Chapter 1: Meetings
Chapter Text
Jimmy and Scott.
Scott and Jimmy.
The two were well known. Nearly everyone in the school knew they were dating! And that was okay with them. The few people who weren't aware they were together, at least knew they were inseparable.
The two had been together for years, and it had just been those two, and nothing looked like it was going to change that.
They were constantly caught with flowery gifts from the other and they quickly earned themselves a name among the other students- hell even the teachers referred to them as it! "Flower husbands". A sweet name for a nice couple.
However, one student wasn't aware of how close they were.
And that students name, was Tango Tek.
Tango had recently moved from the other side of the country for his parent's work, and so he had to transfer schools.
And he chose the Minecraftia High School because while there were several good schools around, this was the only one with people that he knew. But still then he only knew a handful of people, he knew Impulse, and his brother Skizz, Zedaph and Joker. He was quickly getting to know some of their other friends too, but he still didn't know too many people.
So the first time he saw Jimmy was a shock. He was a stunning canary hybrid, wings on his back large and yellow. He had a poppy in his golden hair and his eyes were a beautiful blue. Tango was smitten and as soon as he could he rushed to find Impulse.
"Impulse!! I have to ask you something!"
"Hm? What's up Tango?"
"Who's the uhm, blonde canary hybrid with a blue denim jacket?"
"Oh? You mean Jimmy? Did he have a flower on him somewhere?"
"Yeah! He had a poppy in his hair!"
"Yep that's Jimmy alright. How come you're asking?"
"Oh uhm- no reason! I just saw him talking with uh- Cleo before and wondered who he was."
"Ah alright then. I shood probably go now, I've got a redstone practical next and professor LilMango will not be happy if I bring my bag."
"Oh alright- I'll see you later then Impy!"
"Cya!"
And so Tango was left to deal with these new feelings alone. Jimmy huh... that's a pretty name...
~■|○|■~
When he saw Scott for the first time he was speechless. Scott had just entered building class, and my god was Tango stunned. The cyan hair stood out and Tango could only think about how bright it was as he saw Scott's eyes. Oh those eyes. Teal a shade only slightly darker than the cyan in his hair. They reminded him of the ocean. Speaking of, he had fins of the side of his head where ears would have been. So some kind of fish maybe then...
The teacher entered the classroom and everyone went silent. Everyone except Tango had sat down, and he felt slightly awkward about standing at the wall.
"Ah! Afternoon class, as you'll probably have noticed we have a new student." She motioned to Tango and he felt two dozen or so pairs of eyes on him. "So I'm your teacher for building class, Mrs Taylor. Is there anyone in the room that you know?"
Tango looked around and saw Zedaph smiling at him from a seat in the back corner of the class.
"I um, I know Zedaph."
"Alright! Lucky for you there's a spare place next to him so go sit down then I'll do the register and then we'll get started!"
Tango ushered himself to his seat and sat down, not paying attention to any other names in the register except his own, and eyeing the cyan haired boy to see which name he responded to.
"Scott?"
"Here."
Scott huh?
Tango could have melted from his voice. It was a singsong voice with an accent behind it, one he couldn't quite place his finger on but a nice accent none the less.
"Tango you good?" Zed whispered to him while the teacher rambled about something building related.
"Huh? Oh yeah, you know building isn't my fortes, I'm just trying to understand it all"
It wasn't at all like he'd been stealing glances at Scott, having now noticed that he wore a similar poppy on his jacket as Jimmy had in his hair. He wondered if they were close...
"Tango and Zed, I understand that it's Tango's first day but it would be appriciated if you didn't talk. "
"Oh! My apologies Mrs! It's just that Tango didn't take building classes in his old school so I was just helping him understand some of the more complex words you were saying."
"I see. If he has any more questions then he can either confront me about them or ask you after class. I'll let you off but try not to speak for now." And with that she went back to teaching the class about texturing.
~■|○|■~
As soon as building class was over he immediately rushed to his next lesson.
He knew that he had redstone class next, and when he reached the classroom he sighed in both relief and slight disappointment that neither Scott or Jimmy were there. He didn't know if he could handle another lesson of gawking at how pretty one of them or both of them are.
He walked in and the teacher greeted him.
