is all easy said rather than done. If these two chunks of fresh meat don’t have what it takes to be part of a team, who’s to say some of the more sporty teens won’t make their life a living hell? It’s either climbing to the top or living in the slums in this high school. If the freshmen can’t fit in, all hope is lost… unless they can make their own hope.
Chapter Text
The only thing on his mind was ‘rush, rush, rush!’ The person to blame for that was his aunt. His aunt Mito, though he more commonly calls her mom. Gon, a fourteen year old student who is on his way to school. Not just any school, a school which has the best programs, teachers, education, but most importantly, its sports. The school’s reputation on the outside is incredible, as far as Gon knows of it, the students attending absolutely adore the school, the same school his father went to. His father has become the greatest at the sport he plays and Gon wishes to achieve the same thing. Gon could only imagine the feeling of winning championships. Sweat dripping everywhere and holding a fellow teammate’s hand. Everyone balling up their fists and shaking it in the air while roaring a great winner’s war; the golden medal glistening in the hot day’s sun. A dream Gon was going to accomplish. His aunt Mito always told him he was a bright boy, active, and had potential for greatness.
Aunt Mito was chatting in the kitchen to his grandmother. Probably a series of words relating to this being Gon’s first day in high school.
“Gon, make sure you bring your coat in case it gets cold, tie your shoes too! You always trip on them!”
Gon had on a peculiar outfit for a first day, all green, perhaps unpleasing to a stylish eye, but Gon never worried about that stuff.
“They don’t tie, they buckle! I have to go, I don’t want to be late!”
He opened the door to leave his house, getting a whiff of the fresh and early breeze, the sun just starting to rise. Gon couldn’t be more estática to begin his new journey, but before he could even take a step outside of the quaint little home, he felt a tugging from his backpack. His aunt stuffed his lunch into his bag, then zipped it up. She looked him up and down before bringing him into a hug. A warm and sincere hug, her arms wrapped tightly around his, he could barely even fit them around her because of it. After a few seconds, she pulled apart and smiled almost sadly at him. A new chapter in Gon’s life, this meant everything to her. Gon had the sweetest smile on his face. He raised his thumb and kept the rest of his fingers balled up. His aunt copied the motion and they pressed their thumbs together.
“Kiss!”
Gon would say as he pressed his thumb firmly against hers. Mito’s eyes swelled with a few tears. Gon’s grandmother walked into the room and sighed softly while watching the scene. When they both put their thumbs down, Mito nodded.
“You’re going to do great Gon. Keep your head up, be the amazing kid we know you are.”
Gon’s smile grew even greater. He was going to make his aunt proud. He was going to show her that he would make friends, do great in his studies, and be active. He waved to his aunt who was now standing next to his grandmother that had a hand around her. The grandmother was rubbing aunt Mito’s shoulder, reassuring her everything was going to be alright. Gon left the house, gently closing the door behind him.
His walk to the bus was quick and smooth. He walked on a dirt path. No kids were waiting at the bus stop, after all, nobody went to the same school. The school was popular, but hard to get into. Gon was just so lucky and talented to attend. He took pride in knowing how he could make the most of his education. While waiting, he excitedly, and maybe a bit nervously, clung onto his backpack straps. He kicked a few rocks while waiting. It was about five minutes later that the bus would arrive, when the bus pulled around, a small smile was present on his face. The sound of the bus coming to a stop and the flashing red lights as its stop sign poked out was a quick reminder to Gon to breathe. He took a deep breath before getting onto the bus. He said a quick ’hi’ to the bus driver. When he looked at the bus, it was filled with two to every seat! He didn’t quite expect this, after all, there was nobody at his stop. He moved his way through the aisle, everybody shaking their head and not moving over a spot. It was until he stumbled upon a certain two people that he was able to get a seat.
“You can sit here, you’re a freshman aren’t you?”
A blonde teen would say who was sitting next to the window. Though Gon had to sort of hang off the edge of the seat, at least he was given room to sit down. He nodded with a small and somewhat nervous sounding chuckle.
“Is it that obvious?”
