October 10th, 2017:
There was a scent to the air; jasmine and snowdrops with a hint of willow, and it was drawing him towards a thicket of buckthorn and multiflora rose bushes. Bunny had never smelt that particular mix of fragrances, he thought he had met every spirit out there and so knew all their scents or lack thereof in Jack’s case. Jack was the first spirit he and the Guardians had come across that did not have a scent at all. At first, they found it strange, but they did not question it further as Jack always got skittish whenever the topics of scents and or dynamics where mentioned. Yet there it was, a new unknown scent. Maybe it was a new spirit, but Mother Nature and or Man in Moon would have told them, right?
There was an element to the aroma Bunny found appealing, but in spite of that also disquieting, and that had his more animalistic alpha instincts alerting him of something he had never had to experience before. His instincts were telling him there was an omega nearby. An omega in distress. And first and foremost, An omega in heat.
There were no omega spirits, spirits were only alphas. The reasoning behind that was locked up safe in the minds of Mother Nature and Man in Moon. No one—other than the two previously mentioned—knew why, it was how it was. There had never been a spirit born or made that was an omega. Those reborn, even if they had been omega in their past life, got changed into an alpha. Point was there was supposed to be no omega spirits, up till now apparently.
Bunny struggled to push down his urges and both instant internal and external reaction as the scent of an omega in heat was incredibly, suffocatingly, mind-alteringly alluring. But the hint of distress was, regrettably of the omega who was in said position to feel that way, a good distraction, a turn-off, from the mounting feeling in a place he had not felt feelings in in a long while, the distress in the air worried him a great deal.
He had originally that day been out inspiration searching for new designs for his googies. With it being Autumn, preparing for Easter did not need to start for another month or two, so he used this time to relax and explore. He had not planned to come to the aid of a being that should not be existing. He pulled out a patterned square cloth from his satchel which was filled with sketchbooks, chalks, and charcoal. Pulling the cloth like a kerchief to cover his muzzle so the scent wouldn’t affect him too much but still allowed him to locate the distressed Omega. He also breathed through his mouth so the smell in the air wouldn’t attack his nasal scent glands as bad.
As he made his way to the thicket, he noticed how a few low branches and bushes had been snapped, something or someone came through with no care for the plants. But Bunny understood, if an omega was panicking in their heat because of not wanting it or the idea of an alpha approaching them they would instinctively search for a place to hide that repealed others. So, this thicket, dense and filled with thorny shrubberies, was a good place for that. What really confused Bunny were the tracks in the muddy, boggy ground. The being had crawled into the undergrowth, but what stood out were the specs of melting frost and ice.
The scent was getting thicker, and his mind was slipping a little, he had to slap himself to snap back to concentrating on finding this omega and aiding them, not to find them and mount them. He took a few more tentative steps pushing past the autumn-drying-leaves and avoiding the thorns. His ears picked up the now close sound of grunting and moaning. It sounded strained and made with clenched teeth. The breathing was heavy, frenzied. The pain floating around was stifling and it only made Bunny plough through the foliage.
What his eyes laid upon was something he could be fathom.
“J-Jack?” He stuttered. Jack, of whom he had grown very close to in the years that passed and who he had gotten used to having no scent, was there in front of him in a puddle of his own icy sweat, looking drenched and covered in mud and thin scratches, writhing and panting exhaustedly from discomfort and fever. Bunny couldn’t grasp… He couldn’t believe what his senses were telling him. The aroma of jasmine, snowdrops, and willow were coming from Jack. That sweet perfume of an omega was coming from him!
Bunny couldn’t help but stare for a few seconds trying to comprehend how, what, and why. Jack had never showed signs of being an omega, he was determined, mischievous and stubborn, and most of all a pain in Bunny’s arse. Jack was all the image of a proud and loud alpha. Then how was he like this now? If he had been an omega all this time, how had he hidden it from everyone, from the Guardians, from Bunny?
Relapsing towards focusing, he crawled his way to Jack who in his delirious weakened state hadn’t notice his arrival yet, maybe he had but he had to be too consumed by the inner heat of his heat to show it.
This close now to Jack he was finding it increasingly hard to keep his libido down, thankful his protectiveness had overcome him so his mind settled on getting Jack somewhere safer and not in the middle of an open-ish arear where not-as-caring-for-Jack’s-wellbeing alphas could come along and get consumed in the smell Jack was unwillingly giving off and... Bunny did not dare think of what that could ensue.
“I’m here Snowdrop,” well that nickname he’d been giving Jack for a while now had held a secret all to itself. He cradled Jack’s muddied cheeks with his paws, but the contact had Jack spasming and panicking like he had never seen anyone do. Pitch being chased by his Nightmares only coming close to that reaction. Bunny hated seeing strong, steadfast Jack like this. He retracted his paws and it calmed Jack down a little, who now had his eyes shut tight wanting to escape the nightmarish situation he was in. Bunny could feel Jack’s hope of just waking up and it all being a horrible nightmare. Hope that no one would find him like this, but that hope shattered when Bunny had touched him.
Now determined to get Jack somewhere secure and protected Bunny moved quickly, pulling Jack into his arms—it was hard ignoring Jack’s pained screams of being held and touched, but Bunny bit the bullet and knew he was doing it for Jack’s welfare—and slung him over his shoulder, making sure his shoulder wasn’t digging into Jack’s belly knowing how sensitive that would be feeling right now. Stamping his hind paw twice and a tunnel gave way under him. He held Jack firmly anticipating the journey to jolt him, but he wanted Jack out of the muddy thicket and somewhere he could be taken care off by people who loved him and wouldn’t harm him in anyway shape or form.
He didn’t hesitate when he took a northern direction, heading towards the North Pole.
