Chapter 1: The Fool and the Villainess Chapter 1
Chapter Text
The Fool and the Villainess Ch 1
“Aria!” A voice shouted as the glass shattered.
The sound startled Mielle so she yelled out Aria’s name...no, it startled the woman now in Mielle’s body, who shouted that name almost as if it were instinct. On the other side of the table sat Aria, the main character she so admired.
She had decided to start rereading Aria’s story and suddenly she was in the story, but as a less than favorable character to be.
The voices of people insulting Aria for her mistake were quickly drowned out as she retreated into her own mind and observed her fingers. Slowly she curled them before releasing, curling, then releasing...
As if she had decided they were working properly, she slowly lifted up her own glass to see Mielle’s face staring back at her. She slowly closed her eyes and opened them again, but still, the reflection did not change.
‘Though, I can’t say I was really expecting it to, considering how these things seem to go in novels.’
“Please, don’t mind me. And enjoy the rest of your meals.” The clicking of Aria’s heels as she walked away finally brought her back to the present situation.
As Aria left she looked down at the perfectly cut meat on her plate and the salad alongside it on another.
She looked over to where Aria’s plate was, bloody meat crudely cut and her salad astray around the table. Just like the novel described it.
“Mielle” felt a little awkward, but in the end she picked up her fork and ate her food.
She can’t think on an empty stomach, after all.
‘I’d prefer not to, but I guess I don’t mind dying if Aria kills me.’ Mielle decided as she entered her room, Emma in tow.
‘Or maybe that’s the depression talking. Can your depression transmigrate with you?’
Mielle sat on her bed and felt something hard, not the plushness she would expect from a bed.
She stood up again and pulled the covers down, seeing an ornate looking book with an hourglass etched onto it. She ran her fingers on it, ‘A bit too on the nose I think.’
“Emma...what is this?” Mielle held the book out to Emma.
“It’s your diary, my lady.”
“I had a diary?”
“You’ve always had it, my lady. Although...I thought you left it on your desk. How strange...I’ll make sure to give the maids a talking to so they won’t misplace your belongings.”
“Ah, no, that’s not necessary. I think I moved it here and then forgot to put it back…”
‘I don’t want someone to get in trouble for something they didn’t do. I don’t remember Mielle having a diary, much less one with an hourglass so blatantly on it. This has to be something new.’
Mielle sat down on her bed again and began on page one. As she continued to read, she realized this was quite similar to the novel, but she’s pretty sure things mentioned only in the manhwa were here too, the first chapter seemed longer in a way.
But once she finished the first chapter, the next page was blank. Actually, no matter how many pages she flipped through they were all blank.
‘Some diary…’ Mielle went to her desk and grabbed a quill. She opened up to the last page and dipped the quill in ink.
Emma watched on in confusion as Mielle wrote on the last page, or at least...she tried.
Mielle looked at the quill with furrowed brows and pursed lips. It clearly has ink on it, but it’s not working at all.
‘I tried writing that me and Aria live happily ever after. Thought that would change my fate maybe. Just because I don’t mind dying doesn’t mean I want to feel the pain. But that didn’t work. Mielle dies in the end so maybe I should write, Mielle dies and Aria lives happily ever after? Uh...maybe it’d be fine if I wrote in painlessly too…’
But it still didn’t stick.
‘Fine! I’ll remove the painlessly!’
And yet...still nothing.
‘Man, what’s the point in having this stupid book if I can’t even use it for anything. It had the first chapter, but that doesn’t really help me. It could at least be like other novels where the magic book has the rest of the story in it, please god, my memory is shit! I can only remember so much! I need all the help I can get!’
Mielle returned to the first chapter and sighed. She decided to reread the chapter.
‘Oh this is different...I think. No, I’m sure it is! ‘Cause this is what I just did back there!’ She absentmindedly tapped the quill to a part in the chapter she couldn’t quite remember clearly. This time, the ink was left behind, a blob under the beginning of the sentence: “Aria’s eyes lingered on Mielle for a bit as she noticed what her stepsister was doing.”
