Doyoung stared at Jaemin. Now that they were seated on the bench together, the older could see that Jaemin was on his phone. Doing what? Doyoung heard a small "if only he were gay" from the younger and figured it was high time to investigate. "What are you looking at?"

"Nothing," Jaemin sung back, a smile on his face that proved he was lying.

"Okay, let me repeat myself. Who are you looking at?"

"Nobody."

"The smile on your face says otherwise."

Jaemin rolled his eyes. "I'm looking at my crush. Now leave me alone."

Doyoung started up his critical thinking. He wasn't in the scholar sector for nothing, after all. The fact was that Jaemin only really hung out with the Dreamies. The only two straight Dreamies were Mark (to a certain degree— Doyoung did catch him and Johnny making out just a day ago) and Jeno. "I'm sorry, but Jeno doesn't like anyone right now. Also, he's straight."

Jaemin seemed to freeze. "How'd you know?"

"You wished he was gay, and we know damn well that Mark has always been last place for any of your friends you would like. Him getting in a relationship just lowers him more. As for Jeno, he just makes the most sense overall."

That was true. Everything Doyoung said, in fact. Jeno was straight, as much as Jaemin hated to admit, so he'd just have to learn to move on eventually.

"Okay," Jaemin said. "Can I just let myself like him for the rest of the month? I'll go into the New Year with no Lee Jeno on my mind as anything more than a friend."

"I can't tell you what to d—"

"You're my mother."

Doyoung sighed. "If it helps you sleep at night, who am I to stop you?"

"That settles it." Jaemin grinned. "New Year, No Jeno."

"Alright."

"..."

"What?"

"I will be treating him with more affection, though."

"Alright then. Have fun being crazy for the next 30 days."

Jaemin was the first one at the table during lunch, and Jeno followed soon after. Though all of the seats were open, Jeno sat next to  him.  Yes, that was normal, but it affected Jaemin a little more now that he had decided that would show his love to Jeno.

As the others started arriving, Jaemin made sure that he was subtle. He slowly snaked an arm around Jeno, his hand moving every once in a while to scratch the older's nape. Sure, eating a sandwich was damn near impossible with one hand, but this was a part of Jaemin's process. As much as he didn't want to admit, he would have to move on from Jeno eventually. The latter was straight, after all.

"Jaemin!"

Jaemin turned at the sudden, highly aggressive call of his name, finding that Renjun, Chenle, and Jisung were staring at him. "Um, hi."

"You were spacing out," Chenle said, as if it was't obvious before.

Jaemin looked around the table, finally paying attention. "Where's Mark?"

"You really weren't paying attention, huh?" Donghyuck nodded his head towards the 127 table. "He's sitting with his boyfriend."

"How fun." Jaemin looked down at his lunch, scratching at Jeno's nape once more. "Let me go get some tissues."

Jaemin left his seat to go hunt some down. Once he'd finally located them, he turned around to find Renjun was right behind him. "Oh , hi."

"You're acting weird."

"I am?"

"You're..." Renjun tilted his head, as though he was trying to figure out a way to say things properly. "...extra clingy. To Jeno."

"What? We've been best friends since forever. It's normal."

"It's really not. What's up?"

"It's..." Jaemin didn't know if he should tell Renjun. There were 29 more days of his suffering, so he might as well just let the older know. "Um, okay, don't tell anyone this..."

"That is the exact same thing that Lucas, Yangyang, and Mark said to me before telling me they had a crush."

"Well..."

Renjun eyes widened. "Don't tell me you have a crush on..." Jaemin slowly nodded, confirming Renjun's suspicions. "Jaemin, he's straight."

"Yeah, I know." Now Jaemin had to explain his whole setup for the month. "But just for the rest of the month! I'm going to go into the New Year without a crush on a straight guy."

"Jaemin." Renjun's tone was so condescending, as though he was disappointed. Of course he was. "Giving him more affection isn't going to help you get over him."

"I'll start getting over him during the break. Then I won't see him."

Renjun slowly nodded, still processing what Jaemin had said. "Okay... okay. Let's go."

"Check."

"Man, fuck you." Mark shoved the board, moving the pieces slightly.

Jaemin quickly fixed the pieces, gesturing for Mark to continue. "Your turn."

Mark just pushed a pawn forwards, and Jaemin's queen slid in to trap his king. "And... checkmate."

"I hope you choke on your own shit and die."

"You don't mean that." Jaemin grinned, happy that he'd won again. "Another round?"

Renjun entered Jaemin's room, back from the kitchen with a cup of tea in his hands. "I think you've destroyed his soul, Jaemin." He set the tea down on Jaemin's desk. "We've got to talk about someone else who needs to keep himself in check."

"Not this again." Jaemin sighed, leaning back onto his elbows. "I'm not going to go feral when I see him."

"I can never be sure with you."

Mark looked between the two of them, confusion written all over his face. "Who are we talking about?"

"Shit, I forgot you were here." Renjun shook his head. "It doesn't concern you." He then turned back to Jaemin. "You're not going too overboard, you hear me?"

"Aye-aye, captain."

Jaemin invited Jeno over the next day, just the two of them, as always. Jeno always enjoyed spending his weekends with the younger, a small habit that they had kept up since the dawn on time. They were always affectionate with each other, being as close as they were.

