Chapter 1: ancestor
Chapter Text
It was another one of those nights again. You could feel him tossing and turning next to you, the unintelligible words muttering into the night. Names that you had heard in ramblings whenever he came out of the Animus.
You flipped over to nudge him awake.
“Desmond?”
Another kick to your leg and you were alert, arms nudging him awake.
The names soon evolved more into more of his babblings in numerous languages: Arabic, Welsh, Italian, and many others.
You raised your voice just an octave more before Desmond awoke. Those brown eyes shot open with shock and he quickly sat up, the beads of sweat clinging to his forehead and shirt.
He looked at you, wide-eyed with the fear and confusion over taking his waking thoughts. The embarrassment began to creep through on his cheeks as he felt heated under your touch.
Stammering through his words and apologies for waking you, you just held onto him as his shoulders began to shake from the nightmares and what had been bottled up inside him for so long.
All of this, all of these demands and expectations weighed heavy on his mind. Though he admired his ancestors, sometimes you wish that Desmond didn't feel he had to carry this burden alone.
Chapter 2: island
Summary:
You take a much needed break with some surprising company.
Notes:
Day 2 of Codextober
Chapter Text
As part of his new works to transform the Order, Altair had called for the new installation of an additional Bureau along the tinier islands near Cyprus.
There were tall orders ever since he started to revamp the Order from top to bottom, and as a recent recruit you were honored to be a part of his efforts.
Having been part of the Brotherhood, you breathed a sigh of relief at receiving Altair’s letters. At least there would be one that you trusted the most who would never leave your side for this.
Preparations upon his return took underway as Altair could arrive any day.
One particular day just felt oddly labor less to you. Though your mind was preoccupied, you allowed yourself to take a much needed break before work took precedent again.
Sitting alongside the beaches, you let the wind blow through your hair. Eyes were closed as you afforded yourself this one piece of tranquility.
You couldn’t hear the footsteps behind you as the roar of the ocean took over. You didn’t hear the clink of his blades and sword as he sat next to you just as the sun began to set over the beach. But just as the day was ending, you opened them to see the most feared Assassin enjoying the same peace with you.
The relationship dynamic between you two was still a mystery. Just comrades? Friends? Or something potentially more than that?
There could be time now to work through that, but for now you just enjoyed the rare peaceful moment you had with him.
Chapter 3: enemy
Summary:
Malik swore that you were nothing more than just his enemy.
Chapter Text
The day that Altair brought you and the other young woman back, Malik knew it was nothing but trouble.
First off, you both were Templars! As an amusing second, the fact that both you and this Maria woman bested Altair in combat was enough to garner some amusement from Malik.
Still, he swore he would never warm up to you. Especially you.
Some would say knowledgeable, but to him you were an arrogant know-it-all!
And you fighting? Ugh! It almost seemed as if you and Maria intentionally set up a spectacle with your sword dueling enough to where the rest of the other young novices gathered around to watch you two.
Dinner was also a whole affair too. Bantering back and forth over philosophies and the different ideologies, Malik felt that you only contradicted him just to get a rise out of him. It drove him crazy yet in the day time, he would search for any excuse just to talk to you. Even if it was only for bantering.
Though it was four of you to seat at the table every night, Altair and Maria would shift their eyes anytime you two interacted. Something of an old familiar reminder.
He swore he would never call you a true “friend”, but that changed on the day he regretted the most.
Those you had once called friends were now your enemies, and the former enemies were the only friends who defended you after the trap had been laid. It was a blade that was coming for Maria, but you took the hit instead.
It was a torturous three days to get you back home, and hopefully save your life. Malik could hear the panic in his voice as he watched over you, trying to steel his nerves as his chastising over why you were so careless evolved into begging.
Begging for his new friend, his companion in daily life to come back. Just a little while longer so he could at least have a battle of wits with you.
When you awoke one morning, you could see his exhausted form slumped over in the corner. Your whimpers of pain awoke him, rushing to your side to help you sit up.
"You were out for a few days. I'll find some water-."
You pulled his hand towards you in an attempt to plea.
"Later, but for now, just stay. Please."
Chapter 4: isu
Summary:
Your marks draw attention and stares from everyone.
Chapter Text
The markings on you always garnered some unwanted attention from the crowds. Basim could see their eyes following your every move, but he always said they were your "tattoos."