‘Oh, sure, now you work.’ Mielle frowned at her quill, but began to underline what she thought was different from the original.
“Mielle intently stared at her fingers, but Aria couldn’t quite make out what she was doing. She finally let her eyes leave Mielle, who seemed to now be completely ignoring Aria, despite her earlier shout.”
The book then went back to describing what Aria saw, everyone around her looking much younger than before. The same as the novel always had described.
In the margins, Mielle scribbled “Different!!” for good measure.
‘I guess this could be useful…’
With the return of Count Roscente, Aria recited a poem as they awaited their meal.
The count praised her and her mother beamed and claimed Aria always loved to read even when they weren’t well off. Though Aria and Mielle knew that wasn’t true.
Mielle clapped along, “that was amazing Aria.”
Aria glanced at her, with what Mielle assumed was expectantly and Mielle nervously shifted her gaze.
‘I know what you’re waiting for, I was satisfied reading what happened before, but...I’m so sorry Aria! I don’t know the response poem!’
True to her words of having a “shitty memory”, Mielle was unable to remember the poem. Although it seems Mielle’s body and mind still remember certain skills like etiquette, she’s unable to remember others.
And Mielle tried to memorize it last night after she realized she couldn’t remember any poem. Really! She tried! But it was so boring! And she fell asleep…
In the end the food arrived and they began their meal. Aria would simply have to wait for another opportunity to trap Mielle.
Mielle was sure that wouldn’t be too hard, ‘I have exactly one brain cell. Even if I can’t follow the plot I’m sure Aria will find something dumb I do to take me down with.
‘
Though...shouldn’t I be trying to prevent the bad ending? Damn, that depression really did follow me, huh?’
Chapter 2: Being a Villainess Could be Fun! Chapter 1
Notes:
Title: Being a Villainess Could be Fun!
Tags: Oscar Frederick/Aria Roscente, Mielle Roscente/ Asterope Franz
Summary: Transmigrating into Mielle wouldn’t have been her first choice, but if she’s here she may as well have some fun.
Who she had been was always called kind, as sweet as honey they’d say! But this Mielle had already screwed up her meeting with Aria and it’s too late to make amends.
Aria’s actions can be justified, the new Mielle can admit, but she has no intention of just lying down and taking the punishment meant for the old Mielle who wasn’t even here anymore. So she sees her only choice was to fight back. And of course you should fight fire with fire! Who knows...
“Being a villainess could be fun!”Comments: Another transmigration story. Also got this idea from the same reddit post as the former chapter, the former story is more comedic and the transmigrator is a whole ass clown like I am.
This one, however, is someone who was nice in the real world, but relished revenge stories in fantasy. And since she decided it was too late to make amends with Aria, she decided to just dig in her heels and make it more difficult for Aria and enjoy the journey, regardless of where all the chips may fall in the end.
But was it really too late to make amends? Maybe not, she just wants to be a little evil, as a treat.

Being a Villainess Could Be Fun! Ch 1
Aria excused herself to clean the wound on her cut.
‘So it’s already the second time around.’ Mielle thought, or at the very least, the woman possessing her body did.
The air had turned a touch awkward since it wasn’t the response everyone was expecting after the whispered bad mouthing from the servants.
Mielle decided to break the silence, “Oh, I hope she’s alright…” For what it was worth, she did genuinely hope Aria was alright.
“You’re so kind.” Cain patted her head.
“Jessie is with her, I’m sure she’ll patch her up well.” Carin smiled. With this the conversation slowly started up again.
Mielle was only half paying attention, lost in her own thoughts:
I suppose Mielle already screwed up her relationship with Aria. Luckily, it’s still the beginning so no one knows her, or should I say my, true nature.
