Chapter 1: Reborn

Chapter Text

“...Hello? Can you hear me?”

Izuku groans, and rolls over in bed, mumbling sleepily. The boy tries to ignore the prodding voice, hoping to get a bit more rest.

“Now is no time to rest, Izuku Midoriya. Awaken, and become aware of your new world.”

Izuku Midoriya's eyes shoot open, and the green-haired boy sits up rapidly, gasping, feeling a jolt run through his mind, bringing him to clarity.

“Uggghhhh…where am i?”

Izuku remembers the summer camp training, he remembers how it got attacked by villains, and…Izuku remembers getting kidnapped. Being held hostage by the League of Villains. Izuku shivers at the thought, Tomura Shigaraki’s disturbed ranting, Dabi’s casual maliciousness, and… All For One. The Ancient villain noticed him in the sports festival, and sought to steal his quirk, the one quirk that could ever defeat him, One For All, Izuku remembers All Might and a team of pro-heroes arriving to rescue him, and then All For One showing up to personally battle All Might. Izuku remembered the terror, remembered fighting each and every league member by himself, right when Izuku thought all hope was lost, his friends, Tenya, Shoto, Momo, Ochako, even Kacchan, they came for him! But…izuku remembers All For One turning, aiming a fist at izuku.

“If I can't have One For All, I'll ensure it never gets used against me again!”

Izuku remembers black rivets racing toward him, aiming for his head, his heart, everything. Tenya Ochako and Kacchan raced to grab him, All Might raced to tackle The Archvillain All For One, but the green-haired boy knew they wouldn’t be fast enough. Right as he closed his eyes, and offered his silent apologies to his mother for leaving her alone, there was a bright, golden flash, and then, nothing. And Izuku woke up…here. Where is here, exactly?

“Are you done introspecting yet?”

Izuku looked around, looking for the voice. It seems midoriya is in some kind of windowless room. It was decorated nicely, with pastel colors, the bed he was in was a light green-color, but that wasn’t what shocked Izuku the most. No, what shocked Izuku the most, was the creature sitting on his lap. It stood at roughly a foot tall, and had bright white fur, with orange hands and feet. It had large ears, almost as large as its entire body. The inside of its ears fur was colored white, with the outside being the same shade of orange as its hands and feet. The shape of the ears themselves almost remind Midoriya of All Might's signature hair-style. It had large, blue-eyes, and was staring at Izuku intently. For a minute, izuku would’ve mistook the creature for a bunny, if not for the fact that its eyes were far more intelligent than a rabbit, and the fact that it spoke in his mind.

“Good morning to you too, Young Hero.”

Izuku nearly threw the creature off his lap in surprise, yelping and backing up against the headboard in confusion and terror

“Wha-What are you?! Why can you talk to me?!”

The creature tilts its head in confusion, before replying in his head once again.

“I am a Victini, the Victory Star Pokemon, and a ‘her’ not an ‘It’. We possess great Psychic abilities, granting us, amongst other things, telepathy.”

Izuku gapes, blinking in confusion, and a little bit of guilt. A million different questions run through his head. Where is he, what happened, what the heck is a pokemon, The creature-Victini, watched him in confusion, and growing concern, Izuku mutedly realizing she could hear his thought process

“Oh dear, this is going to be more complicated than I initially assumed.

Suddenly, Victini’s ears twitched, and the orange and white creature looked up, at a spot near the ceiling, growling slightly, making Izuku freeze up,

“We don’t have much time. A squad of Team Plasma Goons just arrived in my Garden. Will you help me?”

Izuku blinked, before realizing whoever these ‘Team Plasma’ guys were, they must be villains. Izuku nodded, and began to climb out of bed, only flinching slightly at Victini climbing up onto his shoulder. The creature, Pokemon, he guesses? Is warm, warmer than he’d anticipate. As Midoriya gets out of bed, the green-haired boy realizes he’s in different clothes. Victini gestures toward a black backpack, sitting on a desk nearby.

“That bag has your things, even if there’s not much.”

Izuku rifles through the bag, finding the clothes he had on when he was kidnapped, and not much else. Izuku shrugs, and puts on the backpack. Slowly climbing up the stairs. Izuku realizes that the room he was in must’ve been the basement of a larger tower. He finds the lobby, and hides behind a wall, as he hears approaching steps and voices. He looks over at Victini, and gets an idea, tentatively reaching out with his mind.

“Congratulations, Izuku Midoriya, you’ve figured out Telepathy can go two-ways. I don’t sense many strong pokemon, as i said, these men are grunts at best. How should we deal with them?”