The two looked at each other and then glanced back at Gon. One was tall and looked way too old to be in high school, he was wearing a blue suit and didn’t have a backpack, but a suitcase? Why was he so dressed up? Then again, it wasn’t abnormal for people to wear what they want in society. The other one was a blonde boy. He had red earrings that matched his abnormally crimson eyes. Gon had never seen eyes like those. He had a unique outfit, Gon was fond of it. Blue and yellow was a pretty color scheme.
“Oh, it’s more than obvious. Nobody here really likes freshmen, you remember how that was, right Kurapika?”
The blonde boy, whose name seemed to be Kurapika, nodded and sighed. Then he looked at Gon.
“From Leorio’s mouth blabbering, you could already assume that I am Kurapika. What about you?”
Gon memorized their names. Kurapika was the blonde one who seemed rather nonchalant, and Leorio was the super tall one who was probably annoying. Gon opened his mouth to speak.
“My name is Gon Freecss, and I guess you’ve already assumed I’m a freshman.”
Kurapika let out a tiny gasp of surprise, so did Leorio, except his jaw was all the way to the floor. A few other students took a few glances at Gon. Kurapika looked at Leorio and they both nodded, thinking the same thing.
“You're the son of a Freecss? Like Ging Freecss?”
Leorio would ask with wide eyes and a surprised face. Gon nodded and shrugged. Ging was an absolute hotshot, and especially at the school he was about to attend. A few students who overheard started whispering to each other. Gon was already the talk of the bus.
“People idolize your dad! Damn, it’s a shame you have to be a freshman. I’m a senior, Kurapika’s a junior. We wish you could’ve come sooner!”
Kurapika reluctantly agreed with the statement. Gon felt a little special at that moment. He didn’t want to feel special for his father’s achievements though, only what Gon could do should be the only thing he should be judged by.
“Thank you? So you’re a junior Kurapika? Then that means I get to see you another year.”
Gon would reply back. Gon felt that he could trust these people, they were nice to him before they even figured out his dad was Ging. He was happy to already have friends so quickly. From the looks of Leorio and Kurapika's faces, they figured he was their friend too. As the bus came to a stop, he realized they were at school. Everyone stood up and Gon followed the motion, saying for their turn to step in the aisle.
“Oh, one more thing Gon. Steer clear of someone named Tonpa, he is a big freshmen target. If he offers you anything, don’t take it, alright?”
Kurapika would say to Gon. Gon nodded and acknowledged Kurapika’s statement. He appreciated the knowledge. Then once it was their turn, Gon, Kurapika, and Leorio traveled down the aisle and stepped off of the bus. Gon took in the scenery. The school campus was humongous! Gon took a breath and started towards the school.
-
A white haired boy was awoken by his alarm clock. It was his first day to attend high school. He sat up and rubbed his eyes. Nobody greeted him this morning, it wasn’t unusual. The family was always doing other things anyways. Killua Zoldyck was the boy’s name, he began to get ready, throwing on a simple outfit. He packed his bag with only the necessities. Then throwing it over a shoulder. Killua grabbed his skateboard so he could ride to school, but when he left his room, he was greeted by his youngest brother. His name was Kalluto.
“Huh? What do you need, Kalluto?”
Kalluto was always fond of Killua looking up to him and always wanting to be close with him. But his sisters always hogged Killua. He didn’t like his sisters, Alluka and Nanika. He thought of them like a nuisance. Kalluto was maybe the jealous type, but he always justified in his head that it was fine. He had a reason to be.
“Good morning, Illumi wished to take you to school.”
Killua groaned, he exited his room and brushed past Kalluto, only giving him a shoulder tap. Kalluto looked back to see Killua walk away, he looked down for a moment before deciding to get ready.
Killua grumbled as he went to one of the mansion’s bathrooms. Killua’s family was very wealthy, despite having so many family members, the house was too big to be crowded. As he was getting ready, he spotted someone at the corner of his eyes. A tall figure. Was it Illumi? He tried closing the door as he was brushing his teeth.
“Go away Illumi!”
His speech was muffled because of the toothbrush and toothpaste in his mouth. That’s when the door was stopped, his mother popped in the room. His mom was fairly tall, though that could be because of her heels. She has a Victorian dress, a huge hat, and an odd visor. He rolled his eyes as soon as she stepped in, he was about to be lectured.
