Blue Fist Sapphire and The Strongest Man

Sonoko Suzuki went to Singapore to support her boyfriend, Makoto Kyogoku, in an international karate tournament. She invited her close friends to join her. They booked an expensive flight to Singapore together. “I really hope Masumi-chan is here to watch the match,” Aoko lamented.

On the other hand, Kai went to Singapore to investigate a criminal case involving various bombings three years ago. The culprit named themselves ‘Nyarlathotep’, the messenger of Outer Gods in Lovecraft Mythos. The motive was simple. The culprit robbed numerous jewels from the buildings he exploded. Kai was tasked with investigating it as he was qualified to do the job, “The Singapore law enforcement force agreed to help you in this investigation,” Matsumoto told Kai.

Toichi also planned a grand heist in Singapore, with his target being the Blue Fist Sapphire, the tournament’s main prize. He and Chikage had already planned for it for weeks, “We need to be careful,” Jii cautioned.

Shiratori also got free tickets to Singapore from his older brother. He planned to take Kobayashi-sensei with him as a surprise, “This is going to be exciting,” he mused. Coincidentally, Matsuda and Hagiwara took Takagi, Sato, Chiba, and Naeko to Singapore as Hagi roped them into watching the heist together.

Toichi and Chikage took the kids to Singapore as they wanted to see the heist. The heist was magnificent, with Kid and Nakamori fighting again in a battle of wits and tricks. The girls also met Kai in Singapore, “Seiwa-sensei, what are you doing here?” Ran asked, “Oh, I’m just having some vacation here. I heard there’s a karate tournament here, so I came to Singapore,” Seiwa replied. The girls were delighted to see Seiwa. He had taught them new recipes to cook at home, and they enjoyed his homemade cooking. They decided to go to the stadium together. However, during the karate tournament, a dead body was discovered. Sumiko was the one who found it. Near the corpse, there was a card.

The party shall begin, Kid. I’ll defeat you no matter what.

Nyarlathotep

The match was reduced to chaos. Kai silently inspected the card and found the sigil of Elder Things on it. He really needed help.

As luck would have it, he encountered his allies during the investigation, “Talk about rotten luck,” Chiba snarked as he stared at the card. Kai sighed as he looked at the scene of the crime.

Sonoko was disappointed because her boyfriend’s match was interrupted by a murder case. To cheer Sonoko up, Makoto decided to treat Sonoko to a seafood food court. They enjoyed stir-fried shrimp and sweet and sour oysters with broiled asparagus and sweet persimmon juice as the drink. Sonoko was touched by Makoto’s thoughtfulness, “Thank you, Makoto-san,” Makoto blushed at Sonoko’s words.

Meanwhile, Ran, Kazuha, and Aoko watched movies at the hotel. They wanted to give Sonoko some private time with Makoto. They watched Coco and Luca together. They also watched George of the Jungle movies. They winced in pain and facepalmed as George crashed himself into a tree or numerous objects countless times. It was fun and relaxing.

Karate tournament stadium

Nakamori talked with Leon Lowe, a criminal specialist and a local policeman, Rishi Ramanathan, “Nyarlathotep are here somewhere. You are not allowed to leave the location!” Nakamori declared. Leon looked very smug, while Rishi looked nervous. Nyarlathotep was still loose.

As the detectives were investigating, a jewel museum nearby exploded, much to their shock, “Again?!” Richard Thesli yelled, “This is getting more complicated….” Sato groaned.

After some investigation, the mini detectives concluded that the culprit was an inside person, “The culprit knew all too well about the security system and the structure of Singapore’s police structure as well.” Christie concluded. All they left to do was to hack the data.

After some time, they discovered through the hacked system that the person was anonymous. That person had a secret hideout somewhere in Singapore. How could they find the culprit in such a dense-populated country?

That’s when a thought struck Naeko, “Wait a second, isn’t the card that we found had the Elder Things’ symbol?” “What’s wrong with that?” Conan asked, “That officer, Jamaluddin. He had the same tattoo on the back of his left hand! It was small but noticeable. He could be the key to solving our case,” Naeko explained. Kai smiled, “Nice one, young lady,” “Then, all we have to do is to follow that guy. He also seemed determined to defeat Kyogoku no matter what during the tournament,” Nakamori concluded. Everyone nodded in agreement.

Unknown to them, Sumiko overheard the conversation. She was too curious to let it slide.

An abandoned mall, Singapore

The gang decided to follow Jamaluddin secretly. They followed him to an abandoned mall. Jamaluddin walked into the basement area, where he met scary-looking men. Jamaluddin then put down his briefcase, “I’ve got the jewels. Nyarlathotep told me that we must kill Kid during the heist,” “How could we pull that, boss?” one of the men asked, “Snipe him down. Don’t let your presence known,”

However, they soon heard a twig snap.

It was Sumiko. She was busted. Everyone was shocked, including the detectives.

“Sumiko?/Kobayashi-sensei?”

Jamaluddin and his accomplices soon lunged forward to attack Kobayashi-sensei, but they were met with a surprise.

She did a judo throw and blocked one of the accomplices’ knives. After that, she elbowed one of them in the solar plexus. As the finishing move, she performed the rotating kick move that Ran used as her secret weapon.

Everyone dropped their jaws.

“How did you pull that?” Matsuda asked. Sumiko simply smiled, “Maybe I am just a teacher, but that doesn’t mean I’m naïve. I’ve been suspicious that you’ve been hiding something from me, Shiratori-san. That’s why I followed you silently for the past few weeks. That’s how I learned that the local doctor named Seiwa is a PSB agent.” “So that means…” the mini detectives trailed off, “Yup, I knew everything by eavesdropping on their conversation the other day. I was worried about Akemi-chan back then, so I was curious why she was so worried about you guys after she heard about the case of the bloodied ranch,” Sumiko replied. Shiratori was nervous. He was sweating a lot, “S-sorry, Sumiko. We didn’t mean to….” “That’s okay, “I understand your struggles. I’m not mad at all,” Everyone sighed in relief, “Damn… we can’t judge books by their covers, huh?” Nakamori laughed nervously.