Jeno found it a little weird that everyone in his friend group had a little bit of gay in them. Mark didn't count as straight at this point, and even Jaemin, who was just queer, liked guys. Doyoung, in all of his complicated identity, still liked guys. Unpacking everything, it seems as though the only person that Jeno knew who didn't like men in some way was Taeil, but Taeil was aroace.

Anyways, moving on from Jeno's "does surrounding myself with homosexuality make me gay????" pipeline, he sat down on Jaemin's bed next to the him.

"Oh, there's this new music video that just came out..." Jaemin popped open his laptop, focused eyes darting across the screen. It was common practice for Jeno to watch as things like this happened, his mind always curious, but he found himself looking at Jaemin rather than the laptop. His long eyelashes, the perfectly round curve of his nose, the permanent smile that he had on around Jeno adorning his lips. Jeno always stared at the homies, truth be told, but he always thought of it as him observing the people he loved around him. After all, what if one of them were to be kidnapped and he had to describe them? He could correctly place all of Donghyuck's moles, count the brushstrokes needed to make Mark's eyebrows, and perfectly imitate Jisung's voice if need be. A little staring didn't matter!

Still, Jeno noticed that looking at Jaemin felt different from any time he'd watch Johnny change (just in case, you might need to clock in someone's dick size!). He felt warm in his chest. He felt really happy. It was a feeling that he hadn't felt in a while, of course, but he knew the feeling all too well. That was how he felt when he liked someone... but he was straight.

Obviously, this was just Jeno thinking about a girl. Right? He just happened to be spacing out to think about a girl while looking at Jaemin. Yes! That had to be it! Sexuality crisis averted!

Wait, what sexuality crisis? Jeno was straight. As far as he was concerned, he was straight.

"Jeno!"

"Huh?"

Jaemin tsked. "Pay attention! I wanna show the people I like the music I like."

As Jaemin snaked an arm around Jeno, the latter blushed. Surely, Jaemin just meant that he wanted to show the people he liked to be around the music he liked. Obviously. The blush was probably because it was hot in Jaemin's room. Obviously. And Jaemin could hold him close, they had been friends for years! As close as he wanted. Fuck, that sounded wrong.

Jeno was friends with Jaemin. That was his point.

Jeno jogged back into the locker room alongside his classmates, sweat dripping down his forehead. He was at his sector afternoon class, of course, and they had been working on endurance the entire time. He was glad that things were over again.

As he unlocked his locker, the others around him started changing. It was nothing out of the blue, of course, and Jeno started his usual rounds of stealing glances at everyone while pretending to get his things ready to hop into the shower.

Well, not pretend! Why would he be pretending to not be focused on getting rid of the layer of sweat on his skin? Why would he be staring at men anyways?

"Jeno."

Jeno snapped his head around, nearly giving himself whiplash in the process. It's Jisung talking to him, an eyebrow raised in suspicion. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Why are you looking at everyone else like that?"

"Well, we're in a locker room." Jeno tugs off his shirt and shoves it into his locker. "It's not my fault if I catch a glance."

"There's a difference between glancing and looking, Jeno." Jisung looked him up and down, and Jeno would've made a statement about things being the other way around if Jisung wasn't right. "And you do it every time. I saw you staring at Johnny's dick last week."

"How would you know?"

"Because I was going to talk to you, but you seemed preoccupied. And I know where Johnny's locker is, so I know where you were looking. Don't make excuses."

"Oh." Maybe Chenle had been right. Jeno was too good of an ally. But he wasn't going to tell Jisung that. "Weird."

"What do you mean 'weird'?" Jisung gave him one last look. "I've got an eye on you, Jeno."

Jeno nodded, watching Jisung walk away. He'd been staring at Jaemin too. And when he looked at Jaemin, he got that warm feeling in his chest. If all of his voluntary staring wasn't just staring but more interest... did that mean that he liked Jaemin?

He thought back to that girl in his class that tried to ask him out last month. He thought she was cute and all (as he did with some of his friends, truth be told), but the happiness in his body didn't kick in. It seemed like Jaemin was the only one who made him feel like that.

God, Jeno really was a really good ally, and it wasn't working in his mental benefit.

Jaemin had one earbud in, the other in Renjun's ear. The two of them were watching a live stage of their favourite group during lunch, stuck in their own world while whatever went on around them. It was quieter at their table, mainly because Mark and Donghyuck had joined 127 while Chenle left Renjun to go do some TMSDT, so it was completely out of the ordinary.

Jaemin sighed dreamily. "God, I want him so bad. I want him to see my infinite hotness. I want him to want me."

On their right, they could feel someone leaning in close to them. Jaemin turned slightly, looking at Jeno's face as he watched the screen.

Jeno sat up straight again, clearing his throat. "He's pretty hot."

Renjun paused the video. Jaemin turned their head all the way. Jisung put down his sandwich.

Jeno just looked at the them, confused. "What did I do?"

"No fucking way." Jaemin leaned over towards the 127 table, needed to inform Mark and Donghyuck about what Jeno just said. They could see Jisung doing the same with Chenle. Within moments, all of the Dreamies were seated, looking at Jeno.