"Ah! You must be Tango! I'm professor LilMango. I had your friend Impulse before this and he let me know some of the students you might already know so you could be more comfortable. The only person that's got a spare place next to them from the list is Xisuma, but if you want to sit next to someone else instead then tell me now and I'm sure I can move some people around."
It took Tango a moment to register who it was before it clicked. When Impulse had introduced him he'd said his name differently and he went on to say that people called him all sorts, he wasn't too bothered about it though.
"Oh no that's okay. Thanks for the offer but I'm fine sitting next to 'Suma"
The professor nodded and turned to the computer at the front of the room, and Tango rushed himself to the seat next to Xisuma.
"Hey! Tango right?"
"Yeah" Tango smiled at the other, and then the register was being read out and the lesson started.
~■|○|■~
"Scott love?"
"Hm? What's up sunflower?"
The two were currently cuddling on Scott's bed, with Jimmy running his hand through Scott's hair.
"Did you see the new kid today?"
"Yeah, he's in building class with me, his name is Tango. How come?"
"I-I don't know. I just felt something when I saw him, a feeling I only get when I see and am with you"
Scott removed Jimmy's hand from his head, to which Jimmy let out a disappointed sigh, and held it with his own.
"Love?"
"Yes?"
"No. Is the feeling love?"
Jimmy was taken aback by the question. Neither of the two knew him well, and Jimmy did think he was kind of cute, sure. But he was with Scott. And for all he knew, Tango could be an absolute jerk.
"No? Or at least I don't think so? I don't-"
"It's okay. To be honest with you I'm the same. He's quite cute and has a nice voice. But I still love you and now I'm a bit confused."
"Maybe we could talk to him tomorrow? I saw him hanging out with some of the hermits, we could probably use that as an excuse to talk to him, we want to get to know him better because he's a friend of friends. If we see him with Grian or Pearl it would probably be best considering- y'know- they're my siblings."
"Yeah, that should work. Look at you go," Scott kissed the other on the cheek, "being all smart"
Jimmy chuckled and pulled Scott closer, kissing his head before returning his hand to his hair and lapsing back into silence as the two cuddled.
~■|○|■~
"Oh- flower husbands are coming over" Cleo nodded as they interrupted the conversation between themselves, Pearl, Joe, Grian, and Tango.
"Timmy!"
Everyone turned to where Grian had ran off to to hug the "Timmy" person.
And oh. Tango's heart jumped when he saw that Timmy was Jimmy, and flower husbands was in reference to Jimmy and Scott.
"Scott S Major. You should have at least messaged me that Timmy was staying at yours!!"
Pearl walked up to the trio and dragged the two avians to the circle of people, with Scott trailing behind as the rest of the group chuckled.
"Tango, this is mine and Grian's brother Jimmy, and his boyfriend Scott. Scott, Jimmy, this is Tango, he's new here."
"Uhm- hi-" Tango had to stop himself from saying something stupid.
Of course the two people he finds attractive are in a relationship- and of course they're in a relationship with each other.
"Hey!" Jimmy smiled warmly and Tango's heart fluttered.
"Hey Tango! You're in my building class aren't you? I think I remember seeing you there yesterday."
"Oh uhm, yeah I am."
Scott nodded and Tango's heart felt heavy as he rested his head on Jimmy's shoulder.
"Sorry to butt into this introduction here, but I felt like I should mention this now because I would feel rude just leaving, but I need to go now because I have a literacy exam next and to prevent cheating I have to put my bag away and I also need to be there 10 minutes earlier than normal for some reason so I'm going to do that now- Apologies-"
"All good Joe, go to your exam." Cleo nodded
Everyone waved Joe off and then attention was back on Grian and Scott.
"I'm still upset you didn't tell me that Timmy was staying at your house. Do you know how long it took for me to calm down? I was worried!"
Pearl patted Grian's shoulder and whispered something to him. And then she exclaimed that the two of them had somewhere to be and Cleo needed to go with. Cleo looked slightly confused but went anyway. Leaving only Tango, Jimmy and Scott stood there.
"So Tango?" Jimmy speaking brought Tango back from the near gay panic as he was left alone with his two crushes who he knew basically nothing about.