At least there was some truth to that.
He had seen them glow in the dead of night when it's darkest, and it only led to him asking more questions about them.
Isu, you had called it. A vast civilization beyond the stars that only wanted to enlighten others. Strange how the young Hidden One always looked to you in admiration, but you knew deep down what the truth was.
Regardless of what you had told him, directly or indirectly to shield for his own protection, Basim felt set aside from the rest you conversed with. You trusted him. You only sought him out with this knowledge of yourself.
As guilty as any admission would be, he found himself absently tracing the intricate marks on your skin. It was a fascination how it pulsed with what felt like energy under his touch.
You welcomed his admiration but felt that pang of guilt deep within yourself whenever you left what is, and always was, his fate to be.
For now, you knew he would do whatever he could to protect you from whatever came your way.
Chapter 5: myth
Summary:
You come face to face with a living legend.
Chapter Text
Allies with the Assassins came with more that what, or who, you could ever anticipate.
Mostly you were here to support Desmond. Both of you had escaped the hellhole that was called a “home” and practically welcomed anything that
You never anticipated to meet her. If Desmond was ever in the Animus, you explored around and poured over any ancient text or artifact that was tied to the Assassins.
Examining artifacts is where you first saw her. There was a power and sadness that surrounded this woman, a mercenary who had lived a thousand human lifetimes.
Whenever she spoke to you, it felt as if an unseen weight was being lifted from her shoulders.
Kassandra, was her name. To her, it rolled off your tongue perfectly and sounded a tad hit musical.
It meant “defender, warrior” but something told you she had enough of such struggles in one lifetime.
She was a gentle, calming presence to you and it may have seemed foolish at first, but you made it a habit speaking to her on the daily.
It was the most mundane of conversations to myths and stories from her time that made your eyes widen.
Good things had rarely happened to you both. Did it seem so wrong to seek each other out for the comfort that was offered?
Chapter 6: attack
Summary:
Another attack prompts her to return back to you. And you’ll answer the call as always.
Chapter Text
You had lived near her village and kept a peaceful friendship with her fellow tribe. Plus it was good way to smuggle in any of the supplies they ever needed as well. No authority would have ever
Looking forward to Ziio’s visits was the highlight of your life in the wilderness. The company was nice but you noticed a stricken expression on her face.
Pleasantries and hugs aside
“There’s a man who may finally help me…, help my people to cease the attacks we face…”
You noticed how her eyes flashed with doubt when she brought up this man, but there didn’t seem to be time to hash out alternatives at the moment.
Whoever he was, even you didn’t fully trust him, but Ziio seemed to in the slightest and you didn’t want to crush the tiniest bit of hope she had.
“I’ll go with you. Until the ends, remember?”
She offered you a small grateful smile as acceptance for your help.
Yes, you would have done anything for her as long as it meant you could protect her.
The one time that you could not save her haunted you for the remainder of your life.
Chapter 7: ghost
Summary:
Dreams are not always pleasant and you can’t always escape the nightmares.
Chapter Text
Their faces still haunted him at night. Sometimes the dreams were more vivid than others.
Frederico would be relentlessly teasing him about some Assassin training Ezio had gone through. If anything, Claudia would be joining in too or chastising their brother for his taunts.
Giovanni was praising his boy, or even sharing a loving kiss with Maria as if nothing had chest changed.
Sweet little Petruccio, in all his innocence, was just curious about all that happened in their family.
And maybe, if things were different, Cristina would be there as part of their family too.
When he awakes, Ezio doesn’t realize how much he had been crying in his sleep. It’s not until he feels your hands on his face wiping away the tears.
He hates to let you see him like this, but the agony of his ghosts haunt him and you’re the solace that eases the pain whenever he awakes.
Chapter 8: discovery
Summary:
Shay’s experience in Portugal haunts him for the years to come.
Chapter Text
It was just supposed to be a simple mission in retrieving the Artifact, but all it left him was regrets and misery.
A discovery that came at the cost of so many others he had wanted to save but felt helpless for failing to do so.
Shay discovered something in himself that day and for many more days of regret that followed afterwards.
In putting an end to the collateral, Shay went against all that he knew to finish off the Colonial Brotherhood. It just came down to you, Achilles and Liam in the final moments.