"What?" Jeno repeated. "Guys complimenting other guys has been a thing since forever."

"You don't call people hot."

"I have before." Jeno looked down at his lunch, not as fazed as the rest of the group. "It's literally not a big deal."

"Yes it is," Donghyuck said, a finger on the table.

As the two of them argued, Renjun turned to Jaemin, a certain look in his eyes. Jaemin could tell what he was trying to say. Is this a sign? Jaemin could only shrug. I don't know.

"Jeno." Jisung narrowed his eyes. "Don't even... I know what you've been thinking about."

Jeno's eyes widened. Jaemin wondered what Jisung knew that they didn't. The older quickly narrowed his eyes back, glaring at Jisung. "You don't know jack shit."

Jisung raised an eyebrow, not saying anything else. It was clear that he nor anybody else at the table believed anything that Jeno was saying. Jeno continued talking, however, glad that he wasn't being interrupted. "You guys must be crazy or something."

"This fucker is in a closet made of fucking glass, huh," Renjun whispered under his breath. Jaemin, sitting directly next to him, could hear this. Jeno was definitely implying something based on the way he had reacted to Jisung's slight accusation.

Closet made of glass. One lighthearted comment didn't make Jeno not straight or anything, but he hadn't reiterated his heterosexuality yet. Usually, when something like this happened, he would mention it. Hell, it had just happened last week.

Jaemin sighed, hoping for their sake that what Jeno said was what they hoped it was.

"Guys, I've brought you a friendship gift!"

The Dreamies narrowed their eyes at Jaemin, who rolled his. "Don't look at me like that. Who wants cake?"

Jaemin set down the three containers in front of the group, and everyone scrambled for to share one. Mark, Renjun, and Jisung grabbed the largest to split it between the three of them, Donghyuck and Chenle shared another, and Jeno and Jaemin took the last.

Jeno opened the container, handing Jaemin a fork. "Where did you get this?"

"I baked it."

"It's pretty good," Chenle noted, almost done with his half of the cake already.

Jaemin nodded. "Thank you."

Jeno took a bite of their cake first, at Jaemin's request, eyes crinkling at the edges in happiness when the flavour hit his tongue. "Woah, Jaemin, this tastes awesome!"

"You think?" Jaemin was practically glowing the moment that Jeno complimented him, in contrast to Chenle. He caught the look that the rest of the Dreamies shared, but Jaemin seemed to either not notice it or disregard it completely.

"Yeah," Jeno croaked out quietly. "It's really good."

Jeno appreciated the glow that surrounded Jaemin now. It wasn't like the younger hadn't already been extremely happy, but an idea planted itself in his mind. Was Jaemin happier because... of him? It definitely wasn't true, but Jeno could dream.

Why did he want to be the one making Jaemin happy anyways? His staring from just over a week ago entered his mind again. Did... did he like Jaemin?

"Are you just not going to eat any more?"

The moment Jeno saw the smallest bit of a pout on Jaemin's face, he dug his fork back into the cake. The idea of Jaemin feeling fulfilled was something that Jeno wanted to contribute to as much as he could.

Yeah, he didn't think that he could dig himself out of this one. He'd just have to accept it.

Jeno knew damn well that it was a TMSDT day, yet he couldn't be bothered to not talk to Renjun. He walked up to the WayV table, garnering attention. "Renjun, I need to talk to you."

Renjun looked confused, but he slid out of his chair and stood up. Jeno led him out of the lunchroom and into the library, where he turned around to see that Renjun had his arms crossed. "What?"

"Okay. I, um," Jeno sighed. "I have a crush on–"

"Jeno, I know I'm irresistible, but you aren't my type."

"You didn't let me finish!" Jeno crinkled his nose. "And no, I don't like you. Ew."

"I know, calm down. This is about Jaemin, isn't it?"

Renjun already knew? Jeno hadn't said anything to anyone, so was he just that obvious? "You know?"

"I had a hunch." Renjun leaned against the bookshelf, not minding that one of them fell off of it. Jeno glanced at the book cover. Love in Twos. Of course they had stopped in the romance section at a time like this.

"Oh, are you looking at this?" Renjun picked the book up. "It's a really good descriptor for your current situation."

"You've read it?"

"What can I say? I'm a hopeless hopeless romantic." Renjun shelved the book, leaning against the shelf again and hearing it fall down again.

Jeno wanted to point out that Renjun's romantic life wasn't exactly hopeless, but he decided not to. After all, this conversation started because of him. "I don't... what do I do?"

"Confess." Renjun shrugged, knocking another book over. "The worst thing he can say is no."

"Maybe that's the worst thing he can say, but far from the worst he can do."

Renjun snapped a finger in Jeno's face, the movement of his arm knocking another two books onto the ground. "Jeno, have I ever told you my life motto?"

Jeno wanted to pick up the books, but there was no point. "No...?"

"Take risks. Fuck life. Fuck your lifeline."

"What do–"

"In other words: take risks. Fuck life. Fuck the love of your life."

Jeno shook his head. "Wait, and what is this supposed to do for me?"