“‘You’re going to let me handle it, Victini. I may not have my license yet back home, but I've been in deadly situations and fought villains like these before.”

Victini shook her head, frowning slightly at the green-haired boy.

“I hate to be the bearer of bad news, Izuku Midoriya, but this world is different from yours. What that means, is that what you call ‘quirks’ don’t exist. And so, to keep the stability of the universe in balance, my Master locked yours away while you exist in this universe.”

Izuku’s eyes widened, and he felt for his quirk, for the endless well of energy that is One For All, as Victini said, while he could feel that it was still there, it was like it was locked behind an impenetrable barrier. Inaccessible for now. Izuku took a deep breath. Now wasn’t the time for a freakout. That could come later. He looked at Victini, eyes serious.

“Alright, Victini. It seems like this is gonna come down to you. I’m gonna guess since this world doesn’t have quirks, Pokemon existing is what makes it special?”

Victini nodded, and ran through a brief breakdown on the world Izuku found himself in. explaining that while humans who live on this world are totally normal, could even be described as quirkless, which makes Izuku’s heart flutter slightly, there’s a brand new sentient species that lives on this world, one which humans work in harmony with, called Pokemon. There’s hundreds of different species of pokemon, and 18 different typings to rank them. Victini explained that humans would classify herself and her particular species as a Fire/Psychic type. The most intriguing thing to Izuku, however, would be how people would capture, train, and battle pokemon, how becoming a Pokemon Trainer was a massive part of life on this world.

“So I assume I'm going to have to get into a…pokemon battle with these guys? Are you my Pokemon now?”

Victini nodded it’s head vigorously,

“Team Plasma is a terrorist group, acting under the facade of a ‘Pokemon Rights’ group. Their main-goal is to destroy the unity between Man and Pokemon, so that they’re the only ones with pokemon, making them the de facto dictators of this world. But they are still infants. Poochyena’s who haven’t grown their fangs yet. But they have the capability of being extremely dangerous. I believe they sought this place to capture myself, or one of my brethren. My species is regarded as a particularly rare one.”

Izuku growled, and shook his head, that wasn’t happening. Izuku could hear the grunts getting closer and closer, three of them. Izuku took a deep breath, and stepped forward, striding in front of their view. The three men were wearing the most unusual outfits Izuku thinks he’s ever seen. It looked like they were medieval squires, honestly. Gray and white robes, over black undergarments. There was a white and black shield symbol on their chests, with a blue zig-zag extending to the right side, and a large, stylized, blue ‘P’ on top of the zig-zag. The three men backed startled in confusion, seeing Izuku’s nonchalant stroll. Compared to Tomura Shigaraki or Stain, these guys were nothing. Finally, the guy in the middle noticed Victini on his shoulder, and smirked.

“Hey there, Kiddo. That’s a neat pokemon you got there. Are you a trainer?”

Izuku only hesitates for a moment, before nodding.

“Y-Yeah. The name is Midoriya, and this is…Triumph!”

Victini gave Izuku a sideways look, and he shrugged, before looking back at the grunts. The two on either side of the front one began to flank Izuku, the lead grunt still smiling at Izuku.

“Well, Midoriya, I don't suppose you’ve heard of Team Plasma, or our mission, have you?”

Izuku faked ignorance, well, he was mostly ignorant, before shaking his head no.

“We believe in Pokemon Rights, and one of the things we’re campaigning against is the way trainers capture and use pokemon for battles. So I suppose you’d understand why we’d be disturbed at you capturing what we know, as a particularly powerful pokemon?”

Izuku tapped a finger to his lip, before looking back at the lead grunt.

“Well I suppose that’s true, but that ignores one crucial detail.”

The grunt tilted his head, urging Izuku to continue.

“Consent. Triumph over here, she gave me permission to capture her, and is excited at the prospect of training and traveling with me. Wouldn’t you think that’s the same for every pokemon?”

The grunts' carefully blank face holds for a solid 10 seconds, before he growls, and unlatches a ball from his belt. The two grunts on either of Izuku’s side doing the same.

“If you won’t give us the damn Victini the easy way, we’ll take it the hard way! Go, Watchog!”