There were many things he didn’t hold close in life, but with an old life of his now gone, you were one last tether he knew had to be shucked.
He had spared your life in his vicious rampage but you would never see eye to eye on anything now. Still, he didn’t want Haytham to take the vengeance out on you and begged that you leave with
Tearfully gathering whatever you could grab, you halted
If this was goodbye, you wouldn’t put an end to it without one last jab.
”Was it worth it, Shay? Us? Me, Hope, Liam? Everything we used to have together?”
Shay shuddered in his heartbreak as you tensed, waiting for his response or for the split second if he decided to change his mind.
”I…I don’t know.”
Chapter 9: hidden
Summary:
Hiding in the grass with your comrade dawns a new realization from Edward.
Chapter Text
It was one thing to be hiding as an Assassin. The added security just happened to be overlooked, in regards to your pirate companion.
You could see the guards begin to scout out where you and Edward followed, heart racing as they almost made you both out. Cursing under your breath, you frantically dragged Edward down with you as you crouched into the grass.
Though a bit followed your lead, pulling you close to him before hurling you both into the tight spot. If it wasn't for the high stakes of the situation, you hoped he wouldn't sense your rapidly beating heart.
Little did you know, Edward felt the same. High stake pirate life aside, he would want to take you out for one of these evenings. Just laughing with you, being with you, and enjoying the rare happier moments with you. Feeling you pressed against him allowed him to at least imagine what it could be like. You, him, what it would feel like to actually hold you.
Was it the same for you as it was for him? Or was he just fooling himself to think you would-?
He was a pirate for gods sake and here he was acting like a love struck fool?? And…, Caroline…
Every second felt like an eternity as said guards muttered under their breath about where you two had gone. Pacing back and forth for a while, they relented and made their way back to the large estate as you released a deep sigh.
"Bit too close for us. Might not be so lucky next time, right Edward?"
You heard no answer for a while until you looked up at the man that still held you tightly to him.
"...Ed?"
For a moment, neither of you wanted this to end. It just felt...natural. Too right. Too perfect. You knew he was a handsome man with striking blue eyes but looking at him now...
You never said it, not yet at least, but you wanted to. Whatever crossed your mind vanished within the second Edward’s voice broke through the night.
"Maybe we should--."
"Find our lead and not get caught again?"
Nodding furiously, he helped you from the hiding spot. "As always, you lead and know best, love.”
You both continued on as if nothing had happened, yet deep down, both of you wanted to change that.
Soon.
Chapter 10: mentor
Summary:
You're under his tutelage. He's your mentor. Why does he feel this way?
Chapter Text
You showed promise as a young recruit, and your mind was as sharp as a whip. Plus there was the benefit of many town locals who knew you as well.
This is what Haytham told himself repeatedly but the tasks that threw you two together challenged that sentiment every day.
It was a close rapport you had formed as a newcomer with the Order, and he took some sense of pride in being your mentor.
Yet he would wake up in the middle of each night with a cold sweat and chest heaving as he trued to slow his racing heart.
Haytham swore he could hear your laugh in the back of his mind as the haze from a deep sleep started to wear off.
Go on, you were consistent in making some joke about the bags around his eyes. Even then, you were never realized he held his head in hands those sleepless nights.
Chapter 11: civilization
Summary:
Camping was not your way of having fun, but there are other ways.
Chapter Text
You always teased your love that these trips were too long, always wanting to go back to civilization.
Camping came at the mercy of nature’s forces, and sailing on the Aquila was romantic for a while until you found yourself keeled over on the side of the ship.
It only seemed fair to come to a compromise.
Despite the one too many trips you’d taken, Connor always liked going into the marketplace with you. Not just for the supplies, no, something more sentimental than that. It was the one of the many tasks you had together that offered the young man a chance to forget the Brotherhood for a few hours.
But that wasn’t the only reason you enjoyed being around him in this setting.
You felt a sense of pride whenever you walked the squares with him. You adored Connor and his feats. He was your lover! You always held your head high with your arms linked together.
Chapter 12: mirage
Summary:
This was just a game to him.
Chapter Text
Basim doesn’t know how much longer he can keep this facade up. She thinks it’s a genuine friendship built on mutual trust, but this can’t go farther than being a mirage.
He hears her talk and it’s grating but fascinating to hear what she has to say. He doesn’t want to get too close because if he does then it’s an end to the plan already set in motion.