"Hm?"
"What's your favourite subject?"
"Huh? Oh uhm, probably redstone-"
"Woah- Are you actually good at it? Oh- uhm no offence ment-"
"None taken. And yeah I'd say I'm good at it. Technical stuff is very much my kinda stuff"
And then the three were talking as though they'd known each other their entire lives, with Scott and Jimmy listening to everything Tango said about redstone engineering attentively, and Tango and Jimmy obsessing over how good Scott was with building cute things, and Tango and Scott reassuring Jimmy when he said he wasn't that good with anything like that.
All in all, the trio got on well with each other. And if any of them noticed the blush that formed on their cheeks as they chatted they didn't point it out.
Eventually the bell rang and Scott and Tango disappeared to building class while Jimmy went to terraforming class.
~■|○|■~
"Tango. Real quick, wait for me and Jimmy after school. Want to ask you something but because we aren't in the same class now I'll have to wait."
"Huh? Oh- yeah okay." Tango nodded and then Scott rushed off to reach his next lesson.
Tango himself had terraforming next, but all he could think about was what on earth Scott and Jimmy would want to ask him.
Chapter Text
And so Tango waited for the two after school was done, and then the two appeared and immediately engaged him in conversation and it came so easily to him. It felt like the three had known each other their entire lives and if not for Tango having lived on the other side of the country for as long as he could remember, they all would have believed it.
His heart jumped when either of them spoke to him, and he was sure that his face was red as he listened to the taller men talk. And then Scott would say something flirtatious, or either of them would give the other a quick kiss somewhere on their face, and Tango's heart would sink, and then whenever they looked down to talk to him again, it immediately lifted again.
That was another thing, both of them were taller than him. Like, Scott was the tallest of the three, with Jimmy not that far behind him. And then Tango was a fair amount shorter than both of them. And Tango had never been big into the dating game, but oh void he was definitely into taller men-
And then before Tango knew it he was saying goodbye to the pair as he got on the bus and they began to walk to one of their houses.
And now he thought of it Scott never asked him that question he said he wanted to...
~■|○|■~
Tango became a lot more comfortable in school and around all the people, and he was actually well liked throughout the school by teachers and students alike.
He grew closer to his old friends and the new ones. Including Scott and Jimmy.
He learned that Jimmy being a canary ment he had rather bad luck with injuries, and tended to get hurt a lot more. And he learned that Scott was actually a shape shifter, not a fish. He learned that a week after joining, when Scott had elf ears instead of the fins he'd had all of the previous week.
His crushes on the pair never went away either, if anything they grew. And he doubted the two would be breaking up anytime soon, so he certainly wouldn't get the chance to ever date one of them. He himself would be okay with a polyamorus relationship, but there was always every chance that neither Scott or Jimmy would even like him back, let alone bring him into their relationship!
Meanwhile on Jimmy and Scott's end they were hoping Tango would get their signals. The two had come to terms with their feelings for the man, and here trying their best to subtly hint at him that they wanted more than just their friendship. They had noticed Tango's blush when they spoke to him, and they had hoped he would notice theirs as well.
He never did, and they were starting to loose hope, but they still kept at it, just in case.
And then, it all came to head on the day before spring break.
~■|○|■~
"Soooo- any luck with Tango?" The ginger voiced.
Cleo and Pearl were currently speaking with Scott, Jimmy having been dragged off by Joel and Grian for whatever reason.
"Nope, not yet. Honestly me and Jimmy are starting to think he's never going to pick up on the signs, we're getting kind of worried." Scott nodded at where Tango was talking with Impulse and Zedaph.
"Ah, that's never good- I mean, I know for a fact he likes you guys, but I think he's afraid maybe."
"I agree with Pearl here, Scott."
"Afraid?" Scott questioned the two
Pearl nodded. "Yeah, obviously he's not even known you two for a full year, he probably doesn't think you and Jimmy would invite another into your relationship, especially him. Things like that tend to happen with crushes y'know? He'll probably be telling himself that yours and Jimmy's blush you have when you're around him is because of each other. He's gonna be doubting that you like him-"
Cleo nodded too, "Pearl is right about all that. He's probably gonna have noticed your signs, but he'll probably be denying the fact he saw them and just try convince himself he misunderstood you guys."