"Have you not heard a single word that I've said?" Renjun leaned down to start shelving the books, but he shoved them into their spots with so much force that they knocked a few more off. "There are two days until we're off for break. If you dont make a move now, Jaemin might be feeling different when you see each other next year."

"Are you saying he likes me?"

"I'm saying he could and you're wasting an opportunity. So, Jeno, do whatever you wish to. Do what you think is right."

Renjun leaned down to shelf the books again, and Jeno started to help him. The last one he put up was Love in Twos, because of course it was.

Out of curiousity from Renjun mentioning it earlier, Jeno flipped it over. He scanned the back of the book, finding the synopsis relatively mainstream.

Author Park Sang Young delivers a beautiful requited unrequited romance, all the while...

Requited unrequited? Jeno had to guess what that meant. Maybe both parties think the love is... unrequited?

Jeno wanted to ask Renjun, but the older was gone once he looked up.

Jeno spent the next two days trying to think of ways to confess. Could he could maybe buy flowers? That felt too... basic. Making anything was off the table– he was dogshit at baking and cooking, and all he knew (how to crack an egg) was thanks to Jaemin. He didn't want to be boring, but there was nothing drastic he could do.

Renjun nudged Jeno in the side. "Stop overthinking. You have, like, two hours. There's no time to get anything else."

Right. It was lunch on Friday, and this was Jeno's last chance to tell Jaemin anything. Well, not exactly, but Jeno was sure that he wasn't going to be able to rebuild the amount of confidence he'd been accumulating this entire time.

"Then what?"

"I don't know, speak your mind?"

"Yo." Mark poked Renjun in the side. "What're you two whispering about."

"Why the fuck do you think we're whispering?" Renjun flicked his forehead. "Jeno, my motto."

Jeno hummed, continuing to eat his lunch. He still didn't know what he was going to say to Jaemin. He'd been pondering it for what felt like forever. And what if Jaemin didn't even like him? What was he supposed to do then?

After lunch, Jeno was thankful that he didn't have a complete Sports Sector itinerary to do. He turned in his sports therapy research project and spent the rest of the class sitting in the back corner searching up ways to confess. Nothing seemed right.

Once school ended, Jeno returned to his locker, which was right next to Jaemin's as they had picked. He wanted to say something. He wanted to do something. But what exactly?

"Well, I'll be leaving." Jaemin wrapped his arms around Jeno. "See you in the New Year."

No! Jeno's mind started screaming at him. Don't let him go!

Jaemin started retreating down the hallway. Jeno's throat went dry. 

"Jaemin!"

Jaemin turned around. "Hm?"

Jeno didn't know if he wanted to punch himself in the face or thank himself. Jaemin started walking closer, ready to hear whatever Jeno was about to say.

What was Jeno about to say? He stared at Jaemin's face. The same long eyelashes, rounded nose, and cherry lips that he had been staring at for as long as he remembered. How he came to the conclusion of liking Jaemin so late was beyond him.

Jaemin blinked at him. "Are you just–"

"Ilikeyou," Jeno interrupted, squeezing his eyes shut as he felt his face heat up. He took a breath and opened his eyes.

Jaemin's face was blank. "What?"

Jeno pressed his lips together. "I like you, Jaemin."

Any previous worries that Jeno had based on Jaemin's initial reactions immediately cleared his mind when Jaemin's face lit up. He smiled widely, almost giddy. It was a complete 180. "Really?"

"I... I mean, I said it twice," Jeno mumbled.

"Oh my god, this is the best day of my life." Jaemin closed the space between them, pressing his palms against Jeno's cheeks and kissing him.

Jeno blinked. Jaemin likes me back. JAEMIN LIKES ME BACK. JAEMIN LIKES ME BACK!

Before Jeno could do anything, Jaemin pulled back with a grin. Granted, they were still in the middle of the hallway. "I can't believe you like me."

"You think?" Jeno could feel the pink on his cheeks. Jaemin had a bit of a blush as well, but it complimented his hair. Jeno already wanted to kiss him again.

He leaned in for a little peck, watching the smile on Jaemin's face grow. "You can only imagine," the latter hummed. "Hurry up so we can leave."

Jeno quickly finished packing up his things. He closed his locker door, taking Jaemin's hand. "Let's go."

"Whatever you say, boyfriend."

Jeno blushed. "Okay, boyfriend."

It sounded just about right.

Jaemin stared down at his phone, figuring that he would find out what Jeno meant sooner or later. What he didn't predict was that Jeno would video call him at the moment that Jaemin was trying to click at something else on his phone, accidentally picking up the call.

Jaemin's eyes widened, and he dropped his phone flat on its back. It faced the roof, and Jaemin made sure that he wasn't in frame before he started panicking. He was still wearing a face mask which, in the grand scheme of things, shouldn't have been a big deal given that he'd posted himself with one on before, but this was different.

"Uh, Jaemin?"

"Hi," Jaemin exhaled, staring at the mirror in his room while carefully peeling off the mask. "Sorry, I wasn't ready."

"Jaemin, I've seen you at your worst."

"But–"

"I want to see your face, baby," Jeno whined.

Jaemin froze, the mask dangling off his cheeks. Jeno just– and his–

He reached for his phone, propping it up against his pencil holder just so he could stare at Jeno. "Did you just call me baby– no, wait, did you just use aegyo on me?"

