Well, they were alive, in a sense.
Lorelei was sitting near a cliff ledge, dark skies dotted with stars. They weren't here for any malicious purposes, not at all. Instead, they were reflecting on some things.
Why did the Queen decided to bring them back to life, and was it really her that brought her to life? Or was it Lorelei themselves who somehow willed themselves back to life? Who were they before they've gotten corrupted, and what were they like? Frankly, they couldn't tell, they got no memories of who they were, and even the ones they did have were vague and only pops up in nightmares.
Plus, what about that Hero? That Masked One who cleared out the corruption for good, yet Lorelei was still standing, and still alive, just not in the traditional sense.
Yet... they couldn't help but think about their first encounter with the Hero. How they saved them from that tall creature, and how confused the Hero was. They also thought about that time they gave them a runestone, the Construct staring on cautious, yet confused. They giggled a bit at that thought, oh how confused both the Hero and Construct were when they placed that runestone! It was oddly funny, to them at least.
Then there was the last, and most recent, encounter they had with the Hero, in the throne room. Watching them almost becoming corrupted, and the Queen saving them. They remembered the Queen offering her hand to that Masked One, yet they... refused. They remembered fighting with all their might against them, yet they failed and now the corruption has been cleared, but yet they're alive.
It's not like they needed the Queen. In fact, they felt a bit... freed if they're being honest. No more spying on people, no more fighting even if they didn't want to fight, they now had free reign over what they wanted to do.
Plus, maybe they could try to find the Hero, maybe even try to befriend them. They seemed pretty cool, and the limited interaction they had with them, except for that last one, were mostly positive. Of course, they couldn't blame the Hero for killing the Queen and ridding the land of corruption, of course that was their whole purpose! In fact, they actually quite liked how beautiful the land was. And of course the sprites, they're quite adorable and friendly.
Lorelei got up from their seat, they made their mind, they're going to try to find the Hero and apologise for that last encounter they both had with each other. And with that, they walked off into the night, within the shadows that they called home.