The man threw the ball down, a bright white light materializing out of it, forming a tall, muskrat like creature. It had dark red fur with two yellow stripes, a long, upright tail with another two yellow stripes around the end, and large, glaring orange and yellow eyes. The pokemon looked mean, and Izuku really wasn’t keen on getting bit by its buck teeth. The two other grunts released their own pokemon, one of them was another chipmunk-like pokemon, with eyes a similar orange and yellow color to Watchog, except smaller, and with more cream colored fur. The last pokemon being a light-brown dog-like pokemon, its face was covered in an abundance of cream fur, while the rest of its fur was more brown, except its back, which was dark blue. Victini finally jumped down from off his shoulder, Izuku backing up, along with the three plasma grunts. Victini was surrounded by the other three pokemon, but gave Izuku a comforting look. She streamed instructions into Izuku’s mind, and Izuku took to it like a fish in the sea.

“Vic-Triumph! Use Ember on the Watchog!”

The lead grunt growled, as Victini summoned a large sphere of fire in her hand, quickly shooting it at the Watchog, the man barely had time to order his pokemon to dodge, before the blast of fire hit, knocking Watchog back a foot or so, singing it’s fur slightly, The Watchog growled at the hit, and shook itself off, before crossing its arms again.

“Don’t just stand there, Idiots! Attack it!”

The two other grunts shook themselves awake, and ordered their pokemon into action.

“Patrat, Bite!”

“Lillipup, Tackle!”

Izuku stayed calm, and slowly began to follow his instincts. Victini filling him in on all the…Moves, she knew?

“Use Quick attack to dodge, then Confusion on the Patrat!”

Victini executed his plan flawlessly, blurring backwards, both grunts shouts of alarm going unheard. Patrat’s Bite went wide, before it got tackled by Lillipup, before the Chipmunk pokemon could react, Victini focused her psychic power on it. Orange energy surrounding Patrat’s form, It only squeaked in alarm, as it was lifted an inch or so above the ground, before it was hurled at Lillipup, who only just got its bearings. Both Pokemon landed in a heap. Lillipup struggled to get the unconscious chipmunk pokemon off it. The head plasma grunt growled again, sneering at Izuku

“Watchog, get in there! Sand Attack into Bite!”

Watchog growled at Victini, before rushing toward her. Izuku blinked as it picked up dirt from the ground, and chucked it at Victini’s eyes. That counted as a pokemon move? Izuku could do that! What Izuku couldn’t do, however, is bite with dark, glowing energy. Victini yelped and dodged out of the way, only being grazed, but the hit hurt her. That must be a dark-type move, Victini said that type is one of the one’s she’s weak to. Victini wouldn’t let a hit like that go unpunished, however, her eyes glowed, and the same orange energy of Confusion surrounded Watchog. Victini had a much harder time lifting up the larger Muskrat pokemon, especially considering how much it was struggling. She shoved it forward, Watchog rolling to a stop, standing unsteadily. Izuku noticed Lillipup sneaking up on Victini, and shouted out a warning.

“Quick attack to the side! Then Flame Charge, lead it on a chase!”

Victini followed his instructions to the letter, dodging the ill-thought out tackle, making Lillipup growl in anger, before flames sparked over her form. She began to fly around the battle-field, becoming almost a miniature comet as Lillipup raced after it, Victini only grew faster and faster, The Lillipup lagging behind, before suddenly swerving, tackling Watchog in a bright explosion. Lillipup skidded to a stop, staring in apprehension at the smoking crater. The dog-like pokemon sniffed carefully, approaching the crater, before-

“Shit, Watchog no!”

Watchog Lunged forward, dark energy surrounding its teeth again, but stronger this time. Izuku’s eyes widened, as he watched the puppy pokemon get savaged by Watchog. It was at that moment, that izuku remembered that these pokemon could very much be innocent, and have been stolen by these grunts. Watchog tossed the limp Lillipup to the side, growling and panting in anger, eyes unfocused. It finally caught sight of Victini, who was off to the side, having used Quick Attack to quickly escape the rampaging pokemon. It charged Victini, ignoring its trainers words, before it got blasted in the face by another Ember, knocking it out. The head-grunt looks close to flipping his lid, even as they all return their pokemon.

“T-This isn’t over, Brat!”

Izuku smirks, and cracks his knuckles

“You’re right, it’s not. Triumph? Confusion, please.”

The grunts' eyes widened, before Victini did as she was told. Orange energy surged forward, smacking two of the grunts upside the head, knocking them out, another blast of telekinetic force shoved the lead grunt forward, as Izuku rushed forward, he may not have One for All, but he’s still 150 pounds of muscle.

“Detroit Smash!”

The man's eyes rolled up in his sockets, as he dropped like a sack of rocks. Izuku breathing heavily, before laughing, Victini quickly climbing back up onto his shoulder.