Jeno was clearly already in bed at 5pm (me too, Jaemin thought), his Cinnamoroll cap lightly taming his clear bed head. "You look fine."

"There's a face mask dangling off my face."

"I've never liked you more."

Jaemin flushed, thankful for the mask shielding it. He continued to peel it off. "Stop flirting with me."

Jeno sat up in his bed, his hat rolling off onto his pillow. "Let me do it! I have some catching up to do."

Jaemin finished peeling the mask off, bringing his phone with him to the bathroom so he could peel it off. "We should do something before Chenle's Christmas party."

"We should," Jeno hummed. "I will say that I am so happy that Chenle's friends are all my friends."

"Why?"

"We were at his house for his birthday. You saw how big the place is. He could fit so many more people in there."

"Sometimes I forget you're an introvert, Mr. I-have-30K-Instagram-followers-and-I-post-thirst-traps."

Jeno rolled his eyes, sighing heavily. "Oh, come on, name one time I posted a thirst trap."

Jaemin quirked an eyebrow.

"Okay, nevermind, don't. I don't like people that I can see. Except for you."

"Hm, 6/10." Jaemin splashed some water on his face, drying it with one of his towels.

"You're rating them now?"

"Uh, yeah, duh!" Jaemin walked back to his bedroom. "I started all the flirting. I should get a say."

Jeno laughed lightly at that. Jaemin wanted to hear it again. "If it's first dibs, then I think Donghyuck comes before you."

"Don't even get me started on that idiot." Jaemin chose to lay down in his bed this time as he'd been doing before, on his stomach. He held himself up on his forearms, letting his legs kick and swing behind him. "So, about going out. Jeno?"

Jeno turned with a soft hum, his eyes clearly not initially focused on Jaemin.

Jaemin laughed when he realized what Jeno could be looking out. "You were checking yourself out in the little rectangle, weren't you?"

Jeno's face heated up, countering the protests he started to spit out. His reaction was enough for Jaemin to come to a conclusion.

"I can't really blame you," he said slowly, staring at Jeno's (flushed) face.

"...10/10."

Chapter Text

Jaemin sipped on his drink, linking arms with Jeno. "This is nice."

"Yeah." They were about to tuck themselves into the corner of the coffee shop, away from all of the people around them. The coffee shop was already quite empty, and going into the corner where they'd go unnoticed was basically like sitting in an empty room together.

It was nice, Jaemin decided. Emptier areas had always been in his favour, and it seemed as though Jeno also enjoyed having the space to himself.

The couple settled into the booth, talking aimlessly while also keeping a comfortable silence.

"Excuse me?"

Jeno and Jaemin both turn their heads towards the voice, which belongs to a girl who Jaemin could recognize from Bio, which was a class he had with Jeno. She had her eyes on Jeno, clearly nervous as she spoke to him.

Jaemin shouldn't have been surprised. For one, Jeno was still Instagram famous (with 31k now!) and lots of people from their school followed him. Jaemin always saw them in his comment section simping over him. The other thing was that Jeno was still presumed single, especially because he'd have to do the whole coming out thing. He also knew that Jaemin never liked having attention drawn to himself.

"Hi," Jeno said, lightly smiling.

"Hi," the girl exhaled. Jaemin couldn't remember her name for the life of him. "I was just wondering if, um, we could go on a date sometime?"

Jeno froze. It wasn't obvious, but Jaemin could tell. They obviously hadn't been viewed as being on a date because they were always together anyways. To the girl (Yeolie? Yaena? Jaemin really needed to work on names), they just looked like friends that were out.

Jeno scratched at the back of his neck, his mind in overdrive trying to think of something to say. The girl's confidence visbility diminished with every passing second.

"I should go, shouldn't I?" She turned to leave.

"No, Yoonah, I..." Jeno interrupted. "It's not that. It's not that I'm not interested– no, that came out wrong. Um–"

"He's in a relationship," Jaemin said simply, figuring Jeno would never find the words himself at the rate they were going at. "He's dating someone."

Jeno didn't look tense anymore. "Yeah. That."

"Oh." The girl didn't even cast Jaemin a spare glance. "Sorry, then. I wish you and your girlfriend the best."

As she walked away, Jeno sighed. "Girlfriend feels weird."

"Well, you don't have one." Jaemin toyed with Jeno's nape, adoring how long the hair there was starting to get. If Jeno had a mullet, he'd simply just pass away. "Neither do I."

"I guess nobody actually knows that we're dating yet, right?"

"Right." Jaemin rested his head against Jeno's shoulder. "Do you... want to go public?"

Jeno slowly started running his fingers through Jaemin's head. "I'm fine with whatever you want. I know it's going to be a big thing."

"Yeah."

"I know you still have yet to tell 127 and WayV and all, but..." Jeno took a sip of his drink, clearly nervous for whatever he was about to say, "do you want me to post you?"

Jaemin paused, thinking about it for a moment. Jeno could always just say he was taken and Jaemin could have his little reveal post without anything happening. But there was a part of him, a tiny part, that wanted everyone to know that Jeno was his and he was Jeno's.

"Yeah," he settled on, exhaling the word out along with all of his thoughts. "One day."