Does this mean I’m destined to die even though I never did anything? That’s hardly fair…
And making amends isn’t an option, I’m sure. So how about...fighting fire with fire? Wasn’t it Aria who said that a villainess should go up against another villainess...or, wait, did I read that from some other revenge story?
As her thoughts were beginning to wander she noticed a lull in the conversation. Mielle clapped her hands together before speaking.
“Father, I heard the most interesting rumor. They say the daughter of Viscount Loren is unmatched in her embroidery! A friend of mine even said she’s seen some of her works before. She was very impressed!”
Viscount Roscente smiled, “is that so?”
“Indeed! I would dearly love to learn from her! I want to make you a beautiful handkerchief! And of course, one for Cain, mother, and Aria too! Won’t you please arrange for her to tutor me, father? It would mean the world to me!”
“Well, how could I say no after that?” The count laughed.
Mielle had successfully ended the day. Once Emma left her room for the night, Mielle jumped up from bed and headed to her desk.
She lit a candle, dipped her pen in ink and began to write, almost unintelligibly.
-Get Sarah
-Meet the prince
-escape from the Fredericks
There’s no guarantee Aria won’t try to get close to Sarah, even if she won’t have her as a teacher. Getting to her first might dissuade her for a time, but she might try to get in her good graces anyways.
More scribbled writing.
-make Aria look worse in Sarah’s eyes?
-visit the shop where Aria meets the prince
-get Aria and Oscar together
At this point, Sarah should already know a lot of the rumors about Aria being a little terror, I guess I could cry into her shoulder about how nasty she is to me.
But it would be more effective if Sarah sees her harassing me, right? But Aria’s gonna be on her guard. I wonder, is there a way to trick her into acting out in front of Sarah?
I don’t think it should be too difficult to get to the prince first. I’ll just take the carriage out before Aria can leave so she’ll have to wait for my return.
And I also want to get Oscar and Aria together. If I act interested in him for now, Aria will want to get close to him. After that I can tearfully let them be together saying that I want them to be happy, it’ll make me look kinder and will probably make Aria look worse in some people’s eyes.
Even if the engagement hasn’t actually been set yet, it’s still a pretty wide rumor that our families were in talks of engaging me to Oscar.
Nodding to herself, Mielle folded the paper as much as she could and stuffed it deep in one of her drawers.
Mielle felt oddly giddy as she climbed back into bed.
I’ve always just read stories of villainesses now I’m going to be one. While I loved reading about them, I didn’t think these things would suit me, but who knows…
“Being a villainess could be fun!”
Chapter 3: Villainess Reverses the Hourglass Ramblings 1
Chapter Text
Title: The Waltz of the True Villainesses
Tags: Asterope Franz/Aria Roscente, Mielle Roscente/King Lohan Croa
Summary: “Nice to meet you too, Aria!” An excitable Mielle greeted her new stepsister and soon pulled her up into her room. But as soon as the doors closed and the servants were sent out for tea and treats, “...do you remember too?”
This had not been their first life, and they can’t say the original was very pleasant. One sister died while the other was forced to watch powerlessly.
But with a new lease on life perhaps it was a sign to take their revenge.
They had once danced to the tune Isis laid out for them, but now it was time to take center stage and show Isis what the waltzing of true villainesses looked like.
Ramblings: No actually chapter for this one lmao
I’m just screaming into the void at this point.
Based on this particular tumblr post by jeweled-blue-eyes. I think it’s clear at this point that I do love Mielle despite everything djhkfaskjfsd my poor little meow meow girlboss if you will. Would love to see Aria and her team up and take Isis down.
I may like Mielle, but I was never able to like Isis oddly enough.
Would love to see two girlbosses winning and supporting each other.
- This will start upon the girls first initial meeting. When Aria held out her hand to Mielle.
- OG timeline Mielle and Aria's fates were thusly: Aria was executed again under Isis's orders, Mielle was held down by knights and forced to watch Aria perish. She was then placed in prison for aiding Aria, execution date probably set for some other time. When Mielle also dies that's when the hourglass finally activates.
