Chapter Text

Toya and his dad got into another argument.

Sure it had happened plenty of times before, but never had his father gone to the extent to make him feel trapped.

Trapped in his own home.

He could easily leave, that wasn't the issue. He could easily walk out the door and run to, well, wherever. His dad obviously would try to stop him, but that wasn't what made him feel trapped.

It was the fact that his father had taken everything that connected him to his friends away from him. After once again refusing to quit performing with Vivid BAD SQUAD, his father took matters into his own hands. No phone means no contact with Akito or the others, which meant no more street music.

It was the weekend, so Toya wouldn't even see Akito or An at school the next day to tell them why he couldn't come to practice. This left him with only one option: sneak out.

Toya was scared to death of his father catching him, but he managed to get out of the house while his father was getting ready to go visit the Tenmas. This left him with a bit of a problem though; where could he go? His original plan was to talk to Tsukasa and Saki and see if he could spend the next few nights there, but now that was out of the question.

Akito.

Toya started down the street to make his way to the Shinonome household, knowing his partner would let him stay the night.

---

Akito was in his room, working on lyrics for Vivid BAD SQUAD's next song, when Ena opened the door to his room without warning

"Did you invite someone over?'

"No... Why?"

"Someone's here, you should probably go answer that"

"Why can't you do it for once"

"Don't feel like it"

Akito sighed and reluctantly walked down the stairs to answer the door, not in the mood to argue with his sister.

He was surprised to be greeted by his singing partner.

"TOYA! I MISSED YOU YESTERDAY! WHY DIDN'T YOU COME TO PRACTICE?"

"It's.. a long story."

Akito glanced at Toya's backpack. It was a Saturday, why did he have his school bag?

"Could I stay the night?"

Toya looked almost desperate. Akito knew something was up, but he didn't want to push his partner

"Of course! Did something happen? Are you ok?"

"I'm fine now, thank you."

Then Akito did something unusual, at least unusual for him.

He could tell Toya was on the verge of tears and couldn't bear to see him like that, so he wrapped his arms around him into a tight hug.

Toya was caught a bit off guard by this, but accepted it gratefully.

"Come on in."

The two went upstairs to Akito's room, where they worked together on the lyrics Akito had started earlier. They had lost track of time and before they knew it it was almost 11pm. Akito was the first to comment on the time

"Damn it got late fast. "

"We should probably head to bed so we're not too tired for practice tomorrow. I can sleep on the couch-"

"Nope. You're not sleeping on the couch. I don't really want to either though, which is why I was thinking we could just... share a bed?"

Akito didn't notice the feeling of blood rushing to his face as he spoke. Toya did, though.

"Fine by me."

Toya smiled, making Akito blush even more. If Ena could see him right now he would never hear the end of it.

---

It was around 2 in the morning when Akito woke up. He definitely didn't want to wake up this early and could probably fall back asleep pretty easily with a little time. But the thing keeping him up was the pretty face of his singing partner sleeping beside him. He couldn't get over how adorable he looked right now, and this time he was aware of the blood running hot through his face. And that was when Akito realized; he liked Toya.

More than as a friend. More than as a singing partner. He loved him. And there was nothing he could do about it.

Damn. He really didn't want their friendship to be ruined by this, so the same night he figured out his feelings for Toya was also the same night he decided he would carry that secret to his grave. This was also somehow the same night as their first kiss.

Toya's eyes fluttered open, and Akito panicked, shutting his eyes tight in hopes Toya didn't notice him staring.

Toya could clearly tell that Akito's eyes were forced shut and could see his blush and easily put two and two together. Then he wrapped his arms around Akito and whispered;

"I love you too."

Akito's heart was pounding. Had he said any of his thoughts aloud? Surely he didn't.

"EH?! TOYA, DON'T JUST SAY THAT SORT OF THING OUT OF THE BLUE!"

"Why not? It's true."

Akito returned the hug to Toya, wrapping his arms around his neck

"I.. really like you Toya. More than a friend."

"Well, obviously, you've been blushing literally the entire time I've been here"

Akito couldn't help but smile.

"Akito, can I ask you a question?"

"Hm? Sure. What's up?"

"Can I.. kiss you?"

Akito was shocked. This was all happening so fast, did he really want this? After a few seconds of thinking he determined; yes. 100% yes. He loved Toya, Toya loved him, and nothing else mattered in that moment when he nodded and closed the gap between him and Toya's lips.

Notes:

aaaaa fluff with some good angst >>

I projected myself onto Toya a lil too much tbh... oopsies
