Work Text:
Damian wanted to crawl into a pit. Anya, Becky, and Alpha just stood there shocked with Ewen and Emile wide-eyed.
They all stood silently while Damian slowly turned as red as a tomato. All of them were still trying to process what he just said.

Damian just arrived at school with Emile and Ewen, who were trying to brainstorm on how to cram more study time into their day for the upcoming midterm exams.
He stayed up almost the entire night studying to make up for lost time. He knows it's not the healthiest of things to do but if he did manage to earn a top rank he would get a Stella Star and maybe his Father would be happy.
Every year his brother always made the top three, barely getting a question wrong if any. Then his Father would praise Demetrius for being the pride of the family, and go on to everyone who would, of course, be amazed.
Then they arrived.
The trio of Becky, Anya, and Alpha. Almost every morning they would walk to class together till the bell rang for class and they would separate. Becky and Anya eating lunch and Alpha forcing him to look for his elder brother so Alpha can give his gratitude for visiting him in the infirmary.
( Why didn't he visit him when he was in the clinic? Why did he go for a no-name kid who he never even talked to or heard of? It wasn't fair.)
Usually, if they all talked in the morning the two groups would argue. (More like 1 trio and Becky) But, this morning was important.
He wanted more ideas and a new way to plan his day to add more time to study instead of staying up till 1 a.m. So he needed to ask Alpha or maybe Becky since he wasn't going to get one from the pink-haired dummy that was supposedly Alpha's little sister. They don’t even look related!
So he turned around and walked over, leaving a confused Emile and Ewen behind who soon after quickly walked over.
"Alpha, good morning."
Becky and Anya who were in the middle of a conversation looked over at him while Alpha who was just spacing out the whole time snapped back into reality.
"Morning," Alpha replied with a tired tone," what do you want?"
"After school, we plan to meet up in the library to plan on how to add more study time, so we need you to come as well."
He hopes that Alpha and the others don't notice, and don't ask why they need Alpha to come and just chalk it up to him being in the group. Not Damian asking for help. If they didn’t his pride as a Desmond might be destroyed, and in the worst situation his father would somehow find out and be disappointed.
Luckily, Alpha doesn't realize and no one else does.
" Sure, I'll get Anya to tell Father to pick me up later after we're done at whatever time you decide," Alpha said without acknowledging Anya was standing right next to him.
That was easier than he thought. Wait, did he, a Desmond, just overthink what he was going to say to a commoner? Sure, he wanted to make this commoner proud, receive praise from Alpha, and spend more time with him– Damian realized that he needed to get out of his head and respond.
So, without thinking he quickly said the first thing that came to mind, "Thanks Nii-chan."
The minute Damian said that he realized. The others took more time to make out what he just said. When they did they stared wide-eyed.
Damian felt his whole body turn red, he wanted to sink into a pit and never come out.
If his brother heard this or worse, his Father he would be finished.
The first one to snap out of it was Anya, who up until now was brushed to the side, she shouted," You're not allowed to steal my Nii-chan!"