After the abandoned mall fiasco, the group devised a plan to catch the culprit. They already had the clues they needed to catch the culprit. But they required Makoto’s help, so Nakamori requested Makoto to help with the investigation.

A luxury ship

The trap was set. Kaito Kid met the culprit in a dark room, “Admit it. You’re the one who did the bombings, Leon Lowe,”

Leon smirked at Kid, “That’s right. I did all of the bombings. The curators of the museums refused to hand me their rare jewels. The museums were tightly secured, so I used the bombing techniques,” “You know what? For someone who loves to brag about his calm and calculated moves, you are pretty reckless,” Nakamori retorted. Leon laughed, “There’s no way anyone would find out. I am a renowned businessman and criminal specialist. There’s no way you could expose me, you lowly inspector,”

That’s when the lamp turned on to reveal voice recorders everywhere, much to Leon’s horror, “Just give up, Leon Lowe. You’re surrounded,” Makoto declared as he stepped out of the shadows. Leon gritted his teeth, “You sly bastards! You used cheap tricks to trap me!” “Look who’s talking. You used the tournament to frame Kyogoku as the culprit of the murder of your assistant, so the sapphire would be won by Jamaluddin. After that, you planned to kill Jamaluddin to get the sapphire,” Doyle smirked, “There’s nothing you can do, sir!” Harry declared.

However, just as Nakamori was handcuffing Leon, a group of pirates led by Rishi and Eugene crashed the ship, “Thank you, you made things easier for us,” Rishi laughed as he directed his gun toward Leon. For the first time in his life, Leon Lowe felt defeated. Eugene soon engaged in combat with Makoto while Toichi brought the kids to safety, “We want to help!” Conan protested, “No way! It’s too dangerous for you brats!” Nakamori snapped. Conan had no choice but to obey.

Meanwhile, Takagi, Sato, Chiba, and Naeko evacuated the passengers. However, the pirates got in their way. Ran and Kazuha soon fought the pirates off, while Kogoro threw the pirates off with his judo skills. Aoko fought the pirates with pepper spray and landed some nasty kicks on them. Sato and Naeko searched for Sonoko, who the pirates kidnapped. Takagi and Chiba couldn’t find Matsuda at all, “Shiratori-san, where’s Matsuda-san?” Takagi shouted, “I have no idea! Hagiwara-san is still looking for him!”

That’s when everyone heard a Tarzan yell.

It was Matsuda. He swung across the ship via a thick rope and knocked some of the pirates out. Everyone just sweatdropped at his antics except Hagi, who was cheering on him, “Go, Jinpei-chan!” Even Rishi and Leon couldn’t comprehend the silliness and said, “What?” as their reaction.

It was smooth sailing for Jinpei until everyone started to yell, “Watch out for that….” But it was too late for Matsuda to notice. He screamed in horror as he ended up face-planting himself into a nearby pole, causing everyone to wince in pain at the sight, “That’s gotta hurt for sure….” Kogoro muttered. The girls were reminded of the scene of George crashing into a tree from the movies they watched earlier at the hotel, “It’s just like in the movies…” they muttered. Matsuda ended up getting stuck on the pole until the lifeguards evacuated him. Shiratori and Sato facepalmed at his antics, “Good grief…” (Yare yare…)

Sonoko regained consciousness just as the ship was about to drown. Jamaluddin took her hostage and challenged Makoto. Makoto was furious to see Jamaluddin threaten his girlfriend. This caused him to go all-out and beat Jamaluddin in no time, knocking the older man out cold. Makoto then took Sonoko away from the ship and jumped into the sea. After a moment, a rubber boat came to evacuate them. That’s when Sonoko found out the hidden secret beneath Makoto’s band-aid. It contained the picture of their first official date. Makoto blushed as he admitted, “It was my intention to have that photo under the band-aid. I thought that I could use it as my lucky charm….” Sonoko blushed at Makoto’s confession before smiling, “That’s so sweet,” she said.

Upon arriving at the harbour, Jirokichi fretted over Sonoko, “Thank you for saving our princess!” Jirokichi thanked Makoto. However, the mood soon got ruined when Leon broke off his restraints, “Freeze! Or I’ll kill this girl!” he yelled as he took Sonoko hostage. However, Seiwa wasn’t going to let that happen. He soon twisted Leon’s arms and pinned him down. Leon couldn’t do anything other than growl in annoyance as Richard put handcuffs on him.

“That was a close one,” Sumiko sighed in relief. Everyone was glad that the case was closed. The sapphire was returned to the government. Leon and Rishi got incarcerated for their actions. Rishi was more accepting than Leon, who was constantly screaming and unable to accept his defeat. Soon, everyone bid farewell to Kai. But Makoto was suspicious of him. He stopped Kai in his track, “You are actually a policeman, aren’t you?” “What are you talking about?” Kai asked, “I once saw you in the police uniform when I was a kid. I have a strong memory when it comes to remembering people’s faces, so you can’t trick me, sir. The way you handled Leon earlier showed that you learned the techniques in the police academy,” Kai sighed as he smiled, “You’re right. I’m a policeman. Please keep this a secret,” “I understand, sir. By the way, please teach me how to do other martial arts. I want to learn more from you,” Kai laughed lightly, “Of course, I’ll teach you one day. You’re such a gentleman. I’m really proud that Japan has someone like you as the representative in the contest,” “You’re welcome, sir,” And with that, Makoto left with a smile.