“Do not close the door on your mother! And if this was your brother Illumi, it would be very disrespectful to close the door on him. Remember Killua, if someone messes with you, remind them who your family is.”
His family, they were the big bad wolves. A lot of recent rumors were made that the Zoldyck’s were in some mafia sort of deal. It only made people fear the Zoldyck’s. This fear would probably work against people, but that’s not what Killua wanted anyways.
“Yeah, yeah I get it. I’m a scary Zoldyck. I have to finish getting ready.”
He would say- which was still muffled. He spat out the toothpaste and rinsed his mouth with water. Cleaning off his toothbrush as well. That seemed to be enough for his mother, she nodded and left the bathroom. But as soon as she did, it was only a few seconds later he saw two peeking heads. His sisters, who were twins, Alluka and Nanika. Only Killua could really tell the difference between the two of them. At least to Killua, Nanika had darker eyes and paler skin, almost paper white. Both of the girls ran up to Killua and hugged Killua on both sides. Killua’s first smile this morning formed on his face. Nanika was hugging his right side, Alluka on the left. Killua hugged them both back.
“We wanted to tell you good luck big brother!”
Alluka would squeeze even tighter while saying that. Alluka and Nanika were always together. And when they could, they both were always with Killua.
”Aye, we love you!”
Nanika would also hug on tighter. A few seconds later, they both let go. Alluka clasped her hand together in balled up fists. Nanika laid her hands flat against each other.
“I love you both too, thank you Alluka, Nanika. Are you two ready to go to school today?”
Killua responded back. Alluka and Nanika looked at each other then shook their heads.
“We have to get our backpacks ready!”
Alluka exclaimed and Nanika nodded fast. They both turned around and waved at Killua.
“Bye big brother!”
“Bye Killua!”
They both would say to Killua. Alluka often called Killua ‘big brother’ and Nanika usually called his name. It was a big indicator on who was who. They both ran out of the bathroom to finish packing their bags. Killua finished up in the bathroom, exiting and closing the door. He would ignore Illumi’s request to drop him off at school, he’s just skateboard there. As Killua was leaving, he saw his grandfather Zeno. He watched Killua as he was walking away. Killua’s opinions on his grandfather weren’t really negative. More pros than cons if anything. Then Milluki, his other old brother, comes running tiredly up to Killua.
“Hey Killua, don’t walk away from me! Papa wants to see you. And if you don’t go see him now, I’ll get in trouble!”
Killua turns to Milluki and grins mischievously. Milluki probably already knew what Killua meant.
“Wouldn’t it be funny to see you get punished?”
Killua responded, Milluki’s face grew annoyed and he rolled his eyes.
“Then I’ll just tell him what you said, now hurry up, or else you’re going to be late.”
Milluki stomped off. Killua and him didn’t really have the best relationship. Their best moments were when Killua was young. Killua decided to go see what his father needed. When walking to his father’s room, it was a grim and uncomfortable feeling. His father Silva wasn’t exactly nice, he wasn’t the type to even really talk to him often. As Killua approached the room, he sighed before opening the door slowly. Stepping inside and closing it behind him. The room had a blue light and was dark. Dogs rested on the side of his father.
“You wanted to see me?”
His father scoots over and pats an empty space for Killua to sit at. Killua walks over and drops down to sit. He looks inquisitively at his father.
“Kikyou already told you this. But if anyone decides to bother you, let them know who you are. You should already be aware of the rumors. They work to our advantage.”
Kikyou was his mother, the one in the Victorian dress. Killua was bored of the topic already. Hearing what his father said just reminded Killua of his mother’s already said statement.
“I know.”
Killua responded. His father didn’t really have much to say.
“I want you to join a sport. I also want you to do well on your studies. Is that understood?”
Everyone seemed to be pressuring Killua on the same things. Especially sports. He didn’t know why, but he wouldn't go against the orders anyways.
“I understand.”
His father nodded. He would wave a dismissive hand to Killua.
“We will have more to talk about after your classes.”