"Your mom is a life saver," Jaemin sighed, staring down at the bunny slippers in his grasps. He was wearing sneakers now, but he'd be kicking them off the moment they got into the house. "I think I'd pass away if I wore this on public transit."

"It really wasn't a problem." Jeno adjusted the matching bowed headbands they were wearing. "We live closer to each other than Chenle and Jisung do anyways."

"I guess."

Jaemin was the first one up the steps, ringing the doorbell and immediately being greeted by Chenle in his pink Sanrio pajamas. "You two are the second last ones to get here."

Jeno tapped his chin for a moment. "Renjun?"

"Yup. Mr. I've-got-the-food is late." Chenle crossed his arms for a brief moment before ushering Jaemin and Jeno inside. "Come on, we have the projector set up in the basement already. We're going to start with music video bingage."

Jaemin was about to step into the house, but he pauesed. "And Produce stages?"

"Do I look like a madman? Of course!"

Jaemin dragged Jeno inside with him.

The two of them settled in downstairs with everyone else. Much to Renjun's dismay, he arrived with the only free seat being next to Donghyuck. Jeno rested his head on Jaemin's shoulder, not as into the idolsphere as the rest of the group was. Mark sat staring at his phone, clearly texting Johnny. Chenle and Jisung practically sat on top of each other, their legs entangled as Chenle navigated around on his laptop.

They had somehow moved on from the music videos and live performances to passing around the laptop to play shitty free online games when none other than Zhong Zhiyuan walked in.

"Zhiyuan!" Chenle huffed, clearly angry about something. "We have no more ice cream for you. This is ours, thank you very much."

"Chenle," Zhiyuan countered, his eyes hovering over the group spread out across the floor, draped in blankets and pillows. "I really can't drop by here without you saying anything, huh?"

"Speaking of saying things, I'll need you two to shut up before I accidentally die," Renjun, who's turn it was on the projector of gamerability, interrupted, glaring at both siblings before turning his eyes back to the screen.

Dnoghyuck patted his hair aimlessly. "Calm down, Renjun," he soothed, his assume all has gone wrong if Renjun and Chenle are speaking in Mandarin agenda actually working for once.

Renjun also shot him a quick glare. "Let go of me."

"Of course."

Jeno rolled his eyes at the two of them, turning to Jaemin as Zhiyuan and Chenle continued bickering, just in Korean this time. "They're quite the siblings, aren't they?"

"Something like that," Jaemin whispered back. "Chenle, maybe you shoud stop trying to fight Zhiyuan. We can spare another root beer float."

Zhiyuan visibly lit up. "You were always my favourite, Jaemin."

"Fuck off," Chenle muttered under his breath, reaching for the ice cream tub. "But go for it."

Once Zhiyuan had gotten what he wanted (to bother Chenle and find some food), the group started a movie to end off the night. Jeno kept his eyes on the screen, calmed by the whispers he could hear from around the group every once in a while.

"Jaemin," he muttered, looking down at his lap. Jaemin had long since settled his head into Jeno's lap, and he was now fully asleep. Jeno's fingers combing through his hair had most likely lulled him to sleep. Jeno couldn't help but smile when he looked down at Jaemin's face.

He pressed a kiss to the tip of Jaemin's nose, reforming the smile that had previously adorned his face. "Sleep well."

Looking around, Jeno could see that the same thing was happening with the rest of the group. Renjun was yawning, leaning into Donghyuck's side, Mark was nodding off every so often, and Chenle was already knocked out in Jisung's lap. 

Jeno decided it was time to settle down, leaning back until his head was resting on the pillow behind him. He kept his eyes trained on the projector screen as long as he could before he drifted off to sleep.

Jaemin woke up with his head against Jeno's chest, blinking to let his eyes adjust to the darkness. He stared up at the ceiling first before he started looking around the room. Chenle was still on top of Jisung, both of them asleep, and Renjun and Donghyuck were curled up together on the floor. Mark was also out cold, though the phone on his chest indicated that he had been up for a little while before dozing off again.

He looked at Jeno last, surprised to find that the older was staring down at him. "Morning," Jeno whispered in his raspy morning voice that basically made Jaemin decide to call Jeno first thing in the morning every once in a while. "Sleep well?"

Jaemin nodded, the rise and fall of Jeno's chest already making his eyes want to close again. "You're a comfortable pillow."

"That's, like, a boyfriend requirement."

"Well, you pass with flying colours."

Jeno chuckled, patting Jaemin's hair slowly. It was like he was trying to make Jaemin fall asleep again. "Do you want to listen to some msuic to stay awake or just sleep again?"

Jaemin reached for his (Jeno's, actually) phone, looking at the time. It was 11:07 in the morning, meaning that the group had just passed what was about their 7th hour of sleep. Jaemin was already starting to wake up, so he helped Jeno search for one of their pairs of headphones.

The next person to wake up was Mark, who barely spared Jeno and Jaemin a glance before turning back to his phone, the light illuminating his face and showing that he was all-too-excited to be talking to someone (Johnny) in the morning.

Next was Donghyuck, who nearly sat up before noticing the way that Renjun was curled into his side. He stopped himself, resting a hand on the older's back while mouth a celebratory I win!!! to Jeno and Jaemin.