Eivor is a conundrum to the Hidden One. Speaks of the tales of her gods, as if she was there herself, or rather who was present.
Does she know of who resides within her? What the past has done to wound him?
Training her became too personal. He knows if circumstances were different, something would shift between them.
Still, Basim knows he’s come too far to not see this through.
Chapter 13: city
Summary:
You mull over your connection with the Templar woman.
Chapter Text
You had not been born into the Brotherhood or the Order, but you had been intimately aware of both factions. Given the fact that your love belonged to one, and the latter always tried to recruit you.
A true rebel at heart, Elise always felt a sense of jealousy in how steadfast you were in refusing to join. She always wrote to you about her work and asked about you,
There were the few mentions she had of the other young man you met a few times, Arno. It’s not that you actively disliked the man, but there was a slight twinge of jealousy whenever she spoke of him and the connection they had.
Still, it was the tiny victories to you whenever she came back to you. It wasn’t much, but it felt better than nothing. At least this time there wouldn’t be a debate about trying to convince you to join her side.
It seemed nice to enjoy her company, but today felt more wanting of her than normal. These small meetings were almost starting to lose their effect on you, and she could tell from the expression on your face.
Overlooking the activity in the city below, you shared the cheap red with Elise.
“Can anything ever go back to the way things were? Between…us?”
You mulled over the crude cup you held in your hand before taking a slow sip of your wine. Something told you she wasn’t just talking about the revolution’s cost to people.
Maybe if you didn’t face her, then you wouldn’t….
”I don’t know, can it?”
Chapter 14: alliance
Summary:
Adewale doesn’t entirely trust you.
Chapter Text
As shaky as his trust was with this Kenway addition, Adewale was even more wary of you.
He knew Kenway was a loose canon of a man who did as he pleased, but you were entirely different.
The blonde man always looked to you for sort of approval, hanging onto every word of your opinions like he wanted your approval.
What kind of hold did you have on him that it would compromise of the three main tenets?
To call it a shaky alliance was an understatement at best. Still, it appeared to Adewale that Kidd/Read was able to trust you, and he couldn’t wholeheartedly disagree with that.
Chapter 15: rebellion
Summary:
Arno doesn’t want to lose you when Paris is in turmoil.
Chapter Text
You could not stand by as those were innocent were caught up in the rebellion and these senseless killings. Seeing a rickety cart with faces fresh with fear, you had no choice but to free them.
Impulsively, you set them free and coaxed them away from the violence as best you could.
The crowds roared and clashed against each other’s opposing sides. With you caught in the middle, you focused on trying to stay your blade but there was no guarantee.
Before you could act, you felt a tight grip pull you away from the crowd. Your heart was still racing but a small wave of relief washed
Fighting out of Arno’s grip, you both made your way into a small alley that could offer as a sub-par hiding spot.
“Damn it, I could take care of myself, you know that right?!”
There was a mix of sadness and anger in his eyes as you tried to steady your breath and whispered voice. Loss was still fresh to him and you being sent by the Brotherhood as liaison just to get him to come back came with its consequences.
And like a tragic fool, he just had to get attached whenever you stopped by.
“I know that, but that doesn’t mean I have to see
His expression was the slightest bit unnerving to you. Knowledge of the Assassin Dorian was not that unfamiliar to you, but you didn’t think of him this careless.
If only you knew.
Chapter 16: fate
Summary:
You were destined to meet. But never meant to be.
Chapter Text
It was fate you two were always meant to meet, but never meant to be.
That day on the docks was more important than you realized. Mentor Ezio had insisted you come along to meet other fellow Assassins, but you could have never anticipated him.
Reaching Istanbul, you jumped as a hand was placed on your shoulder.
You were used to the forward greetings from Ezio, but Yusuf caught you by surprise.
Yusuf was….friendly, especially for Assassin, which was not common in your line of work. There was a sparkle in his blue eyes whenever he spoke about anything. Plus, when was the last time you saw a man eager to show off a weapon such as the hook blade?
You welcomed his friendship as it was a warm element. It just felt nice for once to have something that always felt fleeting.
In a life like this, no one ever knew when a moment would be your last. That friendship began to bud into something more, at least on your end. Yusuf was sweet, kind and if anything, he gave you a sliver of hope of what you wanted to establish in life if you could. There was always a “later” from you of what you wanted to tell him.