"Really? Oh god that makes it a lot more complicated- I mean-"
"I think you should just flirt with him to his face. Ask him on a date or something. Have Jimmy there too and let him in on the plan. That way Jimmy can go along with it too and he'll finally stop being an idiot."
"Who's being an idiot?" Tango questioned as he entered himself in the conversation.
"Oh! Just some person in one of my classes, real annoying sometimes-" Pearl instantly responded.
"Ah, I see. That sucks." Tango stuck out his tongue and Cleo gave Scott a knowing look.
At that moment Jimmy came over, with Joel trailing behind him.
"Hey Scott, I think you should just do what I told you, mkay?"
Scott nodded and everyone who had just gotten there looked at each other confused.
"Joel! I need you for something!" Pearl suddenly blurted out
"Me?"
"Yes you! Come!" Pearl dragged Joel off, saying something to him when they were out of earshot from the group.
Jimmy chuckled. "Well that was something-"
Tango nodded "Yeah"
Scott poked Jimmy and whispered something, much to Tango's confusion.
He saw Jimmy blush slightly before nodding, which allowed Scott's face to flush slightly, and so Tango just figured they were flirting or something.
Cleo looked around the room until she spotted a clock, "Ah! Sorry but I have to leave! I promised Joe I'd meet up with them at this time- Bye guys!" Cleo rushed off.
She had no plans to meet up with Joe, she just knew exactly what Scott and Jimmy were on about, and wanted to give them privacy. And by privacy, they were hidden around the corner with their phone out ready to record the conversation that was about to happen any second now.
"So... Your eyes look nice-" Jimmy started. "I never really noticed how nice they are"
Tango flushed slightly- "Oh uh- thanks-"
Scott chuckled. "He's not wrong. They're incredibly pretty. I can got lost in them so easily."
It was easy to see who was better at flirting.
And Tango could feel the heat in his cheeks as they both flirted. With him.
"I- uhm-"
Jimmy nodded. "Agreed. I need a map or something i'm so lost. Or not, it's warm there, I don't think I need a map actually because I don't plan on getting out anytime soon."
Okay- Jimmy could also flirt. And Tango was blushing like a madman-
"Uhm- Can- can I ask what brought this on?" Tango voiced, ignoring the way his voice pitched, and how he was definitely enjoying it more than he thought he should.
Scott rolled his eyes and Jimmy placed a hand on Tango's shoulder.
"Oh Tango, we really like you. Have you not noticed? We want to ask you out-" Jimmy was blushing as he spoke, and Scott was grinning while he looked at the two men he loved the most.
"Basically Tango, would you like to go on a date with us tomorrow, no school, and we know a great spot!"
And all Tango could do was nod. He was certain his face was red, and he was so grateful that his next two classes didn't have either of them in it because he would have died if he looked at them any longer.
Cleo meanwhile, stopped recording them and immediately sent the video to Pearl.
~■|○|■~
And so the next day rolled around, and Tango was stressing over what to wear.
He never thought he'd be this panicky about his clothes, but he was going on a date with his crushes of- however many months!!
Ultimately he picked out a calm red shirt, with plain blank leggings, and a chain that attached to them. He wore 2 inch platform boots and pulled on a small black backback.
He quickly brushed his hair and then he was out the door.
He had been told to meet Scott and Jimmy at the park, and they'd lead him from there. And so when he got there the two were waiting for him, and oh void - Tango fell in love all over again-
Scott was wearing a plain white shirt, but with a colourblock jacket and a magenta corset, with navy blue pants and white platform boots. 'Like he needed to be taller'
Jimmy on the other hand was wearing a white top as well, but with a brown vest and black pants, his shoes basic black trainers.
It was clear to see who put more effort into their outfit-
"Tango!" Jimmy called out and grinned a goofy grin which Tango just associated with him now.
Meanwhile Scott smiled at him and waved him over.
"So," Tango all of a sudden felt butterflies- he didn't believe he was actually here-, "where is this 'magical date spot' you told me all about this morning."
"Well just follow my lead sir" Scott grinned and held out his hand for him, and Tango's heart jumped.
