Chapter 1
"After over 20 years, we are about to witness a magnificent phenomenon—the occurrence of both the Blue Moon and Super Moon, which we refer to as the Super Blue Moon. Many local establishments are preparing for enthusiasts who wish to witness this astronomical event. Different hotels and restaurants are now catering to couples who seek the experience of dating under the enchanting glow of the Super Blue Moon," the news anchor proclaimed, heralding the most anticipated astronomical event of the decade.
While everyone was buzzing with excitement about this astronomical event, a different atmosphere enveloped the entire Gojo Manor. This was because, for some mysterious reason, the moon, especially the Blue Moon, had a profound impact on all heirs born into the Gojo clan, specifically those who bore the Seiryuu insignia. The enchanting pull of the moon enticed their most primal instincts to emerge, while the Blue Moon bathed the darkness of the night in its ethereal light. The Gojo Seiryuu was beginning to awaken within its mortal confinement.
Yet, the aforementioned Seiryuu of the Gojo clan didn't seem to care about the broadcasted news, as if he were not the one who would be most affected by this phenomenon. Satoru was more interested in his stack of pancakes with blueberry syrup than the news. It didn't matter that all the current occupants of the dining table were watching him intently, as if they were waiting for horns to suddenly sprout from his head.
"How do you feel this morning, Satoru?" his grandfather, seated to his left, began the conversation.
He nonchalantly looked at his grandfather and shrugged his shoulders. "Nothing, actually. I'm not sure why, but this time I feel like nothing," he replied.
"It's only four days left, and the week of the Blue Moon will start. You just feel nothing? Three years ago, six days before the Blue Moon, and you were already acting up," his grandfather continued.
"Jii-chan, aren't you supposed to be happy that I feel normal unlike before?" he nonchalantly remarked.
"That's what scares us the most, don't you get it, Satoru? Three years ago, you beheaded three of our clan's council members during your rage under the influence of the Blue Moon, and that was just an ordinary Blue Moon phenomenon. This incoming one is a Super Blue Moon, yet you're telling us you don't feel any effect. I feel like we're facing the calm before the storm," his grandfather explained.
Satoru just looked at him and smiled. He was fully aware that his grandpa was very worried. Well, who wouldn't be worried when, as his grandfather mentioned, he had shown why the council should never interfere with his decisions. He acted carefree and happy-go-lucky most of the time, but he was still the current clan head. That night three years ago, his instincts were all over the place. He felt terrible; his skin tingled as if he were about to burst out of it. Despite feeling off, he still attended the clan meeting. Three of the clan elders thought that because he was only 15 back then, they could influence his decisions, and whatever he liked didn't matter. Just five minutes after that, three heads rolled onto his grandpa's favorite Persian carpet. Everyone was in shock at how quickly everything had happened, though no one dared to make a move. Who would dare? when they were looking at an irritated Clan head in his full-fledged celestial form.
Satoru understand why everyone felt the need to guard and watch his every move. Even his son Megumi, who was just five years old, didn't fully understand the importance yet, but he was doing his best to pay attention to his adoptive father's movements.
Megumi doesn't understand all the grown-up talks; all he knows is that his Dad might not be feeling well because of the moon.
"Dad, does the moon make you sick?" he asked his father.
"You have nothing to be worried about, Megumi-kun. Your father is the strongest; I don't get sick," Satoru answered while patting his adoptive son's head.
"But Jii-San is worried about you, though," Megumi insisted.
"You don't have to think about that. Why don't you eat faster so we can both go to school early? Yuuji-kun might already be there and waiting for you."
At the mention of his best friend's name, Megumi quickened his pace and finished his breakfast immediately. Megumi was very fond of that young omega child, Yuuji-kun. According to Megumi, he was the first friend his son made at his new kindergarten, even though meeting Yuuji-kun often meant his son coming home covered in scrapes. This was because Yuuji's twin brother, a five-year-old little menace named Sukuna, looked very similar to the sweet Yuuji-kun but would fight anyone he deemed a threat to his baby brother. Thankfully, his son knew how to stand his ground and fight tooth and nail for his right to play with little Yuuji-kun.
Before they both left for school one last time, he assured his grandfather that he was indeed feeling fine and there was nothing to be worried about. Although he, himself, was also questioning what was going on. He was trying to convince himself that maybe he had become immune to the cursed effects of the moon and that he would be fine next week.
He really hoped so...