You didn’t dwell on your sadness when Ezio told you what happened to Yusuf. You could never let your feelings linger too long in this life, but regret festered in your heart everyday that followed.
At least there were fond memories to dwell on when you thought of him.
Chapter 17: apprentice
Summary:
You looked up to him, and he was flattered by that.
Chapter Text
The first mission as an apprentice was always the first one to make the best impression.
It was a simple target, just a start to what you would graduate to after the years, and this time he was with you.
The stories you had heard about Bayek of Siwa were never short of legendary and you didn’t want to disappoint.
Every so often you looked back for approval and felt reassured to see the hooded figure tracking you. The supposed target almost caught you off guard as you both tumbled into a dark alley.
Amidst the brief struggle, you made a claim for your feather just as Bayek came to where you had fallen.
Helping you to your feet, you noted the slightly amused but resigned expression on his face.
“I would say flawless work, my apprentice. But next time, try not to be too distracted.”
Chapter 18: hideout
Summary:
Jacob feels a bit too comfortable with you when you two are almost caught
Chapter Text
As part of the Rooks, you were used to everyone else and working through the streets of London with them.
You could not have foreseen being paired up with your boss, Jacob Frye, who was one of the notoriously famous Assassins along with his twin sister. He was reckless and impulsive, but still you felt the tiniest bit honored selected on reconnaissance with him.
Tracking down some Blighters put the stealth to good use. At least that’s what
Grabbing you roughly by the cuff, Jacob threw both of your selves into one of the nearby dark alleys as a quick hideout.
It didn’t seem to be quite enough as you could hear both of your targets’ footsteps getting closer.
There was a brief “mph!” from you before Jacob grabbed you close to him, and you were trapped in a tight embrace with a clumsy heated kiss.
It wasn’t the best, but it wasn’t bad either. You were prepared to use a blade against your targets, but frankly it felt better to hold yourself against Jacob. Kissing him, feeling his heart beat, the soft moans into your lips….
Did he always taste this good?
Just then, the Blighters had peered into the alley as you and Jacob were in embrace.
“Nevermind! Just the two of ‘em!”
“Oi! Getta room ya two!”
Yiu both stated
Pulling away from you, Jacob had a confused but softened expression at your wide-eyed expression. Still, he didn’t lessen his grip on you.
“Maybe we should—-?”
”Head back to the rest of the Rooks?”
”R-right…! That’s what I was going to say…”
Chapter 19: gear
Summary:
He needed a favor from you.
Notes:
Based off the wiki bio in Nikolai’s profile
Chapter Text
It was the least that you could do for him. You and Nikolai had been close in the Brotherhood, and you knew that he was returning soon from the critical mission he was assigned.
Only he wasn’t alone when he returned.
The little duchess princess clung onto him with the shock still laced in her wide eyes.
“You remember how you said you would help me with anything? Anything, any piece of gear, anyone?”
Something in the tone of Nikolai’s voice told you this would be one of the last times you’d see him. Having been through one too many crises with the Brotherhood, you knew Nikolai was on his last leg and just itching for a way out.
“Yes…?, anything.”
He could only offer a small smile in return. It was very rare he ever smiled given what you knew of his story.
”Good. I’ll make it count where it can. One last time.”
Chapter 20: key
Summary:
Shaun sees you more than just as the key.
Chapter Text
He tried not to think much of the relationship you two had, but his eyes couldn’t help but follow over.
The two of you were inseparable. Whether it was romantic or platonic, Shaun didn’t want to pry too much.
You and Desmond had just barreled into Shaun’s life and the rest of the Brotherhood, and Shaun always had noticed how you were a key to that. Keeping Desmond together, keeping him focused and tethered.
Despite the small attraction he felt towards you, Shaun knew it would have to wait for later. Besides, he saw the way you looked at Desmond.
Perhaps if the world wasn’t facing some sort of impending doom, you could have probably looked at him like that.
Chapter 21: order
Summary:
Evie comes to grips with her feelings for you.
Chapter Text
It was always something that was hammered into her since childhood. Her father was strict on her and Jacob about the tenets of the Brotherhood.