Killua stood up and walked to the door. Why couldn’t his dad just send someone to say that? He opened the door and looked back at his father one more time before closing the door and leaving. Looking down the entire time. His father would have an unpleasant vibe to him. But it doesn’t matter so much. When he looked up, he was greeted by his brother, Illumi. The eldest Zoldyck son, well, older Zoldyck sibling in general. Killua had been trying to avoid him, just spectacular.
“Milluki said you would be here, let us go.”
His brother Illumi was tall, he had long and straight black hair. He also had unusually big black eyes. It was like staring at your worst nightmare.
“I’m not going to accept your ride.”
Killua tried to push aside him while rolling his eyes, Illumi grabbed his bag and pulled him in front of him. Killua stumbled back to where Illumi pulled him. He didn’t want to face his brother, it was even worse than confronting his dad.
“It was not an option. You will respect my choice to take you.”
Illumi dragged Killua by the bad. Even though Killua didn’t want to go, he didn’t have a choice. As he walked down the hall, some of his siblings stared at him being dragged by Illumi. Milluki with a smirk, Kalluto with a blank face, and his sisters cowering away from Illumi, remorseful for Killua. He was pulled all the way outside of the mansion and to a car. A black limo.. Illumi opened the door and pushed Killua in there. Which Killua didn’t like, he sat down and huffed. Illumi got in and a butler closed the door. Another butler was in the driver’s seat. Her name was Canary, she was a very good driver. Killua crossed his arms and closed his eyes, leaning back. He crossed his legs. Illumi sat straight and stared at Killua.
“I take it you were informed about what to do.”
Illumi would ask Killua. Killua nodded.
“Uh-huh.”
Killua responded back. Illumi looked over in the direction of the driver’s seat.
“Pick him up, Canary.”
Canary changed her route slightly. Killua peaked his eyes open, who was Illumi telling Canary to pick up?
“Yes, young master Illumi.”
Canary responded back. Illumi could see that Killua was curious. Illumi glanced out the window for a moment before looking back to Killua.
“Hisoka, that is who we are picking up.”
Killua looked at Illumi more noticeably now. Who was Hisoka? Illumi doesn’t have any friends, he doesn’t even let any of his siblings have any friends. Perhaps Hisoka was just an asset to him. Someone he uses and then throws out when he wasn’t needed anymore.
“Who’s Hisoka?”
Killua spoke up, Illumi readjusted his sitting position. He cleared his throat as he did so.
“An acquaintance.”
Illumi had an acquaintance? It seemed off. Killua didn’t know if he could trust his brother’s words. For the rest of the ride, Illumi and Killua sat in silence except for when Illumi would give Canary commands on what to do when they got to their designated location.
Eventually, they arrived at where they would pick Hisoka up. Hisoka was at a park. A small park. Hisoka didn’t have a bag with him, did he not bring anything to school? Hisoka looked odd, colorful, but odd. He was messing with a deck of cards while waiting on a bench. Killua figured this must be a routine for Illumi and Hisoka. When they arrived, Canary pulled over and opened the door. Greeting Hisoka and closing the door when he got in. Hisoka took a seat by Illumi and looked at Killua. He put his cards away.
“I take it this is your infamous brother? Killua is it?”
Hisoka’s voice sounded strange, he didn’t sound ‘normal’. Killua looked Hisoka up and down.
“And you’re Hisoka.”
Killua’s tone was pretty stern. Illumi leaned back a little, keeping his hands on his lap.
“Oh? So he’s heard of me, Illumi?”
Illumi nodded, he pointed at Killua.
“He is attending our school now.”
Hisoka looked at Killua and then Illumi he bounced his legs while taking out his deck again. Shuffling the cards rather gracefully. He was clearly experienced with cars.
“How fun, pick a card Killua.”
Killua looked hesitant. Illumi pointed at Hisoka with his head. Indicating ‘do it, don’t be rude’. So Killua did, a two of spades was his card. Hisoka shuffled in the process. He broke the deck and nodded at it, then looked away, showing Killua to put it back, which he did.
“You’re a freshman Killua, isn’t that peachy?”
Hisoka gave a smile and tilted his head. Killua was sort of weirded out by Hisoka, so he only stared at the cards. Hisoka started shuffling quickly. The pace was sort of uncomfortable.