“Well, I can certainly see why the people here like pokemon battles that much! That was fun! Besides the obvious danger, of course. I hope you didn’t mind me giving you a nickname like that.”

Victini smiled at Izuku, shaking her head

“No worries, Izuku Midoriya, giving a partner-pokemon a nickname is a quite common tradition here, and I quite like the name.”

Izuku nods, happy, as he looks down at the knocked out men. He hurriedly took the pokeballs from their belts, and clipped it to his own. Before finding a shed filled with supplies. He took out some rope, and began to tie the men up, taking the Head-Grunts phone.

“Well, unless you can Teleport us out of here to civilization, I suppose you wouldn’t happen to know anyone we can call to get us off this Island?”

Triumph nodded, and fed Izuku a number to call, one her ‘Master’ gave her. Izuku’s still gonna have to ask who said ‘Master’ is, but for now, he needs to escape.

“Professor Aurea Juniper, who would this be?”

Izuku gave Triumph a sideways look, and the rabbit-like pokemon shrugged, Izuku answering hesitantly.

“Um…hello? My name is Izuku Midoriya, and my pokemon, my Victini, gave me this number. I just fought a bunch of Team Plasma grunts, and would like some rescuing, if possible. I’m on…Liberty Garden Island.

The line was silent for a long moment, Izuku worrying that the woman would hang-up on him, before she finally spoke.

“Liberty Garden, you say? I’ll have Burgh come in a ship to rescue you, and bring you to Nuvema town. I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy meeting you in person, Izuku Midoriya.”

____________________________________________________________________________

Within the hour, a ship landed on the dock, stepping out of it is a lanky man, with curly light brown hair. He was wearing a dark, long sleeved green-shirt, with a red scarf, and a pair of red, green, and black pants. Izuku’s eyes were drawn to the pokemon on both of his sides. Both are Insectoid in nature, on his left is a thin, yellow bipedal pokemon, wearing leaves. The other is a large, centipede-like pokemon, its front half raised vertically, it had two pairs of horns, one pair on its head, the other on its rear-end. The creature was covered in dark magenta chitin armor, with purple circles crossing its frame, its under-half is a darker gray in color. The yellow bipedal pokemon gave Izuku a happy wave, while the magenta centipede glared at the green-haired boy wearily, making Izuku gulp nervously. These must be Bug-Type Pokemon. The man, Burgh as izuku assumes, steps forward, and glances down at the still unconscious forms of the plasma grunts in distaste, before smiling at Midoriya.

“Hello there! You must be Izuku! My name is Burgh, I'm the gym-leader of Castelia City! It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Izuku hesitantly took the outstretched hand, and nodded.

“First off, i’d like to thank you for dealing with these pests, Team Plasma has been an unfortunate thorn in all of our sides as of late.”

Izuku smiled still weary of the strong-looking bugs on either side of Burgh

“I-It was no problem, Right Triumph? We were just doing what any Hero would.”

Triumph nodded, and for the first time in-front of Izuku, verbally spoke, letting out a lively yipping sound, making both Burgh and Izuku laugh.

“I like the sound of that, Young Man! We could use a few more heroes around here! May I see your trainer license, for a moment? I’d just like to know how I should reward you!”

Izuku blanched, before looking at the man worriedly.

“Um, about that, sir…”

Izuku then hesitantly began to tell the man his story. He wasn’t exactly going to tell Burgh he was from an alternate universe, but for now, he saw fit to tell a little fib to the man. Izuku told the man how he wasn’t a trainer, and that he actually has no memories at all, before waking up in the basement of Liberty Gardens tower. How he met Triumph, and they hit it off, climbing to the surface, and battling these three grunts. Burgh frowned, slightly, humming thoughtfully to himself.

“That is worrying, I don’t know about how to get your memories back, but luckily the place you’ll be going to is the perfect place to get a Trainer Card asap! I suppose you haven’t officially captured this little guy, huh?”

Burgh scratched Triumph between her ears, making the rabbit-like pokemon make a noise of satisfaction. Izuku shook his head no, and Burgh reached in his back-pocket, taking out a tiny ball, roughly the size of a golf ball, before expanding to the size of a baseball. Izuku’s eyes widened, realizing that it was what the grunts used to hold their pokemon. Its top-half was red, and its bottom-half was white.

“This is a Pokeball, take it, and tap it to your Victini’s forehead. I’m gonna assume it wants to travel with you?”