But it felt so lonely sometimes, like a typical cold and rainy morning. To be honest, she was a bit jealous at times of the friendly rapport you had with Jacob, but felt that dissipate away when she saw you.
She tried to be the “order” of the twin halves, but your chaos was refreshing. Every fleeting moment you had with each other was either indirectly sensual or just sweet. God, what it would be like to kiss you if she if she could…
You were nice, for a Rook, and it was rather charming to talk to you about other aspects of life outside of what she knew.
Perhaps it was just a matter of time before Evie could get a chance to tell you what she really thought.
Chapter 22: modern
Summary:
You can’t escape him, even by today
Chapter Text
The spear had chosen his sister and you, yet there times you could have sworn he was still there with you.
Living legends the two of you were now, Kassandra and you had gone your separate ways after many centuries.
Yet the artifacts and ancient vases you saw across the globe still had him frozen in time in your modern day.
You were a part of the mercenary group that Alexios had been a part of before you met his sister, but you were closer to the young man than most.
He was never just “Deimos” to you, especially when he held you close when the camp fires were roaring.
It was endearing in a way to still see him clear as day as if nothing had ever changed.
Chapter 23: balance
Summary:
You kept each other in check.
Chapter Text
It was a different approach that Henry had towards the Brotherhood. Maybe it was a bit unconventional
You brought a balance to his life. Sure it had seemed to involve countless books and pouring endlessly over them, but it felt different with Henry.
Fingers tracing over each other with a ghost of a touch, fluttering eyes when you both snuck a kiss made your heart beat. Although the better part of it to you was bring met with that infectiously bright smile from Henry.
Shy and bookish complemented your rashness that came from being friends with the Fryes. Not to mention Henry’s constant checking on you whenever a bought with Blighters took a tough turn.
He was your anchor, your rock, the support you cherished in a gruesome life.
Chapter 24: monument
Summary:
Day 24 of codextober
Chapter Text
You were admiring the statute when you heard her footsteps approach you.
The monument itself was a testament to the goddess of the Old Kingdom, her watchful eyes scouring over every inch of the cobbled city even in the dark.
“I’m not well versed in my knowledge of the gods
Aya sat next to you just as you spoke aloud.
“She is that of Amunet, a goddess of Old, the ones who became before. Bayek always spoke highly of his pantheon to me.”
You looked slightly downcast at the mention of her husbands name. Even when they were apart, their presence was still a part of each other’s.
Having been newly inducted into the Hidden Ones, you had grown close to the one who had declared herself a founder of the organization. Perhaps not as close as you would have liked.
It dawned on you how the similarities were between her and the one she named. Only it was a folly on your end to fall for a living goddess herself.
Chapter 25: history
Summary:
You reminisce on the before when you were with her.
Chapter Text
You were always called back and forth between duties with Connor and the rebuilt Brotherhood. Looking at the unattended piles of parchment you had, you felt a pang of guilt for not being able to make the letters this time around.
Assisting your brothers and sisters in France during the Revolution kept you away from Aveline too long. You two had shared a history together back home, were part of a history altogether.
The ever growing stack of letters were a constant reminder of what you felt was missing out.
Would she want to see you again at this point? Or was being gone too long the straw that broke the camel’s back?
Pushing the doubts to the back of your mind, you scoured over and wrote back to each of Aveline’s letters.
When you got a response back from her, just one letter with a cordial response for you to come visit if you had the time.
Everything felt robotic to you as you boarded the ship to return back, but once you saw her there in that famed green dress she wore and heard her “cherie” as she hugged you, you finally felt peace.
Chapter 26: crusade
Summary:
You meet up with Maria away from the rest of the Templars.
Chapter Text
You knew she couldn’t sleep after battles in this crusade, and that she was always at the same place when this hit her.
Maria had been tossing and turning throughout the night, and had thought she crept away from camp quietly until she discovered you followed. Along with your sword and battle gauntlets as well.
“I know what you’re doing.”
”What’s that exactly?”
You heard her unsheathe the blade just as you got into position. Sparring for you both only made you stronger in skill, but it was where you could both speak freely away from Robert and the rest of them.
”Your opponent thinks they know you, can anticipate your every move…”
Maria dodged every parry you intimated at her as the fierce smile grew more on her face. Just as she had you distracted, a booted leg knocked you from under your feet.
”Sounds pretty frustrating!”