“The school is certainly a piece of work, wouldn’t you agree Illumi?”
His shuffling became quicker, it was then that Killua actually took notice of the closed windows. The limo made him pretty claustrophobic. Illumi agreed with Hisoka.
“You’re big brother got tied up in a few things there.”
Before Hisoka could speak anymore about this, Illumi shot a look at Hisoka. His face was blank but intimidating. Hisoka shuffled even quicker, was he boasting, or was this some intimidation method? Killua couldn’t tell.
“A few things? What do you mean by that?”
Killua curiously asked. Illumi looked back at Killua, blank but threatening. The damage was already done anyway, Killua already asked the question.
“Two problems, Illumi fell into two small issues. I’m sure he wouldn’t like me to explain. But, you’ll soon find out. Check under your bag.”
Hisoka responded back. Two problems? What did that mean? Killua picked up and moved his bag, it was his card. Two of spades. The rest of the ride was spent with Hisoka making a few comments, Illumi shooting looks at Hisoka, and Killua sitting in silence while thinking about what happened with his brother.

A purple bus with a painted black spider and the number twelve on it was speeding down the road. A few laughters was behind the walls. Coming from two people. A blonde haired boy and a very big grey haired boy. The blonde was Shalnark, the grey haired one was Uvogin.
“Finally, we get to mess around with those dorks at the other school! How do you feel about that Nobunaga?”
Uvogin would exclaim loudly and he clapped his hands together rather obnoxiously. He was a booming person. It was no surprise considering his personality.
“What do I think? We are attending our rival school, we should feel like traitors.”
Nobunaga, a male with a palm tree hair do. He also looked serious at the moment. Uvogin would sometimes annoy him, but otherwise, they were fairly close.
“Yeah, yeah! It’s for the better anyways, don’t be so down in the dumps.”
Uvogin said. Uvogin was excited for this, most of the people in the bus were sort of pumped for it. It was a new experience.
“Uvogin, you are too loud, I can’t concentrate.”
The driver said. The driver had short black hair. She also had a St. Peter’s cross necklace. Her name was Shizuku.
“My bad Shizuku, I’ll quiet down.”
Uvogin would say a little bit quieter. Then he continued to bother Nobunaga about a series of things. A short male looked at Shalnark. His name was Feitan. Feitan didn’t have the best speech and was kept to himself most of the time.
“We should just throw Uvogin out of bus.”
He talked quietly to Shalnark. Shalnark laughed at him and patted Feitan. Shalnark was pretty upbeat about everything. Even the negatives.
Kortopi, very short with hair that covered his face, sat with Franklin, a big guy with gauged ears, and Bonolenov, who had wrapped himself in bandages. Kortopi and Franklin were talking about a few things related to their situation with Bonolenov chiming in every once in a while.
Machi was a pink haired girl, she was sitting across from a blonde haired woman named Pakunoda.
“Hey Paku, we have similar classes.”
Machi would say as she looked at her schedule. Pakunoda nodded and looked at her schedule.
“Boss, what classes do you have?”
Pakunoda asked her boss, who was sitting next to her, everyone’s boss, Chrollo Lucilfer. Everyone looked over at him to see what he was going to say. Chrollo had a small smile on his face as he looked at his schedule.
“We will find out.”
Everyone stayed quiet for a moment before going back to their previous conversations and talking until they would eventually arrive at the school.
-
He was walking with the three surrounding him. Meruem, the king of the group. He had his royal little ‘bodyguards’ surrounding him. The cat-like one was Neferpitou, the butterfly one was Shaiapouf, and the reddish-purple one was Menthuthuyoupi. They all had a nickname except Meruem, Meruem had a title. Their nicknames were Pitou, Pouf, and Youpi. Everyone was silent and walking. Nobody talked, the only thing that could be heard was perhaps the tapping from their feet to the sidewalk the group traveled on. It was only until Meruem spoke up that a noise other than tapping was produced.
“Review my classes once more Pitou.”
Pitou was happy to be of service. He looked at the schedule and read off each class at each time. As well as the teachers.
“Pouf, Youpi, and Pitou, read your schedules.”