Izuku nodded, and Burgh smiled, as he handed the ball to Midoriya

“Good. this’ll ensure nobody else can capture it. Professor Juniper will log it to your trainer ID once you become a trainer. I have no doubt you'll pass any test she throws at you fast. You defeated three grunts by yourself, with a pokemon you just met a few minutes ago. I can’t wait to see you swing by my gym when the Season starts again in a month!”

Izuku looked at Triumph, pokeball still in hand, The small rabbit-like pokemon nodded, giving Izuku a comforting smile

“Just make sure to let me out right afterwards. I prefer traveling on your shoulder if I can.”

Izuku did as he was told, tapping the pokeball onto Triumph's forehead, Triumph got sucked into the ball in a matter of moments, dematerializing into red energy. The ball shook in his hand for only a moment, before growing still. Burgh and his tall, yellow pokemon cheered at his first successful capture, and Izuku aimed the ball at the ground, releasing Triumph. The Fire Rabbit pokemon shook her head slightly, ears twitching, before quickly climbing back onto Izuku’s shoulder. Izuku clipped Triumph's ball to his belt, before handing Burgh the grunts' pokeballs.

“Here, if you could, please try to find these pokemons old trainers? I have a feeling they were stolen.”

Burgh nods sagely, and puts the pokeballs in a satchel he had on his shoulder, before motioning for Izuku to follow him. Izuku looked at the man hesitantly, as they climbed aboard, before looking back at the two pokemon on either side of him.

“Um, sir? Would it be alright if you told me about your pokemon?”

Burgh grinned widely, before launching into an excited speech about his pokemon. Izuku was almost reminded of himself when he saw a cool hero. Izuku’s heart warmed, at seeing how much the man cared about his pokemon. Izuku learned the tall, yellow pokemon was called a Leavanny, and how it’s his starter, one of his strongest. The man tells Izuku about how the scythe-like blades on its arms could cut through steel. Burgh also mentions how he is apparently, not just a Gym Leader, which Izuku discerns is the local leader of whatever area their gym is located in, but also an artist. The Centipede-like Pokemon is called Scolipede. How it specializes in overwhelming opponents with speed and various venoms. Izuku wishes he had a notebook to take notes. Burgh tells Izuku all about how he draws constant inspiration from the both of them, and while many people may see Bug-Type pokemon as weak, he sets out to break that stereotype.

“I can’t imagine why anyone would consider bug-types to be weak, especially when looking at these two, Sir. you must’ve trained them really well. They look super-strong!”

Blurgh smiles kindly at Izuku, as they dock in Castelia city. It's still morning, the sun high in the sky. A beautiful, sunny day. Speaking of it being morning, Izuku’s stomach growls loudly, making Burgh laugh loudly. He looked at two young men standing on the dock, waiting for them.

“Jonathan, Amelia! Meet Izuku. Izuku, meet two of my Gym-Trainers. Trainers who help out at my gym.”

Izuku offers a meek hello to the two, both of them gawking openly at Triumph. Didn’t she mention that her species was rare?

“Amelia, darling, go back to the gym and grab Orbeetle. He’ll be teleporting Izuku to Nuvema town. Jonathan, go to Cafe Sonata and get our young hero here some breakfast, i think he’s earned it!”

The gym trainers nodded, Jonathan sighing, seemingly at getting a less important task, the two trainers departed, and Burgh led him through the massive city. Leading him further into it, before arriving at a massive, forested central plaza. Izuku has never been in a city like this before, Izuku’s enraptured by the sights and sounds around him. Not just of the big city, but of all the pokemon living in it. It’s a beautiful sight, and Burgh catches his amazed gawking, chuckling softly as they sit down on a bench.

“I’m glad to see you’re impressed. People say Castelia City is the shining jewel of Unova, and I can't disagree.”

Izuku hums, and looks around at people smiling and laughing with their pokemon, at the massive skyscrapers surrounding him.

“So, the country we’re in is called Unova?”

Burgh looked at him in worry, and shook his head

“The region, yes. You really have no memories, do you? What do you remember, even?”

Izuku shrugged his shoulders,

“Not much, I'm not gonna lie, Sir. it’d disturb you how much i don’t know. I know my name, and that’s about it. I didn’t even know what pokemon were when I woke up. Imagine my surprise when I saw Triumph sitting on my chest!”

Izuku tried to play it off for laughs, but Burgh looks disturbed at that knowledge. Izuku supposes he’d feel the same if someone told him they didn’t know what Quirks were. Burgh quickly smiles though, patting Izuku on the back.

