Sara gives Dinah Lance a Reality Check

Summary:

Sara finds her mother leaving and decides to have some harsh words for Dinah.

Work Text:

Hello guys

So, on the various Arrow characters, I’ve never really given a reality check to Dinah Lance.

I don’t have much sympathy for Dinah given how little Dinah cares about her family.

Chose writing up a fic for addressing this, which takes place in Time of Death.

Post stopping Clock King but pre-Laurel apologizing to Sara at The Verdant.

A bedroom

Removing her leather jacket Sara carrying it in her hand causally enters to see Dinah Drake Lance placing items inside a suitcase.

“So just like that, you’re leaving us?” Sara asks briskly.

“You guys don’t need me, and I’ve got a life” Dinah replies.

Pinning a look “Do start justifying this. From what I’ve heard you’ve spent the past years trying to find me, only was it to find me or relieve yourself over guilt? Because here I am mom, quite alive yet you’re leaving. Sometimes I think the Gambit was the perfect excuse for leaving a family life behind since you don’t enjoy being around us” Sara says.

“That’s not true” Dinah snaps.

“Really? You left dad which given his love for the bottle I can understand as sometimes saving somebody who doesn’t want to be saved is impossible, contrary to how Ollie thinks a lot of the time” Sara says grimly remembering Slade Wilson and even a bit of herself “Only that does not explain Laurel.”

“Your sister was a grown woman” Dinah tries yet gets cut off.

“Do not even start excusing leaving my sister behind, mother! Laurel needed a parent, only you could not be bothered. Does not excuse my sister blaming everybody else or throwing a wine glass at my head” Sara replies cynically “Only my sister got thrown aside from dad and you. So just do what you do best mother and run away.”

Not even bothering waiting for a response Sara exits while Dinah stands there for a moment before brushing off the conversation and resumes packing.

Later that night in the Verdant’s basement on a cot Oliver and Sara finding comfort in just holding each other, as Sara let’s out a quiet tear for her mother’s selfishness.

Hope you all enjoyed this.

I figured Sara would be the perfect person for calling out her mother.

Regrettably, due to the extremely ridiculous writing from Sara in Arrow’s later half of season 2, remaining appearances on Arrow and all of Legends of Tomorrow for needing to keep her away due to Oliver/Felicity threat, plus making Sara sleep around like crazy including messed up Ava/Sara pairing well Sara sadly took after her mother far too much.

Until next time