They started in the order Meruem called them by. Each reading their schedules one by one. They were able to have at least one ‘body guard’ in every class except one. The last period. Meruem didn’t care all too much, but the rest did.
As they walked down the sidewalk, they continued to walk in silence, not even daring to make a noise unless Meruem allowed them to. Being disrespectful and doing so would be rude. After all, they owed Meruem.
Notes:
Hello everyone, it’s your charismatic author Champagne. I would like to mention that though this is closer to real life, chimera ants do exist! They just aren’t too dangerous. I think having a variety of species and having everyone wear the outfits they’ve always had would make this a little more diverse. There will absolutely be more perspectives, these are just the ones I wanted to focus on now since they each have a clue that contributes to the storyline!

Chapter Text
Dear Readers,
I sincerely apologize for not uploading in a month, I believed I could get this done soon, but I have not. The truth is, I lack motivation to carry on with true stories even though I love the ideas and plots behind them. I do want to stick to this one, and I am writing it currently. It is currently 10:23 pm in my time zone, so I do not think I will have it done tonight. However, I expect it to be done tomorrow and it should at least be published before nightfall in my time. I do apologize for not publishing a chapter and instead a boring little message, I do hope you understand. As well as a few events have been taking place in my life that have made things difficult for me.
-Yours truly,
Champagne
Notes:
Again, I do apologize. I promise to make it up sometime.
Chapter Text
The noise of a locker being closed could be heard from students flocking the hallways, though most tuned it out or tended to ignore it. An arm which was previously extended into the silver locker and rummaging through an organized mess, was now close to the chest of Gon who was now holding a math book. Gon was the ‘youth and brains’ kind of kid. He had a fair sense of the world around him and yet, kept a good amount of innocence. Anyways, for being a freshman, Gon was very smart. He took a trigonometry class, which he enjoyed very much. This was unlike most of the kids who absolutely dreaded a boring class like trigonometry.
During his five minutes of passing time, Gon almost ran right into a chubby, darker skinned, fellow. The features of this guy’s face was a squared and big nose, bushy eyebrows which could have looked like a broom stuck on his face, a stubble which rested on one of the few layers he had behind his chin. When this man bumped into Gon, his eyebrows raised like he was staring at either the most horrific thing he’s ever seen, or the most astonishing. When his thick eyebrows rose, you could see very obvious forehead creases mimic his surprised eyebrows. He was wearing an undershirt and some type of blue overall type thing with a slightly tight belt just under his stomach and around his waist. It made his gut stick out a bit more than it probably was. In his hands were not any books, papers, or even a bag. Instead, there were two orange sodas which Gon had previously recognized from a vending machine. One he presumed was out of order, it was more likely that some kid put a note on it thinking it would be funny to see the disappointment on freshmen faces. Needless to say, Gon found it immature and not humorous in the slightest.
“Oh- sorry about that! I’m kind of in a rush today.”
The bushy brow guy said in a worried tone. Gon immediately noticed that this person was much older than him, and possibly some of the others in the school. Gon shook his head to reassure him it was fine.
“No offense, but you seem kind of old compared to the rest of the school. Even older than the seniors!”
Gon could’ve sworn he noticed a small eye twitch coming from the older man. Gon was kind of naive and oblivious to how that may have come off. After all, most people wouldn’t want to be told that they looked older, as youth is typically the beauty standard. As unjust as that may be anyway. The chubby man just let off a weak and somewhat ill-intended laughter to try and shrug off the seemingly rude comment. His shoulders weakly bounced up and down to give an emphasis on his laughter. He also looked away as he did so to try and ignore it.
“Well, I hate to admit it but I’ve been a senior for three years now. Unfortunately, I fail every time… Listen, for almost bumping into you and giving you a scare there, I’d like to offer you one of these drinks. Plus, you seem like a freshman, I betcha’ I can take you under my wing and give you advice!”
The man would say rather cheerfully. Gon didn’t quite trust him. Could this be the guy Kurapika was talking about earlier? No senior in their right mind would be caught dead being friends with a freshman, right? Plus, he was offering a drink, didn’t Kurapika say not to accept the offer?
