Summary:

After the HB murders were finally solved, Mizuki decided to pay a visit to Shoma's place. and what she's greeted with is a welcome surprise.

Notes:

yeah, this is my first fanfic. I've actually got a couple of ideas for other fanfictions for this relationship, but I decided to start simply.

Chapter 1

Chapter Text

"10 months...10 months since I finally solved the HB murders." Mizuki thought to herself. "it's Christmas time now, it's snowing outside and it's quite nice out." a voice then talked inside her head,
"You should feel proud of yourself Mizuki, you solved a case on your own and took out the bad guys." Aiba said. "Thanks...yeah, I sometimes just can't even believe that those events truly even happened." said Mizuki. She checked the days date and time, and it read December 25th, 7:15pm "OH shoot, i spent so much time running around all day that i forgot to give Shoma his gifts. Hopefully I can grab some before all of the stores closes" Mizuki raced to the department store and found the perfect gifts for Shoma, Chocolates and a box of parts for Shoma's hobby. They were the last ones left she could find.

      After purchasing the gifts she wrapped them outside of the store in the bitter cold causing Aiba to say "It was a bad idea to wrap these directly outside." Mizuki retorted "Yeah well...I wanted to get these gifts wrapped as quickly as possible." Aiba chimed in "Your body heat is reading low Mizuki, I recommend going to the Enda residence as soon as possible." Mizuki drove to the Enda residence and almost went to sleep on the road before she finally arrived at Shoma's house.

     As she tried to knock on the door, she fell to the floor dreary from the exhaustion of running around all day trying to get gifts last minute for the others because she was too wrapped up in her work. Just then she felt a grip on her shoulders as she was dragged inside the house before her eyes drifted off to sleep. "H-hey! Mizuki wake up" a familiar voice said to her. Mizuki slowly opened her eyes to see a much taller Shoma. "WHA!" she shouted as she fell backwards in suprise, landing softly on Shoma's Adorabbit floor pillow. "W-what happened?" Shoma said, very obviously worried about the cyan-haired cutie that stumbled upon his doorstep half-consciousness and potentially dying of hypothermia. Mizuki blushed from embarrassment because she collapsed in front of Shoma who now looked his age.

      "He looks so handsome now." Mizuki thought to herself, sensing Aiba smile in her head causing her to blush even more. "So...uh what's with the...new look?" Mizuki asked quizzically. "O-oh! Yeah, so I got into contact with the Horadori institute and I was able to get some gene-sequencing work done which is why I also disappeared for a few months as well." Shoma said. Mizuki looked at Shoma's body noting that it fit him perfectly and that it was also very cute.

      "R-right! I got you a gift Shoma, I hope you like it." She handed him the heart shaped box of chocolates and the box of spare parts she bought him at last minute. Shoma unwrapped his gifts and stared not at the box of parts but at the box of chocolates she bought him. he ate one and noted that it was the same ones she gave him every valentines day, and that time when she gave him 2 only 10 months prior. He blushed instantly, causing Mizuki to have a big smile on her face. "Thank you so much Mizuki, this means so much to me" Shoma pulled out a gift of his own and gave it to Mizuki, and as she opened it and saw that it was a hand-knitted scarf made by Shoma for Mizuki.

      "You made this?" she exclaimed. "Yeah, Sis taught me how to knit so I spent the past month trying to make it." he said. Mizuki got up from across the Kotasu and hugged Shoma tightly. After a brief pause, the two looked up and noticed that they were in fact underneath a mistletoe causing Mizuki to move her head closer to Shoma's and after sharing a small nod to each other, they gave each other a brief yet sweet kiss on the lips. They both left the kiss a blushing and very hormonal mess.

       Shoma got up to grab some hot chocolate for the both of them and Mizuki stared down in self reflection when suddenly Aiba said "Finally, I was waiting for that to happen." Mizuki stunned by this revelation said "So you knew the entire time that I had a crush on him and he had a crush one me? Aiba smugly said "Yep, I've known for a while" Mizuki just stared in silence at how much of an idiot she had been when it comes to her emotions around Shoma, like why did she give him two chocolates on valentines day? The only reason she could think of was because of the crush she had on him. Breaking the tension, Shoma came back with 2 cups of hot chocolate and gave one to Mizuki. He finally confessed "I-I've liked you for a while Mizuki, you were one of my first friends and when you left to go to your high school everything felt so, so lonely. so when I was able to help you destroy that stupid bomb, it felt like i could finally move on from that dark part of my life." Mizuki blushed and also sighed with relief that her feelings for him were also reciprocated. She said "I don't know when my silly little crush on you started, but what I do know is that my feelings for you are real Shoma. So, I like you too!" the two of them laughed as they realized how silly their love confessions were to each other.

     Shoma looked out the window and saw how bad the weather is, "Mizuki, I don't think that your going to be able to get home tonight. I think that you will have to sleep here tonight. I'll inform Mr. Date so he doesn't worry." "Thanks Shoma!" she gleamed excitedly. "No problem Mizuki. As Shoma went to sleep under the kotatsu, Mizuki's head rested on his shoulder as the two new love-birds Christmas night came to an end.