- Aria and Mielle remember their pasts once they meet again for the first time.
- The two don't hesitate to act friendly with one another and start talking about what they remember after they are left alone.
- Might make it so the hourglass doesn't work unless they both are present? Kinda like half the power was given to each sister.
Defs wouldn't be plausible in canon but shhhhh - Maybe Mielle should get a different power instead? Or maybe I make her smarter or something instead so each one gets their own boon even if Mielle doesn't have that magical power amen
- Pairing Mielle with Lohan because I don't like her with Oscar??? I like Aria/Oscar, but I don't like Oscar/Mielle. I think my brain is hard wired not to like most canon/close to canon ships god bless
- Had this idea in mind where when Aria gets with Asher, Mielle is happy, but also jokingly goes, "that's not fair where's my royal boyfriend :/" and she meets Lohan when she's with Aria and Asher at some point, learns he's single and getting pressured into marrying and Mielle's like "I'll take him, he's mine now <3 (mostly jokingly but she is serious in wanting to court him)" with Aria cheering her on meanwhile Lohan and Asher are like "whats happening"
- Family bonding! I want scenes where the girlbosses are hyping each other up! I want Mielle and Carin to get along!! I want Emma to become fond of Aria and protect her too!!!
- idk if I should make the count and Cain redeemable or end it with Carin and Chloe just adopting Mielle specifically lmao
- Have you considered that Aria has two hands? Oscar/Aria/Asher BABEEEEEEY I don't think this would actually work out in the end, but the thought is there so I'm slapping it down.
Title: Cat and Mouse
Tags: Asterope Franz/Mielle Roscente, Oscar Frederick/Aria Roscente
Summary: The cat chased the mouse, then the mouse chased the cat, only for the cat to come and chase the mouse again…
Timid and compliant, Mielle had always done whatever her stepsister Aria wanted to befriend her, only for Aria to back stab her in the end and rob her of everything.
Mielle goes back in time, casts away her complacency, and leads Aria to her downfall as revenge. Only this would make Aria come back in time once she perished only for it to all start again.
And then Mielle goes back in time to turn the tables only for Aria to do the same the next time, an eternal game of cat and mouse.
Isn’t there some way the Cat and the Mouse can escape this fate?
Ramblings: Idea from this other post by jeweled-blue-eyes. 10/10 ideas bangers only
- in the tags they mention either this was their world's god just wanting to entertain themselves or Aria creating a paradox and the world trying to correct itself.
- sorry to say my first thought for the former was "they should fist fight god"
- not sure which I like most for this so this is a decision for future me <3
- thinking maybe they both wake up in the, idk, 91st time loop to realize they've just been playing cat and mouse and they're tired bro
- maybe they get together, call a truce since they just want to stop the endless looping and decide a winner once ans for all!
- but then they get to see each other in different timeloops. Maybe through flashbacks or some other magical power.
- And they realize, ok we both deserve happy endings.
- apologies and promises to work together yaaaaaay realistically I'm not sure how well a simple apology would go after killing each other over and over again would work, but well, well
- OG timeline when Mielle was meeker, Aria and Mielle fell for Oscar, but Mielle left him to Aria as she always deferred to her whims. Only to meet Asher later and him comforting her and them falling in love.
- Therefore I'm gonna go with Oscar/Aria and Asher/Mielle, so sorry to everyone who likes canon pairings, I'm just a noncanon romance loving hobgoblin
- feel like I'm not serious enough to tackle this particular concept, but maybe I will try,,,,
No thoughts, only Asher/Mielle and Aria/Oscar oneshots because I'm pretty sure I am the only Asher/Mielle enjoyer and Aria/Oscar needs more.

Summary: You are [Sumire] [Yoshizawa] and you have just been convicted of a crime you never did. You can’t help, but wonder why things had started to go so wrong for you.