Gon shook his head again making a ‘mm-mm!’ noise to come off as ‘no’.
“No thanks! I think I’ll pass on that. You’re Tonpa right? If so, then I already heard about you. W going around and messing with freshmen isn’t cool. So I’m going to be leaving now, bye.”
Gon waved oddly cheerfully before going to make his way to his next class, which was math. This school had three floors. Most freshmen classes were on the first so that they could get a feel of the school’s layout. However, Gon was taking an advanced class for his age, so his class was on the second floor. The halls were flooded with students, mostly students who didn’t have a clue where they were going. Gon went to orientation, and he was fairly good at figuring out directions with ease. He used his knowledge of the school before and made his way through the school. Climbing up two sets of stairs to get to the second floor. There was an elevator, but only special staff and people who were injured or disabled were allowed to use it. The elevator requires a passcode or a keycard to open and be allowed access to.
The second story wasn’t as crowded as the first. Sophomores and juniors were primarily there. Of course there were a few exceptions like Gon and any seniors who had electives or classes there. Usually though, the seniors were on the third floor.
Gon made it to his trigonometry class where an older lady was teaching. She wasn’t very active, but she talked youthfully. The older woman also seemed eccentric and very bubbly. Gon adored her, perhaps because she stood out and had a decorative classroom. The classroom was filled with motivational quotes, formulas and definitions on posters which were either taped or pinned with a thumbtack to the wall. Her desk had pens in a cup which was in the shape of an apple. At the front of her class was a huge whiteboard and a projector shining on it. The whiteboard read: ‘Welcome back from summer break! I am Mrs. Boasin’ the handwriting was cursive, very nicely written cursive too. Each letter had a perfect and smooth curve to it. She could have typed up each letter in a cursive font and put it on the whiteboard and nobody could tell the difference. What followed after the message was a sin/cos joke which Gon was sure many students wouldn’t get. He did though, and he silently chucked to himself.
-
Across the class was a junior, Shlanark. He was actively on his phone and communicating with his friends. A smile was on his face, but it didn’t look like he was smiling about what was on his screen. Shalnark just looked like he was giving a pleasant smile simply because he could. He had widened eyes and raised eyebrows to compliment his facial expression. Even when the teacher decided to start an ice breaker, he was still on his phone and didn’t bother to pay attention to what was happening at the moment. Instead, he was more entertained by the tiny screen in front of him. Shalnark didn’t take these classes seriously, why would he start now?
He finally looked up when the elderly teacher explained that the class was about to play a game. With that, his eyes shot up and widened even more than they were before. He turned his phone off and planted it face down on the desk. The game was that you had to write your age, name, and career goal; you would fold it into a paper airplane and shoot it across the classroom. Somebody would pick up an airplane and try to match it to the person it belonged to. Shalnark wrote everything required upon and threw it across class. That plane flew awkwardly and fell at the feet of a stranger who was also smiling for the sake of it, Neferpitou.
-
Neferpitou, or often ot referred to as just Pitou, picked up the paper with his very long and sharp nails. He unfolded it from its airplane form and read it. He read the name which was written pretty decently, along with the rest of the text Shalnark wrote. He noticed that this person was interested in becoming something that had to do with technology and robotics. He found it quite fascinating, even though Pitou wasn’t at all interested in it. Pitou didn’t bother looking for this person though, he crumpled the paper into a ball and tossed it on the ground. It was rude but it’s not like Pitou cares all that much.
Pitou gave a tired yawn even though he wasn’t tired, more so just bored. He walked away from the ball of paper and sat down at his desk with his soulless smile and held his head up with his hand.
-
He had a stoic expression on his face. He couldn’t be bothered by anything- or at least he didn’t want to be. He was too focused on the words that came out of the science teacher Mr. Wing’s mouth. The person sitting next to him though? Oh, he was anything but silent. In Mr. Wing’s AP chemistry class was normal looking kids… for the most part. There were two that stuck out like sore thumbs though. Most people believed they were made for each other, it usually pissed the quieter one off, though he never showed that. Being bugged over small situations like this was pretty much meaningless.