Jisung was next, followed shortly by Chenle. Well, sort of, as Chenle continuously woke up and fell asleep in Jisung's lap. Jisung just sighed everytime Chenle's body slumped against him and stroked the older's hair.

Renjun fully awoke before Chenle could, immediately moving away from Donghyuck the moment he was sentient enough to do so. He rolled his eyes at the pout Donghyuck cast him, yawning loudly and getting up to turn on the lights.

Turning on the lights is what got Chenle to stir fully awake, still slumping against Jisung once he'd realized that everyone else was awake. "What time is it?" he grumbled into Jisung's neck.

"Past 12 now," Jaemin answered, finally pausing the music that he and Jeno had been listeningt to. "12:20."

"Later than I expected." Renjun rubbed his eyes, actually looking around the room and glancing at Mark. "Mark, are you going to sit in that corner the entire day and text Johnny or..."

"I'm here," Mark replied, breaking his eyes away from the screen (which Jaemin honestly thought he was unable to do until now). "I had nothing better to do."

"Uh-huh." Jisung attempted to shrug Chenle off of his shoulders, but the latter refused to budge. "Chenle, are you going to feed us or should we just fend for ourselves?"

With a groan, Chenle rolled off of Jisung. "Who's hungry?"

"Me," Donghyuck answered immediately, already on his feet. "Chenle, feed us before we go home. And Merry Christmas Eve!"

"Fuck you," Chenle murmured, standing up. "I think we're supposed to have waffles."

"Your mom's waffles are the shit."

"Shut up, Donghyuck."

"Well now if I compliment someone's cooking I'm the problem?"

"Wouldn't making a waffle from scratch be closer to baking?"

"..."

"Mark, you have said so much dumb shit, you make absolutely no sense."

"I'll take that as a compliment, Renjun."

Jaemin liked days like this. Days like this where he and Jeno got to lay on each other and enjoy each other's presence, whether that's in words or in silence. He moved slightly on Jeno's chest, staring up at the ceiling.

"Baby."

Jaemin hummed.

"Babygirl."

Jaemin blushed. "Where did that come from?"

"I just wanted to see something." Jeno poked Jaemin's cheek. "I think I want to come out."

"This is a sitting up conversation." Jaemin pulled himself off of Jeno's chest, turning to face him before pulling him up as well. "You want to come out?"

Jeno shrugged. "It's more of a I want-to-post-you situation. Y'know, pull a Nick Nelson."

"You're going to pull a move from Heartstopper?"

"The show was cute!" Jeno argued. "I also watched it with you, so it's like a cute little reference. And if I do it now, people have, like, a week of break to get over it."

That, Jaemin had to admit, was smart. Deep down, he was excited to know that Jeno wanted to hard launch him to his however many followers with no warning and come out to them at the same time. Still, he couldn't help but feel a little nervous. He'd made a few light jokes about it– did Jeno feel the need to post because of him? "You really want to?"

"I really like you, Jaemin." Jeno held one of Jaemin's hands in each of his own, staring down at them intertwined before looking back up at Jaemin. "The first step to showing that is letting everyone know I'm taken. Especially after what happened last week on our date."

"Right." Jaemin chewed on his lip for a moment. "How about we tell all our friends at Ten's party? Then after that we can post."

"I like that idea." Jeno leaned in close, pecking Jaemin on the lips. Jaemin's heart jumped for joy. His eyes crinkled at the edges, showcasing his smile. "I can't wait to let everyone know you're mine."

Jaemin and Jeno walked up the steps to Ten's door, the latter pausing before ringing the doorbell. "Are you ready?"

"Are you?" Jaemin asked, grazing his fingers over the back of Jeno's hand.

Jeno nodded, staring at the door again. "Yeah. It's just our friends, after all." He held onto Jaemin's hand briefly, squeezing it.

"Okay, lovebirds." The couple turned around to see Chenle and Jisung walking up behind them. "Pack it up, guys. You have to do the announcement before you hold hands."

"Do we?" Jeno intertwined his and Jaemin's fingers, ringing the doorbell.

Jisung only scoffed at them, with the door opening before he could say anything. Johnny was the one who answered, Mark dangling off of his arm. "You two look young, queer, and in love."

"I guess you could say that." Jeno smiled. "I could say the same about you."

Johnny chuckled lightly, casing a glance at Mark. Mark caught his eye, pecking him on the lips briefly.

Jaemin looked between the two of them. "Okay, bi king and random straight guy."

"Shut up," Mark whined.

"Are you guys going to move anytime soon?" an impatient Jisung asked from behind the group, reminding them of his and Chenle's presence.

"Right." Johnny stepped aside, urging Jaemin and Jeno to enter, followed closely by Jisung and Chenle.

Mark trailed behind the first couple. "Your grand announcement will have to wait for a little bit. I already told Ten you had something to say. You as in Jeno, by the way."

"How great," Jeno groaned.

Jaemin caught this quickly, concern settling over his face. "Do you... not want to do this anymore? We don't have to if you don't want to."

"No," Jeno said, pressing his lips together. "No, I want to do this. Remember what I told you?"

