Chapter Text
“It was the boogeyman.”
”As a matter of fact, it was.”
At least, that was how the conversation between Laurie Strode, formerly Angel Myers, and Doctor Loomis started out when it came to Loomis recovering from nearly having his skull crushed, Laurie just about everything, and Annie…
Fuck, Laurie didn’t even want to think about Annie. She had no idea what happened, right then and there; there had been this man who looked like an evil rock star who had shown her a picture of a boy and a baby that was clearly Laurie, and that hadn’t given Laurie any answers as to what happened.
”You…you certainly had a funny way of showing it.” Laurie’s words were strained. It felt like she was about to laugh. Considering the fuckery she had gone through, it was probably no surprise if she started laughing Joker-style. “How…how could you fucking say you failed him? It was his fault; he chose to do it…”
”I know that.” Loomis sounded more irritated than usual, right then and there. “He’s a psychopath. I know that; I didn’t lie about that in any way. But…you can’t turn off caring for your patients.”
”He was your patient.” Laurie said, blankly. What the fuck had gone wrong for Michael to go on a killing spree? "I…how?”
”You know the basics.”
”Yeah, your book.” Laurie almost wanted to laugh, genuinely. “Sheriff Brackett hated it.”
”I know.” Then, “The book — it doesn’t tell you the whole story. I did tell people a bit about Michael. The thing about him is that he was quite a bit like real life boogeymen. Some real life boogeymen are born with a talent for like ability even when they’ve done terrible things. Michael was no exception. It doesn’t excuse his actions, but he wasn’t…one-dimensional.”
”He didn’t even talk to me,” Laurie said. “He didn’t even — it was just some guy with rock star hair who somehow had one of my baby pictures. He didn’t explain.”
“I know. I’m sorry, Laurie. For everything.”
Laurie didn’t dream about that as much as the thankfully made-up part about Michael chasing her through a hospital, but she still could hear it rattling about in her head as she wondered what exactly Loomis was hiding.