“You cannot ignore me forever my dear. No matter how much you want to!~”
Hisoka, the very peculiar looking one, said tauntingly to Ilumi. Illumi, who had long black hair and looked quite scary. These two were actually very popular. Though rumors from Illumi’s family made many people ignore him, there were still some people who adored him like sports fans. That made sense though, Illumi was the greatest at the sport he did. That was archery. The school has such a wide selection of sports, and archery wasn’t as popular until Illumi went to join it, then followed Hisoka. Hisoka was also very good at archery, he and Illumi were the best at it. So many students joined it because of them. Hisoka and Illumi were well known for being unstoppable at archery, which is why they were so popular. It was once rumored that Illumi and Hisoka were going to quit archery for another sport- that practically made them the talk of the school! Though it seemed far-fetched, Illumi and Hisoka never denied those rumors. It would be a shame considering how good each of them were at it. Illumi could not only shoot arrows, but throw needles at amazing precision. Hisoka wasn’t also just good at bows and arrows either, he had his own way with cards.
“I am not talking to you, I am focusing.”
Though Mr. Wing wasn’t teaching anything, he was introducing the class to his rules and expectations, as well as future lessons that students should begin to look out for. Hisoka pouted before rolling his eyes and looking away from Illumi. Some of the classmates noticed this and began texting one another. Spreading rumors and messages saying ‘Illumi and Hisoka aren’t being lovey to each other this year! Do you think they broke up?’ Then people would get responses like ‘Omg really?! Wait- were they ever together to begin with? I heard Illumi’s freakish family did like him dating. WAIT- do you think Hisoka and him were secretly together?’ And then another message like ‘I heard his little brother is going to school here now, do you think if he finds out, he’ll tell his parents? :0’. This… isn't going very well. Rumors spread like wildfire in any school, but especially this one. You could hear a few dings and students looking at their e phones, which made Mr. Wing impatient. Most students looked at Illumi and Hisoka before typing rapidly on their phones.
It was the first day and these things were already happening. Illumi took notice of this publicity. Hisoka didn’t mind it too much, but Illumi did. Without a second thought, Illumi stood up in class which caught the attention of everyone there. He looked at Hisoka who was nonchalant about it all. Giving a shrug and a relaxed smile. Illumi stood for a moment, almost like he was going to say something, but instead just turning around and leaving class. He slammed the door shut and everyone was stunned for a moment. They started whispering amongst themselves while Mr. Wing was trying to calm the rest of the class. But it only worsened when Hisoka stood up. Eyes were now on him as he left the classroom, closing the door gently. Hisoka started pacing after Illumi.
“These sort of things happen every year, how are you so surprised?”
Illumi kept walking, but now faster. Moving away from Hisoka. It wasn’t the fact that these rumors were usually false, the big issue was that things like these can travel to his family. And if it did… it wouldn’t be pleasant in the slightest.
“My dear Illumi, answer my just let’s talk about this, hm?”
It was a certain mood of this situation that made Hisoka absolutely love it. It was terrible for Illumi, it was so satisfying. Seeing a perfect student getting his life ruined was humorous.
Hisoka grabbed Illumi’s shoulder, but when he did, Illumi took his wrist and brought it forward, ready to snap it at any time.
“Do not touch me, I will break your wrist in an instant.”
Hisoka groaned as he was dragged into an uncomfortable position, breaking free from Illumi’s grip. Surely Illumi let him get out. He rubbed his wrist with a now annoyed face.
“Shouldn’t you be in martial arts? What are you doing wasting your time in archery?”
Illumi turned and walked away from Hisoka’s question. Even so, Hisoka followed. Illumi couldn’t do much about it, even when the bell rang, they would still have next period together. What a great start to the first day of school.
Notes:
Hello everyone, it’s your charismatic author Champagne. My last chapter ‘Fresh Meat’ was a little over four thousand words long, this one is more like three thousand. I know that’s kind of disappointing, but this is actually my normal rate! The first one was so long as an introduction to my story. These chapters will more likely than not range from two thousand to five thousand words. Though they will typically be between three to four thousand. Thank you for understanding!
Fun Fact: Did you know Yoshihiro Togashi (the creator of Hunter x Hunter) is married to Naoko Takeuchi (the creator of Sailor Moon)?