Jaemin nodded. It still rang in his head. Jeno wanted people to know that Jaemin was his. What Jeno seemed to have not accounted for in the "people" is how many he actually knew.

Much like Chenle's slumber party, Ten's party was being held in his basement. Jeno and Jaemin descended the stairs after a brief pep talk to each other, not knowing what to expect.

"There they are!" Ten cheered, turning all the heads in the room to the two of them. God, Jaemin sometimes forgot how flamboyant Ten was. "The men of the hour."

Everyone was accounted for; Jeno made sure to count everyone. He dropped Jaemin's hands to wipe his sweaty palms off on his jeans. "Um, I wasn't expecting this."

"Might as well get it over with," Johnny said from where he suddenly was in the crowd, shrugging.

It was a little too quiet for both Jeno and Jaemin's liking. Nevertheless, they had an opportunity. "Okay," Jeno exhaled. "I had something that I wanted to post about, but I figured– we figured we should tell you guys first because... y'know, you're all our friends."

"Though the Dreamies already know," Jaemin murmured.

Eyebrows rose on many faces, awaiting the words. Jeno locked on to the face in the front of the clump. Mark, Johnny, Kun, Ten, Lucas, Kunhang, Yangyang, Dejun, Chenle, and Jisung. Maybe he didn't know all of them well, but he still considered all of them friends, whether some be closer than others. These were people he could trust. Besides, after tonight, the secret would be out anyways.

"Right." Jeno sighed. "Um, I'm bi, and I'm dating Jaemin."

Ten snorted. "Tell us some real news."

Kun smacked Ten on the arm, and the younger hissed. "Ow! What?"

"Be nice," Kun whispered.

"I am being nice! But I'm just saying that we shoul– Kun do not pout at me it makes me feel uncomfortable– why are you still pouting I swear to god if you start doing aegy– Kun that is so disgusting you need to lea–"

"Do you get my point?"

"Unfortunately." Ten couldn't help but get in one last jab. "But they did walk in holding hands, so what else was I supposed to know?"

"Ten!"

The slightly serious atmosphere dissipated at that, pulling the spotlight off of Jaemin and Jeno. The former sighed, resting his head against his boyfriend's shoulder.

"And that was the easier part," he muttered.

"Sort of," Jeno sighed, stumbling down the remaining steps. "Somehow I thought that would be worse."

Jaemin crossed his arms, standing up straight. "We're in a room of queer people. Everyone in this room likes boys in some way, minus Taeil."

"Yeah," Jeno accepted. "There's nothing to be afraid of."

"Well, if anything, the online response."

"Right."

If anything, Jeno was afraid of that.

Despite the nerves still coursing through Jeno, he felt more at ease now that he could throw an arm around Jaemin and kiss him freely without it being noted at something big.

"You know what I just realized?" Jaemin suddenly asked as he and Jeno swayed to the music playing.

"What?"

Jaemin pulled Jeno in closely, kissing his cheek with the corner of his mouth coming to Jeno's. "You're gonna be my New Year's kiss."

Jeno could feel his cheeks start to heat up. Jeno glanced around the room, wrapping a hand around Jaemin's waist. Doyoung, Taeyong, and Taeil were in a corner, talking to each other, and Jaehyun, Jungwoo, Yuta, and Haechan (and Renjun, who clearly wanted to leave) camped by the speaker. WayV had all lumped into the centre of the room, while Mark was standing right next to Johnny's table. Chenle and Jisung were camping by the punch table.

Finally, Jeno's eyes looked up to the clock. 11:58.

Johnny faded out of View, ending the set for the moment. "Guys, it's almost time!"

Everyone now clumped around Jeno and Jaemin, who were standing by the clock. Jeno's eyes, curious as ever, travelled around the group. Ten was already cupping Lucas' face, Johnny looked like he was about to kiss Mark a minute early, and Kunhang and Yangyang's fingers kept brushing against each other as if they weren't going to kiss at the same time as every other couple.

In note of the non-couples, Chenle and Jisung held up their cups of punch, ready to toast their 26th refill, and Taeil stood off to the side, body already angled away from anyone who might kiss. Yuta wrapped his arms around Sicheng, already about to squeeze him into a tighter hug.

"10!"

Jeno turned to face Jaemin again.

"9!"

Jaemin smiled.

"8!"

Jeno smiled back.

"7!"

"Are you ready?" Jaemin whispered.

"6!"

Jeno took a deep breath.

"5!"

Jeno pulled Jaemin the tiniest bit closer. "As ready as I'll ever be."

"4!"

"Good." Jaemin threw his arms around Jeno's shoulders.

"3!"

Jeno cupped Jaemin's face.

"2!"

He pressed their foreheads together.

"1!"

They leaned in.

"Happy New Year!"

It felt kind of weird to be kissing Jaemin in front of all their friends, but it was also New Year's. Jeno knew that his heart would never stop beating as hard as it had the first time Jaemin had kissed him.

Jeno didn't know how long he should've kissed Jaemin for, unsure if he was even suposed to kiss him or just peck, but he pulled back when the timing felt right.

"So," Jeno whispered after a moment, "is there any chance of your "new year, no Jeno" agenda?"

"No," Jaemin whispered back as the music faded back in. "Never think about it."