Tango took his hand and then Jimmy grabbed his other. And then they were leading him to an area of secluded bushes and trees towards the corner of the park, and then they swiftly made they way around them and Tango gasped.
They had taken him to a beautiful part of the park, full of flowers and birds. It looked like it had been taken straight from a movie.
"So?" Jimmy asked nervously
"It's beautiful- Wow-"
Jimmy chuckled and then took the lead of the chain they had going on and led them to a lime blanket led underneath the shade of a tree, with a small basket next to it as it looked over the stunning view.
The three sat down and started a picnic, with Tango complimenting how good the food was, with Jimmy responding with a thanks, to which both Scott and Jimmy laughed as Tango awed at how good Jimmy was at cooking and baking.
Eventually the three got to talking about- well- them-
"So Tango, I think now would be a good time to actually address the reason why we wanted you here."
Tango nodded, as the reality at why he was here once again slammed into him like a truck
"Well, we both really like you. We think you're smart and talented, and handsome too- and we'd love for you to be our boyfriend, all three of us together. But, only if you're okay with that."
Tango grinned before answering.
"I'd love that! You have no idea how long i've been fawning over the both of honestly-"
Scott grinned "Oh you're been fawning over us have you? That's adorable. Caught your eyes huh pretty boy?"
Jimmy chuckled "Leave him be love, he's already flustered enough."
"Awhhh, but he's so cute when he's blushing"
Tango was listening to the two talking about him as though he wasn't there, and his face was nearly the same shade as his top. "Uhm- I feel like I should probably mention that this is my first time being in a relationship."
"Oh? That's fine Tango! We can talk more about it later, for now I'm done with the serious talk. I'll be right back." Jimmy chirped, like he actually chirped after speaking, bird things, and stood up, wiping invisible dust off his pants.
Tango nodded at him and Scott led against the trunk of the tree they were all sitting under and smiled at Jimmy, before the canary quickly left the two to do whatever.
"Sooo, you've never been in a relationship before?"
"That's correct."
"No worries pretty boy, I'll be happy to help you out, and I'm sure Jimmy will be too."
Tango chuckled "Thanks. You keep calling me pretty though, and uhm, well I don't feel like you can say much about that because you're very pretty yourself-"
"Awww I'm glad you think so, always good to be attracted to your boyfriend."
Boyfriend... Tango liked that.
"But are you okay with being called pretty?"
"Huh?"
"I mean, you've never been in a relationship before, so I assume you don't really know your boundaries and things you like or don't like in a relationship. And neither me nor Jimmy want to make you uncomfortable, so I have to check. How do you feel about being called pretty?"
" Oh! I uhm, I'm certainly not opposed to it. I like it when you call me pretty..." Tango's checks were dusted pink as he trailed off, and Scott just smiled at him.
"That's good then, thanks for telling me pretty boy."
"I-uhm-yeah-"
Scott chuckled and opened his arms, inviting Tango to come closer, and hug him. Such a simple act yet one Tango loved.
The two just sat in the shade of the tree, with Tango leaning against Scott, while they chatted about whatever came to mind while they waited for Jimmy to come back.
Eventually Jimmy ran up with an armful of flowers, an array of reds, cyans, purples, and yellows on display.
"Sorry it took me so long! I was struggling to find the dandelions!" He layed the flowers down on the blanket and smiled at the others.
"You're fine, me and Tango were fine just talking to each other while waiting."
Tango nodded in agreement before looking at the flowers Jimmy had collected. "What's with all the flowers?"
Jimmy laughed slighty before announcing they were going to make flower crowns for each other. Jimmy would make one for Tango, Tango for Scott, and Scott for Jimmy.
And so they chose the flowers and started weaving them together to form the crown.
Once they were done they placed them on each others heads and all smiled as the realisation set in that this was them. They were happy now and they'd continue to be for a long time.
They then spoke more about their relationship, and Tango mentioned that him not being in a relationship before also meant he'd never kissed anyone before or been kissed himself. To which Scott & Jimmy immediately kissed him on a cheek each, and then, after checking it was okay, each kissed him individually. And Tango has now the colour of the flowers in his hair.
And as the three looked at each other, they realised that if they were to die then, they'd die happy.