“That just makes your victory even more impressive! Juniper will set you right, and then you’ll take Unova by storm, I just know it!”

Izuku smiled at the man, before he could reply and thank him, the two Gym Trainers who were working with Burgh returned. Jonathan had two bags in his hands that smelled heavenly. Burgh took one, and handed the other to Izuku. Izuku almost opened up the bag to scarf down whatever was inside right away, before Burgh stopped him

“I’d wait until after you’re teleported to Nuvema. You can get a bit queasy the first time.”

Izuku nodded in understanding, and Amelia handed Burgh another pokeball, the man releasing the occupant. Inside was a large, ladybug-like pokemon. Its shell was red, with several dark blue spots. Its body was much smaller than its massive head, and It had cyan eyes, looking almost as intelligent as Triumph, if not moreso.

“Unnecessary, Izuku Midoriya.”

Izuku snickers slightly at Triumph's commentary, before focusing on Burgh again.

“This is Orbeetle, he’s a Bug/Psychic type. He’s originally from Galar, which is another region, to the north. Orbeetle. Would you mind teleporting our friend Izuku here to Nuvema Town? Professor Juniper is interested in meeting him. He has all the markings of a wonderful new trainer.”

The large beetle-like pokemon nodded, before looking toward Izuku, its cyan eyes flashing.

“It’s a pleasure meeting you, Izuku Midoriya. My Master is interested in you. He feels protective of you, even though you’ve only just met. He has an excellent eye for talent, one that’s never led him astray. We will wait for you to challenge our gym patiently. Good luck on your journey.”

The Bug-type pokemons eyes flash again, and suddenly Izuku shifts. In a bright flash of light, Izuku went from standing in the middle of a busy cityscape, to a quiet town. The boy held up for a moment, before the dizziness got to him, and he was forced to lay down on the ground. Izuku’s glad to say he didn’t barf, at least. Triumph laughed in his mind at his sorry state, staring down at him in amusement. Orbeetle flashed away as quickly as it brought Izuku to Nuvema town, leaving Izuku alone in the grass. Izuku hears footsteps approaching, and sits up, seeing a woman with light brown hair and green eyes. The woman is wearing a white shirt, with a green skirt, with a flowing lab coat over it. Professor Aurea Juniper smiles kindly at both Izuku and Triumph.

“Hello, Izuku Midoriya, it’s a pleasure to meet you in-person. I believe we have much to talk about.”

____________________________________________________________________________

A series of monitors whirred to life, various silent drones giving the man an aerial view of the region. Countless different towns and places of interest displayed. Nacrene Town, Chargestone cave, Celestial Tower, all that and more under observation. Ghetsis smiles, countless variables running through his mind. The man is only interrupted by his musing by the sound of rapid footsteps. Someone knocks on the doors of his office, and the leader of Team Plasma calls for them to enter. A nameless grunt shuffles in, stepping in-front of his desk nervously. So it seems this poor unfortunate soul is the bearer of bad-news.

“Sir! I have news from Liberty Garden!”

Ghetsis raised an eyebrow at that. Liberty Garden? He remembers that particular mission. An afterthought, really. There were rumors that a particularly powerful Pokemon lived there, one that’d be useful for their cause. He sent a handful of grunts to see if they could apprehend it, or at least confirm its existence so that he could send a more concentrated effort of men after it. Any resources they could get their hands on was a boon.

“I suppose they failed in their mission, if you come to my office so dejected?”

The grunt froze, but nodded, and continued his report.

“Not only that, they were arrested, Sir! Burgh personally saw to it.”

Burgh? Now that’s interesting. Team Plasma has only made hesitant probes at Castelia City, the City of Grandeur is just too large and too well-defended for them to fully pour their influence into it just yet. Ghetsis knew that Liberty Garden was technically within Castelia’s realm of protection, but for the Gym Leader himself to personally apprehend what is, for all intents and purposes, a paltry sum of grunts? That leads Ghetsis to believe that there may actually be something worth protecting in Liberty Garden, or at the very least, there was outside interference. The mastermind of Team Plasma hums non committedly, before addressing the grunt again.

“Unfortunate, but no big loss. We’ll have our scouts keep an eye out on the island, or pokemon who may match the description of The Victory Star. Luckily, though…”

One of the monitors drones flew over pinwheel forest, displaying a young, green-haired man exiting it, talking amicably to a Pidove. It was difficult to see from the drone being so high in the sky, but it almost looks like the man is responding to the chirps and coo’s of the dove pokemon, like he can understand it.

“Our more important plans are bearing more fruit.”