It seems just until a month ago your life was perfect. But something about it all just didn’t feel right to you. Somehow it felt like…you weren’t supposed to be continuing your gymnastics or even going to school anymore. It wasn’t from a lack of interest, after all, you loved gymnastics! But in the back of your mind something was telling you that this was all wrong. Things started going downhill and now you're staying with a family friend until it all blows over.
But as the nagging feeling continues to grow, keeping a low profile becomes easier said than done as you chase for the answer to the question: “Just what isn’t right with our reality?“
You are [Sumire] [Yoshizawa] and you have just been convicted of a crime you never did. You can’t help, but wonder why things had started to go so wrong for you.
It seems just until a month ago your life was perfect. You were a star gymnast working hard to compete internationally with your beloved twin [Kasumi] [Yoshizawa]. Not only that, but you had just been accepted to your first choice high school.
After you became more aware of that nagging feeling, things started to go downhill. You weren’t up to snuff in your gymnastics anymore, and your coach told you to take a break until you sorted yourself out. And once going home late after a lonely solo training session you pushed yourself through, you found a man trying to force himself on a woman!
Of course, you couldn’t just stand by so you helped pry the man’s arms off of the woman. You had every intention of you and the woman making a break for it, but the man, horribly drunk, fell on his face as he tried to lunge for you both.
“Damn brat, I’ll sue!” He yelled at you. The woman tried to defend you, but the man said he would reveal how she had been helping him embezzle money if she didn’t accuse you of hurting him.
Eventually, the commotion did indeed summon the police and both the man and woman accused you of hurting him. You were promptly arrested and charged with assault. This caused your new high school to expel you and your coach was forced to remove you from the gymnastics team permanently…
Now you are living with a friend of your father's and are set to start attending Shujin Academy. Your job is to make sure you keep your head down while all of this blows over, but…
As the nagging feeling grows, keeping a low profile becomes easier said than done as you chase for the answer to the question: “Just what isn’t right with our reality?“
Originally was gonna be posted on tumblr. And I was working on the first chapter, but then that depression hit and I started hating everything I made so <3
It's still in the back of my mind though so slaps it here. Since idk if I'll ever actually get around to completing any of this these ramblings will most definitely be full of spoilers for what I was gonna do lol
- I think I made it fairly obvious that the MC who I say is you/Sumire is actually the real Kasumi.
- With the Phantom Thieves accepting the new world Maruki created, Philemon sought out a new wild card to set things right.
- The real Kasumi was revived for this purpose, but since Sumire was currently assuming her identity, Kasumi was forced to assume Sumire's unbeknownst to both of them.
- Philemon did a partial reset, such as making the conflict between Shido and Ren happen between Shido and Kasumi instead. He sprinkled around cracks in Maruki's reality since it was about all he could do. He did so in the hopes that those with the potential to fight back could come to realize things weren't as they seemed.
- In the new world a lot of people's lives were improved, but not everyone accepted the new reality wholly. While most, if not all, acted like normal, in the back of their minds the same nagging feeling washing over Kasumi was nagging at them too.
- These people would be Kasumi's confidants and some would go to become her Phantom Thieves. But instead of Thieves I was gonna make them Detectives <3
- Kasumi's initial Persona was gonna be Herlock Sholmes, who Arsene Lupin has gone against in Leblanc's works. Herlock would, of course, eventually become the ultimate persona Sherlock Holmes.
Back to the party members though:
Amongst the ones to join Kasumi's band of Detectives is Akechi who rejected Ren's decision to the end. He finds Kasumi and isn't able to tell her the truth of her situation (her actually being the real Kasumi). It seems the new reality simply won't allow it. But Kasumi still seems to find this new reality suspicious so he joins up with her with the hopes she won't repeat Ren's mistake in the end.
- At first he calls Kasumi by her surname, but he does the same with Sumire. As their social link progressed Kasumi was gonna convince him to call her "Sumi" since having him call both her and her sister Yoshizawa was "too confusing".
