Notes:

Written for Torchwood100.

Work Text:

It had been a long, bad week at Torchwood. Four residents of Cardiff that had fallen through the rift. The rift had returned 2 teenagers who had disappeared 20-years prior. Ianto had given Jack a reprieve and taken them to Flat Holm himself. Both teens were in as bad a shape as Jack had ever seen. Jack had sat on the Hub's couch and waited for Ianto to rerun. When he did, he held his distraught lover against his chest and rubbed his back as he cried on his neck. Ianto had finally fallen asleep by the time Gwen and Owen had returned from a Weevil hunt. Jack's orders were always to not kill them if it wasn't necessary. Gwen reported quietly that these creatures were especially violent and aggressive. Owen had killed them as humanely as possibly. And those events weren't even all of them. There had been aliens and artifacts and a faerie incident. The week seemed to never end.

On Saturday morning, Tosh had finally reported that the rift was going to be quiet for the next several days. Jack had immediately sent Gwen, Owen and Tosh back to there's. Then he drove Ianto to his, stopping for a take-away breakfast of tea, scones, jam and clotted cream. After sharing breakfast, Jack coaxed Ianto into the shower and gently bathed him and washed his hair. Jack hadn't expected it, but it was lovely when Ianto had reciprocated. After they'd dried each other, they both crawled into Ianto's bed and under his quilt. Jack usually either spooned Ianto or Ianto slept on his chest, but this morning, Ianto tugged Jack toward him and held his captain to his chest.

Jack woke before Ianto and quietly slipped out of bed. Ringing their favorite Italian restaurant, Jack ordered two different entrees and two different deserts and had them divided so they could easily share. Jack was looking forward to their time after dinner. It made Jack very happy to listen to Ianto's voice when he read to him in that gorgeous Welsh accent. Ianto's current choice of book was A Study In Scarlet. Ianto had told Jack that if he enjoyed it, he'd read the entire series to him. Jack only remembered having read The Hound Of The Baskervilles. He was hoping to enjoy these as much as he had when Ianto had read him Ian Flemming and Agatha Christie.