You swung your legs to propel you forward back on your feet and returned the offense. Part of you was a bit proud at the surprised expression on her face.
”Yeah it can be, but that’s why you try. Even if your opponent tries to play dirty.”
You could see the flicker behind her eyes the more you pushed back, and not just with the sword. The clangs reverberate out through the forest as you continued this dance between you two.
“And so why do you stay? Just lingering about like a lost pup for scraps?”
You parried her blow and held it in place just as she struck back. It wasn’t just a standstill between fellow Templars anymore. You were more than that. Maria’s tone wasn’t one of ridiculing you, just the tiniest bit of seeking your true intentions. Those sapphire eyes shone back at you with want for a true answer.
“Because I care about you. And I know you feel the same.”
Chapter 27: shroud
Summary:
You enjoy the morning together.
Chapter Text
She always liked to watch the sun rise in the mornings. It was always a new day to start over, and feel that reassuring warmth over her flesh.
The air was slightly chillier than normal, making it for a brisk morning.
As Shao sat near the window, you started to rouse from your sleep just as you heard her teeth chattering.
Your voice broke through to Shao just as she felt the tattered cotton shroud and a blanket surround her shoulders. It was some relief for now.
“Here….this may warm you for now. Can’t have ya freezing to death on us now, can we?”
There was a small “thank you” as you covered her and sat by each other just as the sun rose from the foggy dew covered hills.
Chapter 28: nexus
Summary:
character study of each nexus event
Chapter Text
Each Nexus marked what was to come without any of them knowing. It felt like a bad dream at times because that seemed to be the only reasonable explanation at first.
Altair could see the events that unfolded in time, much to man's folly and arrogance.
Ezio couldn't make sense of the name "Desmond" but he had seen enough in his lifetime. Toiling away in the service of the Brotherhood only amounted in seeking the centuries approval of his ancestor and Mentor.
Connor had seen and heard one too many tragedies of his own lifetime, but heeded what he had seen and heard in rebuilding his new life.
Desmond did not realize his true potential until it was too late. At least it was enough to save the world that would never know.
Chapter 29: trust
Summary:
He didn't trust you completely.
Chapter Text
Altair didn't trust you, at least not entirely.
You had reunited with Maria on the island, and saw that she had a certain new companion in tow. Those golden eyes followed you with such precision you could have sworn they cut deeper than a knife.
Still, you were a Templar, or was it former by now?
Maria had spent the following days catching up with you, albeit it also included persuading you to travel back with her and Altair, based off the small
Though he didn’t show it, there was a sudden strike to Altair once you came along. He had just met Maria, but there was more familiarity between you and her.
Days turned into a couple of weeks until you finally relented and hopped onto the next barge with them.
You met his stern golden gaze with confidence once the ship set course.
Don’t make me regret bringing you along. For her sake.
Don’t worry. I care for her like how you do, Assassin.
Chapter 30: peace
Summary:
He just liked holding your hand.
Chapter Text
In the stressful moments, you were a moment of peace for him.
Ezio just itches for a moment of your time. If Leonardo wasn’t around, the young Assassin always wanted to be near you.
He simultaneously knew but didn’t know why. It just felt natural to gravitate towards you with any of his outlandish behavior or mull over his thoughts with you over a rich red.
You were a trusted one, of course, but was it just that?
Was it similar to that warm familiarity when he was with family and friends, or was it more than that? At least
Oh, but it was so unnaturally warm when he held your hand. It could have been anything, just doing some mundane task and as he helps you only then does Ezio notice your hands intertwined.
For something so simple, why did it replay constantly in his head?
Chapter 31: creed
Summary:
You compromised everything he held onto.
Notes:
Thank you all for following and the kudos!!
Chapter Text
Growing up, Haytham knew his father was fiercely dedicated to the Creed, or rather what it could be. There was always room for improvement and control just as he saw fit.
The Father of Understanding always guided him but you were an exceptional distraction. If there was one thing Haytham was afraid, it was how much he would teetered on the lines of becoming Edward even as a Templar.
Stay your blade from the flesh of the innocent.
But Haytham would strike down any who were a slight bother to you.
Hide in plain sight.
But he wanted to be present with you all the time.
Never compromise the Brotherhood.
If you would have asked him a lifetime ago, Haytham would have sailed anywhere with you away from the Templars.