- Was gonna give him a new Persona, Boston. Boston is based on Boston Blackie, a jewel thief turned detective made by Jack Boyle. Felt it fitting since he goes from Phantom Thief to joining Kasumi's Detectives.
Another is Mishima who, while thriving in this new world, continues to feel like nothing about this is right. Eventually he starts noticing inconsistencies in his memories. It becomes a problem as he becomes unable to accept or refuse the new reality, ultimately becoming a shut in, scared of the reality he's seeing before him, but unable to escape it. Kasumi and the Detectives have to pull him out from the depths of his palace to help him wholly reject and rebel against the current reality. He replaces Futaba as both the navigator and the hermit confidant for Kasumi.
- he's more confidant in the new reality, this causes him to worry about how things will work out once they revert to the old reality. Despite his worries, he does still believe it's better to live in their old reality instead of this one.
- ngl I wasn't sure who to give him as a persona. So I didn't and was just like "we'll cross that bridge when we get there <3" my mind is still drawing a blank so if you got suggestions feel free to slap them down thank you~
And Hifumi!! She replaces Haru as the Empress confidant for Kasumi. Reality was rewritten so her life had always been peachy keen, but as she continues to hang out with Ren, her memories become jumbled. Eventually she comes to realize the reality before her and her memories weren't aligning anymore. She doesn't believe living in this reality is a good thing, even if her life seemed to be better for it. Thus she joins up with Kasumi. My idea for her persona wasn't a detective. Instead it was going to be Liang. Based off of Zhuge Liang the strategist.
Just pretend there's a pretty picture here with Shiho Suzui and the Lovers smacked on top of it HSDKFHDKFJS
Shiho would replace Ann as the Lovers confidant. She's loving enjoying her life with Ann, but comes to realize that she wasn't supposed to be seeing Ann as often anymore was she? She gets the feeling she went through something major and it wasn't just her parents moving away. While on the roof waiting for Ann she remembers what happened and runs from the roof as all the memories begin to overrun her mind and confuse her. But as she calms down and begins to realize this reality isn't right, she wants to go back to the original, she has to face what happened and move forward. And she wants Ann to do so too. Therefore she joins Kasumi.
- also couldn't think of a persona. I feel like! I had an idea for it! And then I can't find it in any of my drafts on the tumblr blog or anywhere rip in pieces (fun fact: I haven't learned my lesson of terrible scattered notes btw <3) so suggestions are welcome for her as well thank you <3
Not sure who else to add. That was also gonna be a bridge to jump when I got there god bless.
- Ideally I wanted enough party members to place against each remaining member of the Phantom Thieves in a final battle sort of beat (Kasumi and Goro against Sumire and Ren, Shiho against Ann, Hifumi against Haru, Mishima against Futaba...)
- I was gonna make OCs to fill in the spots, but as I was writing more I thought that wouldn't have been as impactful?
- Mayhaps I develop Nakaoka more and use him as Ryuji's sort of counterpart,,,,
- I don't know if I should add Shinya and/or some of the other adult confidants as party members?
"The Show Must Go On!"
- Kasumi's All-Out Attack finishing phrase was gonna be "The show must go on!"
- I had an ending envisioned where Philemon would tell everyone that their memories of spending time with Kasumi would be completely gone once everything was back to normal.
- This caused them to begin to offer some resistance to changing things back as they've grown close to her. Kasumi, manages to convince them to go through with it in the end.
- After the final battle and as things start to turn to normal Kasumi is the first to go, disappearing.
- Philemon gives the Detectives one last opportunity to say goodbye in front of Kasumi's grave and they all tearfully say that even if they forget their memories it doesn't change how important she had been to them.
- After they all turn from the grave together as reality starts warping around them and as their memories disappear and things are reset they say one final thing, "The Show Must Go On!" Kasumi's spirit watches them fondly as everything is reset, no regrets.
